Pt/C is currently widely utilized as a catalyst for electrolytic hydrogen production. However, the high cost of Pt-based catalysts limits further development. Therefore, developing an efficient, highly stable, and cost-effective catalyst is crucial. In this study, we enhanced the ability to activate H 2 O and the performance of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) by incorporating a small amount of Ru into NiFeAl-layered double hydroxides (LDHs), thereby altering the electrochemical active surface area and the catalysts’ internal resistance. The catalyst demonstrated excellent catalytic activity in alkaline electrolytes, achieving low overpotentials of 33 mV at 10 mA cm −2 and 278 mV at 50 mA cm −2 . Furthermore, it demonstrated outstanding stability for up to 240 h; the catalyst was successfully assembled into a solar-powered hydrogen production system via full-water-splitting testing, thus providing more possibilities for electrolytic hydrogen production.

With the increasing shortage of energy reserves, the exploration of new energy sources is a growing area of research. As a widely used energy storage device, supercapacitors have attracted widespread attention from researchers. In our study, N- and B-modified phenolic foam was prepared by polymerization using phenol and paraformaldehyde as raw materials, urea and 4-formylphenylboronic acid as modifiers of nitrogen and boron, respectively, and adding foaming agent and curing agent. Modified reduced graphene oxide was synthesized by modifying reduced graphene oxide with nickel and cobalt. Finally, modified reduced graphene oxide-doped phenolic resin-based carbon foams were prepared by mixing and carbonizing the above two modified materials. The effects of mass ratio of Ni to Co, carbonization temperature, and different addition amount of activator on the structure and electrochemical properties of the obtained carbon foam materials were studied. The results show that the specific surface area of the carbonized material can reach 744 m 2 /g and the pore volume of the material is 0.496 cm 3 /g when the mass ratio of Ni metal to Co metal salt is 1:1, the mass ratio of activator to modified phenolic foam is 5, and the carbonization temperature is 800°C. And its maximum specific capacitance can reach 1288 F/g at a current density of 1 A/g. When the current density is increased to 10 A/g, its specific capacitance is still maintained at 700 F/g. The electrode has a 65% capacitance retention rate after 1000 cycles. The preparation of carbon foam electrode materials based on phenolic resin provides a theoretical basis for the development of energy storage containers with low cost and high performance.

Graphene and graphene-like two-dimensional layered nanomaterials-based photoelectrochemical (PEC) biosensors have recently grown rapidly in popularity thanks to their advantages of high sensitivity and low background signal, which have attracted tremendous attention in ultrahigh sensitive small molecule detection. This work proposes a non-enzymatic and visible-light-sensitive PEC biosensing platform based on ZIF-67@MoS2/rGO composite which is synthesized through a facile and one-step microwave-assisted hydrothermal method. The combination of MoS2and rGO could construct van der Waals heterostructures, which not only act as visible-light-active nanomaterials, but facilitate charge carriers transfer between the photoelectrode and glassy carbon electrode (GCE). ZIF-67 anchored on MoS2/rGO heterostructures provides large specific surface areas and a high proportion of catalytic sites, which cooperate with MoS2nanosheets, realizing rapid and efficient enzyme-free electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose. The ZIF-67@MoS2/rGO-modified GCE can realize the rapid and sensitive detection of glucose at low detection voltage, which exhibits a high sensitivity of 12.62 μAmM−1cm−2. Finally, the ZIF-67@MoS2/rGO PEC biosensor is developed by integrating the ZIF-67@MoS2/rGO with a screen-printed electrode (SPE), which exhibits a high sensitivity of 3.479 μAmM−1cm−2and a low detection limit of 1.39 μM. The biosensor’s selectivity, stability, and repeatability are systematically investigated, and its practicability is evaluated by detecting clinical serum samples.Keywords:ZIF-67;2D material;non-enzymatic;heterostructure;visible-light sensitive;photoelectrochemical biosensing

