Although poly[bis(4-phenyl) (2,4,6-trimethylphenyl) amine] (PTAA) is a widely used hole transport layer (HTL) in perovskite solar cells, its poor conductivity and the mismatched energy levels between PTAA and formamidinium-based perovskites increase interfacial carrier recombination and charge-transport resistance. To solve these problems, inorganic CuS nanosheets were synthesized and applied as additives in PTAA for the first time. After the addition of CuS, the conductivity of the HTL improves, and the energy levels are better aligned. In addition, perovskite growth is controlled through the interaction between CuS and PbI 2 , thus improving the quality of the perovskite films, which reduces nonradiative recombination. The addition of CuS into PTAA improved the power conversion efficiency from 21.99 % to 22.92 %. Moreover, both the thermal and humidity stability improved.

The high capacity and selective recovery of gold(I) thiosulfate complex are the greatest obstacles hindering the rapid development of thiosulfate gold leaching technology. In this study, a batch of adsorbents for gold ion recovery from thiosulfate solutions were synthesized by functionalizing polystyrene cross-linked microspheres (PCMS) via nucleophilic substitution reactions using organic phosphines(III) with different carbon number as functional monomers. Increasing the pH of the adsorption solution or reducing the carbon number of the functional monomer in the adsorbent were found to enhance the gold ion adsorption performance of the adsorbent. The adsorbent (PCMS-TMP) obtained from the reaction of trimethylphosphine and PCMS exhibited the best gold adsorption performance, achieving a gold loading capacity of 136.42 mg/g. It also demonstrated selective recovery of low-concentration gold ions (6.175 mg/L), with a recovery rate as high as 98 %. The adsorption process of gold ions on PCMS-TMP was accurately described by the Langmuir isotherm and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The gold adsorption process on PCMS-TMP primarily involved an anion exchange between Cl - and Au(S 2 O 3 ) 2 3- , which was also theoretically validated through density functional theory calculations. Clearly, PCMS-TMP is an adsorbent with significant capacity and selective recovery capabilities for Au(I) from thiosulfate solutions.

ABSTRACT Acute myocardial infarction is a sudden and high-mortality disease that can be accurately diagnosed by measuring the level of cardiac troponin I in the blood. Currently, cTnI commonly used clinical detection methods usually have excellent sensitivity and are suitable for large-scale sample detection analysis. However, most of these methods are operated through multiple steps of fixation, incubation, reaction and separation, and most of them require professionals to operate complex instruments, which greatly limits their applicability in real-time rapid detection. Therefore, a method that requires low professional skills and can perform rapid detection is necessary. We presents an alternative strategy to quantify cTnI in clinical serum samples using a combination of SERS and magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (MMIP). MMIPs was synthesized under Polyvinyl Pyrrolidone (PVP) conditions without vinyl modification using characteristic peptide as template, MAA and DMAm as functional monomers. The internal Raman probe 4-MBA was connected through Ag-SH bonds in MMIPs to solve the problem that the target object had no Raman characteristic peak. MMIPs with high magnetic and adsorptive properties showed characteristic absorption peaks at the Raman shift of 1582 cm -1 after specific capture of the target templates. The Raman signals of the 4-MBA were reduced due to shielding effects and the detection range of this method was 0.001-100 ng·mL -1 . The recoveries and relative standard deviations (RSDs) of the spiked experiments were 103.1%-106.3% and 3.54 %-7.38 %, respectively. In summary, this work had appropriate sensitivity and specificity, and there was no significant difference in detection results after ELISA verification. It provided a flexible and practical analysis method for detecting cTnI based on SERS technology. In addition, the imprinting materials of other disease markers can be prepared by changing the template molecules, which provides a new idea for the detection of other biomarkers.

Three-coordinate copper halide complexes with a bidentate phosphine ligand have received much attention. Here, a series of three-coordinate dinuclear copper halide complexes containing a diphenylamino monodentate phosphine ligand, [CuX(dpnp)]2 (dpnp = N-[2-(diphenylphosphino)-4,5-dimethylphenyl]-N-phenylaniline, X = I (1), Br (2) and Cl (3)), were synthesized, and their molecular structures and photophysical properties were investigated. The structural analysis reveals that two copper(I) centers are bridged by two halogen ligands to form a dinuclear structure with a four-membered Cu2X2 ring. Crystal structures of 1–3 contain 1-D supramolecular arrays constructed by intermolecular C–H⋯π interactions. These complexes exhibit blue emission in the solid state at room temperature and have peak emission wavelengths at 483–487 nm with microsecond lifetimes (τ = 13.9–38.1 μs) and low emission quantum yields (<0.01%). The emission of complex 1 mainly originates from intraligand (IL) transition, whereas the emissions of complexes 2 and 3 are from a combination of MLCT, XLCT and IL transitions. The three complexes displayed good thermal stability.

