Major depressive disorder is associated with impaired excitatory synaptic transmission, but the molecular mechanisms linking chronic stress to altered AMPA receptor trafficking remain incompletely understood. Here we show that chronic mild stress increases OGT-mediated O-GlcNAcylation of PIN at serine 88, which stabilizes PIN and enhances its interaction with nitric oxide synthase. This suppresses nitric oxide synthase activity, reduces stargazin S-nitrosylation, weakens stargazin-GluA1 binding, and impairs GluA1-containing AMPA receptor trafficking. Genetic or pharmacological inhibition of OGT restores this signaling pathway and alleviates stress-induced depression-like behaviors in mice. These findings identify the OGT-PIN-NOS-stargazin axis as a regulator of stress-induced synaptic dysfunction and suggest that targeting OGT may help restore AMPA receptor trafficking in depression-related conditions.

Studies indicated that some active flavonoids combined with acarbose could reduce the side effects of acarbose and enhance its efficacy. Isorhamnetin-3-O-rutinoside (IOR) is a flavonoid found in many edible herbs. In this work, the synergistic effects of IOR and acarbose on α -amylase/α-glucosidase (PA/AG) were evaluated using ZIP score analysis. In the presence of IOR, the binding constant K b values of acarbose with PA/AG were significantly improved, indicating that IOR exhibited synergistic effect with acarbose by increasing its K b values. Furthermore, in the presence of IOR, acarbose resulted in greater changes in microenvironment and secondary structure of PA/AG. The docking analysis confirmed that IOR and acarbose bound to the different sites of PA/AG. Compared with pure enzyme, the complexes formed by IOR/acarbose with two enzymes were more stable based on dynamics simulations. This study suggested that IOR might be used as a potential synergistic inhibitor of acarbose.

Pressure-driven reconstruction forms Ni-O-K single-atom interfaces. • Near-equilibrium CO 2 conversion (∼58%) with ∼100% CO selectivity. • Exceptional stability over 200 h without sintering or deactivation. • Ni-O-K sites lower E a and suppress methanation. • Carboxyl pathway dominates over formate route. Achieving simultaneous high activity, selectivity, and stability in single-atom catalysts (SACs) under high-temperature conditions remains a significant challenge, primarily due to the difficulty in precisely controlling the coordination environment of metal centers. Here, we demonstrate that alkali ion (e.g., K + ) modification of both Ni single atoms and their carbon nitride (CN) support enables exceptional performance in the reverse water-gas shift (RWGS) reaction. The resulting Ni@K-CN catalyst achieves near-equilibrium CO 2 conversion with nearly 100% CO selectivity across a broad temperature range (400–600 ℃), alongside remarkable long-term stability. This performance substantially surpasses that of the K-free analogue and ranks among the best-reported non-noble metal RWGS catalysts. Operando studies reveal that the catalyst undergoes a thermodynamically driven in-situ reconstruction under high pressure reaction conditions, forming atomically dispersed Ni-O-K interfacial sites within a restructured carbon nitride matrix. Density functional theory calculations reveal that these sites markedly lower the apparent activation energy ( E a = 41.5 vs. 131.4 kJ·mol −1 ), modulate the electronic structure of Ni and surface-adsorbate interactions, and thereby promote a low-energy-barrier carboxyl pathway while kinetically suppressing methanation. This work establishes a design strategy based on alkali-mediated dynamic reconstruction to create highly stable and selective SACs for demanding high-temperature catalytic processes. Solvent-free
solid-state ionic conducting elastomers (SICEs) are
emerging as ideal ionic conductors for flexible wearable electronics
due to their superior environmental stability and mechanical compliance.
However, it remains a great challenge to simultaneously achieve high
ionic conductivity, robust mechanical properties, and low hysteresis
in SICEs. Herein, we report a one-pot ultraviolet-initiated copolymerization
strategy to fabricate high-performance poly(4-hydroxybutyl acrylate- co -poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate)/lithium
bis(trifluoromethanesulphonyl)imide (denoted as P(HBA- co -PEGMA)/LiTFSI) SICEs, where 4-hydroxybutyl acrylate (HBA) serves
as the elastic backbone, poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate
(PEGMA) provides ether-rich segments to facilitate ion migration,
and Li + –O coordination bonds are proposed to provide
physical cross-linking sites and contribute to the balance between
mechanical robustness and ionic conductivity. The incorporation of
PEGMA results in a 2921.74% enhancement in ionic conductivity compared
with the neat PHBA/LiTFSI SICE (1.84 × 10 –5 S m –1 ), suggesting that the introduction of ether-rich
PEGMA segments effectively facilitates ion transport in the solvent-free
system. By systematically optimizing the HBA:PEGMA mass ratio and
LiTFSI content, the optimal SICE (HBA:PEGMA mass ratio of 7:3, 30
wt % LiTFSI) exhibits a high ionic conductivity of 3.16 × 10 –4 S m –1 , a tensile strength of 277.25
kPa, an elongation at break of 315.73%, and excellent environmental
stability (weight change rate <4% after 7 days of ambient storage).
Furthermore, the as-assembled SICE-based strain sensor displays a
wide sensing range (0–300% strain), a linear gauge factor of
1.605 ± 0.015, an ultralow electrical hysteresis (∼0.52%),
outstanding cyclic stability, and reliable static sensing performance.
This work provides a facile and effective design paradigm for developing
high-performance solvent-free ionic conductors toward advanced flexible
sensing applications.

