In this work, a paper-based chemiluminescence excited photoelectrochemical aptamer device (PPECD) was developed for adenosine triphosphate (ATP) measurement based on a porous Au-paper electrode modified with a tin dioxide quantum dot/reduced graphene oxide nanocomposite (SnO2 QD/RGO) integrated with an all-solid-state paper supercapacitor (PSC) amplifier and a digital multi-meter (DMM). The Au-paper electrode was constructed through the growth of a gold nanoparticle (AuNP) layer on the back of the paper working electrode to improve the electron conduction. Fe3O4@AuNP nanocomposites were used as labels of luminol, glucose oxidase (GOx) and signal aptamer which greatly enhanced the chemiluminescence emission and provided a simple magnetic separation approach to attain interference-free measurement for real detection. GOx was used for the oxidation of glucose to produce H2O2 which was not only used as the co-reactant in the CL system, but also as the electron donors to suppress the corrosion of SnO2 QDs under illumination as well as to facilitate the generation of stable photocurrent. A PSC was constructed and integrated into a PPECD as an effective electrical energy storage unit to collect and store the photocurrents. The stored electrical energy could be released instantaneously through a low cost, portable, and simple DMM to obtain an amplified current for the quantification of ATP.

Efficient hydrogen evolution at high current densities requires simultaneous optimization of intrinsic reaction kinetics, multiphase mass transport, and electrode durability. Here, we constructed a binder-free Pt/TiN NTs@3D-TC4 electrode by integrating Pt nanoparticles and in situ-grown TiN nanotube arrays on a three-dimensional printed porous titanium-alloy scaffold. Its high performance arises from three mutually reinforcing effects. First, the work function mismatch between Pt and TiN drives electron transfer from TiN to Pt, producing electron-rich Pt sites and an interfacial built-in electric field. Combined with Pt–N coordination and d - p orbital hybridization, this electronic metal-support interaction optimizes hydrogen adsorption and desorption energetics, thereby enhancing intrinsic hydrogen evolution reaction activity. Second, the periodic macroporous scaffold and nanoparticle-assembled TiN nanotubes create a superhydrophilic and aerophobic multiscale transport network. This network promotes electrolyte infiltration, proton delivery, and rapid bubble detachment while mitigating gas shielding at high current densities. Third, robust Pt–N anchoring and binder-free integration of the catalytic layer with the conductive framework suppress Pt migration, aggregation, and detachment. Consequently, Pt/TiN NTs@3D-TC4 requires overpotentials of only 30.8 and 207 mV to deliver 10 and 1000 mA cm −2 , respectively. It also achieves a Pt mass activity of 20.81 A mg Pt −1 at 200 mV and operates stably for over 200 h at 1 A cm −2 . These results establish a practical electrode design that combines hierarchical transport regulation with interfacial electronic modulation for scalable hydrogen production at high current densities. Interfacial electron transfer optimizes H* adsorption/desorption; multiscale hydrophilic architecture accelerates bubble release and mass transport; Pt–TiN interaction ensures structural stability. The triple enhancement enables scalable, high-current-density water electrolysis. Download: Download high-res image (145KB) Download: Download full-size image

Lead-free organic–inorganic metal halide perovskites have attracted wide attention owing to their outstanding photophysical properties. Herein, a new type of antimony-doped 0D tin(IV)-based organic–inorganic metal halide hybrid (C 10 H 16 N 2 )SnCl 6 :Sb with highly efficient luminescence and remarkable stability is reported. Upon photoexcitation, the prepared samples exhibit an ultrabroadband emission ranging from 400 to 900 nm with two centers at 500 and 660 nm, which originate from free excitons and self-trapped excitons, respectively. Such 0D metal halide hybrids with ultrabroadband emission covering the entire visible spectrum are rare. Especially, the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of red emission is as high as 77% upon 345 nm ultraviolet excitation. More importantly, (C 10 H 16 N 2 )SnCl 6 :Sb exhibits relatively good stability. It can still maintain 90% photoluminescence intensity after one week of 365 nm ultraviolet irradiation. Simultaneously, its PL intensity still retains 61% of room temperature emission intensity at 400 K. This work provides a new direction for the development of 0D organic–inorganic metal halide hybrids with excellent performance.

