CsPbBr3/Cs2SiF6:Mn4+/2ZnS/Al Rivet Nanostructured Perovskites with Dual-Wavelength Emission for Flexible White Electroluminescence

Ru-Kun Ding,Xiao-Song Zhang,Lan Li,Jian-Ping Xu,Li-Na Kong,Xiao-Kai Gong,Hao Yin,Zhao-Wei Zhang,Qian Li,Long Liu

Lead halide perovskites have received extensive attention due to their excellent photoelectric and photonic properties. However, low stability is an obstacle to material production and optoelectronic applications. In this research study, CsPbBr3/Cs2SiF6:Mn4+ rivet nanostructured perovskites coated with ZnS and self-passivation layers have been synthesized. The rivet nanostructured perovskites are applied in tunable white light-emitting diode (WLED) devices and tunable flexible white electroluminescent (EL) devices. The red and green dual-wavelength tunable luminescence in the rivet nanostructured perovskites has been obtained via Cs ion sharing. Upon the addition of ZnS and a self-passivation aluminum layer coating on the surface of the rivet perovskites, the photoluminescence (PL) intensity and the stability increased by 588.7 and 323.6%, respectively. In addition, a series of spectrally tunable WLED devices with an InGaN blue LED chip and flexible white EL devices is fabricated using the CsPbBr3/Cs2SiF6:Mn4+/2ZnS/Al rivet nanostructured perovskites. The tunable WLED devices can produce standard white light and cold and warm white light. The tunable EL devices produce luminescence even at 60° bending. By studying the temperature-dependent PL spectra of CsPbBr3/Cs2SiF6:Mn4+/nZnS/Al rivet nanostructured perovskites, the energy transfer mechanism at cryogenic and room temperatures is analyzed. At the same time, the protection principle of the self-passivation coating on the CsPbBr3/Cs2SiF6:Mn4+ rivet nanostructured perovskites is discussed.

Improve the durability of lithium adsorbent Li/Al-LDHs by Fe3+ substitution and nanocomposite of FeOOH

Qinglong Luo,Mingzhe Dong,Quan Li,Zhijian Wu,Zhong Liu,Jun Li

The selective extraction of lithium from brine by lithium aluminum layered double hydroxides (Li/Al-LDHs) adsorption is used industrially. To maintain the structural and performance stability of the Li/Al-LDHs adsorbent, the Li/Al-LDHs adsorbent can be doped with some high electron density metals such as Fe(III) and regenerated by dilute Li-containing aqueous solution. In this study, we use Fe(III) doping and FeOOH nanocomposite to stabilize the structure of Li/Al-LDHs. The nanocomposites of Li/Al-LDHs, Fe dopped Li/Al-LDHs (Fe-Li/Al-LDHs), and FeOOH were synthesized by the phase-separated sol–gel method and granulated by using crosslinked alginate polymers. The nanocomposites and granulated nanocomposites were characterized by SEM, TEM, XPS, FT-IR, and XRD analyses. The adsorption–desorption performance of the granulated nanocomposites was evaluated with a single LiCl solution and the brine from Da Qaidam Salt Lake. The isotherms, kinetics, and thermodynamics parameters and Arrhenius parameters of the lithium adsorption of the granulated nanocomposites were obtained. At the 80% mass loading of the nanocomposites in the granulation, the granulated nanocomposites statically adsorbed 9.46 mg/g lithium and dynamically 8.18 mg/g lithium from Da Qaidam Salt Lake brine. The Fe(III) doping and nanocomposite with FeOOH reduced the dissolution of the Li/Al-LDHs in the granulated nanocomposites and did not negatively affect the adsorption capacity of the granulated nanocomposites.

Alloying cobalt in Co–Fe–Al catalyst for achieving the selective conversion of furfural to cyclopentanone

Yuewen Shao,Jie Wu,Zhiyuan Zheng,Mengjiao Fan,Kai Sun,Félix Mérimé Bkangmo Kontchouo,Lijun Zhang,Shu Zhang,Guangzhi Hu,Xun Hu