The large-scale production of sustainable
aviation fuels
(SAFs)
heavily relies on hydrogen supply, while traditional hydrogen storage
and delivery suffer from safety risks and high cost. Hydrogen peroxide
(H 2 O 2 ) is regarded as a promising hydrogen carrier,
which can be produced on-site through a green electrochemical two-electron
oxygen reduction reaction (2e – ORR). Herein, oxygen,
nitrogen co-modulated carbon (O-NC) catalysts were fabricated by doping
N dopants and oxygen-containing functional groups (OFGs). The pyrrolic
N is revealed to jeopardize the electronic structure of the NC catalyst,
and the OFGs can further regulate the NC matrix for 2e – ORR. As a result, the optimized O-NC-5 catalyst exhibits an excellent
H 2 O 2 selectivity of over 80% in both alkaline
and neutral electrolytes. After further optimizing Nafion content,
catalyst loading, and operating conditions of O-NC-5-based gas diffusion
electrodes, the assembled flow cell can deliver a high H 2 O 2 yield of 3.4 mol g cat –1 h –1 and Faradaic efficiency of above 90%, with
robust stability over 12 h. This work reveals the synergistic effects
of N dopants and OFGs toward 2e – ORR performance
and offers a feasible strategy to develop high-performance carbon
electrocatalysts and practical electrode systems for green H 2 O 2 production, which supports the SAF synthesis.

Mixed-anion defect engineering is
an effective strategy
for tuning
local structures and ion transport in complex oxides. Herein, we report
the Li 3 N-assisted synthesis of the oxynitride La 24 Li 23 Ti 5 O 53 N 3 (LLTON)
and clarify the role of O/N incorporation in defect reconstruction
and Li-ion migration. Structure analyses reveal that nitrogen preferentially
substitutes apical oxygen sites in Li/Ti octahedra, inducing Li-site
redistribution and oxygen-vacancy formation. These coupled defects
reconstruct the local coordination environment and disrupt the ordered
defect arrangement of the parent oxide while retaining the tetragonal
framework. Variable-temperature diffraction further reveals a thermally
driven structural evolution involving Li-site reorganization, enhanced
positional disorder in the fluorite-related lithium sublattice, and
a halving of the crystallographic repeat along the c direction. Ab
initio molecular dynamics (AIMD) and bond valence site energy (BVSE)
calculations show that these defect-induced and thermally activated
rearrangements lower the Li-ion migration barrier and promote preferential
one-dimensional migration along the c direction. Consequently, LLTON
delivers an ionic conductivity of 3.78 mS cm –1 at
400 ° C, with the activation energy reduced from 0.88 to 0.67
eV. This work establishes a structure–defect–evolution–transport
correlation in mixed-anion oxides and highlights O/N defect engineering
as a useful approach for regulating ion migration in complex oxide
materials.

