However, its poor aqueous solubility restricts its application in functional food. In this work, 6-O-α-Maltosyl-β-cyclodextrin (Malt-β-CD), a new kind of β-CD derivative was used to enhance the aqueous solubility and stability of polydatin by forming the inclusion complex. The phase solubility study showed that polydatin and Malt-β-CD could form the complex with the stoichiometric ratio of 1:1. The supermolecular structure of the polydatin/Malt-β-CD complex was characterized by ultraviolet–visible spectroscopy (UV), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), thermogravimetric/differential scanning calorimetry (TG/DSC), and proton nuclear magnetic resonance ( 1 H-NMR) spectroscopy. The changes of the characteristic spectral and thermal properties of polydatin suggested that polydatin could entrap inside the cavity of Malt-β-CD. Furthermore, to reasonably understand the complexation mode, the supermolecular structure of polydatin/Malt-β-CD inclusion complex was postulated by a molecular docking method based on Autodock 4.2.3. It was clearly observed that the ring B of polydatin oriented toward the narrow rim of Malt-β-CD with ring A and glucosyl group practically exposed to the wide rim by hydrogen bonding, which was in a good agreement with the spectral data. The engineering of electro-assisted adsorption reactors provides potential perspectives to cooperate electrochemical technology and adsorption process for valid elimination of emerging micropollutants in wastewater. Herein, electro-responsive adsorbent is prepared through oxygen plasma-modification of carbon nanotubes (O-CNTs), followed by molding with epoxy resin and carbonization subsequently. The surface and chemical properties of pristine and modified CNTs are characterized by TEM imaging, XPS analysis, Raman, and FTIR spectroscopy , which indicate the successful introduction of oxygen-containing functional groups on CNTs. The electrically enhanced adsorption performance of organic pollutants on O-CNTs is investigated under different external electric potentials, electrolyte concentrations, and pH values. At the applied potential of +0.6 V, the adsorption capacitive of O-CNTs for aniline and phenol are boosted by 2.6 and 3.3 times than that under open circuit (OC) condition, which has an excellent electro-adsorption capacity of 42.12 mg/g for phenol and 41.58 mg/g for aniline, respectively. The adsorption mechanisms of aniline and phenol on pristine CNTs and O-CNTs are evaluated through the modeling fitting of adsorption behavior. The π-π interaction is supposed to be enhanced between the π-electrons of the oxygen-free Lewis basic sites on the graphite layer of O-CNTs and the free electrons on the aromatic rings of the aniline and phenol molecules. This work provides a practical synthetization of electro-responsive O-CNTs adsorbent through plasma technology and the corresponding electrically-enhanced elimination process of micropollutants. More significantly, this finding offers an electro-regulation strategy for CNT-based adsorption material to achieve both high adsorption capacity and high efficiency in contaminated-water treatment.

The development of melamine-formaldehyde (MF) resin-impregnated paper has great significance in the decoration and construction industries. However, the MF-impregnated paper is prone to cracking and burning due to the inherent brittleness and poor flame retardancy of MF resin, restricting its wide application. Herein, we report a hyperbranched polysiloxane (HBPSi@EP) containing a flexible Si–O–C skeleton and tailored terminal epoxy using a simple, low-cost, and easily controlled ester exchange strategy to modify MF resin for fabricating high-performance and multifunctional impregnated paper. The break elongation of MF/HBPSi@EP impregnated paper increased by 186.5% since the energy dissipation of the hyperbranched structure and lubrication of the Si–O–C skeleton enhance its toughness. The tough MF/HBPSi@EP impregnated paper displayed outstanding cracking resistance during the thermal–cooling cycle. Meanwhile, the tensile strength of MF/HBPSi@EP impregnated paper reached 10 MPa, owing to the formation of a dense cross-linked structure by the hyperbranched epoxy in the HBPSi@EP. Notably, this impregnated paper exhibited good flame retardancy (B1-level in GB 8624-2012), cigarette burn resistance (Level 4 in GB/T 17657-2013), and wear resistance (1305.5 r). This facile and effective strategy can promote the development of tough, strong, and versatile coatings, film materials, and multifunctional composites.