In this study, the copper-nickel (Cu–Ni) bimetallic electrocatalysts for electrochemical CO 2 reduction reaction(CO 2 RR) are fabricated by taking the finely designed poly(ionic liquids) (PIL) containing abundant Salen and imidazolium chelating sites as the surficial layer, wherein Cu–Ni, PIL–Cu and PIL–Ni interaction can be readily regulated by different synthetic scheme. As a proof of concept, Cu@Salen-PIL@Ni(NO 3 ) 2 and Cu@Salen-PIL(Ni) hybrids differ significantly in the types and distribution of Ni species and Cu species at the surface, thereby delivering distinct Cu–Ni cooperation fashion for the CO 2 RR. Remarkably, Cu@Salen-PIL@Ni(NO 3 ) 2 provides a C2+ faradaic efficiency (FE C2+ ) of 80.9% with partial current density ( j C 2+ ) of 262.9 mA cm −2 at −0.80 V (versus reversible hydrogen electrode, RHE) in 1 m KOH in a flow cell, while Cu@Salen-PIL(Ni) delivers the optimal FE C2+ of 63.8% at j C2+ of 146.7 mA cm −2 at −0.78 V. Mechanistic studies indicates that the presence of Cu–Ni interfaces in Cu@Salen-PIL@Ni(NO 3 ) 2 accounts for the preserve of high-valence Cu(I) species under CO 2 RR conditions. It results in a high activity of both CO 2 -to-CO conversion and C–C coupling while inhibition of the competitive HER.

To significantly enhance reaction efficiency of porous heterojunctions in various applications, precise engineering of customization heterostructures through energy-level modulation is indispensable. Herein, the preparation of a core-shell porous heterojunction, UiO-66@TDCOF, is reported. Taking advantage of adjustable structure of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), the energy-level of UiO-66 core is tailored to precisely align with that of porphyrin-based covalent organic framework (denoted as TDCOF) shell. As a results, the heterojunction transitions flexibly from a type-I to a type-II configuration, which remarkably enhances the efficiency of charge separation under light irradiation, resulting in exceptional performances in chemiresistive gas sensing. Notably, the sensitivity of (NH 2 ) 1.24 -UiO-66@TDCOF towards NO 2 is at a high level among all reported heterojunctions under visible-light condition, surpassing the majority of previously reported MOF and COF materials. This research not only presents a strategy for the design of heterojunctions but also gives an approach to material design tailored for chemical applications.

Precise spectral modulation of plasmonic absorptions in the near-infrared (NIR-I and NIR-II) regions is crucial for matching laser wavelengths in practical applications, driving significant interest in sensing, photothermal therapy, and bioimaging. In this work, we show that silver (Ag) alloying in gold (Au) nanosheets provides tunable plasmonic absorption across both NIR-I (700–950 nm) and NIR-II (1000–1350 nm) spectral windows while preserving their intrinsic two-dimensional morphology. Through controlled variation of the Ag/Au ratio in a seed-mediated synthesis, we observe a continuous blue-shift of the in-plane dipole plasmon resonance from 1000 nm (NIR-II) to 700 nm (NIR-I). Theoretical simulations confirm that Ag incorporation tunes plasmonic responses by modulating both the free electron density and local dielectric environment. This morphology-preserved alloying approach establishes a versatile platform for developing optically switchable nanomaterials with promising applications in multiplexed biosensing and wavelength-selective photothermal therapy.

Interfacial recombination at the defective buried interface of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has long been a persistent and formidable challenge. Introducing molecular bridge via self-assembled molecules (SAMs) offers an effective strategy to mitigate this issue, primarily by chemically passivating interfacial defects that cause nonradiative recombination. However, the influence of SAMs on radiative recombination is often overlooked. In this study, two SAMs with similar molecular configurations but distinct electron-donating/-withdrawing characters─3-thiopheneboronic acid (TBA) and 4-pyridineboronic acid (PBA)─are introduced at the buried interface of n-i-p PSCs. Although both SAMs effectively passivate defects, the PSCs based on them exhibit contrasting trends of performance gain and loss for PBA and TBA, respectively. Mechanistic investigations reveal that TBA featuring an electron-donating thiophene group induces n-type doping in the SnO2 electron transport layer and exacerbates radiative recombination loss, while PBA with the electron-withdrawing pyridine group behaves in an opposite way. These findings highlight the critical role of the electronic effects of SAMs on buried interface recombination beyond their defect passivation function. The trade-off between these two effects is essential for optimizing buried interface engineering through SAMs.