Developing efficient and stable single-atom catalysts (SACs) for acidic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) offers a promising direction toward achieving economical and sustainable development of proton exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE). However, their widespread application remains hindered by intrinsic stability challenges. Herein, we engineered an m-Ir SA -CeO 2 catalyst featuring an Ir-O-Ce 4-δ (0 < δ <1) coordination that delivered exceptional efficiency and stability in PEMWE. In this configuration, low-valent Ce species stabilized high-valent Ir active sites through lattice charge compensation, significantly enhancing catalyst activity and durability. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy, and theoretical calculations revealed electron transfer from Ir to Ce through the Ir-O-Ce 4-δ coordination, which optimized oxygen intermediate adsorption in the adsorbate evolution mechanism and reduced the ionic character of Ir O bonds to boost intrinsic activity and structural stability. The m-Ir SA -CeO 2 achieved a 267 mV overpotential with >500 h stability at 10 mA cm −2 in 0.1 M HClO 4 . Furthermore, the PEMWE electrolyzer employing the m-Ir SA -CeO 2 anode catalyst maintained stable operation at 100 mA cm −2 for >1000 h with an ultralow Ir loading of 0.12 mg cm −2 .

Two-dimensional lubricating fillers play a crucial role in strengthening the tribological performance of polymer coatings. In this study, MXene-PDA-Bi 6 O 7 (MXene/Bi 6 O 7 ) heterostructured composite nanofillers were prepared via a mussel-inspired chemical method. Polyimide (PI) composite coatings with varying MXene:Bi₆O₇ mass ratios were fabricated, and their microstructure, mechanical properties, and tribological performance were systematically characterized. The loading of Bi 6 O 7 nanoflowers onto the surface of PDA-modified MXene was achieved through in situ assembly, resulting in the formation of MXene/Bi 6 O 7 heterostructures. The experimental results demonstrated that the synergistic effect of MXene and Bi 6 O 7 significantly enhanced the properties of the PI composite coatings. Specifically, when the MXene-to-Bi₆O₇ mass ratio was 4:6, the PI composite coatings exhibited an 11.2 % reduction in friction coefficient and a 70.5 % decrease in wear rate compared with pure PI. Additionally, the tensile strength of the PI matrix was increased to 185.99 MPa. The MXene/Bi 6 O 7 heterostructure effectively reduced direct contact between the friction pairs by forming a dense transfer membrane, thereby maintaining stable lubrication performance under a broad range of conditions. The study elucidates the role of two-dimensional heterostructures in enhancing the interfacial mechanics and tribological properties of polymers, providing theoretical guidance and technical routes for the development of high-performance abrasion-resistant polymer coating materials.

The rational design of Pt-based alloy electrocatalysts is vital to improve the durability and performance of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). However, the instability caused by transition metal leaching and insufficient particle confinement remains a major challenge. Herein, the development of highly dispersed PtFe alloys with rare-earth Gd doping and carbon confinement (PtFeGd x /N–C) by a synergistic strategy of coordination engineering and Gd–O species incorporation is reported. A nitrogen-doped porous carbon support was synthesized via pyrolysis of ZIF-8 precursors containing EDTA-FeNa and Gd(NO 3 ) 3 , yielding uniformly dispersed Gd–Fe oxide domains. Subsequent wet impregnation and in situ alloying with H 2 PtCl 6 generated highly dispersed PtFeGd x nanoparticles. The optimized PtFeGd40/N–C catalyst exhibited a high half-wave potential of 0.94 V and a mass activity of 0.94 A mg Pt −1 , with only 0.5 % activity loss after 100,000 durability cycles. Structural characterizations confirmed strong coordination among Pt, Fe, and Gd, with Gd predominantly present as oxidized species. DFT calculations revealed that Gd and Gd–O doping effectively modulate the Pt d-band center, optimize intermediate adsorption energies, and reduce the reaction barrier to 0.332 eV. This work highlights the synergistic role of rare-earth doping and carbon confinement in enhancing ORR activity and stability, offering a promising strategy for the development of durable Pt-based electrocatalysts for PEMFCs.