Here we present a highly flexible and large-area CuS transparent conductive film (TCF) fabricated by colloidal crackle pattern as a counter electrode (CE) for flexible dye sensitized solar cell (DSSC). This rectangular CuS TCF can be fabricated on arbitrary flexible substrates at low temperature and exhibits superior mechanical robustness in bending cycling measurement. The transmittance and conductivity can be accurately controlled by controlling the sizes and shapes of the crackle patterns, ~ 90% transmittance can be achieved when the sheet resistances (R s ) are ~ 60 Ω sq −1 . Moreover, such CuS TCF has strong receivable ability of pH (1−13) and temperature changes (0–100 °C). In the application of DSSC as CE, the cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analyses of the CuS networks exhibit a comparable electrocatalytic behavior with the platinum (Pt) networks on polyethylene terephthalate (PET), yielding a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 4.54% for DSSC based on CuS networks as CE and retaining > 90% PCE after 500 bending cycles. Such CuS TCF with high transparency, flexibility, conductivity and electrochemical catalytic ability shows great potentials in other wearable, light-weight electrochemical cells .

Green-solvent-processed perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have reached an efficiency of 20%, showing great promise in safe industrial production. However, the nucleation process in green-solvent-based deposition is rarely optimized, resulting in randomized crystallization and much lowered reported efficiencies. Herein, a nanostructured tin oxide nanorods (SnO2-NRs) substrate is utilized to prepare a high-quality formamidinium (FA)-based perovskite film processed from a green solvent of triethyl phosphate (TEP) with a low toxic antisolvent of dibutyl ether (DEE). Compared with SnO2 nanoparticles, the oriented SnO2-NRs can accelerate the formation of heterogeneous nucleation sites and retard the crystal growth process of the perovskite film, resulting in a high-quality perovskite film with uniform grain growth. Furthermore, a chlorine-terminated bifunctional supramolecule (Cl-BSM) is introduced to passivate the increasing interfacial defects due to the vast contact area in SnO2-NRs. Correspondingly, the substrate design of SnO2-NRs with Cl-BSM increases the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of green-solvent-processed PSCs to 22.42% with an open-circuit voltage improvement from 1.02 to 1.12 V, which can be attributed to the uniform grain growth and reduced carrier recombination at the SnO2-NRs/perovskite interface. More importantly, the photo and humidity stabilities of the unencapsulated device for up to 500 and 1000 hours are also achieved with negligible interfacial delamination after aging. This work provides a new perspective on the future industrial scale production of PSCs using environment-friendly solvents with compatible substrate design.

Transition metal nitrides have good metallic conductivity and high pseudocapacitance, which have drawn extensive attention in the research of Zn-ion energy storage systems. In this paper, we present a novel fabrication of carbon cloth-supported TiN-coated carbon nanotube composites (TiN/CNTs@CC and TWC) via a CVD–ALD method using ethanol, TiCl4 and H2O as precursors. The prepared TWC composites can be used as self-supported electrodes with good flexibility and conductivity. Electrochemical performance tests show that the TiN/CNTs@CC electrode has a high specific capacitance of 363.5 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1, good rate capability and excellent cycling stability with 92.9% capacity retention over 10 000 charge/discharge cycles. Impressively, the assembled zinc ion hybrid capacitor can achieve a high energy density of up to 81.8 W h kg−1 at a power density of 137.7 W kg−1. Even at a power density of 3013.7 W kg−1, a high energy density of 26.4 W h kg−1 is still achieved. This study provides a new insight into the application of nitride-derived carbon materials in zinc-ion hybrid capacitors.

