This work presents a novel strategy for improving the anti-CO poisoning performance of Pt-based catalysts by coupling the electronic states of Mo 4d and Ce 4f to modulate the Pt electronic structure. The introduction of Mo into CeO2 creates a composite support (Mo-CeOx) that induces electron redistribution at the Pt/CeO2 interface, inducing the electronic structure modulation of Pt, thereby influencing the Pt–CO interaction. This electronic tuning not only enhances Pt’s CO tolerance but also promotes charge transfer and improves catalyst stability. Density functional theory calculations and experimental data reveal that Mo doping decreases the formation energy of oxygen vacancies, facilitating Pt stabilization and the generation of active sites. The resulting Pt/Mo-CeOx/rGO catalyst exhibits significantly enhanced methanol oxidation reaction activity, with a mass activity 4.67 times higher than that of the undoped counterpart, alongside excellent CO poisoning resistance and long-term stability. This work introduces a new paradigm for designing highly efficient and durable Pt-based catalysts by leveraging electronic state engineering, offering a powerful approach for tackling CO poisoning in electrocatalysis.

Oxygen evolution reactions (OERs) are regarded as the rate-determining step of electrocatalytic overall water splitting, which endow OER electrocatalysts with the advantages of high activity, low cost, good conductivity, and excellent stability. Herein, a facile H2O2-assisted etching method is proposed for the fabrication of Mo-doped ultrathin Co9Se8@NiSe/NF-X heterojunctions with rich Se vacancies to boost electrocatalytic water oxidation. After step-by-step electronic structure modulation by Mo doping and Se vacancy engineering, the self-standing Mo-Co9Se8@NiSe/NF-60 heterojunctions deliver a current density of 50 mA cm−2 with an overpotential of 343 mV and a cell voltage of only 1.87 V at 50 mA cm−2 for overall water splitting in 1.0 M KOH. Our study opens up the possibility of realizing step-by-step electronic structure modulation of nonprecious OER electrocatalysts via heteroatom doping and vacancy engineering.

A molybdenum-based metal organic framework (Mo-MOF) and graphene oxide (GO) hybrid functionalized with boron-containing ionic liquid ([BMIM]BF 4 ) (GMB) was reported to effectively improve the fire safety and mechanical property of epoxy resin (EP). When 3 wt% GMB was added, the CO production rate, peak heat release rate and peak smoke release rate of EP composites decreased by 55.88%, 52.10% and 40.12%, respectively. The flame retardant mechanism was the combination of catalytic carbonization ([BMIM]BF 4 and Mo-MOF), physical barrier effect (GO) and gas phase dilution (H 2 O and NH 3 in gas production). Meanwhile, the incorporation of [BMIM]BF 4 endowed EP composites with excellent mechanical properties.

A Co-Mo sulfide catalyst with tube-like structure was prepared through a low-temperature pre-sulfurization process using rod-like CoMoO 4 as the precursor. The pre-sulfurization temperature greatly affected the total pore volume, the concentration of CoMoS species, the microstructure of (Co)MoS 2 slabs and the catalytic desulfurization activity. The increased temperature can promote the formation of hollow structure and the sulfurization degree of the precursor. It was found that the excessive temperature induced the Co atoms to form more isolated Co 9 S 8 species, hindering the formation of highly active CoMoS species. Therefore, appropriate temperature is more favorable to form the (Co)MoS 2 slabs with shorter length and higher stacking number, leading to more coordinatively unsaturated sites, especially the corner sites. According to the results of hydrodesulfurization reaction, the reaction rate of dibenzothiophene and the yields of liquid products are highly depended on the number of surface-active sites, which are mainly originated from the Type II CoMoS species. Moreover, the extended pre-sulfurization time can further improve the catalytic desulfurization activity of the catalyst at an appropriate pre-sulfurization temperature.

MOF-derived Ni-based bimetallic catalysts were found to be effective for the in-situ hydrogenation/hydrodeoxygenation of lignin-derived monophenols and dimers with isopropanol as the hydrogen-donor solvent (without external hydrogen). The synergistic effects of bimetallic catalysts were studied, and their catalytic properties afforded the best conversion rate of phenols and cyclohexanol/cycloalkane yields. The detailed physicochemical characterization was conducted by means of XRD, H 2 -TPR, NH 3 -TPD, and pyridine-IR analysis. The effects of reaction temperature (200–260 ℃) and reaction time (2–5 h) on the performance of lignin-derived monophenols and dimers were investigated. During the in-situ hydrogenation/hydrodeoxygenation of lignin-derived phenols, the steric effects and the effects of various functional groups, notably methoxy groups, were investigated. In-situ conversion of lignin-derived phenols with isopropanol was achieved over different Ni/M ratios of NiM@C (M = Co, Mo, and La) catalysts, from which NiLa 0.33 @C produced satisfactory yields of cyclohexanol/cycloalkanes.

In recent work, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) as ionic liquid analogues have been abundantly used in catalysis. Herein, vanadium phosphorus oxide (VPO) catalysts were synthesized from mono-, bi-, and tri- metallic DES of Nb, Zr, and Mo metal dopants as structure-directing agents and electronic promoters for n-butane selective oxidation towards maleic anhydride. Higher MA selectivity and larger n-butane conversion was successfully obtained using the newly developed catalysts, while oxidation by-product COx(CO, CO2) was minimized. Characterization techniques including FTIR, DSC, XRD, TEM, SEM, EDS, Raman spectroscopy, TGA, XPS, and NH3-TPD were employed to fully characterize the DESs, precursors and catalysts. This work led to an increase of 7.8% in MA mass yield with 16% more n-butane conversion as compared to an unpromoted VPO catalyst. Moreover, the utilization of a low-carbon alkane brought in a green impact on the chemical plant as well as the environment. Keywords:deep eutectic solvent;vanadium phosphorus oxide;n-butane selective oxidation;structure directing agent;electronic promoter

