Cage-like P4S3 molecule as promising anode with high capacity and cycling stability for Li+/Na+/K+ storage

Denghu Wei,Jie Yin,Zhicheng Ju,Suyuan Zeng,Haibo Li,Wei Zhao,Yanyan Wei,Huaiyong Li

Phosphorus sulfide cage molecule based on P 4 S 3 was investigated for the first time as anode material for the storage of alkali metal ions (Li + , Na + , K + ). Such P 4 S 3 sample was obtained in a large scale by a simple heating reaction of low-cost rep P and S. X-ray diffraction refinement analysis indicates that P 4 S 3 sample possesses a defect rich molecule crystal structure with S/P atom ratio of 0.74. The P 4 S 3 anode delivered a high reversible capacity of 1266 mAh g −1 for lithium-ion batteries at 0.1 A g −1 and good cycling performance. Experimental results demonstrated that the P 4 S 3 anode undergoes a reversible Li-storage reaction of P 4 S 3  + 11 Li +  + 11 e − ↔ 0.5 Li 4 P 2 S 6  + 3 Li 3 P during cycling. It also exhibited a high capacity of 1002 and 378 mAh g −1 at 0.1 A g −1 for Na + and K + storage, respectively. These properties suggest the promising application of P 4 S 3 anode in high energy batteries.

Solubility Measurement and Correlation of Doxycycline Hyclate in 10 Pure Solvents and Mixtures Solvents at 278.15–323.15 K

Yanmin Shen,Wenju Liu,Chen Sun,Paifeng Shi

The solid–liquid phase equilibrium solubility of doxycycline hyclate (DH) in 10 pure organic solvents and cosolvent mixtures DMF (1) + ethanol (2), DMSO (1) + ethanol (2) and acetone (1) + ethanol (2) at a temperature range from 278.15 to 323.15 K was measured and discussed. The results indicated that the experimental mole fraction (x) of DH in 10 neat solvents followed this order: acrylic acid > acetic acid > 1-butanol > 1-pentanol > tetrahydrofuran > isobutyl alcohol > isopropyl alcohol> propanoic acid > acetone > acetonitrile, and temperature affected obviously the solubility especially in acetic acid. Moreover, the experimental mole fraction (x) of DH increased with mass concentration rising of DMF or DMSO in DMF (1) + ethanol (2) or DMSO (1) + ethanol (2), and decreased gradually with mass concentration rising of acetone in acetone (1) + ethanol (2). The experimental solubility in all solvents was correlated better by the modified Apelblat model according to lower values of RAD and RMSD.

Measurement of Speed of Sound in Methyl Hexanoate from 297.83 to 588.07 K and up to 10 MPa

Junshuai Chen,Qi Zhou,Taotao Zhan,Maogang He,Ying Zhang

Methyl hexanoate, which was found to be the simplest methyl ester to present a strong cool flame behavior, is expected to be one of the main components of biodiesels. Details of the experimental speeds of sound in methyl hexanoate are scarce up to now. Therefore, the speed of sound in liquid methyl hexanoate was measured by the Brillouin light scattering method in the temperature range of 297.83–588.07 K and at pressures of up to 10 MPa. The relative uncertainty of the speed of sound experimental system is estimated to be less than 0.43%, and when considering the impurity of the sample, the relative uncertainty is 0.47%. The variation of the speed of sound with the temperature and pressure was analyzed. Besides, the correlation for the speed of sound as a function of temperature and pressure is presented based on the experimental data. The absolute average of relative deviation between the experimental data and the calculated results is 0.44%.

A Facile Starch-Assisted Sol–Gel Method to Synthesize K-Doped Li2ZrO3 Sorbents with Excellent CO2 Capture Properties

Qiang Xiao,Xiaodan Tang,Yijun Zhong,Weidong Zhu

A facile starch-assisted sol–gel method combined with freeze-drying technique has been developed to synthesize K-doped Li 2 ZrO 3 sorbents. SEM, TEM, and XRD techniques have been applied to characterize the morphology and structure of the synthesized K-doped Li 2 ZrO 3 samples. The CO 2 capture-regeneration properties of the prepared K-doped Li 2 ZrO 3 sample were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis at different CO 2 partial pressures. The K-doped Li 2 ZrO 3 synthesized using the starch-assisted sol–gel method combined with the freeze-drying technique shows excellent CO 2 capture properties. At 823 K and a CO 2 partial pressure of 0.25 bar, the uptake of CO 2 reaches 22 wt% within 20 min, which is approximately 87% of the stoichiometric sorption capacity (25.3 wt%) of CO 2 in the K-doped Li 2 ZrO 3 with a K:Li:Zr composition of 0.2:1.6:1 in molar ratio. Furthermore, the sorbent shows a good stability, confirmed using capture-regeneration cycles.