Production of cyclopentanone (CPO) from biomass-derived furfural is attractive but challenging, as deep hydrogenation or ring-opening of furan ring in furfural over Co-based catalysts hinders the formation of the targeting products. In this study, alloying Co with Fe species in Co–Fe–Al catalysts is proposed for selective conversion of furfural to CPO in water. The formation of CoFe alloy in Co–Fe–Al catalyst weakened the interaction between Co species and the alumina carrier, lowered the adsorption/activation of H 2 , suppressed the formation of especially Brønsted acidic sites, facilitated the electron transfer from Co 0 to Fe species, increased the activation energy for hydrogenation of furfural (from 17.2 kJ mol −1 over Co–Al to 33.4 kJ mol −1 over 1.5Co-1.5Fe-1.0Al), and weakened the adsorption of C C and C–O–C functionalities in furan ring of furfuryl alcohol (FA) on metallic sites. These factors together suppressed deep hydrogenation of furan ring in FA or ring-opening of FA to diols, producing CPO and CPL with total yield of 91.5%, which was attributed to the synergy between hydrogenation and Brønsted acidic sites. In addition, the presence of Fe in Co–Fe–Al catalysts also enhanced the structural stability of Co species, preventing the phase transformation and aggregation of Co species, and rendering the catalyst with superior reusability .

Facile microwave-assisted solvothermal synthesis of rod-like aluminum terephthalate [MIL-53(Al)] for CO2 adsorption

Liwei Sun,Meilin Yin,Zhen Li,Shaokun Tang

To alleviate environment issues derived from CO 2 emission, developing effective and economical methods for CO 2 capture has attracted much attention for decades. Metal-organic frameworks possess high porosity and stability, which is favorable to the adsorption of small molecules. Herein, an aluminum-based MOF, aluminum terephthalate [MIL-53(Al)], was synthesized with H 2 O and N , N′ -dimethylformamide as co-solvent via microwave-assisted method for CO 2 adsorption. The parameters including pre-mixing mode, microwave temperature, microwave power and reaction time were varied to study their influences on crystal structure, morphology and CO 2 adsorption capacity of MW-MIL-53(Al). Wherein, MW-MIL-53(Al) prepared with pre-mixing mode of stirring at 130 °C, 200 W and 3 h presents high crystallinity and rod-like morphology. The synthesized MW-MIL-53(Al) possesses relatively high BET surface area (961 m 2 /g), pore volume (0.46 cm 3 /g) and thermal stability (up to 480 °C), and its CO 2 adsorption capacity is 2.16 mmol CO 2 /g adsorbent under 25 °C and 0.1 MPa, which is higher than CS-MIL-53(Al) synthesized via conventional solvothermal method at 130 °C for 48 h.

Study of ignition and combustion characteristics of kerosene-based nanofluid fuel containing n-Al/CuO thermite

Xiang Lv,Yi Gao,Yueshuai Cui,Chen Wang,Gangchui Zhang,Fang Wang,Peijin Liu,Wen Ao

The ignition and combustion properties of n -Al/CuO/kerosene nanofluid fuels are examined, with a focus on the formulation effects of the n -Al/CuO nano-thermite. The DSC data shows the addition of CuO facilitates the exothermic process of n -Al particles, which then promote the n -Al/CuO/kerosene droplets to evaporate. There are two exothermic peaks on the DSC curve of n -Al/CuO (5 %) at 249.3 ℃ and 463.8 ℃, respectively. The burning of n -Al/CuO/kerosene droplets consists of four stages: ignition, d 2 -law combustion, vapor flame extinguishment, and agglomerate burning. During the agglomerate burning stage, n -Al/CuO (5 %)/kerosene shows the minimum ignition delay at 0.057 s and the highest emission spectral intensity. Droplet combustion conforms well to the d 2 -law, and the maximum combustion rate is found for n -Al/CuO (20 %)/kerosene, at 1.287 mm 2 s −1 . The particle size of combustion residues is uniform, and the overall appearance smoothens as the CuO content increases. A new nanofluid fuel with better ignition and combustion properties than traditional nanofluid fuels is proposed.

Enhanced Hydrogen Generation Performance of Al-Rich Alloys by a Melting-Mechanical Crushing-Ball Milling Method

Lixiang Zhu,Meishuai Zou,Xiaodong Zhang,Lichen Zhang,Xiaoxuan Wang,Tinglu Song,Shuo Wang,Xiaodong Li