In this work, Molybdenum (Mo) doped bismuth vanadate (BiVO 4 ) is carried out by traditional calcination method, while carbon-based cobalt (Co-Ci) is prepared by photoelectric deposition (PED) and used as co-catalyst to decorate the surface, its photocurrent density reached 3.15 mA/cm 2 at 1.23 V vs RHE. More importantly, the H-Co-Ci/Mo: BiVO 4 photoanode obtained by plasma etching of Co-Ci/Mo: BiVO 4 has greatly improved surface hydrophilicity. The photocurrent density of H-Co-Ci/Mo: BiVO 4 photoanode is 4.8 times that of BiVO 4 photoanode, reaching 3.95 mA/cm 2 . In addition, the incident photon-current conversion efficiency (IPCE) value of the H-Co-Ci/Mo: BiVO 4 photoanode is as high as 60%, and both the injection and separation efficiency have also been enhanced. The enhanced photoelectrochemical (PEC) performance is attributed to the good wettability of the material surface and improvement of water oxidation kinetics. These findings provide a mild and efficient modification method for improving BiVO 4 used for water splitting, and are expected to provide new ideas for other photoanodes.

To develop an ultra-high-temperature resistant coating for a reusable thermal protection system, the preparation of a tantalum-based MoSi 2 -Mo coating by a new two-step process of multi-arc ion plating and halide activated pack cementation is presented. The coating has a dense structure and is well compatible with the tantalum substrate, which can be thermally shocked from room temperature to 1750 °C for 360 cycles without failure. The mechanism of the coating’s excellent resistance to high-temperature thermal shocks is that a strong-binding gradient interface and a dense SiO 2 oxide scale with good oxygen resistance are formed by the high-temperature self-diffusion of Si.

Wastewater treatment becomes an important part to improve environmental quality and protect water resources. Thus, developing a new photocatalyst is a key solution for environmental issues. Herein, universal, highly efficient, and novel Bi 2 (O,S) 3 /Mo(O,S) 2 nanocomposite photocatalyst was fabricated by a facile method and the crystal structure, morphology, composition, and optical properties of the as-prepared catalysts were characterized in details. The photocatalytic performance of the catalysts was evaluated by the photodegradation of methyl orange (MO), rhodamine B (RhB), methylene blue (MB), and neutral red (NR), the results showed that 20% Bi-MoOS nanocomposite had excellent photodegradation activity towards all dyes. 96.0% of MO, 96.6% of RhB, 98.8% of MB and 91.3% of NR dyes were removed after 180 min, 40 min, 20 min, and 25 min visible light irradiation, respectively. The photodegradation of these dyes was further confirmed with HPLC. The excellent photocatalytic activity of the nanocomposites was due to the efficient separation and transport of photogenerated charge carriers induced by the fabricated binary heterostructures. The photodegradation fitted well the pseudo-first-order kinetics. The active species capture experiment study showed that, OH, O 2 − and h + all took parts in the degradation of dyes. The stability of the catalyst and reaction mechanism also explained in this work.

Among the groups of excellent electrode materials reported, Ni-Fe based catalyst is a topic of significant current interest for electrochemical water splitting. Furthermore, hierarchical structures are widely used in heterogeneous catalysis in various catalytic processes. A novel hybrid of Mo-doped Ni 3 Fe/Ni 3 FeN nanocatalyst was designed by using a facile method in this study. The Mo-Ni 3 Fe/Ni 3 FeN catalyst exhibits an outstanding catalytic performance for oxygen evolution reaction, as indicated by an ultralow overpotential of 240 mV at 10 mA·cm −2 and a small Tafel slope of 47 mV·dec −1 . This study provides an idea for the development of new eletrocatalysts with more electron transfer channels and higher electrocatalytic performance.

Two melilite ceramics Sr 2 AGe 2 O 7 (A = Mg, Zn) with low permittivity were prepared by a solid-state reaction method. The crystal structure and microstructure of the ceramics were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy , Raman spectroscopy , and scanning electron microscopy. Both ceramics crystallized in a single melilite structure with a tetragonal space group P-42 m (113) and exhibited homogeneous microstructures. Optimum microwave dielectric properties with relative permittivity ( ε r ) of 8.56, quality factor ( Q × f ) of 28,800 GHz, and temperature coefficient of resonance frequency ( τ f ) of −70.5 ppm/°C were obtained in Sr 2 MgGe 2 O 7 sintered at 1330 °C. Sr 2 ZnGe 2 O 7 possessed ε r of 8.81, Q × f of 35,700 GHz, and τ f of −84.4 ppm/°C when sintered at 1290 °C. Thermal stability of resonance frequency was accessible when the negative τ f values of Sr 2 AGe 2 O 7 were adjusted after the formation of composite ceramics with CaTiO 3 .

In this study, the Mo-promoted Ir/SiO 2 (Ir-MoO x /SiO 2 ) catalysts combined with the zeolite HZSM-5 were used for the direct conversion of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) to liquid fuel (C 5 /C 6 alkanes) in n-dodecane/H 2 O system. A synergistic effect was formed between the partially reduced MoO x species and the Ir particles, which effectively promoted the catalytic activity of Ir/SiO 2 catalyst. When the Mo/Ir molar ratio was 0.5, a high yield of C 5 /C 6 alkanes (91.7%) was achieved at 210 ℃ for 12 h. In addition, the main component of C 5 /C 6 alkanes was n-hexane, which was proven to be obtained by the hydrogenolysis of the key intermediate, sorbitol, formed from the hydrolysis and hydrogenation of MCC.
