A flexible Ag NWs/WO 3- x /Au memristor is successfully fabricated. • The device achieves an ultra-low energy consumption of 3.89 fJ per pulse. • The device achieves a competitive ECG recognition accuracy of 94.3%. • The device exhibits robust mechanical flexibility. The simultaneous achievement of high mechanical flexibility, ultra-low energy consumption, and high recognition accuracy remains a major challenge for wearable intelligent devices. Here, we report a flexible memristive device capable of emulating biological synaptic functions, fabricated with a spin-coated flexible Ag nanowire (NW) bottom electrode, an electrodeposited conformal WO 3- x coating as the functional layer, and an evaporation-defined Au top electrode. With a stacked Ag NWs/WO 3- x /Au architecture and strong interfacial bonding from the conformal coating, the device exhibits robust mechanical flexibility and cycling stability. Notably, the device achieves an ultra-low average energy consumption of merely 3.89 fJ per spike, attributed to the electrodeposition process that generates abundant short-range continuous oxygen vacancies, which shorten the ion migration path and lower the diffusion barrier, thereby enabling conductive filament formation at low voltages. When applied to electrocardiogram (ECG) signal recognition, the device achieves an accuracy of 94.3%, with negligible performance degradation after 2000 bending cycles, underscoring its robust flexibility. These advantages position this memristor as a promising building block for wearable ECG monitoring systems. Download: Download high-res image (221KB) Download: Download full-size image

The Cu@Ag core-shell particles can be employed as conductive phase in conductor paste. Ag shell is designed to protect Cu core from oxidation. To obtain thin, dense and uniform Ag shell on Cu core, a novel electroless Ag plating process for Ag coating is developed. In the process, acacia gum (AG) acts as surfactant and dispersant, manipulating Ag deposition on Cu slowly and accurately. Benefit from the reduction potential difference between Ag and Cu, a thin reduced Ag shell is plated on Cu core with layer growth mode firstly. Then, inhomogeneous surface energy of Ag shell commands its following growth with an island mode. Finally, these Ag islands grow to contact and bond together, resulting in an uniform and dense Ag shell for Cu@Ag. After optimization, the Cu@Ag particle shows excellent oxidation resistant. A mass increase of only 0.5% is observed in it at 300°C. Meanwhile, the Cu@Ag with regular structure also presents remarkable volume conductivity. Over all, the spectacular performance of prepared Cu@Ag powder indicates its promising application in conductive paste.

We develop a suspended Ag-SiO 2 composite nanopore array by a self-assembly strategy, which exhibits significant SERS effects with plenty of 3D hot spots. The Ag-SiO 2 composite nanopore array is composed of Ag nanoparticles isolated by SiO 2 , which shows strong electromagnetic coupling between discrete silver nanoparticles and along each nanopore structure, as confirmed by COMSOL simulations. SERS observations for the prepared Ag-SiO 2 composite nanopore array show an ultra-low detection limit, excellent sensitivity, high uniformity, and stability, which is successfully applied for pyridaben detection of with the detection limit 1.19 × 10 –10 M.

The highly sensitive and rapid detection of n-butanol holds great significance for environmental protection and human health. In this study, Ag-decorated ZnO/SnO 2 (AZSO) nanofibers were fabricated via electrospinning followed by an Ag decoration process. Compared with the undecorated ZnO/SnO 2 nanofibers (ZSO), the as-prepared AZSO sensor exhibited enhanced gas-sensing performance, as its response to 30 ppm n-butanol increased from 29.68 to 37.15. Meanwhile, at the optimal operating temperature of 150 °C, it demonstrates an ultra-fast response time of only 1 s, and its recovery time is drastically shortened from 1776 s to 227 s. In addition, AZSO exhibited stronger selectivity towards n-butanol, accompanied by excellent repeatability and long-term stability. The enhanced gas-sensing performance of AZSO was attributed to the synergistic effect of the Ag spillover effect, the ZnO/SnO 2 n-n heterojunction, and the interfacial electron transfer.

We introduce a morphology-adaptive Au-Ag nanowire elastronic platform that conforms to diverse geometries while enabling multimodal optical-electrical sensing. Using a facile yet versatile template-guided growth strategy, vertically aligned Au-Ag nanowire arrays are directly fabricated on 1D nano/microneedles, 2D elastic films, and 3D porous architectures. On 2D substrates, the arrays act as FlexoSERS interfaces with high sensitivity, uniformity (RSD = 7.2%), and durability, maintaining stable SERS signals under 100% strain and after 2500 cycles. On 3D porous sponges, the NWs serve as dry bioelectrical electrodes, enabling stable electrocardiogram (ECG) and electromyogram (EMG) monitoring with long-term stability. Continuous ECG recording, combined with deep learning analysis, enables accurate classification between sleep and wake states. Meanwhile, the EMG signals capture subtle motor activities such as finger bending, typing, and clicking. By uniting strain-tolerant FlexoSERS with reliable bioelectrical sensing across 1D-3D substrates, this platform provides a robust material foundation and a scalable route toward next-generation wearable health monitors, intelligent sleep evaluation, and human-machine interfaces.