Indium-tin oxide (ITO) was previously found to have a toxic effect on lung tissues, and oxidative stress and the inflammatory response are two important mechanisms of ITO‑induced lung injury. N-acetylcysteine (NAC) has been found to exhibit antioxidant and anti‑inflammatory properties. The current study aimed to evaluate the possible protective effects of NAC against ITO nanoparticle (Nano-ITO)-induced pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) in adult male Sprague-Dawley rats, especially via modulation of nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling. For this purpose, 50 rats were randomly allocated into five groups (10 rats each) as follows: (1) control group; (2) saline group; (3) NAC (200 mg/kg) group; (4) PAP model group receiving a repeated intratracheal dose of Nano-ITO (6 mg/kg); and (5) PAP model+NF-κB inhibitor (NAC) group pre-treated intraperitoneally with NAC (200 mg/kg) twice per week before the administration of an intratracheal dose of Nano-ITO (6 mg/kg). Rats were then euthanized under anesthesia, and their lungs were removed for histopathological and biochemical investigations. A 6 mg/kg dose of Nano-ITO markedly altered the levels of some oxidative stress biomarkers. The histological examination of Nano-ITO-exposed rats demonstrated diffused alveolar damage that involved PAP, cholesterol crystals, alveolar fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, and alveolar emphysema. The immunohistochemical results of Nano-ITO-exposed rats revealed strongly positive NF-κB p65 and inhibitory kappa B kinase (IKK)-β and weakly positive inhibitor of kappa-B subunit alpha (IκB-α) staining reactivity in the nuclei of cells lining the epithelium of the bronchioles and alveoli. Moreover, Nano-ITO activated the NF-κB pathway. However, pre-treatment with NAC significantly attenuated Nano-ITO-evoked alterations in the previously mentioned parameters, highlighting their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-apoptotic potential. The results indicated that the degree of pulmonary fibrosis and proteinosis in the NAC‑treated group was improved compared with that in the Nano-ITO-induced PAP model group. The level of malondialdehyde was also decreased overall in the NAC-treated group compared with that in the Nano-ITO-induced model group, indicating that the pulmonary fibrosis degree and oxidation levels were decreased. The present study also demonstrated that NAC increased the activity of antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase and total antioxidant capacity, indicating that it could alleviate oxidative stress in the lung tissue of Nano-ITO‑exposed rats. In addition, NAC reduced the production of pro‑inflammatory cytokines interleukin (IL)‑1β, IL‑6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)‑α, and increased the levels of anti‑inflammatory factor IL‑10. The current study demonstrated that NAC can effectively attenuate Nano-ITO‑induced lung injury by reducing oxidative damage and the inflammatory response.

Using TiN-Ti-AlN as the binder, polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) composites containing Y 2 O 3 and not containing Y 2 O 3 were prepared under high temperature and ultra-high pressure conditions, respectively. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to analyze the phase composition, microstructure and surface crack morphology of the composite material. At the same time, the compactness, microhardness and bending strength of the composite material were tested. The research results show that the phase composition of PCBN sample is mainly composed of BN, TiB 2 , TiN, AlN and Y 2 O 3 at an ultra-high pressure of 5.5 GPa and a temperature of 1500 °C. With the increase of Y 2 O 3 content, the relative density of PCBN first increases and then decreases, and the changes in mechanical properties also tend to be similar. As the content of Y 2 O 3 increases, it can be seen that the peak intensity of the main peak of TiB 2 also increases, indicating that the addition of Y 2 O 3 promotes the reaction between cBN and Ti. When the Y 2 O 3 content is 3.6%, PCBN has the best comprehensive mechanical properties, with a microhardness of 34.56 GPa and a bending strength of 890 MPa.

The effect of exogenous hydroxyl, carboxyl groups and/or Sn 2+ on pyrolysis reactions of poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The activation energy ( E a ) of pyrolysis reactions was estimated by the Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose method. The kinetic models were also explored by the Malek method, and the random degradation behavior was determined by comparing the plots of In{-In[1 - (1 - w ) 0.5 ]} versus 1/ T for experimental data from TGA with model reactions. The pyrolysis reaction rate of PLLA was affected slightly by exogenous hydroxyl and carboxyl groups at lower levels of Sn with 65–70 mg·kg -1 but increased appreciably in the presence of extraneous Sn 2+ , -COOH/Sn 2+ , or -OH/Sn 2+ . The E a values for the pyrolysis reactions of the PLLAs that provided lactide were different under the catalysis of Sn 2+ in different chemical environments because Sn 2+ can form the new Sn-carboxylate and Sn-alkoxide with exogenous carboxyl and hydroxyl groups, which were different in steric hindrance for the formation of activated complex between Sn 2+ and PLLA. Under the catalysis of Sn 2+ , a lactide molecule can be directly eliminated selectively at a random position of PLLA molecular chains, and the molecular chain of PLLA cannot change two PLLA fragments at the elimination site of lactide. However, it was regenerated into a new PLLA molecule with the molecular weight reduced by 144 g·mol -1 .

