A pure zinc borate, Zn[B 12 O 14 (OH) 10 ], has been synthesized and characterized by XRD, FT-IR, simultaneous TG-DTA techniques, and chemical analysis. The molar enthalpy of solution of Zn[B 12 O 14 (OH) 10 ] (s) in 1 mol·dm −3 HCl(aq) was measured by microcalorimeter at T = 298.15 K. The molar enthalpy of solution of ZnO(s) in the mixture solvent of 2.00 cm 3 of 1 mol·dm −3 HCl(aq) and calculated amount of H 3 BO 3 was also measured. With the incorporation of the previously determined enthalpy of solution of H 3 BO 3 (s) in 1 mol·dm −3 HCl(aq), together with the use of the standard molar enthalpies of formation for ZnO(s), H 3 BO 3 (s), and H 2 O(l), the standard molar enthalpy of formation of −(9646.6 ± 9.6) kJ·mol −1 at T = 298.15 K was obtained on the basis of an appropriate thermochemical cycle. In addition, the molar enthalpy of formation of −9492.7 kJ·mol −1 for [B 12 O 14 (OH) 10 ] 2− has also been estimated by a group contribution method, which has been used to predict the Δ f H m θ of a series of transition metal borates of M[B 12 O 14 (OH) 10 ] (M II = Mn, Zn, Fe, Co, Ni). These estimated data have been used to further compare the stability of this series of transition metal borates.

Mn 2 O 3 -Na 2 WO 4 /SiO 2 is considered as the most promising catalyst for the oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) process; however, it only has a better catalytic performance over 800 °C. To improve its low-temperature performance, an attempt has been made to modify the Mn 2 O 3 -Na 2 WO 4 /SiO 2 catalyst using TiO 2 , MgO, Ga 2 O 3 , and ZrO 2 . Among the synthesized catalysts, the TiO 2 -modified Mn 2 O 3 -Na 2 WO 4 /SiO 2 catalyst shows markedly improved low-temperature OCM performance, achieving a high CH 4 conversion of ~23% and a good C 2 -C 3 selectivity of ~73% at 700 °C (the catalyst bed temperature), along with promising stability for at least 300 h without signs of deactivation. In comparison with the unmodified Mn 2 O 3 -Na 2 WO 4 /SiO 2 catalyst, the TiO 2 modification results in significant improvement in the low-temperature activity/selectivity, whereas the MgO modification has almost no impact and the Ga 2 O 3 and ZrO 2 modifications have a negative effect. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman results reveal that the formation of a MnTiO 3 phase and a MnTiO 3 -dominated catalyst surface is crucial for the improvement of the low-temperature activity/selectivity in the OCM process.

Unary and binary M 2+ (M=Mn, Co, Ni, Zn) substituted hollow Fe 3 O 4 were prepared by one-step solvothermal method. The crystallographic structure, morphology, element components and microwave absorbing properties of as-prepared products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) and vector network analyzer (VNA). The unary and binary Co 2+ substitution of hollow Fe 3 O 4 could result in a significant improvement of microwave absorption performance, including the expanding of effective absorption bandwidth, the thinner thickness and the increment of absorbing intensity. The sample of CoFe 2 O 4 could reach an optimal reflection loss of − 28.78 dB at 15.52 GHz under the thickness of 1.5 mm, moreover, the efficient absorption bandwidth (less than −10 dB) is expanded to 5.56 GHz which is most outstanding among these samples. The minimum reflection loss of Co 0.75 Zn 0.25 Fe 2 O 4 could reach − 49.60 dB at 9.88 GHz under the thickness of 2 mm. The as-prepared products could be used as microwave absorber with the advantages of strong absorption, broad bandwidth and thin thickness. The favorable performance could be attributed to the strong magnetic loss, dielectric loss and good impedance matching properties.