GO/Ag SERS substrate was fabricated via self-assembly of Ag NPs and graphene oxide. • GO/Ag SERS composite fiber substrate achieves 10 −11 M visual detection limit for 4-ATP and MG. • GO/Ag SERS substrate shows high uniformity, stability and 10.2% attenuation in 15 days. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has emerged as a powerful technique for ultrasensitive molecular detection. This study develops a SERS substrate based on graphene oxide‑silver (Ag/GO) composite optical fibers, enabling highly sensitive molecular detection. The graphene oxide layer promotes target molecule adsorption through π-π stacking interactions and surface oxygen functional groups, while providing antioxidant protection for silver nanoparticles. Performance characterization using 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4-MBA) demonstrated excellent repeatability, uniformity, and temporal stability. In addition, the visual detection limit of 4-aminothiophenol (4-ATP) and malachite green (MG) on the fiber optic substrate reaches 10 −11 mol/L. Based on the criterion of signal-to-noise ratio S/N ≥ 3, the quantitative detection limits of the two are 1.93 × 10 −12 mol/L (4-ATP) and 3.8 × 10 −12 mol/L (MG), respectively. These results indicate the application potential of the Ag/GO-functionalized optical fiber SERS substrate in trace analysis. Environmental implication This study employs an Ag/GO composite fiber SERS substrate for the in-situ and rapid detection of malachite green (MG) and 4-ATP in water, without requiring large amounts of organic reagents or causing secondary pollution. MG and 4-ATP have high toxic, resistant to degradation, and prone to bioaccumulation, posing risks to aquatic organisms and accumulating along the food chain. This SERS substrate provides a green approach for early warning of trace pollutants in water environments, contributing to the safeguarding of water ecological security and pollution control. Arc-induced erosion in electrical contacts poses a significant challenge to the reliability of power systems. Traditional particulate reinforcements in silver-based contact materials suffer from hydrodynamic instability and segregation within the molten pool, compromising their performance. In this study, we introduce a novel “skeleton effect” approach by engineering the reinforcement morphology of La 0.5 Sr 0.5 Co 0.84 Cu 0.16 O 3- δ (LSCCu 0.16 ) within a silver matrix. We synthesized LSCCu 0.16 in three distinct morphologies: fibers, sheets, and particles, and systematically investigated their effects on arc erosion resistance through electrical life testing and Finite Element Method (FEM) simulations. Our results show that while particles segregate due to buoyancy-driven flotation and fibers are susceptible to stress-induced failure, the sheet morphology forms a rigid skeletal network that effectively constrains the molten pool. This network suppresses liquid splashing, resulting in a 111% increase in electrical service life (15,893 ± 215 cycles) and significantly improved contact resistance stability compared to particulate-based composites. The study demonstrates that transforming reinforcement architecture from simple particle dispersion to interlocking skeletal structures can be a transformative strategy for designing next-generation erosion-resistant electrical contacts.

Precise control over product selectivity in heterogeneous catalysis remains a key challenge due to the complex interplay of structural and electronic factors. Here, we demonstrate delicate tuning of product distribution in 1,3-butadiene semi-hydrogenation by engineering the size and composition of Pd-Ag nanostructures. By systematically decoupling size and electronic effects, we identify critical selectivity descriptors and establish structure-selectivity correlations across both monometallic and bimetallic series. The thresholds of ensemble size and Pd valence state for the formation of distinct products are experimentally determined. Integrating kinetic analysis, chemisorption studies, and density functional theory calculations, we show that increased ensemble size and Ag incorporation weaken 1-butene binding and elevate hydrogenation barriers, enabling selective formation of 1-butene (up to 66%) over thermodynamically favored 2-butenes. These insights reveal the fundamental roles of geometric and electronic modulation in governing selectivity and offer a generalizable framework for the rational design of multifunctional bimetallic catalysts.

Self-trapped excitons are prevalent in metal halide perovskites (MHPs) characterized by soft lattices and strong exciton-phonon coupling, emitting photons with broadband emission and large Stokes shifts, rendering them particularly well-suited for applications in light-emitting diodes. But their photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQY) are limited by both high exciton binding energy and halogen-vacancy-associated non-radiative recombination. Here, we show that PLQY could be enhanced by a factor of 5.6 from 16% to 89% through doping trace Ag into Cs 2 NaBiCl 6 double perovskites, superior to those of previous Cs 2 NaBiCl 6 -based emitters. Experimental and theoretical studies reveal that trace Ag-initiated covalent interactions could reduce the exciton binding energy by 0.12 eV due to local symmetry breaking, thus improving the photoexcitation process. Also, this covalent interaction could passivate Cl vacancy defects, suppressing non-radiative recombination. Therefore, Cs 2 NaBiCl 6 : 0.7% Ag + could accumulate active self-trapped excitons to obtain high PLQY. Assembly of near-infrared light-emitting diodes using Cs 2 NaBiCl 6 : 0.7% Ag + illustrates their valuable applications in nondestructive spectral analysis and night vision illumination. This work shows an effective strategy of improving photoemission of MHPs with high PLQY for advanced optoelectronic applications.

