Conductive elastomer composites are promising for large-deformation sensing and structural health monitoring, but their QNDE application is limited by unstable electromechanical responses, resistance hysteresis, and disordered conductive-pathway rearrangement during cyclic loading. Here, a Si-69-induced siloxane interfacial network regulation strategy was developed for hydroxylated multi-walled carbon nanotube/methyl vinyl silicone rubber (MWCNT-OH/VMQ) composites for cyclic strain evaluation of seismic isolation bearings. Si-69 constructed an in situ Si–O–Si/Si–O–C-rich interfacial layer on MWCNT-OH, forming MOB conductive elastomer composites. The optimized MOB7.5 wt% composite increased tensile strength and elongation at break by approximately 52% and 59.53%, respectively, and achieved an apparent gauge factor of 49.01, a strain-monitoring range of 391.84%, and a dynamic tensile-loading response time of 220 ms. Experimental characterisation and molecular dynamics simulations indicated improved filler dispersion, strengthened filler–matrix coupling, restricted segmental motion, reduced free volume, and increased interfacial binding energy, promoting a more reversible conductive network. A robust AE–CNN–LSTM framework enabled resistance-signal characterisation, strain-history reconstruction, and few-shot calibration. In preliminary bearing-level monitoring, MOB7.5 wt% generated continuous resistance signals under bidirectional compression–shear deformation and showed sensitivity to local strain heterogeneity through bifurcated resistance peaks.

Here, we report that hollow MTB@Si-TiO 2 microparticles with a photo-responsive regeneration property were prepared for reproducible treatment of oily wastewater. Oil solutions of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and butyl methacrylate (BMA, containing oleic acid-modified ferric tetroxide (OA-Fe 3 O 4 )), a photoinitiator, a surfactant and silane-modified TiO 2 nanoparticles served as the middle phase. Aqueous solutions containing glycerol and surfactant were used as the inner and outer phases. Water-in-oil-in-water (W/O/W) emulsion templates were prepared by a microfluidic emulsification method and subsequently polymerized under UV light to form photocatalytic magnetic hollow porous microparticles. The hollow MTB@Si-TiO 2 microparticles exhibit high and stable adsorption performance (6.07 g/g) toward various oil–water mixtures under different conditions. In addition, cyclic oil–water separation experiments demonstrate the excellent photocatalytic regeneration capability of the microparticles and their high removal efficiency for oil and organic dyes (99.05%). Therefore, during oily wastewater treatment, the microparticles can be regenerated while directly degrading pollutants in the wastewater through photocatalysis, thereby avoiding secondary pollution caused by the use of additional solvents.

Aluminum–silicon (Al–Si) alloys, due to their excellent heat storage density and thermal conductivity, are ideal candidates for high-temperature phase change materials (PCMs). However, metal-based PCMs are prone to leakage and corrosion during melting, which affects their stability. Traditional ceramic encapsulation suffers from poor thermal conductivity, a large mass ratio, and a lack of latent heat storage capacity, limiting its ability to meet the demands of efficient energy storage. This study proposes a novel design of a macro-capsule encapsulated with microencapsulated phase change materials (MEPCMs). By introducing MEPCMs into the outer shell of the macrocapsules, the system gains latent heat storage capability, increasing the mass content of the heat storage medium within the capsule and forming a dual heat storage unit of “core + shell”. Both the macrocapsules and the microcapsules are designed with thermal expansion cavities, effectively alleviating the volume expansion during the phase change process. The resulting macrocapsules exhibit a latent heat storage density of 420.9 J g−1 with an encapsulation efficiency of 86.8%. Within the operating temperature range of 500–700 °C, the maximum total thermal storage density reaches 630.7 J g−1. In addition, the thermal conductivity of the composite shell is 4.891 W m−1 K−1, representing a 217% increase compared with conventional ceramic encapsulation. After 100 thermal cycles, the latent heat retention remains as high as 99.2%, indicating that the developed macrocapsules have good potential for high-temperature thermal applications.

The hierarchical porous architecture of sugarcane peel was successfully replicated using a biological template method. The samples were fabricated via a sol-gel process combined with ambient pressure drying, and the Si-Zr-Al-Y system integrated with the biomass template was pyrolyzed at temperatures ranging from 700 °C to 1300 °C to obtain Si-Zr-Al-Y oxide ceramic composites. The evolution of the microstructure and phase composition of the Si-Zr-Al-Y system during pyrolysis was systematically investigated. The incorporation of biomass templates facilitated the retention of a relatively fine mesoporous structure (6.88 nm) and low thermal conductivity (0.035 W·m⁻¹·K⁻¹) up to 1100 °C, although pore coarsening and specific surface area reduction became evident at higher temperatures (1300 °C). Furthermore, the influence of processing temperature on specific surface area, pore size, and pore structure was examined in detail. This study not only establishes a foundation for future research but also provides insights into sustainable industrial waste management and contributes to global sustainable development strategies.