Fe3O4@MIL-100 (MIL, Material Institut Lavoisier) core–shell magnetic microspheres were prepared and applied as the sorbent for the magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) of N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET) in baby toilet water for the first time. The synthesized magnetic metal–organic frameworks were characterized by transmission electron microscope, infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. The functionalized magnetic microparticles showed excellent dispersibility in aqueous solution. The MSPE conditions were investigated in detail. Under the optimized conditions, an MSPE–high performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of DEET was developed. The method was linear in the concentration range from 5 to 500 μg L−1 for DEET in baby toilet water and good linearity (r2 > 0.9998) was obtained for the calibration curve. The limit of detection was 1.5 μg L−1. Both the intra-day and inter-day precisions (relative standard deviations) were <3%.

Tunable cation distribution in spinel MCo2O4 enhances surface redox activity. • Microwave-assisted hydrothermal yields ZCO nanosheets and CCO nanorods with defects. • Oxygen vacancies and mixed cations boost interfacial charge transfer kinetics. • CCO/SPE shows high sensitivity and low LOD for Carbendazim detection. • Strong Carbendazim adsorption on spinel surfaces confirmed by experiment and theory. Spinel cobaltites MCo 2 O 4 (M is a divalent metal ion) nanomaterials have emerged as promising electrocatalysts for electrochemical sensing owing to their tunable cation distribution and redox-active metal centers. In this work, ZnCo 2 O 4 (ZCO) nanosheets and CuCo 2 O 4 (CCO) nanorods were prepared using a simple microwave-assisted hydrothermal method and subsequently employed to modify screen-printed electrodes (SPEs) for carbendazim (CBZ) detection. Structural analysis revealed distinct cation arrangements within the spinel lattice, particularly CCO exhibited mixed Cu/Co occupancy and abundant oxygen vacancies. Both modified electrodes significantly enhanced the electrochemical oxidation of CBZ compared with bare SPE, primarily due to the catalytic activity of the Co 3+ /Co 2+ redox couple. Notably, the CCO/SPE demonstrated superior sensing performance, arising from the synergistic effects of Cu 2+ /Cu + redox activity, high defect density, and one-dimensional morphology that promoted charge transfer and mass diffusion. The CCO/SPE sensor delivered promising analytical performance, featuring two linear ranges (0.1–10 and 10–500 µM), a detection limit of 0.07 µM, and a sensitivity of 5.97 µA µM −1 cm −2 . Combined experimental and theoretical analyses suggest strong CBZ adsorption on the MCo 2 O 4 spinel surface, highlighting spinel oxides as efficient electrocatalysts for CBZ pesticide sensing. The increasing demands in optoelectronic applications have driven the advancement of organic–inorganic hybrid metal halides (OIHMHs), owing to their exceptional optical transparency and high luminescence performance. In this work, three zero-dimensional OIMH single crystals of (C7H18N2)MBr4 (C7H18N2 = 1-propylpiperazine, M = Cd, Zn, and Mn) were prepared via a facile saturated crystallization method with adjustable luminescence properties. (C7H18N2)MnBr4 displays intensive green light emission with the highest photoluminescence yield (PLQY) of 54.93% originating from the d–d transition of Mn2+. Due to filled d orbital configurations of Zn2+ and Cd2+, (C7H18N2)CdBr4 and (C7H18N2)ZnBr4 exhibited blue light owing to their stronger self-trapped excitons (STEs) recombination. Furthermore, (C7H18N2)CdBr4 and (C7H18N2)ZnBr4 exhibited another red luminescence band after grinding, originating from defect-induced STEs. In addition, due to their excellent PL performance, the white LED fabricated based on (C7H18N2)MnBr4 and (C7H18N2)ZnBr4 has demonstrated a high color rendering index (CRI) of 88.2. This work not only provides a strategy for optimizing the photoluminescence performance by modulating metal ions within the same crystal structure of OIHMHs, but also provides insights into both intrinsic STE emission and the design of high-performance luminescent materials.

