The climate crisis caused by excessive carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions urgently call for efficient electrocatalytic reduction technology to convert CO 2 into high value-added products. In this study, nickel polyphthalocyanine (NiPPc) electrocatalysts with different copper (Cu) doping amounts (10–90 wt%) were prepared by solvothermal method, Combining X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and other characterization and electrochemical testing, it is found that: Doping with 10 wt% Cu significantly enhanced catalytic activity, achieving a current density of 325 mA cm −2 at − 0.6 V (vs. RHE)—2.8 times that of the sample; 50 wt% Cu doping optimized the Cu–N 4 active sites, yielding a carbon monoxide (CO) Faraday efficiency of up to 95% at − 1.0 V; 30 wt% Cu-doped catalyst can generate CO: H 2 = 1:1 syngas, A controllable catalyst design strategy is provided for CO 2 electrocatalytic reduction. Graphical Influence of Cu Loading (10–90 wt%) on Electrocatalytic CO 2 Reduction Activity and CO Selectivity of NiPPc Catalysts.

As one of the most commonly used binary alloys , the effect of intermetallic compounds (IMCs) of Al-Cu alloys in powder metallurgy on their structure and properties is instructive for tailoring Al-Cu alloys for different applications. In this investigation, a series of Al-Cu-Ag alloys with varying Cu compositions were fabricated via hot pressing. TEM analysis identified CuAl 2 as the primary intermetallic compounds , with Ag existing in forms including Ag 2 Al, elemental Ag, and an Ag-(Cu) solid solution . The modulation of Cu content influenced the state of Ag and the mechanical behaviors of the Al-Cu-Ag alloy. Particularly, the high Al/Cu alloy, benefiting from a synergistic effect comprising stacking faults, nanoscale precipitates, and solid solutions, exhibited outstanding mechanical properties. Conversely, the Al-50Cu-3Ag alloys displayed significant brittleness , attributed to the adverse impact of large-scale intermetallic compounds and increased grain size due to the formation of CuAl 2 . The incorporation of nanoparticles effectively mitigated the grain size in high Al/Cu alloys. This study elucidates the correlation between the evolution of intermetallic compounds and composition in Al-Cu alloys, offering novel insights into the reinforcement of both Al-based and Cu-based alloys.

Pd/Ag/Cu electrode was successfully prepared on Ag dendrites with Cu substrate (Ag/Cu) by galvanic replacement reactions, and was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. The electroreductive dechlorination reaction of 2,3-dichlorophenol on Pd/Ag/Cu electrode was investigated by cyclic voltammetry and in situ FTIR techniques. Compared with Pd/Cu, Ag/Cu and Cu electrodes, Pd/Ag/Cu electrode exhibited the highest electrocatalytic activity for electroreductive reaction of 2,3-dichlorophenol. C-Cl bond was broken by reaction of adsorbed 2,3-dichlorophenolate with (H) ads Pd on Pd/Ag/Cu electrode surface. The main intermediate was 2-chlorophenolate, and the final product was phenolate.

Commercial silicon-graphite anodes typically restrict the silicon fraction below 10 % to preserve structural integrity, yet this compromises their energy density. When the silicon content rises to ∼20 %, the severe volume mismatch between silicon and graphite generates interfacial delamination, SEI overgrowth, and rapid capacity decay. Conventional carbon coatings fail to resolve this conflict—soft carbons creep plastically, while hard carbons are rigid but disordered, causing brittle fracture and weak interfacial bonding. Here, we introduce a Cu-regulated carbonization microenvironment strategy to construct a robust silicon-graphite composite. Trace Cu catalytically redirects the pyrolysis of glucose toward aromatization-graphitization, yielding a high- sp 2 , densely stacked carbon sheath with superior conductivity and mechanical strength. Simultaneously, Cu acts as a chemical welder, weakening Si–Si bonds and inducing covalent Si–C/Si– O –C linkages that anchor the carbon shell to the active core. The resulting Cu-templated composite maintains structural integrity and achieves 94.3 % capacity retention after 600 cycles at 0.2 A g −1 . This work establishes a dual catalytic-interfacial function of Cu, offering a new paradigm for carbon microenvironment regulation in high-silicon composite anodes.

With increasingly stringent application environments, there is a growing demand for designing and fabricating of promising structural materials. Conventional metallurgical methods typically struggle to produce positive mixing enthalpy alloys with uniform microstructures and consistent properties due to mutual immiscibility and uncontrollable segregation during solidification. To this end, we employ a bottom-up approach to fabricate Cu-50 vol% Fe 55 Cr 25 Mo 16 B 2 C 2 positive mixing enthalpy composites, utilizing ultrafast high-temperature sintering and instantaneous quenching. The method effectively prevents liquid segregation during the molten state and allows precise control over the size and distribution of the two phases. In addition, incorporated metallic glass particles as the hard phase additives, which can quickly form the localized multi-phase nanocrystals and establish a robust interlocking structure with pure copper during rapid sintering. Upon rapid quenching, the two phases solidify with a tight and conformal interface, while the elemental cross-diffusion and phase separation are mitigated. The mechanical tensile strength of the resulting composite is approximately 8 times greater than that of pure Cu. The wear resistance improves by 40-50 times, and the Vickers hardness increases by a factor of 10. The innovative sintering method provides a feasible pathway for developing and manufacturing of positive mixing enthalpy composite materials.