Targeted delivery of ginsenoside compound K using TPGS/PEG-PCL mixed micelles for effective treatment of lung cancer

Lei Yang,Zhenghai Zhang,Jian Hou,Xin Jin,Zhongcheng Ke,Dan Liu,Mei Du,Xiaobing Jia,Huixia Lv

Ginsenoside compound K (CK) is one of the effective ingredients in antitumor composition of ginsenoside. However, the poor water solubility and significant efflux have limited the widespread clinical use of CK. In this study, preparation of novel CK-loaded d -alpha-tocopheryl polyethylene glycol 1,000 succinate/poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(ε-caprolactone) mixed micelles (CK-M) is discussed to solve the above problems. Particle size, zeta potential, and morphology were characterized using dynamic light scattering and transmission electron microscopy. CK-M are spherical shaped with an average particle size of 53.07±1.31 nm with high drug loading of 11.19%±0.87% and entrapment efficiency of 94.60%±1.45%. Water solubility of CK was improved to 3.78±0.09 mg/mL, which was ~107.35 times higher than free CK. A549 and PC-9 cells were used to evaluate in vitro cytotoxicity and cellular uptake. IC 50 values of CK-M in A549 and PC-9 cells (24 h) were 25.43±2.18 and 18.35±1.90 μg/mL, respectively. Enhanced cellular uptake of CK-M was observed in both cells. Moreover, CK-M promoted tumor cell apoptosis, inhibited tumor cell invasion, metastasis, and efflux through regulation of Bax, Bcl-2, matrix metalloproteinase-2, Caspase-3, and P-glycoprotein. In vivo imaging indicated that CK-M has excellent tumor targeting effect within 24 h, and the relative tumor inhibition rate of CK-M was 52.04%±4.62% compared with control group ( P <0.01). Thus, CK-M could be an appropriate delivery agent for enhanced solubility and antitumor effect of CK.

Densities, viscosities and volumetric properties of BF3·anisole and BF3·phenetole complexes at T = (283.15 to 303.15)K

Zhenyu Bao,Weijiang Zhang,Yinglai Chen,Jiao Xu,Xianbao Cui

The densities and viscosities of BF 3 ·anisole and BF 3 ·phenetole complex were determined at T   =   (283.15 to 303.15)K under atmospheric pressure. The molar ratios of the complexes ranged from 0.0080 to 0.9588 for BF 3 ·anisole and 0.0090 to 0.9850 for BF 3 ·phenetole. The measured densities and viscosities of both complexes were well correlated by modified Guimarães' equation and extended Jones–Dole equation, respectively. The apparent molar volumes were calculated using densities, and the limiting partial molar volumes were obtained by regression analysis. Arrhenius-type equation was adopted to get viscous flow activation energy through data fitting of viscosity values.

Enhancing the K-resistance of MnOx catalysts via Ce and Nb co-doping for low-temperature NOx elimination

Yanping Yang,Shengchen Li,Shunli Shi,Jie Hu,Zexi Xuchen,Shunmin Ding,Dan zhao,Shengjun Deng,Weiming Xiao,Shuhua Wang,Chao Chen

Manganese oxide (MnO x ) catalysts are promising for low-temperature NH 3 -Selective Catalytic Reduction (NH 3 -SCR) with their superior catalytic performance. However, the presence of alkali metals in flue gases, particularly potassium (K), leads to catalyst deactivation and limits their industrial application. This study investigates the synergistic effects of Ce and Nb doping on the K resistance and low-temperature NH 3 -SCR activity of MnO x . The surface acidity and redox properties of MnO x were modulated by Ce and Nb modification. In addition, the phase structure, surface state and active sites of the catalysts were characterized before and after K poisoning. The results indicated that Nb 0.05 Ce 0.05 MnO x exhibited exceptional low-temperature performance, achieving over 90 % NO conversion at 125-250°C, along with significant resistance to K poisoning·NH 3 -TPD and in-situ experiments revealed that the loss of acid sites is the primary cause of K poisoning. The mechanism follows the L-H mechanism with L-acid sites as the main active sites on the catalyst surface and bridging nitrate as the key intermediate state. This research provides valuable insights into enhancing the industrial applicability of MnO x- based catalysts for low-temperature denitrification.

Exploring the mechanism of alkali metal K-catalyzed biomass char gasification using in-situ DRIFTS and molecular simulation

Deng Zhao,Yu Wang,Guanwei Wang,Wenming Han,Hua Liu,Huashan Wang,Hui Liu,Shuai Guo

Although alkali metal potassium (K)-catalyzed char gasification has been widely studied, the detailed mechanism of this process is still not fully understood. To study this catalytic mechanism in more detail, high-temperature in-situ DRIFTS experiments were carried out for the gasification of cellulose char with K and cellulose char without K under H 2 O and O 2 atmospheres, transient gasification experiment of char with K under H 2 O atmosphere, and char with K gasification under isotope water atmospheres. Peaks at 1945 cm −1 and 2020 cm −1 were observed. Combined with the theoretical spectra obtained by quantum chemical simulations and the prediction of catalytic gasification intermediates by molecular dynamics simulations, these two peaks were confirmed to represent char-polyynes species. Based on this result, a new mechanism is proposed: K interacts with carboxyl groups and aromatic ketones to promote desorption, thereby exposing active sites. Then, K reacts with the edge of the activated char to form numerous highly active char-polyynes species. The polyynes edge of this char-polyynes phase provides ideal adsorption–desorption sites, enabling further reaction with the gasifier. Thus, gas desorption is promoted. The adsorption and desorption peaks of catalytic gasification under the H 2 O atmosphere were located at 1400 cm −1 and 1300 cm −1 , and these peaks represented stable adsorption states and unstable desorption precursors, respectively. Based on this, adsorption–desorption theory was analyzed more comprehensively, and the adsorption–desorption process was divided into three stages: initial adsorption, intermediate conversion, and desorption. The comprehensive new mechanism proposed in this paper provides a better understanding of the nature of char catalytic gasification at a deeper level.