The conversion of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) to 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) via aerobic oxidation is a crucial step toward transforming biomass into sustainable bio-based energy materials. In this study, a mesoporous Au-CoO x /m-CeO 2 catalyst was prepared using vacuum-assisted in situ self-assembly to realise this conversion. The well-defined mesostructure, as confirmed by transmission electron microscopy and nitrogen adsorption–desorption analyses, significantly enhanced active site accessibility and facilitated reactant diffusion, thereby accelerating the selective oxidation of HMF to produce FDCA. This catalytic system achieved complete conversion of HMF and an FDCA yield of 99.89 ( ± 0.03)% under ambient pressure at 90 °C. Using Au/m-CeO 2 or Au-CoO x /CeO 2 as catalysts under identical conditions, the FDCA yields were limited to 56.8 ( ± 1.9)% and 78.1 ( ± 0.8)%, respectively. The optimal catalyst also demonstrated outstanding durability, retaining 93.9 ( ± 0.7)% FDCA yield after 18 reuse cycles. This remarkable activity was attributed to the integrated Au-CoO x /m-CeO 2 architecture, wherein a synergistic metal–oxide interaction coupled with the ordered mesoporous CeO 2 framework collectively optimised the reaction–diffusion process, driving efficient HMF oxidation. This study therefore provides a new perspective for designing efficient catalysts for the conversion of HMF to FDCA, which is conducive to the conversion of biomass resources.

In this study, a series of Ionic liquid-derived carbon dots (IL-CDs) were synthesized by microwave method from L-histidine and imidazolium-based ILs included 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride and 1-decyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride. Their structures were elucidated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), Ultraviolet–visible spectrum (UV–vis), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The inhibition efficacy of IL-CDs on 45# steel within a 298 K, 1 M HCl solution system was investigated employing various techniques, including electrochemical analysis, weight loss measurement, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and molecular dynamics simulations. The microstructure and surface properties IL-CDs were obtained through a series of characterizations; and their corrosion inhibition performance for 45# steel was evaluated using weight loss and electrochemical methods in 1 M HCl solution. The electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) results showed that the corrosion inhibition efficiency of CDs in 1 M HCl solution could reach 98.2% at a concentration of 15 ppm, and 95% even at an increased temperature of 313 K. The strong adsorption of IL-CDs follows the Langmuir adsorption model, and the Gibbs free energy increases with the chain length of ionic liquids. The adsorption behavior of the IL-CDs on the carbon steel surface shows the chemisorption feature. Graphical The corrosion inhibition mechanism involves carbon dots that adsorb on the surface of carbon steel to form a hydrophobic film, which suppresses hydrogen evolution at the cathode and oxidation reactions at the anode.

Objective To explore safe and effective precision management strategies for breast cancer based on Chinese herbal medicine, and to provide evidence for individualized therapy. Methods Lycorine, an alkaloid from Lycoris radiata , was investigated for its anti-breast cancer effects in Michigan cancer foundation (MCF)-7 cells. miRNA high-throughput sequencing was performed to identify differentially expressed miRNAs after lycorine treatment, followed by gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) analyses to determine key regulatory pathways. The expression of miR-203a-3p and mitogen‑activated protein kinase (MAPK)/extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathway-related proteins was examined by real-time quantitative PCR (qPCR) and Western blotting. Cell proliferation and cell cycle distribution were assessed using cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay and flow cytometry. A dual-luciferase reporter assay was conducted to confirm the targeting relationship between miR-203a-3p and Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS). Results The miRNA sequencing demonstrated that lycorine dose-dependently downregulated miR-203a-3p in MCF-7 cells. GO and KEGG analyses identified the MAPK/ERK signaling pathway as the principal pathway involved in lycorine-mediated inhibition of cell proliferation. qPCR and Western blotting confirmed that lycorine reduced the expression of miR-203a-3p and suppressed key components of the MAPK/ERK pathway at both mRNA and protein levels, including KRAS, v-Raf murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B1 (BRAF), mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase 1/2 (MEK1/2), ERK1/2, as well as phosphorylated rapidly accelerated fibrosarcoma (p-RAF), p-MEK1/2, and p-ERK1/2. Functional assays showed that lycorine treatment or miR-203a-3p inhibition significantly suppressed MCF-7 cell proliferation and induced M−phase cell cycle arrest, whereas miR-203a-3p overexpression reversed these inhibitory effects. Dual-luciferase reporter assay verified that miR-203a-3p directly targeted KRAS. Hierarchical clustering further demonstrated coordinated regulation of MAPK/ERK pathway-related genes and proteins by lycorine, with high-dose lycorine producing effects comparable to direct miR-203a-3p inhibition. Conclusions The findings imply that miR-203a-3p has potential as a therapeutic target for the treatment of breast cancer. Furthermore, lycorine exerts its anti-tumor effects by modulating the miR-203a-3p/MAPK signaling axis, thereby providing a promising strategy for precision medicine in breast cancer treatment.