In this study, Cu doped carbon dots (Cu-CDs) of uniform particle size and good water solubility was synthesized using Angelica Sinensis Radix as precursor materials through a one-step hydrothermal. The Lucigenin-(Cu-CDs) chemiluminescence sensor allows the simultaneous determination of o -toluenesulfonamide (TFA) and sulfamethoxazole (STZ) concentrations. Under optimal conditions, the sensor demonstrates the capability to detect TFA and STZ within the ranges of 50 μM–800 μM and 15 μM–120 μM, respectively. The limits of detection (LOD) for TFA and STZ are determined as 0.09 μM and 0.05 μM, respectively. While the limits of quantification (LOQ) are established at 0.3 μM and 0.17 μM, respectively. The feasibility of the method for determining TFA and STZ content in chicken samples was substantiated, demonstrating spiked recovery rates ranging from 97.5% to 102.3 % and 97.5%–99.8 %, respectively. The possible reaction mechanism was clarified based on chemiluminescence, UV–vis measurement and free radical analysis results. The newly established system is characterized by stability, convenience, and robust anti-interference capabilities, thus expanding the application of carbon dots and offering a promising strategy for the detection of TFA and STZ.

The addition of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and graphene (G) to nitrogen-doped carbon nanofibers (N–C/CNFs) greatly improves their performance as sodium ion battery anodes. However, there is currently limited research on whether the introduction of nanocarbon materials will affect the surface functional groups, defects, and material structure. Herein, the classical G and CNT were introduced into the N–C/CNFs. And the addition of G promotes the transformation of nitrogen-containing functional groups (NFGs), resulting in a substantial pore structure and an enlarged interlayer distance, which enhances the macroscopic electrochemical performance significantly. The nitrogen-doped graphene/carbon composite nanofibers (N–G/CNFs) exhibit superior electrochemical performance compared to N–C/CNFs and nitrogen-doped carbon nanotube/carbon composite nanofibers (N–CNT/CNFs). After 200 cycles, the N–G/CNFs demonstrate a reversible capacity of 295 mA h g−1 at 0.05 A g−1, significantly higher than the capacities of N–C/CNFs (193 mA h g−1) and N–CNT/CNFs (237 mA h g−1). The Na3V2(PO4)3@C//N–G/CNFs exhibit promising energy and power densities.

Using metal oxides to disperse iridium (Ir) in the anode layer proves effective for lowering Ir loading in proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers (PEMWE). However, the reported low-Ir-based catalysts still suffer from unsatisfying electrolytic efficiency and durability under practical industrial working conditions, mainly due to insufficient catalytic activity and mass transport in the catalyst layer. Herein we report a class of porous heterogeneous nanosheet catalyst with abundant Ir-O-Mn bonds, achieving a notable mass activity of 4 A mg Ir −1 for oxygen evolution reaction at an overpotential of 300 mV, which is 150.6 times higher than that of commercial IrO 2 . Ir-O-Mn bonds are unraveled to serve as efficient charge-transfer channels between in-situ electrochemically-formed IrO x clusters and MnO x matrix, fostering the generation and stabilization of highly active Ir 3+ species. Notably, Ir/MnO x -based PEMWE demonstrates comparable performance under 10-fold lower Ir loading (0.2 mg Ir cm −2 ), taking a low cell voltage of 1.63 V to deliver 1 A cm −2 for over 300 h, which positions it among the elite of low Ir-based PEMWEs.

Smart coatings play a crucial role in achieving excellent corrosion protection on metals and alloys. However, the preparation of smart composite coatings with a dual function of self-reporting and self-healing remains a challenge. In this paper, 1,10-phenanthroline-5-amine (Phen) was grafted onto graphene oxide (GO) by the dehydration condensation method, and flaxseed oil crosslinked o-phenanthroline-modified graphene oxide (PGO) was used as the core and polyurea-formaldehyde (PUF) as the wall, and the harvesting emulsion method and in situ polymerization method were used to prepare microcapsules. The effects of stirring speed, temperature, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) content and core-to-wall ratio on the dispersion of grafting and reaction conversion rate, as well as the microcapsule encapsulation rate, drug loading, and size were investigated to derive the optimal grafting process of PGO and the optimal preparation process parameters of microcapsules. Finally, the prepared microcapsules were incorporated into the epoxy coating, and the early warning, self-repairing and anticorrosive properties of the composite coatings with different microcapsule contents were investigated by impregnation test and electrochemical test. The results showed that the optimal grafting process of PGO was at a temperature of 80 °C, a stirring speed of 750 rpm, and an initial pH of 2. The optimal preparation process parameters of microcapsules were: stirring speed 500 rpm, reaction temperature 50 °C, optimal PVA content 6 % of urea, core to wall ratio 1.25:1. When the addition of PGO was 0.3 wt% and the microcapsule addition amount was 15 wt%, the composite coating showed the best early warning, self-healing and anti-corrosion performance. The warning response time was 5 min, the repair rate was 95.92 %, and the anti-corrosion performance was improved by 10 times.