Solid-Liquid Equilibrium Behavior and Data Correlation of Furosemide in 12 Pure Solvents from 283.15 to 323.15 K

Jingxuan Qiu,Jing Lin,Chaoqun Zhang,Liping Zhao,Peng Wang,Jia Zhang,Rui Zhang,Yunchun Guo,Huiliang Wang

In this paper, the solubility of furosemide in 12 monosolvents including methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol, n-butanol, sec-butanol, 1-pentanol, acetone, 2-butanone, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, and water was measured by using a static gravimetric method within the temperature range of 283.15 to 323.15 K under atmospheric pressure. The solubility magnitudes show an increasing tendency with the increase of temperature in all solvents. Within the entire temperature range, the solubility is the lowest in water (0.0053 × 10–3 at 283.15 K) and the highest in 1-pentanol (72.736 × 10–3 at 323.15 K). The rough subsequence of solubility is 1-pentanol > methanol > n-propanol > ethanol > isopropanol > sec-butanol > n-butanol in alcoholic solvents and acetone >2-butanone > methyl acetate > ethyl acetate > water in nonalcohol solvents. The solubility behavior of furosemide is a result of the combined effects of solvent polarity, solvent–solvent intermolecular interactions (characterized by cohesive energy density), and summation of hydrogen bond acceptor propensities. Moreover, the experimental solubility data were fitted by the models of Apelblat and Yaws. The results indicate that the two models could both correlate the experimental values satisfactorily, and the Yaws model is more appropriate to fit the solubility data of furosemide compared with the Apelblat model.

Near-infrared downshifting luminescence of Ca2LaTaO6:Nd3+/Yb3+/K+ phosphors and their applications: solar cells and anti-counterfeiting

Hang Liu,Haozhou Tian,Chunhui Sun,Qiang Wang,Hongqun Zhu,Xuezhong Yang,Haoran Wang,Yuhong Zhang

A series of Nd3+/Yb3+ co-doped Ca2LaTaO6 (CLTO) phosphors are synthesized by a high temperature solid phase method. Structural characterization confirms the successful incorporation of Nd3+ and Yb3+ ions into the CLTO host lattice. The photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra and photoluminescence (PL) spectra of CLTO:Nd3+ and CLTO:Nd3+/Yb3+ are investigated in detail. Under the excitation of ultraviolet (UV) and visible (VIS) light, the CLTO:Nd3+/Yb3+ phosphor emits broadband near infrared (NIR) luminescence. In particular, the luminescence intensity of the Yb3+ ion is increased through an energy transfer (ET) process from Nd3+ to Yb3+. The luminescence mechanism of the CLTO:Nd3+/Yb3+ sample is analyzed based on the decay lifetime and PL spectra. In addition, the NIR emission intensity of Yb3+ ions is also enhanced by doping K+ ions. The broadband luminescence (850–1050 nm) of the CLTO:Nd3+/Yb3+/K+ phosphor has good application in solar cells and anti-counterfeiting.

Ultrasound-assisted ionic liquid extraction of polysaccharides from Crataegus songarica K. Koch fruits: Structural characterization and Antioxidant Activity

Sheng-qi Jiang,Yu-yang Chai,Shu fang Ma,Junlong Wang,Wen-pan Shi,Peng peng He,Juan xia Pang,Yong gang Lin

In this study, we optimal the ultrasound-assisted ionic liquid extraction (UAILE) process of polysaccharides from Crataegus songarica K. Koch fruits. The optimal conditions determined were: ultrasonic power of 400 W, temperature of 79 ℃, extraction time of 78 min, Ethylammonium dodecyl sulfate (EADS) concentration of 1.52 mg/mL, and liquid-solid ratio of 51:1 mL/g. Under these conditions, the polysaccharides yield was 34.37%, which was significantly higher than that obtained by the conventional ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) and hot water extraction (HWE) methods. After purification, we studied the chemical composition, physicochemical properties and structural characteristics of polysaccharides (CSP). The results showed that CSP is a heteropolysaccharide containing α-linkage glucopyranose, which is mainly composed of mannose, arabinose, galactose and glucose, with a molecular weight (Mw) of 27.82×104 Da. In addition, CSP demonstrated significant free radical scavenging ability, and was able to efficiently reduce the H2O2-induced HepG2 cellular malondialdehyde (MDA) content, while enhancing superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities, showing its superior antioxidant activity. Based on these properties, CSP is expected to be used as a novel efficacy factor in the food and pharmaceutical industries.
