In this paper, novel Ag nanodendrites (Ag NDs) substrates were designed and fabricated on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass by using cyclic voltammetry electrodeposition. This method was simple, facile and controllable without any seed, template or surfactant. The influence of electrodeposition conditions on the microstructure and SERS-active of Ag NDs substrate were studied. Under the optimized conditions, the as-prepared Ag NDs exhibited superior SERS activity toward malachite green(MG) with high enhancement effect of 5.4 × 10 9 and low detection limit of 9.4 × 10 −13 M. Moreover, the Ag-NDs substrate shows extremely good uniformity and reproducibility with low relative standard deviation of 12.6% for substrate-to-substrate. In addition, a logarithmic correlation between MG concentration and Raman intensity was obtained, with the linearly dependent coefficient (R 2 ) of 0.984. The as-prepared Ag NDs substrates were successfully applied to the determination of MG in environmental water, with recoveries in the range of 87.8% to 109.6%. These results show high potential of the Ag NDs as effective SERS substrates for rapid detection of other trace-level contaminants in environment water.

Elemental composition, dimensionality and morphology are the main factors that influence the catalytic activity and stability of platinum-based and noble metal alloy nanocatalysts. Herein, we present a facile and cost-efficient approach to synthesize ternary alloy Pt–Pd–Ag nanoflowers by co-reduction of the metal precursors in aqueous solutions in a suitable molar ratio, involving hexamethylenetetramine as a structure-directing agent and ascorbic acid as a reducing agent. Both the presence of the aforementioned agents and the interaction between the component metals allow good control over the anisotropic growth of the ternary alloy nanostructure. The as-prepared nanocomposite demonstrates superior electrocatalytic activity towards the oxygen reduction reaction in acidic medium, compared with commercial Pt/C (20 wt%) and Pd/C (10 wt%) catalysts, as well as sufficiently good stability, as demonstrated by the accelerated durability test. The electrocatalytic activity of irregularly shaped nanoparticles of the same elemental composition was also measured, which revealed that the nanoflowers were superior catalysts owing to their specific morphological characteristics. Moreover, the nanoflowers displayed a relatively low electrochemical surface area decay (from 100% to 80.82%) due to their three-dimensional open-framework surface which can limit the aggregation of individual particles.

We demonstrate a simple approach for fabricating polydopamine microcapsules decorated with silver nanoparticles (Ag@PDA MCs) as highly efficient catalysts for water purification . Polydopamine microcapsules (PDA MCs) were formed on the MnCO 3 template from self-polymerization and the removal of template under mild EDTA solution, followed by in situ reduction of Ag + by PDA and growth of monodispersed Ag nanoparticles . Under optimized conditions, the Ag@PDA MCs exhibits 41.56 wt% of Ag loading contents and superior catalytic performance for the degradation of organic pollutants with rate constant of 2.93 min -1 for methylene blue and 1.03 min -1 for 4-nitrophenol. The excellent catalytic activity can mainly be ascribed to high surface roughness of microcapsules, high Ag loading ratio, and uniform distribution of Ag nanoparticles . In addition, this catalyst can be recycled for five times with degradation efficiency higher than 98%. The Ag@PDA MCs possessed fast reduction rate, high catalytic activity, and good recyclability as well as facile preparation and easy separation, showing great potential for the application in wastewater treatment .

Antimicrobial materials are an urgent need for modern wound care in the clinic. Although traditional polyurethane foams have proven to be clinically valuable for wound treatment, their petroleum-originated preparation and bioinert nature have restricted their efficacy in biomedical applications. Here, we propose a simple one-step foaming method to prepare lignin-based polyurethane foams (LPUFs) in which fully biobased polyether polyols partially replace traditional petroleum-based raw materials. The trace amount of phenolic hydroxyl groups (about 4 mmol) in liquefied lignin acts as a direct reducing agent and capping agent to silver ions (less than 0.3 mmol), in situ forming silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) within the LPUF skeleton. This newly proposed lignin polyurethane/Ag composite foam (named as Ag NP-LPUF) shows improved mechanical, thermal, and antibacterial properties. It is worth mentioning that the Ag NP-LPUF exhibits more than 99% antibacterial rate against Escherichia coli within 1 h and Staphylococcus aureus within 4 h. Evaluations in mice indicate that the antimicrobial composite foams can effectively promote wound healing of full-thickness skin defects. As a proof of concept, this antibacterial and biodegradable foam exhibits significant potential for clinical translation in wound care dressings.