The main problem for the application of hydrogen generated via hydrolysis of metal alloys is the low hydrogen generation rate (HGR). In this paper, active Al alloys were prepared using a new coupled method-melting-mechanical crushing-mechanical ball milling method to enhance the HGR at room temperature. This method contains three steps, including the melting of Al, Ga, In, and Sn ingots with low melting alloy blocks and casting into plates, then crushing alloy plate into powders and ball milling with chloride salts such as NiCl2and CoCl2were added during the ball milling process. The microstructure and phase compositions of Al alloys and reaction products were investigated via X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersed X-ray spectroscopy. The low-melting-point Ga-In -Sn (GIS) phases contain a large amount of Al can act as a transmission medium for Al, which improves the diffusion of Al to Al/H2O reaction sites. Finer GIS phases after ball milling can further enhance the diffusion of Al and thus enhance the activity of Al alloy. The hydrogen generation performance through hydrolysis of water with Al at room temperature was investigated. The results show that the H2generation performance of the Al-low-melting point alloy composite powder is significantly higher than the results reported to date. The highest H2generation rate and H2conversion efficiency can reach 5337 mL·min−1·g−1for the hydrolysis of water with 1 g active alloy. Keywords:aluminum alloys;melting-crushing-ball milling;hydrogen generation performance;hydrogen storage

High efficiency Al modified mesoporous SBA-15 catalyst for biomass-derived γ-valerolactone decarboxylation to butene

Haibiao Yu,Xiu Jia,Peng Wang,Ying Xiong,Weijun Shan,Congge Zhang,Zhimeng Song

A series of x wt%Al-SBA-15 catalysts prepared by modified wetness impregnation was investigated for γ-valerolactone (GVL) decarboxylation to butene . It was found that the impregnation of Al species not only remained the ordered mesoporous structure of parent SBA-15, but also created large amounts of Brønsted and Lewis acid sites on the surface of catalyst. The considerable amount of solid acid sites and the suitable Brønsted/Lewis acid ratio endowed 2.23 wt%Al-SBA-15 catalyst an excellent catalytic performance. Under the optimized conditions, the GVL conversion and butene yield can reach 99.8% and 96.6% at 320 °C, respectively. Mechanism studies indicated that the decarboxylation of γ-protonated PEA controlled speed of the whole reaction. Moreover, the catalytic activity of regenerated 2.23 wt%Al-SBA-15 catalyst was satisfactory after eight cycle tests, and the butene yield could still reach 92.2%.

Improved thermal stability of the near-infrared Al-modulated Zn3Ga2GeO8: Cr3+ phosphors for plant growth applications

Hongyu Lv,Zhichao Liu,Chao Wang,Yiyu Cai,Hao Zhang,Ting Wang,Xiuxia Yang,Xue Yu,Jianbei Qiu,Xuhui Xu

The exploration of the high thermal stability near-infrared (NIR) phosphors is significantly crucial for the development of plant lighting. However, NIR phosphors suffer from the poor chemical and thermal stability, which severely limits their long-term operation. Here, the successful improvement of luminous intensity (149.5%) and thermal stability at 423 K of Zn 3 Ga 2 GeO 8 (ZGGO): Cr 3+ phosphors is achieved for the introduction of Al 3+ ions into the host. The release of carriers in deep traps inhibits the emission loss for the thermal disturbance. Furthermore, an NIR light emitting diodes (LEDs) lamp is explored by combining the optimized Zn 3 Ga 1.1675 Al 0.8 GeO 8 : 0.0325Cr 3+ phosphors with a commercial 460 nm blue chip, and the emission band can match well with the absorption bands of photosynthetic pigments and the phytochrome (P R and P FR ) of plants. The explored LEDs lamp further determines the growth and the pheromone content of the involved plants for the participation of the NIR emission originated from Cr 3+ ions. Our work provides a promising NIR lamp as plant light with improved thermal stability for long-term operation.

Research on ethylbenzene dehydrogenation over the Fe-Al-based catalysts in a circulating fluidized-bed unit

Kai Zhang,Peipei Miao,Huanling Zhang,Yue Wang,Guowei Wang,Xiaolin Zhu,Chunyi Li

Background In the traditional ethylbenzene dehydrogenation process, much superheated steam is needed to ensure the activity and stability of the catalyst, inevitably leading to high energy consumption. Methods A novel ethylbenzene dehydrogenation process based on a circulating fluidized bed (CFB) reactor was used for the ethylbenzene dehydrogenation reaction under a low steam-to-oil ratio. In this work, a series of Fe-Al-based catalysts were prepared by a sol-gel method and the effect of alumina content on the catalytic performance of Fe-Al-based catalyst for ethylbenzene dehydrogenation was investigated. Significant findings Among a series of Fe-Al-based catalysts, the FeAl40 catalyst (the Fe-Al-based catalyst with 40 wt. % alumina) had the highest dehydrogenation activity and suitable attrition resistance for the CFB reactor. Further investigation found that the adding alumina could inhabit the formation of KFe 11 O 17 , leading to poor stability. Interestingly, the high activity of the FeAl40 catalyst could be completely recovered through a reaction-regeneration operation. Compared with the conventional ethylbenzene dehydrogenation process, the CFB process benefits from high activity, low steam-to-oil ratio and no induction period. Consequently, the FeAl40 catalyst had high dehydrogenation activity (∼51 wt. % yield of styrene) and low preparation cost, showing an extraordinary potential for industrial application.