Persistent or refractory apical periodontitis is primarily caused by microbial retention, as conventional root canal treatment often fails to eliminate infections completely, and systemic antibiotic therapy is insufficient to achieve effective concentrations for eradicating bacterial biofilms within root canals. This highlights the urgent need for novel therapeutics offering safe and effective antimicrobial strategies. Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) is a promising approach for root canal disinfection. However, commonly used photosensitizers such as Ce6 suffer from poor water solubility and strong aggregation tendencies, resulting in limited penetration into infected sites. In this study, we developed a DNase I-Lip@Ce6 nanodelivery system by combining deoxyribonuclease I (DNase I) with liposome-encapsulated Ce6. The liposomal carrier facilitated efficient delivery of Ce6 into target bacterial cells, while DNase I degraded extracellular DNA in the biofilm matrix, weakening its protective barrier. This synergistically enhanced Ce6 penetration and therapeutic efficacy, leading to the successful eradication of planktonic Enterococcus faecalis and in vitro biofilms. This strategy offers a novel approach for the precision treatment of persistent oral infections and holds strong potential for clinical translation.

A key challenge in the recovery of Au ions from thiosulfate gold leaching solutions is the design of adsorbents with abundant active adsorption sites, exhibiting high affinity and selectivity toward Au(I), thus enabling its fast, high-purity, and large-capacity recovery. Guided by theoretical calculations, in this study a polychloromethylstyrene (PCMS) material capable of supplying additional charges was functionalized by triethylamine (TEA) to selectively recover gold from a thiosulfate leaching solution. The adsorption of Au(S₂O₃)₂³⁻ onto the functionalized PCMS–TEA followed pseudo-second-order kinetics and was consistent with the Langmuir isotherm model, suggesting a single-molecular-layer chemisorption process. PCMS–TEA exhibited a significant Au-ion loading capacity (81.50 kg/t), highlighting the potential of benzene rings to enhance the charge intensity of ionic adsorbents. Furthermore, PCMS–TEA exhibited good Au-ion selectivity in a copper–ethylenediamine–thiosulfate Au leaching solution. The adsorption mechanism of Au ions on PCMS–TEA involved ion exchange between Cl − in the adsorbent and Au(S 2 O 3 ) 2 3− complex ions. The visual analysis of density functional theory results, based on the Multiwfn and Visual Molecular Dynamics programs, confirmed the presence of a weak interaction between PCMS–TEA and Au(S 2 O 3 ) 2 3− , dominated by van der Waals forces. After five desorption cycles, the adsorption rate of Au ions was approximately 90%, and NaCl was used as the elution reagent. This study introduces a promising adsorbent for the selective recovery of Au ions from thiosulfate Au leaching solutions.

Recently, low-dimensional copper(I)-based halide has been considered as a potential substitute for its lead-based counterpart due to its environmental friendliness, facile preparation and superior luminescence performance. In particular, as a representative efficient luminescent material, it shows great potential as a scintillator for X-ray detection. Herein, three organic copper(I) halide single crystals were grown by incorporating a conjugated organic cation (4-benzylpyridine, 4-bzpy) with copper(I) iodide modules. The three compounds exhibit distinct crystal structure and properties. Notably, the zero-dimensional cubane-like (4-bzpy)4Cu4I4 shows a broadband emission with near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield (∼99.7%) and a large Stokes shift (∼216 nm). More importantly, it demonstrates an obvious X-ray response with a high light yield (∼60 948 photons per MeV) and a perfect linear relationship with the dose rate under X-ray irradiation. The highly efficient emission of (4-bzpy)4Cu4I4 clusters mainly originates from the ligand-to-core charge transfer state. This work not only provides further understanding of the importance of crystal structure in the properties of organic copper(I) halides, but also facilitates the design and fabrication of high-performance X-ray scintillators.

NIR-I electrochemiluminescence (ECL) is emerging as highly sensitive detection strategy due to its low background at the ambient conditions. Nonetheless, the applications of current NIR-I ECL nanoprobes are limited to the harsh synthetic/testing condition, high toxicity, low signal, and poor biocompatibility. In this study, glutathione/lipoic acid-protected trimetallic Au 6 PtAg nanoclusters (GSH/LA/Au 6 PtAg NCs) are demonstrated as an efficient nanoprobe with strong ECL signals around 850 nm in the presences of triethylamine. Critically, the alloying of Ag + into the bimetallic Au 2.5 Pt NCs altered the electronic structures of Pt(II), valences of Au(0), and the zata potentials of NCs, promoting the ECL intensities at 850 nm by 1.0 time. Additionally, the partly ligand-exchange of GSH by LA further increased the ECL intensities at 850 nm by 2.2 times through accelerating electron transfer processes. Meanwhile, the NIR-I fluorescence ( λ emit = 910 nm) was enhanced. More importantly, the utilization of GSH/LA/Au 6 PtAg NCs μg −1 is enhanced by 3000 times after embedding into SiO 2 microspheres ( D , 318 nm). Because noradrenalin has substantial inhibition effects to NIR-I ECL of GSH/LA/Au 6 PtAg/SiO 2 , 1.0 nM−0.1 mM noradrenalin was detected with the low limit of detection as 0.04 nM (S/N = 3) selectively. Biomolecules, glucose, ascorbic acid, or uric acid didn't interrupt the detection of noradrenalin. The sensitivity of this ECL method to detect noradrenalin is much higher than those in previous reports, enabling the early diagnosis of neurogenic diseases.