Wheat leaves with natural microstructures as substrates were covered by the silver nanoislands by magnetron to prepare a low-cost, environment-friendly and mass production surface-enhanced fluorescence (SEF) substrate (Ag-WL substrate). The best SEF substrate was selected by repeatly certifying the fluorescence intensity of 10−5 M Rhodamine B (RB) and 10−5 M Rhodamine 6G (R6G) aqueous solutions. The abundant semi-spherical protrusions and flake-like structures on the surface of the Ag-WL substrate produce high-density hot spots, which provides a new and simple idea for the preparation of biomimetic materials. The results of 3D finite-different time-domain (FDTD) simulation show that the nanoisland gap of semi-spherical protrusions and flake-like structures has produced rich hotspots. By adjusting the time of magnetron sputtering, the enhancement factor (EF) was as high as 839 times, relative standard deviation (RSD) reached as low as 10.7%, and the substrate was very stable and repeatable, which shows that Ag-WL substrate is trustworthy. Moreover, semi-spherical protrusions provide stronger surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) effects compared to flake-like structure. What is more surprising is that the detection limit of the substrate for toxic substance crystal violet (CV) is as low as 10−10 M.

Ag/BP-NS exhibit remarkable surface-enhanced Raman scattering performance with single-molecule detection ability. This remarkable enhancement can be attributed to the synergistic resonance enhancement of R6G molecular resonance, photo-induced charge transfer resonance and electromagnetic resonance.
A new polarization-mapping method was proposed, which can quickly screen out single-molecule signals and prove that the obtained spectra are emitted by single molecule.
The recognition of different tumor exosomes can be realized combining the method of machine learning.
AbstractSection
Abstract
Single-molecule detection and imaging are of great value in chemical analysis, biomarker identification and other trace detection fields. However, the localization and visualization of single molecule are still quite a challenge. Here, we report a special-engineered nanostructure of Ag nanoparticles embedded in multi-layer black phosphorus nanosheets (Ag/BP-NS) synthesized by a unique photoreduction method as a surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) sensor. Such a SERS substrate features the lowest detection limit of 10 –20 mol L −1 for R6G, which is due to the three synergistic resonance enhancement of molecular resonance, photo-induced charge transfer resonance and electromagnetic resonance. We propose a polarization-mapping strategy to realize the detection and visualization of single molecule. In addition, combined with machine learning, Ag/BP-NS substrates are capable of recognition of different tumor exosomes, which is meaningful for monitoring and early warning of the cancer. This work provides a reliable strategy for the detection of single molecule and a potential candidate for the practical bio-application of SERS technology.

Micromotors have hold great promise for environmental remediation. Herein, we reported a novel γ-Fe 2 O 3 @Ag-mSiO 2 NH 2 magnetic Janus micromotor for dynamic removal of heavy metal ions and organic pollutants from water. The as-prepared Janus micromotors displayed unique core-shell structure composed of amino-functionalized meso‑SiO 2 shell and γ-Fe 2 O 3 magnetic core, and could be propelled by O 2 bubbles generated by Ag-catalyzed decomposition of H 2 O 2 . This Janus micromotor could move with a high velocity of 203.06 ± 10.6 μm s −1 (about 253.8 body lengths s –1 ) in 10 wt.% H 2 O 2 solution. γ-Fe 2 O 3 @Ag-mSiO 2 NH 2 magnetic Janus micromotor showed much higher removal capacities for Cu 2+ (15.59 mg g −1 ) and doxycycline (31.45 mg g −1 ) than its static control samples due to the synergy of self-propulsive movement and amino-functionalized porous core-shell structure. Furthermore, the magnetic γ-Fe 2 O 3 cores enabled the remote magnetic control on the movement direction and magnetic recycling. This work provides a new strategy for environmental pollutants treatment.

Metal alloy nanosheets play a very important role as catalysts, which also show obvious advantages in the field of biosensor. Compared with traditional methods, such as enzyme method, gas chromatography or optical absorbance, the detection of ascorbic acid is simpler and more stable
by spectroscopy. Ag–Cu alloy nanosheets with a thickness of about 1–3 nm and an average lateral size of 3–5 nm were synthesized in this study by the soft template method. These nanosheets were used to construct a sensor for measuring the concentration of ascorbic acid. The
initial UV-Vis absorption peaks for the Ag–Cu alloy nanosheets in aqueous solution were effectively quenched upon addition of ascorbic acid. As the ascorbic acid concentration was in the range of 5–250 mmol/L changes, the UV absorbance intensity for the sensor also changed. Because
of its wide detection range, high sensitivity, and excellent stability, the Ag–Cu alloy sensor method may be an excellent alternative to the traditional ascorbic acid measure method.

