Erythromycin fermentation residue (EFR) is the precipitation of fermentative biowaste used for extracting erythromycin (ERY) and may be disposed via land application after heat-activated persulfate (PS) oxidation treatment. However, the effects of the treated EFR as a soil amendment on soil chemical properties and the potential resistance risks caused by introduced ERY remain unclear. Here, a laboratory soil incubation experiment was performed to investigate the soil pH, salinity, introduced antibiotics, antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) and mobile genetic elements (MGEs), as well as bacterial community structure in the treated EFR-amended soil. The results indicated that pH in treated EFR-amended soil decreased firstly and then increased. The salinity of soil increased but soil was still non-saline soil. In addition, the introduced ERY in the treated EFR-amended soil decreased with the half-life of 12.3 d. Moreover, the relative abundances of ERY resistance genes and MGEs in the treated EFR-amended soil were much lower than those in the control at the end of incubation. Bacterial community structure in the treated EFR-amended soil converged to similar structure in control soil after 49 d incubation. Our results showed that heat-activated PS oxidation treatment of EFR prior to application to soil might be in favor of limiting the spread of ERY resistance genes and MGEs.

Erythromycin could be used to treat various bacterial infection, but it was harmful to the colonic microflora. Therefore, it is highly desirable to develop a fluorescence probe that could selectively and sensitively detect Erythromycin in pure water. In this work, a fluorescent probe named EHMC , which exhibited aggregation-induced emission (AIE) characteristic in solid state and water/EtOH binary solvent was developed for “turn on” sensing Erythromycin in pure water with high selectivity and sensitivity (detection limit: 1.78 × 10 −8 M). Also, there are fewer interference from other antibiotics in the detection process of probe EHMC for Erythromycin. Moreover, probe EHMC could as a portable test strips for highly selective detection of Erythromycin and identification of different concentrations of Erythromycin. In addition, living cells imaging experiments displayed that probe EHMC could detect Erythromycin in A549 cells and BEAS-2B cells successfully. Combined with the theoretical calculation results The sensing mechanisms that the C O in Erythromycin and OH in EHMC formed intermolecular hydrogen bond and further formed new aggregates were confirmed by job’ plot, 1 H NMR, FT-IR, ESI-MS, DLS and TEM and DFT calculation.

In this study, the hexane extract of Asters tataricus was used as the carbon source, and ethylenediamine and 4-bromophenylene diamine were selected as dopants to prepare nitrogen and bromine co-doped carbon dots (N,Br-CDs) by the hydrothermal synthesis method. The obtained fluorescent probe has a uniform particle size distribution, good water solubility and high stability, with a fluorescence quantum yield of 48.43%. Under 420 nm excitation conditions, N,Br-CDs exhibited the strongest fluorescence emission at 513 nm, indicating that the sensing system was in the “ON” state. Subsequently, TA was introduced as a quencher to induce static quenching of the N,Br-CDs system, significantly weakening the fluorescence intensity and switching the sensing system from “ON” to “OFF”. Finally, after EM was introduced into the N,Br-CDs/TA system, EM preferentially formed a complex with TA and weakened its quenching effect on the quantum dots, thereby achieving fluorescence recovery and returning the sensing system from the “OFF” state to the “ON” state. Based on the above mechanism, an “ON-OFF-ON” fluorescence sensing system with N,Br-CDs as the luminescent substrate was constructed for the sensitive detection of TA and EM. The results showed that the system exhibited good linear response to TA, with the linear ranges being 1.50–22.94 μM and 34.88–348.42 μM, respectively, and the limits of detection being 0.2168 μM and 2.1797 μM, respectively (LOD, S/N = 3). The linear range for EM was 1.93–377.08 μM, with a detection limit of 0.6693 μM. Furthermore, the sensor system was capable of quantitatively determining TA and EM in human serum, Huangshui River water, and milk matrices, demonstrating its potential for broad application in environmental monitoring and bioanalysis.

Simultaneous determination of erythromycin (Ery) and hemoglobin (Hb) is of great significance for clinical diagnosis of many diseases. ZnO nanorods modified with Au nanoparticles were fabricated as an interface on the flexible carbon cloth (CC) and utilized to simultaneously determine Ery and Hb by a simple electrochemical method. The results demonstrated that Au/ZnO/CC displayed excellent analytical performance for Ery with a low detection limit of 3.38 × 10−7 mg/L and a linear range from 1 × 10−6 to 1 × 10−1 mg/L. At the same time, the sensor also showed a sensitive response to Hb with a low detection limit of 2.07 × 10−7 mg/L and a linear range from 1 × 10−6 to 1 × 10−1 mg/L. This work provides a viable approach for designing a flexible electrode and sensitive simultaneous determination of Ery and Hb.
