It is an important strategy to design composite materials with a special microstructure and a tunable electronic structure through structural compatibility. In this work, a novel hexagonal/cubic ZnIn2S4 polymorphic heterophase junction with a three-dimensional multihierarchical structure is successfully constructed by in situ growth of hexagonal ZnIn2S4 nanosheets on the surface of cubic ZnIn2S4 flower-like microspheres prepared by topological chemical synthesis. On the one hand, the multihierarchical architecture provides large specific surface area, abundant active sites, and excellent light trapping capability. On the other hand, the construction of a direct S-scheme heterophase junction enables the formation of a special charge-transfer channel under the force of a built-in electric field, which not only improves the separation efficiency of carriers but also ensures the stronger reaction activity of charges. The prepared ZnIn2S4 heterophase junction composite photocatalyst exhibits greatly boosted photocatalytic efficiency in rhodamine B degradation, hexavalent chromium reduction, and water splitting for hydrogen production, which are 12.3, 6.5, and 3.1 times higher than that of pure hexagonal ZnIn2S4 and 8.1, 5.1, and 2.3 times higher than that of pure cubic ZnIn2S4, respectively, demonstrating its significant potential for applications in energy and environmental fields.

There is growing interest in developing artificial-photosynthesized S-scheme heterostructures in photocatalytic applications. Herein, we proposed a Zn 0.5 Cd 0.5 S/WO 3 S-scheme heterostructure, possessing the trifunctionally catalytic applications of H 2 production in water-splitting, heavy metal photoreduction degradation, and antibiotic photooxidation degradation. We have chosen the optimized component to construct this heterostructure according to the best catalytic performance of Zn 1-x Cd x S solid solutions. These heterojunction composites have been prepared by traditional two-step hydrothermal method, subsequently their heterojunction construction, the photophysical transfer process of photogenerated carriers, and the photocatalytic reaction mechanism have been revealed by systemically characterizations and theoretical simulation calculations. These findings provide new insight into photocatalytic function expansion and the mechanism of photocatalytic activity improvement guided by photophysical processes.

Molecule intercalation has shown distinct advantages in modulating the superconducting properties of 2D materials. Chiral molecule intercalation provides a strategy for tuning electronic properties, while this approach has been limited to a few 2D materials such as TaS2 and TiS2. Although extensive research on 2D SnSe2 exists, chiral molecule intercalation in SnSe2 remains unexplored. Herein, we report the first successful electrochemical intercalation of chiral CTA cations (CTA = 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyltrimethylammonium) into SnSe2 by using piezoelectric R/S-CTA-Cl with a large piezoelectric coefficient of approximately 24 pm/V as the precursors, leading to the formation of superconductors R/S-CTA–SnSe2. Characterization techniques, including powder X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, and circular dichroism spectroscopy, confirm a significant lattice expansion in SnSe2 and the successful intercalation of chiral CTA cations, while polar R/S-CTA-Cl does not endow R/S-CTA–SnSe2 with piezoelectric/ferroelectric properties. Magnetic susceptibility and electrical transport measurements reveal that the intercalated R/S-CTA–SnSe2 materials exhibit a superconducting transition at around 5 K. Notably, the distinct out-of-plane and in-plane upper critical magnetic fields demonstrate the 2D nature of the intercalated compounds. This work highlights an approach for designing and tailoring superconducting materials through chiral cation intercalation and opens avenues for further exploration of chiral effects in superconductors.

Protein post-translational modifications such as phosphorylation and S -nitrosylation regulate protein functions and cellular programs in eukaryotes. Moreover, extensive evidence suggests crosstalk between these modifications. However, we lack a comprehensive method for the simultaneous detection and analysis of multiple post-translational modifications. Here, we present an optimized workflow that identifies phosphorylation and S -nitrosylation sites using a novel phosphate affinity tag switch technique. Validation with model proteins and complex biological samples confirmed the high sensitivity, coverage, and reproducibility of this method. Applying this method to Arabidopsis thaliana seedlings revealed 12,552 phosphorylation sites and 6,108 S -nitrosylation sites, representing the largest single-study dataset of S -nitrosylation sites to date. This approach enhances our understanding of post-translational modification dynamics in plant signaling, stress responses, and metabolism.