Herein, we fabricated an Ag/Ag2Se composite film on a flexible nylon membrane with a high power factor and excellent flexibility. First, Ag nanoparticles and multiscale Ag2Se nanostructure composite powders were prepared by wet chemical synthesis using Se nanowires, silver nitrate, and l-ascorbic acid as raw materials, followed by vacuum-assisted filtration of the composite powders on a porous nylon membrane and then hot pressing. The optimized composite film shows a very high power factor of 1860.6 μW m–1 K–2 (with a corresponding electrical conductivity of 3958 S cm–1) at room temperature. The composite film retains 93.3% of the original electrical conductivity after 1000 bending cycles around a rod with a diameter of 8 mm. At a temperature difference of 27 K, an 8-leg thermoelectric prototype device assembled with the optimized composite film generates a maximum power of 7.14 μW with a corresponding power density of 8.74 W m–2. This work provides a new strategy to synthesize flexible thermoelectric films with both a high power factor and high electrical conductivity.

In this study, we developed a microfluidic paper analysis device (μPAD) for distance-based detection of Ag + in water. The μPAD was manufactured by wax printing method on filter paper. Then, a layer of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) was deposited and ascorbic acid was printed on the channel. In the detection, Ag + was reduced by ascorbic acid and coated on the surface of the AuNPs on the channel, forming Au@Ag core/shell nanoparticles. Based on the capillary flow principle, different concentrations of Ag + formed different distances of color ribbons. Thus, quantitative detection of Ag + can be achieved by measuring the distance of the color ribbon. The detection limit of this method was as low as 1 mg·L −1 within 15 min and the interference of common metal ions in water can be eliminated. In conclusion, this method had successfully realized the leap from colorimetry to direct reading, realizing fast read and easy manipulation with low-cost.

Antibacterial agents with enzyme-like properties and bacteria-binding ability have provided an alternative method to efficiently disinfect drug-resistance microorganism. Herein, a Fe 3 O 4 @MoS 2 -Ag nanozyme with defect-rich rough surface was constructed by a simple hydrothermal method and in-situ photodeposition of Ag nanoparticles. The nanozyme exhibited good antibacterial performance against E. coli (~69.4%) by the generated ROS and released Ag + , while the nanozyme could further achieve an excellent synergistic disinfection (~100%) by combining with the near-infrared photothermal property of Fe 3 O 4 @MoS 2 -Ag. The antibacterial mechanism study showed that the antibacterial process was determined by the collaborative work of peroxidase-like activity, photothermal effect and leakage of Ag + . The defect-rich rough surface of MoS 2 layers facilitated the capture of bacteria, which enhanced the accurate and rapid attack of OH and Ag + to the membrane of E. coli with the assistance of local hyperthermia. This method showed broad-spectrum antibacterial performance against Gram-negative bacteria, Gram-positive bacteria, drug-resistant bacteria and fungal bacteria. Meanwhile, the magnetism of Fe 3 O 4 was used to recycle the nanozyme. This work showed great potential of engineered nanozymes for efficient disinfection treatment.

The self-assembly process of metal nanoparticles has aroused wide attention due to its low cost and simplicity. However, most of the recently reported self-assembly systems only involve two or fewer metals. Herein, we first report a successful synthesis of self-assembled Ag@AuCu trimetal nanoplates in aqueous solution. The building blocks of multibranched AuCu alloy nanocrystals were first synthesized by a chemical reduction method. The growth of Ag onto the AuCu nanocrystals in the presence of hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTAC) induces a self-assembly process and formation of Ag@AuCu trimetal nanoplates. These nanoplates with an average side length of over 2 μm show a porous morphology and a very clear boundary with the branches of the as-prepared AuCu alloy nanocrystals extending out. The shape and density of the Ag@AuCu trimetal nanoplates can be controlled by changing the reaction time and the concentration of silver nitrate. The as-assembled Ag@AuCu nanoplates are expected to have the potential for wide-ranging applications in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and catalysis owing to their unique structures.Keywords:trimetal;self-assemble;nanoplates;AuCu alloy
