As an ideal alternative to bisphenol A (BPA), bisphenol S (BPS) has similar biotoxicity, teratogenicity , carcinogenicity and mutagenicity as BPA. Nevertheless, to date, a fast, sensitive and portable method for meeting on-site measurement of BPS had not been established. Hence, it was particularly urged to develop a fast and highly sensitive method for tracing BPS. Currently, a novel molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) electrochemical sensor had been successfully fabricated for the detection of BPS, wherein the composite of three-doped carbon quantum dots (B, N, F-CQDs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were utilized as an electron conducting layer, and MIP was applied as recognition element of target molecules. The step-by-step fabrication process and the adsorption capacity of the modified electrode were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and chronocoulometry (CC). The results indicated that the synergy between B, N, F-CQDs and AgNPs dramatically improved the sensitivity of the electrode and achieved the amplification of the electrical signal. Meanwhile, the electrochemical activities of BPS were explored by CV and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). And, the various parameters relating to the electrochemical kinetic properties of BPS were calculated. To the best of our knowledge, this was rarely reported in peer journals. The MIP remarkably improved the selectivity of the sensor owing to the specific recognition of the imprinted cavities. The linear response range of the new sensor was 1 × 10 −8 M to 5 × 10 −5 M with a detection limit of 1.12 × 10 −8 M and the electrode designed in this paper could meet the requirement of trace-level measurement of BPS in biological and environmental samples. Additionally, the sensor was used to determine BPS in plastic products with good anti-interference and acceptable recovery.

China's aluminum-products industry, a large-scale consumer of industrial paints, is a potentially significant source of full-volatility organic compounds (F-VOCs). However, the emission characteristics of F-VOCs, including VOCs, intermediate-, semi-, and low-volatility organic compounds (I/S/LVOCs), and their role in ozone formation potentials (OFP), and secondary organic aerosol formation potentials (SOAP) remain unclear. In this study, we collected in-field samples from three industrial paints (solvent-based, water-based and powder paints) at spraying and drying processes, and treatment devices to analyze the emission characteristics of F-VOCs, OFP, SOAP. Results revealed water-based and powder paints—often marketed as eco-friendly—emitted non-negligible SOA precursors. The F-VOC emission factors of three paints based on the field measurement method and the material balance method were 3.3–57.3 and 1.5–61.8 (kg/t-raw materials), respectively. Due to overlooking I/S/LVOCs, conventional material balance methods underestimated F-VOC emissions from powder by 46.9–53.9 %, and SOAP and OFP from three paints by 18.1–80.9 % and 14.5–77.8 %, respectively. Despite comprising less than 25.0 % of total emissions, I/S/LVOCs dominated 70.0–80.0 % SOAP. The paint types and treatment devices rather than industrial processes are the main factors influencing volatility, phase distributions, and source profiles. Current controls reduce OFP by ∼80.0 % but SOAP by only ∼20.0 %, highlighting the evasion of I/S/LVOCs from mitigation strategies. In 2023, China's aluminum-products industry emitted 258.4 kt of F-VOCs, comparable to those from on-road diesel transportation. The findings indicate substantial F-VOC emissions from aluminum production and inadequate I/S/LVOC controls, necessitating their inclusion in emission inventories and air-quality models to enhance pollution control.

The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays decisive roles in disabling T cell-mediated antitumor immunity, but the immunoregulatory functions of its biophysical properties remain elusive. Extracellular matrix (ECM) stiffening is a hallmark of solid tumors. Here, we report that the stiffened ECM contributes to the immunosuppression in TME via activating the Rho-associated coiled-coil-containing protein kinase (ROCK)-myosin IIA-filamentous actin (F-actin) mechanosignaling pathway in tumor cells to promote the generation of TRIM14-scavenging nonmuscle myosin heavy chain IIA (NMHC-IIA)-F-actin stress fibers, thus accelerating the autophagic degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (GMP)-AMP synthase (cGAS) to deprive tumor cyclic GMP-AMP (cGAMP) and further attenuating tumor immunogenicity. Pharmacological inhibition of myosin IIA effector molecules with blebbistatin (BLEB) or the RhoA upstream regulator of this pathway with simvastatin (SIM) restored tumor-intrinsic cGAS-mediated cGAMP production and enhanced antitumor immunity. Our work identifies that ECM stiffness is an important biophysical cue to regulate tumor immunogenicity via the ROCK-myosin IIA-F-actin axis and that inhibiting this mechanosignaling pathway could boost immunotherapeutic efficacy for effective solid tumor treatment.