Sensitive detection of prostate-specific antigens (PSA) in serum is essential for the prevention and early treatment of prostate cancer. Simple and disposable electrochemical immunosensors are highly desirable for screening and mobile detection of PSAs in high-risk populations. Here, an electrochemical immunosensor was constructed based on amino-rich nanochannels array-modified patterned, inexpensive, and disposable indium tin oxide (ITO) electrodes, which can be employed for the sensitive detection of PSA. Using an amino-group-containing precursor, a vertically ordered mesoporous silica nanochannel film (VMSF) containing amino groups (NH2-VMSF) was rapidly grown on ITO. When NH2-VMSF contained template surfactant micelle (SM), the outer surface of NH2-VMSF was directionally modified by aldehyde groups, which enabled further covalent immobilization of the recognitive antibody to prepare the immuno-recognitive interface. Owing to the charge-based selective permeability, NH2-VMSF can electrostatically adsorb negatively charged redox probes in solution (Fe(CN)63−/4−). The electrochemical detection of PSA is realized based on the mechanism that the antigen–antibody complex can reduce the diffusion of redox probes in solution to the underlying electrode, leading to the decrease in electrochemical signal. The constructed immunosensor can achieve sensitive detection of PSA in the range from 10 pg/mL to 1 μg/mL with a limit of detection (LOD) of 8.1 pg/mL. Sensitive detection of PSA in human serum was also achieved. The proposed disposable immunosensor based on cheap electrode and nanochannel array is expected to provide a new idea for developing a universal immunosensing platform for sensitive detection of tumor markers. Keywords:disposable immunosensor;electrochemical detection;nanochannel array;patterned ITO electrode;prostate-specific antigen

A photoelectrochemical (PEC) method has been developed for sensitive detection of trypsin. It is based on the use of a composite consisting of MoS 2 nanosheets and TiO 2 nanorods (MoS 2 -TiO 2 ). The material has a high specific surface area, superior electrical conductivity, excellent biocompatibility and good band gap matching. The composite was synthesized by a one-pot method using TiO 2 as a template. This results in a uniform distribution of the MoS 2 nanosheets (<5 layers) in the composite. If the composite, placed on an indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode, is coupled to apoferritin, the photocurrent response decreases due to the insulating effect of the protein. Trypsin, in acting as an alkaline protease, decomposes the apoferritin. This results in the recovery of the PEC signal. Attractive features of this PEC method include (a) a superior PEC signal, (b) sensor stability, (c) simple operation, and (d) the lack of any additional modifications of the biosensor. This warrants high sensitivity, reproducibility, repeatability and practicality. The ITO sensor has a linear response in the 1 to 1000 ng·mL −1 trypsin concentration range and a 0.82 ng·mL −1 detection limit. The assay was applied to the determination of trypsin in spiked serum samples and gave satisfactory results.
Schematic presentation of an indium tin oxide (ITO)/MoS 2 -TiO 2 sensor for detecting trypsin. The PEC signal was decreased after immobilization of apoferritin (APO) on the modified ITO. Trypsin catalytically hydrolyzes APO specifically and induces the PEC signal to recover.

To overcome the issues of fast capacity fading and poor rate capacity for tin dioxide (SnO 2 ) anode materials , an effective strategy is explored to fabricate nanostructured SnO 2 @carbon composites (SnO 2 @C) with large specific surface area, abundant cavity and confined dimension, considering the peculiar nanostructure to achieve increased contact interface between the active materials and the electrolyte, restricted agglomeration of SnO 2 , buffered volume variation, enhanced structure stability, shortened diffusion distance of lithium-ion and electron and improved electronic conductivity . Herein, two kinds of hollow SnO 2 @C nanostructures, namely hollow SnO 2 @C spheres and SnO 2 @C tubes are prepared by a simple approach. Comparing with general strategies involved templates, the preparation process in our strategy is greatly simplified, and the typical and tedious respective SnO 2 coating, polysaccharides coating and template removal are avoided, instead, the three processes are achieved simultaneously. It is believed that our strategy may pave the way for facile preparation of various microstructures of hollow SnO 2 @C composites with relatively uniform size and to a wide variety of applications. More importantly, when tested as promising anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, both the two hollow SnO 2 @C nanostructures exhibited superior electrochemical performance due to the synergistic effect of hollow nanostructure and relatively uniform carbon coating. The SnO 2 @C tubes delivered a reversible capacity of 587.1 mAh g −1 at 200 mA g −1 after 100 cycles. More importantly, the hollow SnO 2 @C spheres delivered a reversible capacity of 612.9 mAh g −1 at 200 mA g −1 even after 300 cycles.