Manganese residue is a dangerous industrial by-product and has traditionally been stored. Conventional harmless treatment can stabilize Mn2+, but its resource utilization is relatively difficult due to the complex composition of manganese residue. This study proposes a sustainable development approach for synthesizing high-performance M-type ferrite BaFe11.6Mn0.4O19 from manganese residue rich in Fe and Mn for microwave absorption. By optimizing roasting conditions, we controlled oxygen vacancy concentration, enhancing the ferrite’s dielectric and magnetic properties for superior microwave absorption. By simulating the composition of rare earth solid waste, rare earth elements La2O3 and CeO2 were incorporated into ferrite. Further optimize the loss matching mechanism and shielding effect. Characterization techniques confirmed a multiphase-phase M-type ferrite structure with a minimum reflection loss of -33.42 dB. It is clarified that the main reason for the performance improvement mechanism after the incorporation of rare earths is that the formation of new phases and the appearance of solid solutions promote the synergistic effect in polarization and electromagnetic energy dissipation. This method provides a scalable model for industrial waste recycling. This method provides a scalable model for industrial waste recycling.

Improving the catalytic performance of nanozymes is currently one of the hot topics in the field of analytical chemistry. Metal ions can be an ideal way for the regulation of enzyme activity because of its unique advantages. Although great advances have been achieved, the efficiency and selectivity of nanozymes still has big room to improve. Herein, we found that the copper ions (Cu2+) could selectively and sensitively regulate the peroxidase-like activity of flower-like transition-metal-based material MMoO4 (M = Co, Ni). The peroxidase-like activity of MMoO4 could obviously be activated by Cu2+, which accelerated the effective oxidation of common chromogenic substrates represented by 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine. The catalytic activity of MMoO4–Cu2+ strongly relies on the reaction temperature and the pH of solution. Moreover, the kinetic behavior follows the Michaelis–Menten kinetics. Then, a simple, sensitive, and selective colorimetric strategy using CoMoO4 as the probe for detecting Cu2+ was established. The obvious color change can be discerned by the naked eye or detected by the absorption spectroscopic method. In the range of Cu2+ concentration of 0.1–24 μM, the absorbance at 652 nm exhibited a linear relationship to the concentration of Cu2+. The low detection limit of our method could achieve 0.024 μM, and our strategy can also be well applied in the real sample with good recoveries. Our work implied the promising use of nanozymes in heavy metal ion detection.

In this study, the F-doped poly-m-phenyleneisophthalamide (PMIA) solution was synthesized by low temperature polymerization method and spun to be three-dimensional nanofibrous membranes by electrospinning. The Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy investigations verified that F was successfully doped in PMIA membrane. The X-ray diffraction patterns showed the crystallinity degree of PMIA membrane decreased with the addition of F. The morphology, pore size and aperture distribution tests manifested that the average diameter of F-PMIA fibers became finer and their distribution was more uniform than these of PMIA fibers. The electrolyte uptake, preserving liquid electrolyte, thermal stability and shrinkage resistance of the F-dopoed membrane were also significantly enhanced than that of pure PMIA membrane. The F-PMIA membrane could be acted as matrix to prepare gel polymer electrolyte. Finally, the F-doped PMIA membrane was used in the assembled coin cells to test the properties including the electronic conductivity , battery interfacial characteristics, electrochemical stability windows and cycle performances of battery. The lower electronic conductivity and interfacial resistance , higher electrochemical stability window (5.7 V) of F-doped PMIA membranes were obtained when comparing to the pure PMIA and commercial polyethylene membrane. The cell exhibited high first-cycle discharge capacity with 145 mAh g −1 and excellent cycling stability with good capacity retention of 93.1% and coulombic efficiency of 99.3% after 100 cycles.