Silica-supported tungsten oxides (WO x /SiO 2 ) as industrial catalysts are widely applied for the metathesis of ethylene and butylene to propylene, yet often suffer from limited dispersion and stability due to ill-defined interactions between tungsten species and surface silanols microenvironment of silica support. In this work, the type and density of specific surface silanols in silica were successfully tailored by precisely controlling thermal pretreatment temperature. Multiple advanced characterizations and theoretical calculations revealed that vicinal-silanol-rich surface microenvironments were strongly associated with the formation of highly dispersed and stable isolated dioxo W (VI) -O-Si structure, while effectively suppressing the formation of less-active W-O-W aggregates. Under the comparable conditions, the optimized WO x /SiO 2 ‑ 550 catalyst with rich W (VI) -O-Si sites delivered an enviable propylene yield of over 67.9% in the olefin metathesis with a lower deactivation rate (0.069 h −1 ), far outperforming conventional catalysts. Moreover, the catalyst demonstrated satisfactory long-term stability over 200 h on stream and partial activity recovery upon oxidative regeneration. Mechanistic studies further suggested that the dioxo W (VI) -O-Si structure enhanced the adsorption and activation of olefins and favored the formation of surface species consistent with literature-proposed metal‑carbene intermediates, thereby improving both catalytic activity and propylene selectivity. These findings provide a fundamental understanding and a practical strategy for the rational design of highly-dispersed and stable supported tungsten catalysts for olefin metathesis.

Hierarchical x MCMnO x was fabricated via facile in-situ silane confinement strategy. • Si-O-Mn are formed by the interaction of amorphous siloxane network and MOF precursor. • Mn 4+ + Ce 3+ ⇌Mn 3+ + Ce 4+ cycle forms a dynamic equilibrium to produce oxygen vacancies. • 3MCMnO x shown superior activity for low-temperature NH 3 -SCR with H 2 O/SO 2 resistance. Developing high-efficiency catalysts for the selective catalytic reduction of NO x with NH 3 (NH 3 -SCR) is of great significance for achieving ultra-low NO x emissions. Herein, hierarchical x MCMnO x hollow nanorod hybrids were fabricated via a facile in-situ silane confinement strategy using Ce-doped Mn-BTC modified with MTMS (methyltrimethoxysilane) as the sacrificial template for NH 3 -SCR reaction. Systematic studies demonstrated that the tight chemical interaction between the amorphous siloxane network and the MOF precursor facilitated the highly dispersed distribution of the doped Ce species around the Mn active sites, forming abundant Si-O-Mn interface covalent bonds and strong metal-metal interactions (Mn 4 + + Ce 3+ ⇌ Mn 3+ + Ce 4+ ). Benefiting from the stronger NH₃ adsorption capacity, abundant reactive oxygen species, and surface-enriched hydrophobic methyl groups, the optimized 3MCMnO x promoted the Eley-Rideal (E-R) reaction pathway via strong Si-O-Mn interfacial coupling, achieving a 100% NO conversion rate within the temperature range of 150–300 °C at a GHSV of 36000 h −1 and robust H 2 O/SO 2 tolerance. Furthermore, the universality of this way was verified in analogous Co-based and Cu-based systems. This work opens a new avenue for the design of efficient and durable MOF-derived denitration catalysts for non-electric industries. Carbothermic selective reduction of titanium concentrate ore for the preparation of titanium oxycarbide was presented and SiO 2 was found to be partly reduced during the process. The equilibrium relationship between Si dissolved in metallic Fe and SiO 2 existed in corresponding slag was analyzed thermodynamically, and then revealed by a series of designed equilibration experiments. The results are in accordance with the calculated values obtained from thermodynamic analysis and have well explained the phenomenon that part of SiO 2 is reduced during selective reduction processing of titanium concentrate ore.

Fe-based amorphous alloys have garnered significant attention as high-efficiency Fenton-like catalysts for wastewater treatment due to their unique disordered atomic structure and abundant active sites. However, challenges remain in achieving both ultra-fast degradation kinetics and facile catalyst recovery. In this study, magnetically recoverable Fe-Si-B amorphous nanoparticle catalysts were successfully prepared by the chemical reduction method, and Rhodamine B degradation experiments were carried out under a Fenton-like system. The structural, morphological, compositional, thermal, and magnetic properties of the Fe-Si-B nanoparticles were characterized before and after the catalytic reaction. The results demonstrated that the nanoparticles retained their amorphous structure after the catalytic reaction and exhibited excellent soft magnetic properties with a saturation magnetization of 94.41 emu/g. Under conditions of 5 mM H 2 O 2 , 70 °C temperature, and pH = 3, the catalyst achieved over 99 % degradation efficiency for 20 mg/L Rhodamine B within 2 min at a dosage of only 10 mg/L. The degradation process followed a pseudo-first-order kinetic model with an activation energy as low as 37.62 kJ/mol. Radical quenching experiments indicated that ·OH played a dominant role in the degradation reaction, and the synergistic effect between the amorphous structure and high-density active sites significantly enhanced the generation efficiency of ·OH, thereby improving catalytic performance.