Marine biofouling is a common issue that concerns safety, cost, and ecosystem stability. Alginate, a commonly used filler in functional coatings and membranes, is also widely researched for biomedical applications. This study presents a novel approach for developing advanced self-polishing coatings by combining MXene nanosheets with sodium alginate (SA) and silver ions (Ag+). SA was uniformly deposited onto the MXene surface via oxidative copolymerization of dopamine and dopamine-sodium alginate (DA-SA), followed by the loading of Ag+ through ion exchange to obtain the MXene-SA-Ag composite. The resulting functionalized MXene nanosheets─MXene-SA and MXene-SA-Ag─showed enhanced antifouling performance due to the synergistic effect of the components. Specifically, the antibacterial efficiency of MXene-SA against the E. coli was 94.5%, while MXene-SA-Ag exhibited antibacterial rates exceeding 99% for both E. coli and S. aureus. The composite self-polishing coatings were then fabricated by incorporating functionalized MXene nanosheets with presynthesized self-polishing (SP) resin. The obtained nanocomposite coatings presented enhanced hydrophilicity, multifaceted antifouling mechanisms, and outstanding antifouling performances. The removal rates were above 90% against both bacteria and microalgae. Compared to conventional coatings, this novel design offers a copper-free alternative with remarkable antifouling performance.

Silver nanowires (AgNWs)-based transparent conductive films (TCFs) have emerged as highly promising alternatives to indium tin oxide (ITO) for flexible optoelectronic devices, but still face the challenge of electrical stability of AgNWs. Herein, highly electrically stable Ag-Au core-shell nanowires-based TCFs (Au@AgNWs TCFs) were fabricated by slot-die coating. Gold is uniformly grown on the surface of AgNWs by in situ reduction to construct Ag-Au core-shell structure with a gold shell thickness of 10 nm. The resultant Au@AgNWs TCF has superior optoelectronic properties with a transmittance of 92 % at 550 nm and a sheet resistance of 45 Ω/sq. Compared to the uncoated AgNWs TCF, the Au@AgNWs TCF shows slightly reduced optoelectronic performance, but exhibits significantly enhanced electrical stability. Under continuous operation at 12 V, the resistance of Au@AgNWs TCF only increases by 1.4 times after 18 h, whereas the uncoated AgNWs TCF fails after just 30 min. DFT calculations on the Ag (100)/Au (111) interface confirm the structural stability with a strong adhesion of 1.49 J m −2 and a low interfacial energy of 0.047 J m −2 . Differential charge density and DOS reveal significant charge transfer and the formation of an interfacial dipole field to strengthen interfacial bonding and suppress electromigration. CI-NEB calculations show that the Au layer significantly increases the migration barriers for Ag atoms, suppressing migration and enhancing the stability of the interface.

This article reports the important role of crystalline phases of tellurite glass in enhancing the performance of photovoltaic Ag pastes. It was found that Pb 2 Te 3 O 7 and PbTeO 3 crystals had been grown in tellurite glass after heat treatment. When the crystallized glass was used in photovoltaic Ag pastes, the energy conversion efficiency of crystalline Si solar cells had increased by 0.52 to 0.73 percentage points. This enhancement was attributed to the significant increase in open-circuit opening voltage and filling factor of the cells. Microscopic observation of the Ag–Si contact interface revealed that during the sintering of the Ag paste, the crystallization of the glass resulted in a delayed sintering and a shorter reaction time, which may protect the Si surface from excessive etching. By comparison between Pb 2 Te 3 O 7 and PbTeO 3 cases, it was inferred that the ratio of PbO and TeO 2 in the crystalline phase not only affected the sintering of the Ag paste on the Si surface, but also the size, number, and distribution of Ag crystallites at the Ag–Si interface. To further elucidate this issue, three binary glasses with PbO-TeO 2 ratios of 1:3, 1:1 and 2:1, respectively, were investigated. The results show that with the increase of PbO proportion, on the one hand, the softening temperature of the glass increased and the fluidity decreased, and on the other hand, the glass dissolved less Ag, precipitated more Ag, and enhanced the erosion of the Si surface. Current study shows that glass crystallization can be an optional means in addition to glass composition, which can be used to more finely control the sintering behavior of Ag paste on the Si surface.