Halide solid electrolytes have emerged as highly attractive electrolyte materials owing to their excellent ionic conductivity and high oxidation potential. In this work, low-cost CuCl is employed as a dopant, and Cu⁺-doped Li₃InCl₆ is prepared via ball milling, yielding a series of novel Li₃₋ ₓ Cu ₓ InCl₆ (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.4) electrolytes. Cu⁺ doping modifies the crystal structure and regulates the ionic conductivity of the material. Among them, Li₂.₉Cu₀.₁InCl₆ exhibits a lower activation energy and achieves a room-temperature ionic conductivity of 1.04 mS cm⁻¹. Cu⁺ doping enhances the air stability of Li₃InCl₆ and mitigates the degradation of ionic conductivity after air exposure. Furthermore, Cu⁺ doping reduces surface cracks, improves the deformability of the material, and lowers interfacial resistance. All-solid-state batteries using Li₂.₉Cu₀.₁InCl₆ as the electrolyte display superior capacity and cycling performance compared to those with pristine Li₃InCl₆. This work demonstrates that Cu⁺ doping is an effective strategy to boost ionic conductivity, improve air stability, and enhance the electrochemical performance of Li₃InCl₆.

Electrochemical CO 2 reduction to multicarbon (C 2+ ) products remains limited by sluggish CO 2 activation, inefficient C─C coupling, and competition from the hydrogen evolution reaction. Herein, we report a graphene–copper heterostructure catalyst (Gr@Cu) that significantly enhances ethylene production through rational interfacial electronic modulation. The optimized Gr@Cu 0.8 catalyst achieved a Faradaic efficiency of ~55% for ethylene (C 2 H 4 ) at −0.87 V versus RHE. Density functional theory calculations reveal that interfacial charge transfer at the Gr@Cu interface lowers the energy barriers for both the CO 2 activation and *CO dimerization, thus promoting the key C─C coupling step. Frontier orbital and d-band center analyses further demonstrate that the heterostructure elevates the Cu d-band center and improves orbital coupling with reaction intermediates, facilitating electron transfer and intermediate adsorption. This work elucidates the structure–activity relationship of graphene–metal heterointerfaces and provides mechanistic guidelines for designing advanced electrocatalysts toward efficient and selective CO 2 -to-C 2+ conversion. Graphical Through rational interfacial electronic modulation, a graphene–copper heterostructure (Gr@Cu) boosts CO 2 electroreduction to ethylene. A key biomass-derived platform molecule, furfural (FF), offers immense potential for synthesizing valuable chemicals like furfuryl alcohol (FAL) through catalytic hydrogenation. Copper-based catalysts stand out for this conversion owing to their adjustable active sites, economic viability, and decent stability. Nevertheless, conventional Cu electrodes exhibit limited performance, and the atomic-scale catalytic mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we developed a series of oxide-derived copper (OD-Cu) catalysts with precisely controlled Cu(100) to Cu(111) facet ratios for the electrochemical hydrogenation of furfural. Remarkably, the cube-shaped OD-Cu catalyst, dominated by Cu(100) facets, delivered an exceptional FAL selectivity of 97.7%, far exceeding the 61.1% selectivity achieved by its octahedron-shaped counterpart with predominant Cu(111) facets. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations provided atomic-level insights, revealing that the Cu(100) surface induces greater elongation of the aldehyde C═O bond in adsorbed FF compared to Cu(111), indicating superior activation of this critical functional group. Additionally, the calculations demonstrated stronger furfural adsorption on Cu(100) than on Cu(111). These combined effects synergistically enhance catalytic performance.