Various strategies have shown promise for addressing the volume expansion issue of silicon (Si)-based anode materials and enhancing their electrochemical performance, such as nanocrystallization and the use of carbon-encapsulated nano-Si particles. However, the agglomeration of nano-Si particles remains a challenge, limiting their full potential. In this study, Zn-MOF-74 was employed to improve the dispersion of nano-Si powder in a carbon source. Subsequently, polyacrylonitrile was used in an electrospinning process to prepare an effective coating, followed by heat treatment to prepare nitrogen-doped Si/C flexible anode composites. The influence of the coating degree on electrochemical performance was investigated, and the Si/C-MOF-74/CNFs-2 composite prepared with 30.3 wt% nano-Si particles exhibited specific discharge capacities of 1030.1 mAh·g −1 after 150 cycles at 0.1 A·g −1 , 610.8 mAh·g −1 after 300 cycles at 1.0 A·g −1 , and 409.1 mAh·g −1 after 300 cycles at 2.0 A·g −1 .

Transition metal-based single-atom catalysts (TM-SACs) are promising alternatives to Au- and Ag-based electrocatalysts for CO production through CO2 reduction reaction. However, developing TM-SACs with high activity and selectivity at low overpotentials is challenging. Herein, a novel Fe-based SAC with Si doping (Fe-N-C-Si) was prepared, which shows a record-high electrocatalytic performance toward the CO2-to-CO conversion with exceptional current density (>350.0 mA cm−2) and ~100% Faradaic efficiency (FE) at the overpotential of <400 mV, far superior to the reported Fe-based SACs. Further assembling Fe-N-C-Si as the cathode in a rechargeable Zn-CO2 battery delivers an outstanding performance with a maximal power density of 2.44 mW cm−2 at an output voltage of 0.30 V, as well as high cycling stability and FE (>90%) for CO production. Experimental combined with theoretical analysis unraveled that the nearby Si dopants in the form of Si-C/N bonds modulate the electronic structure of the atomic Fe sites in Fe-N-C-Si to markedly accelerate the key pathway involving *CO intermediate desorption, inhibiting the poisoning of the Fe sites under high CO coverage and thus boosting the CO2RR performance. This work provides an efficient strategy to tune the adsorption/desorption behaviors of intermediates on single-atom sites to improve their electrocatalytic performance.

To address the critical limitations of natural bentonite, including restricted specific surface area and low cation exchange capacity (CEC) caused by interlayer impurities, this study proposes an in situ structural reconstruction strategy via simultaneous alkaline activation and aluminum doping. This approach directly transforms bentonite frameworks into a hierarchically porous SOD-type sodalite with an ultralow Si/Al ratio. The engineered material integrates three synergistic advantages: abundant surface hydroxyl groups, maximized CEC (saturation capacity, 242.56 mg/g), and a dual-scale pore architecture (micropores/mesopores). Combined experimental and computational analyses reveal the underlying mechanisms: The ultralow Si/Al ratio generates Al–O–Si bridging sites, strengthening electrostatic interactions with Pb2+ (adsorption energy: −1.356 eV) and reducing the migration energy barrier. Local charge redistribution at Al-rich domains optimizes Pb2+ occupation, achieving a stable Pb–O bond length of 2.35 Å. Hierarchical porosity facilitates rapid mass transfer, enabling 93% adsorption capacity retention after eight regeneration cycles. This work establishes a quantitative structure–performance relationship among Si/Al ratio, charge distribution, and adsorption efficiency through bentonite interlayer reconstruction. It provides fundamental insights for designing high-performance, low-cost heavy metal adsorbents, demonstrating a 2.7-fold increase in Pb2+ uptake compared to conventional bentonite, developing high-performance, low-cost heavy metal adsorbents.

Although ferrihydrite (Fh) exhibits good Sb(V) adsorption behavior, the instability of its amorphous structure limits its engineering applications. In this study, siliceous ferrihydrite (SiFh) was prepared via coprecipitation to resolve these limitations. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and SiFh aging tests revealed that the growth of Fh particles covered with Fe–O–Si links was inhibited while maintaining their amorphous structure. Meanwhile, the XRD patterns indicated that SiFh maintained excellent stability after five adsorption–desorption cycles. During the aging process, the added Si decreased the electrostatic interaction between SiFh and Sb(V), which weakened the affinity between Sb(V) and Fh; however, most of the Sb(V) still entered the Fe lattice after seven days of aging, which was favorable for Sb(V) recovery during reutilization. Furthermore, Sb(V) adsorbed from the simulated textile wastewater onto SiFh had the highest adsorption energy (E ads ), which meant its unstable inner-sphere complexation on the surface of SiFh. Meanwhile, the presence of SO 4 2− , NO 3 − , Ca 2+ , and Mg 2+ contributed to Sb(V) outer-sphere adsorption. Both of these factors were conducive to Sb(V) desorption. Hence, SiFh is a promising adsorbent owing to its facile preparation process, stability, and optimal regeneration properties.