Electrodeposition of a dendrite-free 3D Al anode for improving cycling of an aluminum–graphite battery

Junfeng Li,Kwan San Hui,Shunping Ji,Chenyang Zha,Chengzong Yuan,Shuxing Wu,Feng Bin,Xi Fan,Fuming Chen,Zongping Shao,Kwun Nam Hui

Aluminum–metal batteries show great potential as next-generation energy storage due to their abundant resources and intrinsic safety. However, the crucial limitations of metallic Al anodes, such as dendrite and corrosion problems in conventional aluminum–metal batteries, remain challenging and elusive. Here, we report a novel electrodeposition strategy to prepare an optimized 3D Al anode on carbon cloth with an uniform deposition morphology, low local current density, and mitigatory volume change. The symmetrical cells with the 3D Al anode show superior stable cycling (>450 h) and low-voltage hysteresis (~170 mV) at 0.5 mA cm −2 . High reversibility (~99.7%) is achieved for the Al plating/stripping. The graphite | | Al-4/CC full batteries show a long lifespan of 800 cycles with 54 mAh g −1 capacity at a high current density of 1000 mA g −1 , benefiting from the high capacitive-controlled distribution. This study proposes a novel strategy to design 3D Al anodes for metallic-Al-based batteries by eliminating the problems of planar Al anodes and realizing the potential applications of aluminum–graphite batteries.

Biochar/Mg-Al spinel carboxymethyl cellulose-La hydrogels with cationic polymeric layers for selective phosphate capture

Xiangcheng Shan,Liyu Yang,Yumeng Zhao,Huarong Yang,Zuoyi Xiao,Qingda An,Shangru Zhai

Recently, biochar-related phosphate sorbents have been extensively investigated and achieved significant progress; however, there is still much room for enhancement on capturing performance and recovery of powdery ones after sorption. Herein, a new kind of adsorbent, in which biochar/Mg-Al spinel encapsulated in carboxymethyl cellulose-La hydrogels with cationic polymeric layers, was fabricated, aiming for integrating multi-advantages of each component for enhanced phosphate capture. Batch static experiments were correlated to the phosphate adsorption performance of the adsorbent. The maximum phosphate adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was 89.65 mg P/g at pH = 3. The Langmuir isotherm model and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model fitted well with the adsorption behavior of the adsorbent. More importantly, this composite adsorbent that integrated with biochar, Mg-Al spinel, cationic polymeric components exhibited favorable selectivity over coexisting anions (Cl - , SO 4 2- , HCO 3 – and NO 3 – ) and performed good reusability after five consecutive cycles. By virtue of the bead-like feature, fixed-bed column experiments demonstrated that the Thomas model fitted the breakthrough curves well under varied experimental conditions. The adsorption mechanism of phosphate on the designed composite adsorbent with multi-components could be described as the electrostatic attraction, ligand exchange and inner-sphere complexation, which might account for the efficient phosphate capturing performance.

Understanding the Effect of Al Doping on the Electrochemical Performance Improvement of the LiMn2O4 Cathode Material

Wangqiong Xu,Yonghui Zheng,Yan Cheng,Ruijuan Qi,Hui Peng,Hechun Lin,Rong Huang

It is well known that the electrochemical performance of spinel LiMn2O4 can be improved by Al doping. Herein, combining X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and spherical aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy (Cs-STEM) with in situ electron-beam (E-beam) irradiation techniques, the influence of Al doping on the structural evolution and stability improvement of the LiMn2O4 cathode material is revealed. It is revealed that an appropriate concentration of Al3+ ions could dope into the spinel structure to form a more stable LiAlxMn2–xO4 phase framework, which can effectively stabilize the surface and bulk structure by inhibiting the dissolution of Mn ions during cycling. The optimized LiAl0.05Mn1.95O4 sample exhibits a superior capacity retention ratio of 80% after 1000 cycles at 10 C (1 C = 148 mA h g–1) in the voltage range of 3.0–4.5 V, which possesses an initial discharge capacity of 90.3 mA h g–1. Compared with the undoped LiMn2O4 sample, the Al-doped sample also shows superior rate performance, especially the capacity recovery performance.