For preparing stable water-in-oil-in-water emulsion, the role of nanoparticles in stabilizing the interface is very important. In this study, chitosan hydrochloride-carboxymethyl chitosan (CHC-CMC) nanoparticles were prepared considering electrostatic interactions; then the emulsion was prepared and the stability characteristics in presence of NaCl (0–200 mmol/L) and 30 d storage were studied. CHC-CMC nanoparticles (261 nm) were obtained when the CHC: CMC ratio was 1:2. CHC-CMC formation was verified by FT-IR when a new peak appeared at 1580 cm −1 ; W 2 contained 2 wt % CHC-CMC and W 1 contained 1 wt % sodium alginate , the creaming index (81.6 %) was higher for the emulsions than Tween 80 (67.4 %) after 30 d. Confocal laser scanning microscopy confirmed the double microstructures, in contrast to the collapse with Tween 80, because the CHC-CMC nanoparticles were densely adsorbing on the oil-water interface. This indicates that CHC-CMC has a stronger ability to stabilize W 1 /O/W 2 emulsion than Tween 80.

Early disease diagnosis is very important for the prevention or mitigation of metastasis. Effective and efficient methods are needed to improve the diagnosis and assessment of diseases. Thrombin is a biomarker for diagnosis of some diseases, such as pulmonary metastases and diseases associated with coagulation abnormalities. Lots of methods for detecting thrombin have been reported, however, most of them were based on a single aptamer and needed modification of aptamers, and label free sensors for thrombin detection based on an aptamer pair are challenging. In this work, we present three label free sensing platforms based on [Ru(bpy)2(o-mopip)]2+ (bpy = 2,2-bipyridine; o-mopip = 2-(2-methoxylphenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline) (OMO) and graphene oxide (GO) for thrombin detection. Thrombin detection using our three label free sensors is accomplished by specific target recognition based on aptamer pair TBA1/TBA2–thrombin, single aptamer TBA1–thrombin or TBA2–thrombin, respectively. Direct readouts of the target recognition is achieved by restoration of the fluorescence of OMO prequenched by GO. All of the three sensing platforms exhibited high sensitivity and selectivity. Furthermore, all sensing platforms were successfully applied to thrombin analysis in diluted bovine serum. According to the thrombin dependent response of the three platforms, the sensing platform based on aptamer pair TBA1 and TBA2 showed the highest sensitivity, widest linearity, best selectivity and recovery in diluted serum to thrombin. These results show that the sensing platform based on an aptamer pair have great potential for clinical diagnosis of disease-related biomarkers.

With the increasing power density of integrated circuits challenging traditional passive heat dissipation, novel materials such as phase change hydrogel are often required. In this work, a biomimetic sweating phase change composite hydrogel is presented where a Co-N/O coordination structure is fabricated via the coordination reaction of CoSO₄·7H₂O and ethanolamine. The hydrated salt phase change material, Na₂SO₄·10H₂O, is embedded in a polyacrylamide matrix, and carbon nanotubes are introduced to construct a 3D thermal conduction pathway. During the phase change, Na₂SO₄·10H₂O absorbs heat and releases water for evaporative cooling. The Co-N/O structure, acting as a hygroscopic site, adsorbs ambient moisture when the system is inactive, promoting the hydration and regeneration of Na₂SO₄·10H₂O and enabling synergistic optimization. This composite hydrogel features a phase change enthalpy exceeding 130 J·g −1 . The addition of carbon nanotubes boosts its thermal conductivity by 107 % to 0.793 W·m −1 ·K −1 . The Co-N/O structure significantly enhances its moisture absorption/desorption capabilities, with a moisture absorption rate of 4.71 g·g −1 at 95 % relative humidity and a maximum water absorption rate of 2.7 g·g −1 ·h −1 . At 30 % relative humidity, over 80 % of water is released within 50 min at 60 °C. In operation, it reduces the heating plate temperature by 8.6 °C and maintains a low temperature for 140 min, offering an efficient and eco - friendly solution for high - density electronic device heat dissipation.