Metal-organic framework (MOF) based heterojunctions offer a promising strategy for CO 2 photoreduction, contributing to carbon neutrality and environmental remediation. However, the precise design and control of these heterostructures remain critical challenges. Herein, we report the precise construction of a heterostructure by integrating 2D ZnIn 2 S 4 nanosheets with NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti) for efficient CO 2 photoreduction in a sacrificial agent-free environment. A comprehensive investigation demonstrates robust interfacial interactions and work function differences between NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti) and ZnIn 2 S 4 , facilitating the formation of an interfacial electric field and enabling the construction of an S-scheme heterojunction. The directional migration of photogenerated charge carriers effectively suppresses their recombination, retaining the strong oxidative and reductive potential of the heterostructure components. In-situ infrared spectroscopy provides concrete evidence that the S-scheme heterojunction significantly enhances the formation of key intermediates, which are crucial for CO generation. The optimized NMT-5@ZIS achieves a CO yield of 17.30 umol g -1 h −1 without sacrificial agents, representing 8.6 and 6.6-fold improvements over pristine NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti) and ZnIn 2 S 4 , respectively. This work bestows an innovative insight into the construction of MOF-based S-scheme heterojunctions, opening new avenues for practical applications in energy storage and photocatalysis.

The high-pressure behaviors of 1,3,5-triazine ( s -triazine) was investigated under static and dynamic compression to elucidate the effects of compression rate on its phase transitions and chemical reactions. Static compression experiments revealed that s -triazine underwent a phase transition from phase I to phase II at 0.69 GPa and initiated chemical reactions above 10.84 GPa. Dynamic compression, however, resulted in a more chemically stable overpressure phase II’, which maintained its structure up to 17.32 GPa. The distinct responses to compression rates suggest that dynamic compression induces metastable structures of s -triazine that consume energy, preventing chemical reactions below the energy threshold. This study highlights the importance of compression rate in determining the chemical and physical properties of s -triazine under high pressure.

Simple SummaryImmunosuppressive diseases are frequently encountered in animal husbandry, including porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, swine fever, and infectious bursal disease in chickens. Due to their high mortality rates, these diseases pose a significant threat to the healthy development of animal husbandry. The total flavonoids ofSpatholobus suberectus Dunn(TFSD) exhibit significant immunomodulatory properties, demonstrating their therapeutic potential against immunosuppressive conditions. The study results indicate that TFSD administration significantly mitigates cyclophosphamide-induced immunotoxicity by preserving splenic and thymic architecture while restoring immune competence in treated subjects. Additionally, network pharmacology, molecular docking, and in vivo experiments demonstrated that TFSD can reduce immunosuppression-induced damage by regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway. These findings suggest that TFSD is a promising immunotherapeutic candidate for managing immunosuppression-related immune dysfunction in veterinary medicine. This study investigated the immunomodulatory effects and underlying mechanisms of total flavonoid ofSpatholobus suberectus Dunn(TFSD) and its primary constituent formononetin (FMN) in immunosuppressed mouse models.Spatholobus suberectus Dunn(S. suberectus Dunn) was first analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively by broadly targeted metabolomics using Ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS). Integrated network pharmacology and molecular docking approaches were used to investigate the potential mechanisms underlyingS. suberectus Dunn’s immunomodulatory effects. Subsequently, mice were pretreated with TFSD and FMN for seven days before constructing an immunosuppression model through intraperitoneal injection of 200 mg/kg.bw cyclophosphamide (CTX). In vivo experiments validated the findings and investigated the mechanisms underlying the effects of TFSD and FMN on immunosuppression. Metabolomic analysis identified 501 distinct flavonoids inS. suberectus Dunn, with FMN exhibiting the highest relative abundance among all detected compounds. The primary active components ofS. suberectus Dunnagainst immunosuppression are flavonoids, including FMN and vestitol. The core targets of these components were identified as NF-κB and IKKβ, with the NF-κB signaling pathway being suggested as the most probable mechanism of action. FMN exhibited strong binding affinity to the core targets, NF-κB p65 and IKKβ. In vivo experiments indicated that pretreatment with TFSD and FMN prevented CTX-induced pathological damage in the spleen and thymus and increased immune cell counts and immunoglobulin levels. Additionally, it significantly upregulated the secretion and expression of key cytokines and the mRNA expression of NF-κB p65, IKKα, and IKKβ (p< 0.05 orp< 0.01). In conclusion, TFSD and FMN can protect mice from CTX-induced immunosuppression by regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway, making them promising drug candidates for preventing and treating immunosuppression-related diseases.