As core components in electric/electronic fields, dielectric materials have recently received ever-increasing interests. Among them, polymer-based dielectric composites have drawn ever-increasing attentions due to their high-temperature resistance and excellent processibility. However, state-of-art studies mostly focus on the modification of single-phase filler, while the heterogeneous three phase interactions between fillers and polymer matrix are rarely studied. To fill this gap, in this study, a novel strategy of interfacial design and structural construction of three-phase BaTiO 3 /rGO/polymer nanocomposites have been promoted to simultaneously build interfacial barriers between adjacent rGO nanosheets and to enhance the interfacial polarization of rGO nanosheets for improved dielectric, thermal and mechanical properties. The dielectric constant of 0.6 wt% BT/ARGO/PEI reached 644@1 kHz with a dielectric loss of only 0.218, while these values for 0.5 wt% ARGO/PEI composites are 471 and 0.489, respectively. Meanwhile, the breakdown strength almost doubled (from 48 kV·mm −1 to 87 kV·mm −1 ) upon the addition of BaTiO 3 (BT) nanoparticles. Moreover, the introduced BT nanoparticles significantly enhanced the intermolecular frictions between different materials and contributed largely to promoted mechanical and thermal properties. We therefore speculate this work establishes a strong foundation for fabricating three heterogeneous-phase high dielectric polymer materials with excellent dielectric, thermal and mechanical properties. Highlights Graphene oxide was modified by APTES and reduced by L-Ascorbic Acid. Three-phase BT/ARGO/PEI composites showed enhanced dielectric properties. The incorporated BT nanoparticles reduced the dielectric loss. The thermal and mechanical properties of BT/ARGO/PEI composites are optimized. Interfacial interactions between different phase of materials are studied.

Aimed at making SiC-based composites for thermal protection components to catch up with the increasing Mach number of hypersonic vehicles, a facile strategy is proposed to fabricate lightweight SiC(Zr, rGO) nanocomposite polymer-derived ceramics (PDCs). The key technique is repyrolyzing SiC(Zr, rGO) p /polyzirconocarbosilane–vinyltriethoxysilane–graphene oxide (PZCS–VTES–GO, PZVG) blends. Highly cross-linked PZVG can effectively optimize formability of precursors, and in-situ formed Zr-containing phases are beneficial in preventing further grain growth of β-SiC and improving bonding strength within ceramic network. More interestingly, ZrOSi transition zone tightly coupled with nanocrystals helps to increase structure disorder of amorphous ceramic matrix to tough nanocomposite structure. Particularly, SiC(Zr, rGO) 1300 nanocomposite PDCs own outstanding hardness (8.10 GPa), superior fracture toughness (3.84 MPa·m 1/2 ), high ceramic yield (92.60%), and low linear shrinkage (5.00%). Zr-modification enables them to retain favorable overall performances even after 60 min of oxidation under a 1300°C butane torch flame. Timely self-healing ZrO 2 (ZrSiO 4 )/SiO 2 protective layer can enhance high-temperature oxidation resistance. Meanwhile, ZrO 2 and ZrC have a unique combination of good high-temperature stability/resistance to corrosion, strongly improving structural integrality. As demonstrated, such in-situ construction of nanocomposite system and pyrolytic mechanism open new opportunities for obtaining PDCs with superior high-temperature ablation resistance, toward emerging uses in thermal protection system of hypersonic aerospace vehicles.

As energy demand rises and environmental issues become more severe, various industries urgently need sustainable materials, and bifunctional catalysts are receiving increased attention. This paper employs a simple phosphating method to prepare Ni 2 P-supported reduced graphene oxide porous materials (Ni 2 P/rGO) as a bifunctional catalyst for photocatalytic degradation of pollutants and electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The introduction of polystyrene microspheres (PS) significantly improved the surface morphology of rGO, endowing Ni 2 P/rGO with excellent photocatalytic and electrocatalytic properties. The Ni 2 P/rGO composites material exhibits good degradation capabilities for diverse dyes and tetracycline hydrochloride (TC), with the best removal effects observed for methylene blue and tetracycline wastewater. Under visible light, the degradation efficiencies of methylene blue (MB) and TC pollutants within 100 min were 91 % and 83 %, respectively. Furthermore, with a low overpotential of 21.4 mV, a Tafel slope of 46.57 mV·dec −1 , and stability for 28 h, the Ni 2 P/rGO composite material demonstrates outstanding electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance in an alkaline environment. The above achievements mean that the current work has explored new trains of thought for the research and development of bifunctional catalysts.

Hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), a type of reactive oxygen species (ROS) produced by cells, plays a significant role in various physiological processes. Its abnormal concentrations in human body are closely associated with cellular damage as well as a variety of major diseases. Consequently, sensitive and accurate detection of cellular H 2 O 2 concentration is of great significance in evaluating the degree of intracellular oxidative stress in human cells. In this study, a novel heterogeneous nanomaterial, rGO@PDA@MXene-Au@COF, was designed for electrochemical-colorimetric dual-mode detection of intracellular H 2 O 2 , which enhances both peroxidase and electrochemical activities, achieving lower detection limits and broader linear ranges. ESR spectroscopy, EIS resistance analysis and computational simulation were employed to verify the mechanism of the activity enhancement, and the detection conditions were optimized. The methods were subsequently applied to the determination of H 2 O 2 in cells, yielding results of 1.69 × 10 −14 M H 2 O 2 /cell and 1.59 × 10 −14 M H 2 O 2 /cell for electrochemical and colorimetric detection of MCF-7 cells, and 1.67 × 10 −14 M H 2 O 2 /cell and 1.58 × 10 −14 M H 2 O 2 /cell of Hela cells, respectively. These results demonstrated high sensitivity and anti-interference capabilities, enabling quantitative detection of H 2 O 2 in complex cellular environments. Furthermore, the similarity in results between the two methods confirms their mutual accuracy and reliability. This work provided a novel approach for designing multifunctional nanomaterials and detecting H 2 O 2 in cells.

This work utilized Y 2 O 3 and rGO as additives, and systematically regulated their spatial distribution and composite ratio with Na 3 V 2 (PO 4 ) 3 (NVP) to overcome the bottlenecks faced by NVP, such as intrinsically low electronic conductivity, severe interfacial side reactions, and structural instability during cycling. The modified NVP cathode can significantly enhance its electrochemical performance, and improve its sodium storage and thermal safety performance in the pouch-type full cell. The as-prepared NVP@Y 2 O 3 @rGO material achieves an 84 % capacity retention rate after 1000 cycles at 1C&27 °C, while still delivering a specific capacity of 49.6 mAh g −1 at an ultra-high rate of 30C. Under elevated temperature of 45 °C, it maintains 91.5 % capacity retention after 400 cycles at 1C. In contrast, the pristine NVP retains only 38.2 %. Moreover, it exhibits a reversible capacity of 63.6 mAh g −1 even at an ultra-high rate of 40C. More importantly, pouch-type full cell testing further confirms its superior cycling stability (60.8 % capacity retention after 100 cycles, representing a 30.5 % improvement over the unmodified sample). Mechanistic studies reveal that the combined effects of Y 2 O 3 and rGO effectively facilitate electron/ion transport, suppress electrode-electrolyte interfacial side reactions, mitigate volume change stress, and enhance structural integrity. This work offers new insights for designing high-stability cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries.