Au nanoparticles (AuNPs)-poly(o-phenylenediamine) (PoPD) nanocomposite was facilely prepared by a one-step method and used as the built-in redox probe for the decoration of a glassy carbon electrode (GCE). As the template molecules, diethylstilbestrol (DES) was immobilized on the AuNPs-PoPD/GCE surface by using electropolymerized o -phenylenediamine (oPD) as the imprinting layer, which was then eluted from the imprinting layer with the mixture of ethanol and water (v/v, 50 %). The resultant molecularly imprinted PoPD/AuNPs-PoPD/GCE (MI-PoPD/AuNPs-PoPD/GCE) was used for the electrochemical detection of DES in a wide range from 0.1 to 10 μM, and the limit of detection (LOD) was 0.062 μM (S/N = 3). The parameters for DES detection were also optimized in this work. The molecularly imprinted DES sensor showed high stability, selectivity and reproducibility, and it was successfully used for the detection of DES in the milk samples.

Carbon-based materials have excellent conductivity, low cost, and environmental friendliness, making them the primary choice for negative electrode in sodium ion batteries (SIBs). Among them, hard-carbon and soft-carbon as amorphous carbon are considered to have potential as negative electrode for SIBs. However, soft-carbon exhibits a slow charging speed and poor low-temperature performance and hard-carbon behaves a low initial coulombic efficiency, resulting in a key obstacle to their extensive applications in SIBs. Herein, a new N/O co-doping soft-hard carbon nanofiber (PCNF) composite was prepared by electrospinning with heat treatment method, petroleum coke (PC) as soft-carbon and oxygen source and polyacrylonitrile (PAN) as hard-carbon and nitrogen source. The optimal PCNF-800 carbonization at 800 °C delivers an enhancement capacity of 296.1 mAh g −1 at 25 mA g −1 after 100 cycles with the capacity retention of 88.2 %. The excellent electrochemical property is ascribed to the co-doping of N/O in the carbon resulting in the large number of defects which could enhance Na + adsorption and transport, the appropriate interlayer spacing, the porous nanofiber mircostructure, and the synergistic effect between soft and hard carbon. Meanwhile, this study provides a possible new idea for the high-value utilization of petroleum coke.

Cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (C3G) is classified as an anthocyanin (ACN) and is recognized for its remarkable antioxidant properties. Yet, the inadequate physicochemical stability of C3G restricts its potential for various biological applications. Thus, in this study, carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC)-coated nanonutriosomes (NS) were synthesized as a novel carrier for encapsulating C3G (CMC-C3G-NS) to improve C3G stability. CMC-C3G-NS exhibited a diameter of less than 200 nm along with an encouraging encapsulation efficiency exceeding 90%. Notably, the formulated CMC-C3G-NS possessed better stability under various pH, ionic, and oxygen conditions, improved controlled release properties, and higher hepatocellular uptake than uncoated particles (C3G-NS), indicating a longer retention time of C3G in a physiological environment. Of utmost significance, CMC-C3G-NS demonstrated superior alleviating effects against palmitic acid (PA)-induced oxidative hepatic damage compared to C3G-NS. Our study provided promising nanocarriers with the potential to deliver hydrophilic ACNs and controlled release properties for PA-induced hepatotoxicity alleviation.

In the thermal protection system of spacecraft, the bolts connecting the ceramic to the internal superalloy need to have low thermal conductivity and high strength . Two dense high entropy fluorite oxides (Zr 1/7 Hf 1/7 Ce 1/7 Y 2/7 La 2/7 )O 2-δ (ZHCYL) and (Zr 1/8 Hf 1/8 Ce 1/8 Y 1/4 La 1/4 Pr 1/8 )O 2-δ (ZHCYLP) were designed and synthesized by using the synergistic effect of plasma-assisted ball milling and spark plasma sintering(SPS). Through the synergistic effect of lattice distortion and oxygen vacancy guided by entropy regulation, ZHCYLP synthesized in this study has lower thermal conductivity(1.13 W·m −1 ·K −1 ), higher high temperature strength(192 MPa at 1000 °C) and high temperature phase stability up to 1600 °C than 8YSZ ceramics. The thermo-mechanical coupling finite element analysis results of high temperature bending test show that the variation trend of the maximum stress value of the sample is consistent with the experimental results. This shows that the mechanical and thermal properties of high entropy oxides can predict the variation trend of the maximum stress value in high temperature bending tests. It opens up a new way for designing and synthesizing high entropy oxide materials with low thermal conductivity and high strength which can be applied in the field of heat protection and load bearing.