Synergistic coupling between Cu and Os endowed nanozyme with dual enzyme-like activities. • Cu modulation simultaneously improved efficiency and reduced noble metal consumption. • Peroxidase- and ascorbate oxidase–like activities were integrated into a single nanozyme. • Multimodal biosensing was realized via colorimetric and fluorescence readouts. Dual metal nanozymes with synergistic catalytic effects provide a versatile platform for biosensing applications. In this work, a carboxylated chitosan–supported Cu/Os dual-metal nanozyme (CC-CuOs) was developed. The incorporation of Cu introduced ascorbate oxidase–like activity, enhanced the intrinsic peroxidase-like performance of the Os-based nanozyme, and reduced noble metal consumption, thereby improving overall cost efficiency. Benefiting from these dual enzyme-like activities, CC-CuOs was employed as a unified catalytic platform to construct two complementary biosensing systems. A cascade colorimetric assay for choline detection was developed based on peroxidase-like activity, exhibiting a linear response over 1–400 μM with a detection limit of 0.85 μM. In parallel, a fluorescence-based sensing strategy for alkaline phosphatase was realized by exploiting the ascorbate oxidase–like activity of CC-CuOs, enabling quantitative detection from 10 to 500 U·L −1 with a detection limit of 0.91 U·L −1 . Both sensing platforms exhibited satisfactory accuracy, selectivity, and reproducibility when applied to human serum. Overall, this study highlights the potential of CC-CuOs nanozymes for constructing multimodal biosensing platforms through synergistic dual enzyme-like activities. Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) hold great promise for sustainable energy storage, yet their practical viability is constrained by Zn dendrites and water-induced parasitic reactions. However, conventional additives generally address only one of these issues and lack dynamic interfacial regulation, failing to achieve the long-term stability of the Zn anode. Herein, we introduce a transformative-type additive Cu–EDTA that dynamically evolves into two functional cooperative species: a CuZn5 alloy and Zn–EDTA adsorbates. The electrochemically formed CuZn5 alloy induces the growth of the Zn(101) texture, thus suppressing Zn dendrites. The spontaneously formed Zn–EDTA adsorbates construct a poor water, which can effectively exclude H2O from the electrode/electrolyte interface, preventing the adverse water–parasitic reactions. In the Zn//Zn symmetrical batteries, the Cu–EDTA additive realizes an ultralong cycling stability over 10,000 h at 2 mA cm–2/1 mAh cm–2. An ultrahigh reversibility with an average Coulombic efficiency of 99.96% is achieved in the Zn//Cu asymmetrical battery. The Zn//MnO2 cell retains stable operation over 10,000 cycles at 5 A g–1. This work gives a simple transformative additive paradigm for the comprehensive solution of stabilizing the Zn anodes in the practical development of AZIBs.

Considering the crucial role of riboflavin in human physiological functions, developing a rapid and sensitive detection method is essential in fields such as food and drug analysis. Electrochemical sensing is a powerful method for the determination of riboflavin. Herein, in this study, metal organic framework (MOF) microflower Cu-TCPP was prepared by solvothermal method using trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) as the modulator and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the structural guide. Then followed by the fabrication of a novel electrochemical sensor for riboflavin detection. The microflower-like morphology of Cu-TCPP provided numerous active sites for riboflavin oxidation. Meanwhile, electrochemical results demonstrated that the Cu-TCPP enhanced the electron transfer efficiency and electroactive surface area of GCE, exhibiting excellent catalytic performance. Under optimized detection conditions, square wave voltammetry (SWV) test showed that the Cu-TCPP sensor exhibited a linear range for riboflavin of 1.00 × 10 −8 to 9.91 × 10 −5 M, with a low limit of detection (LOD) (1.70 × 10 −9 M) (S/N = 3). The sensor possessed good selectivity, excellent anti-interference capability, and outstanding stability. Additionally, the sensor was successfully employed for riboflavin detection in real samples, and the spiked recovery rate ranged from 98.85% to 102.86%, indicating its significant application value in real sample analysis.

Micro‐ and nanomotors (MNMs) promise impact in the areas of environmental remediation and biomedicine, but reliable three‐dimensional (3D) control remains challenging. Conventional bubble‐propelled MNMs can move in 3D, yet their trajectories are stochastic and energy‐inefficient. Here we introduce a buoyancy‐regulated strategy inspired by cyanobacteria‐like microvesicles. We engineer sodium‐alginate (SA)hydrogel magnetic micromotors (SA/Cu‐TiO 2 /Fe 3 O 4 ), in which Cu‐TiO 2 is derived from the Ti‐based metal–organic framework MIL‐125(Ti v ), yielding a porous and defect‐rich photocatalyst with uniformly distributed Cu sites for enhanced H 2 O 2 decomposition and photocatalytic activity compared with pristine TiO 2 . Upon illumination, Cu‐TiO 2 catalyzes H 2 O 2 decomposition to generate O 2 pockets that are retained within the elastic, semipermeable alginate matrix, enabling programmable flotation and precise control of vertical ( Z ‐axis) position as part of full 3D navigation. We analyze the energetics and cross‐scale mass‐transport mechanisms governing this buoyancy control, and we demonstrate guided 3D motion through a maze via magnetic steering. In model turbid water, the micromotors achieve high removal performance across diverse organic contaminants. This bioinspired platform provides a prototype and motion‐control paradigm for 3D‐motile MNMs, advancing practical remediation in aquatic environments. In this work, cyanobacteria‐inspired sodium alginate (SA)/Cu‐TiO 2 /Fe 3 O 4 hydrogel micromotors generate and encapsulate O 2 microvesicles upon light irradiation, enabling buoyancy‐mediated Z ‐axis upward migration and surface enrichment at the light‐exposed water‐air surface. The synergistic combination of intensified light harvesting, efficient transmembrane pollutant diffusion, and concurrent photocatalytic/Fenton‐like reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation endows the micromotors with outstanding degradation capacity toward various organic pollutants, paving a feasible pathway for practical remediation of turbid, complicated wastewater systems.