The demand for wearable electronics is still growing, and the rapid development of new electrochemical materials and manufacturing processes allows for innovative approaches to power these devices. Here, three-dimensional (3D) self-supported reduced graphene oxide/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (rGO/PEDOT) hybrid fiber fabrics are systematically designed and constructed via phase inversion-based microfluidic-fiber-spinning assembly (MFSA) method, followed by concentrated sulfuric acid treatment and chemical reduction. The rGO/PEDOT fiber fabrics demonstrate favorable flexibility, interconnected hierarchical network, large specific surface area, high charge storage capacity, and high electrical conductivity. In addition, the all-solid-state supercapacitor made of these rGO/PEDOT fiber fabrics proves large specific capacitance (1028.2 mF cm −2 ), ultrahigh energy density (22.7 μWh cm −2 ), long-term cycling stability, and excellent flexibility (capacitance retention remains at 84%, after 5000 cycles of continuous deformation at 180 o bending angles). Further considering those remarkable electrochemical properties, a wearable self-powered device with a sandwich-shaped supercapacitor (SC) is designed to impressively light up LEDs and power mini game console, suggesting its practical applications in flexible and portable smart electronics. In the domain of photocatalysis, harnessing solar energy, particularly the near-infrared (NIR) spectrum, presents formidable challenges. To overcome these, a novel NIR-responsive photocatalyst, denoted as NYT@ZnO@RGO@Ag, was meticulously crafted. This photocatalyst comprises a NaYF4: Yb3+, Tm3+@ZnO structure supported on reduced graphene oxide (RGO) and further composited with silver nanoparticles. It was rigorously evaluated for its performance in photodegrading tetracycline (TC) antibiotics as a model compound. Leveraging the unique properties of upconversion materials, wide bandgap semiconductors, and localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), the NYT@ZnO@RGO@Ag catalyst exhibited an impressive photodegradation rate of 93.6% for TC under NIR light exposure. This efficiency surpassed that of NYT@ZnO (38.2%) and NYT@ZnO@RGO (72.3%). The remarkable enhancement in NIR-driven photocatalysis observed in NYT@ZnO@RGO@Ag is primarily attributed to the efficient process of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) from NYT to its each component. This process enhances photo-induced carrier generation and facilitates efficient transfer and energy utilization under NIR irradiation. The present study offers a promising approach for NIR-driven photocatalytic degradation of pollutants in environments with limited light exposure or even under dark conditions.

Effective farmland management requires real-time monitoring of plant growth status and timely response to stressors. To achieve this goal, we utilized wire organic electrochemical transistors (WECTs) to convert ion signals in plant vasculature into electrical signals in circuits, enabling the detection of ion concentrations. In our study, we employed a flexible substrate composed of a core-sheath structure nanofiber yarn impregnated with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) as a semiconductor channel. The gate was made of silver wire, while silver paste was sprayed at both ends of the core-sheath yarn to serve as a source and drain. This configuration allowed us to construct a wire organic electrochemical transistor that exhibited modulation performance and sensitivity at low voltages, with a transconductance of 1.07 × 10 –4 S. We conducted sodium ion concentration testing and successfully achieved the sensing of sodium ions at concentrations ranging from 10 –4 to 10 –1 M. This study lays the groundwork for the future development of organic electrochemical transistors in plants, enabling in situ detection of sodium ion concentrations under salt stress.

Although photothermal therapy is widely employed for tumor treatment because of its high tumor cell selectivity and low apoptosis resistance, heat-shock proteins (HSPs) impart resistance to heat-induced apoptosis in tumor cells, thus diminishing the therapeutic effectiveness. To this end, tin selenide (SnSe) was grown in situ on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanosheets to construct a photothermal–thermoelectric SnSe/rGO nanosystem. The rGO component converted near-infrared light energy into localized thermal energy, resulting in the thermal ablation of tumor cells. Meanwhile, SnSe converted temperature fluctuations into pyroelectric charges, which interacted with surrounding O2 molecules to generate reactive oxygen species that oxidized the amino acids on the HSPs, which changed the protein conformation and functionally damaged the tumor cells. In addition, rGO functioned as an efficient electron acceptor to increase electron mobility, thus enhancing the thermoelectric conversion efficiency of SnSe. Then, the SnSe/rGO nanosystem was incorporated into a poly-l-lactic acid bone scaffold to prevent tumor recurrence. Results showed that the composite scaffold not only exhibited good photothermal and thermoelectric effects. In vitro cell tests demonstrated that the scaffold generated 1O2 based on temperature fluctuations and the antitumor rate reached 86.6% against osteosarcoma MG-63 cells.