The rapid development of high-speed communication networks has imposed more stringent requirements on the comprehensive performance of dielectric materials. In this work, a series of fluorinated poly(aryl ether)s (FPAEs) were prepared from 4,4′-dihydroxy-2,2′-bis(trifluoromethyl)biphenyl (TFBP) and different difluoride monomers through nucleophilic substitution reactions. The FPAE films had good thermal stability, with 5% weight loss temperature (Td5) values of 514–555 °C in nitrogen and glass transition temperature (Tg) values of 178–226 °C. Furthermore, these polymer films showed excellent hydrophobicity, with water contact angles ranging from 92.4° to 98.7°, and water absorption of 0.28–0.87%. Consequently, the FPAE films showed low dielectric constants of 2.07–2.80 and low dielectric loss of 0.002–0.006 at 11 GHz and 30 °C. These outstanding properties were attributed to their high fluorine contents and twisted biphenyl structures in the polymer chains.

Nowadays, supercapacitors as energy storage devices have gradually attracted more attention. In this paper, a tailored “staggered reaction” strategy was employed to synthesize the N/S codoped hollow porous carbon nanospheres as an electrode material for high-performance supercapacitors. This manner features the appropriate involvement of the solvent acetone in the reaction within the system, which enables the sequential reaction process to obtain the core–shell structure with different internal and external compositions. Furthermore, the core could be dissolved by soaking in a formic acid solution, thereby achieving a targeted hollow structure. In addition, in situ doping was achieved by selecting suitable precursors (m-phenylenediamine and 2,4-diaminobenzenesulfonic acid) containing N and S, and the effect of N and S content on performance was investigated in detail. The results reveal that with the increase of N and S content, the specific capacitance of carbon nanospheres first increases and then decreases. Ultimately, the maximum specific capacitances of 398 and 277 F·g–1 were obtained under the current density of 0.2 A·g–1 in a three-electrode system and a two-electrode system, respectively. After 10,000 cycles, the specific capacitance can be basically maintained at 100% with excellent cycling stability.

The persistent challenge of nitrate (NO 3 – ) pollution in water systems, profoundly impacting ecosystems and human health, demands effective remediation strategies. Here, we present an innovative S-scheme Cu@CN/TiO x heterojunction for high-efficiency photocatalytic denitrification (PCDN). Evaluation of its performance demonstrates exceptional NO 3 – removal efficiency (99.5%) and remarkable N 2 selectivity (95.5%), with 13.7 and 4.1 times higher rate constants of NO 3 – removal than the individual Cu@CN and TiO x components. Notably, this catalyst exhibits impressive stability across multiple cycles, maintaining consistent high conversion rates and selectivity. Mechanistic insights unveiled a tandem reaction pathway where Cu@CN selectively reduced NO 3 – to NO 2 – , followed by the TiO x -mediated CO 2 • – generation, enabling highly selective NO 2 – to N 2 conversion. This unique catalytic system, featuring spatially separated redox-active sites, presents a promising avenue for efficient, selective, and stable denitrification processes, offering significant potential in addressing water pollution challenges and advancing tandem catalytic systems.

Eliminating interfacial incompatibility and creating smooth ions/electrons transport at the interfaces of cathode│electrolyte│anode, are keys for the practical application of all-solid-state lithium-sulfur battery (ASSLSB). Here, we report a fully integrated-ASSLSB ( i -ASSLSB) whose interfacial resistances are suppressed by the segmental motion of polyethylene oxide in hierarchical polymer electrolyte throughout the whole battery system. The mobility of ethylene oxide segments and strength of polyelectrolyte membranes can be controlled by the cross-linking degree of single-ion conductive polyelectrolyte. Such a i -ASSLSB without distinct interface achieves liquid-state-level lithium-ion diffusion coefficient of 2.4 × 10 −12 cm 2 s −1 and demonstrates a remarkable capacity up to 1428 mA h g −1 at 0.05 C and 100-cycle stability at 0.1 C. This work promises a valuable technical approach of interface modulation for high-performance all-solid-state lithium-sulfur batteries.

Recently, I-III-VI type quantum dots (QDs) have attracted considerable attention in display technology due to their large-scale tunable emission and environmentally friendly characteristics. However, within this family, narrow-bandwidth Cu-based QDs have rarely been reported. Herein, the synthesis of narrow-bandwidth blue-emitting Cu-Ga-S (CGS)-based QDs is reported by a hot-injection method for the first time, boasting a narrow full width at half-maximum (FWHM) of 29 nm, closely approaching that of traditional Cd-based QDs. Through precisely controlling the temperature of nucleation stage, CGS-based QDs showcase a representative blue emission at 475 nm, featuring the narrowest FWHM and a photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) of 32%. Besides, the femtosecond transient fluorescence (fs-TA) characterization indicates that the narrow-bandwidth luminescence is attributed to band-to-hole recombination rather than donor-acceptor pair (DAP) recombination. The work opens a new avenue for narrow-bandwidth I-III-VI QDs, offering increased potential for applications in blue-light-emitting devices.
