A flexible PEO-NaCF 3 SO 3 -MIL-53(Al) solid electrolyte is fabricated for all-solid-state sodium-sulfur batteries (ASSBs). When the mole ratio of EO (ethylene oxide of PEO):Na (sodium ion of NaCF 3 SO 3 ) is 20 and MIL-53(Al) is 3.24 wt%, high ionic conductivities of 6.87 × 10 −5 S cm −1 at 60 °C and 6.52 × 10 −4 S cm −1 at 100 °C are achieved. And the sodium ion transference number is significantly increased to 0.40 from 0.13 compared to the PEO-NaCF 3 SO 3 solid electrolyte without MIL-53(Al). When it is assembled to ASSBs, the batteries obtain high capacity retention and reversible current-rate capability. At 0.1 C and 60 °C, the solid-state battery delivers the first discharge capacity of 897.7 mAh g −1 and 674.9 mAh g −1 after 50 cycles with a coulombic efficiency near 100%. The enhanced electrochemical performances of the solid electrolyte, as well as ASSBs, are benefited from MIL-53(Al) filler.

Post-synthetic modification with β -diketone has been proven as an effective strategy to improve the visible light response activities of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Nevertheless, the effects of the anchored-diketones on the excitonic behaviors and photocatalytic mechanisms of MOFs are still unclear. Herein, two MOFs (MIL-101 with Cr III and MIL-101 with Al III ) were employed as prototypical materials to further understand this post-synthetic modification strategy. Diketone anchoring could enhance the photocatalytic generation of singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) by the two MOFs in a joint mechanism: exciton-mediated energy transfer and photosensitization. Diketone anchoring induced triplet exciton was found playing an important role in the photocatalytic generation of 1 O 2 . The photosensitization of the anchored-diketone also played a key role in the photocatalytic generation of 1 O 2 . The results here provide a useful guidance for the development of MOFs-based photocatalysts and are helpful to realize the regulation of excitonic behaviors and photocatalytic mechanisms of MOFs.

A deep purification treatment of trace volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the tail gas emitted from the top of oil storage tanks was performed. Metal organic framework MIL-101(Cr) (hereinafter referred to as MIL-101) was used to remove trace C4–C6 alkane mixture in the tail gas. Compared with the commercial activated carbon, adsorption and desorption processes of trace C4–C6 alkane mixture as well as the adsorption thermodynamic property of n-hexane on MIL-101 were analyzed. Results demonstrate that the adsorption isosteric heat of n-hexane on MIL-101 is 48–52 kJ/mol, 9 kJ/mol lower than that on activated carbon. Trace C4–C6 alkanes on MIL-101 were desorbed by a nitrogen purge at 393 K, and the desorption efficiency of MIL-101 was up to 98.9%, which is 35% higher than that of activated carbon (∼64.3%). After 10 adsorption/desorption cycles, the desorption efficiency of MIL-101 exceeds 97%, indicating good cycle stability. The desorption process is affected by the spatial fit between the molecular configurations of alkanes and the three-dimensional tetrahedral cage of MIL-101 or by the one-dimensional slit pore of activated carbon. For alkanes with the same carbon, n-alkanes are preferentially desorbed on MIL-101, whereas isoalkanes are preferentially desorbed on activated carbon. Rich mesopores connected with the tetrahedral cages of MIL-101 are beneficial for desorption of trace C4–C6 alkanes. It provides basic data for the deep treatment of VOCs in the tail gas of oil storage tanks.

Efficient photocatalytic abatement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) critically relies on effective separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs and the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Constructing S-scheme heterojunctions is an effective strategy to promote charge separation while preserving strong redox potentials. Herein, WO 3 /MIL-100(Fe) composites featuring interfacial Fe-O-W bonds were synthesized via a one-pot hydrothermal method for photocatalytic degradation of gaseous toluene. The optimized 15%WO 3 /MIL-100(Fe) heterojunction exhibits a 1.3-fold enhancement in toluene removal efficiency (52.6%) and twice the CO 2 conversion rate relative to pristine MIL-100(Fe), along with enhanced degradation for o-xylene and styrene, demonstrating broad-spectrum applicability. The interfacial internal electric field (IEF) in WO 3 /MIL-100(Fe) promotes efficient charge carrier separation and accelerates electron transfer. The S‑scheme heterojunction directs the reductive electrons in the MIL-100(Fe) conduction band and oxidative holes in the WO 3 valence band to generate superoxide radicals (•O 2 ⁻) and hydroxyl radicals (•OH), respectively, enabling efficient ring opening and deep degradation. Moreover, the load of WO 3 enhances Lewis acidity and introduces additional adsorption sites, strengthening the interaction with toluene. This work highlights the rational design of MOF-based S-scheme heterojunctions for durable volatile organic compound abatement.

Dual-mode sensor integrates fluorescence/colorimetric detection for cross-validated acetamiprid monitoring. • Synergistic recognition by MIP and aptamer enhances specificity in complex food matrices. • The MIL-88B (Fe) was used as a dual-signal probe triggered by PPi. • The integration of smartphone-based colorimetric readout and machine learning enhances field applicability. • Achieves ultra-sensitive detection with high recovery in real samples. This work presents a smartphone-integrated, fluorescence/colorimetric dual-mode sensing platform that combines fluorescence and colorimetric detection with support vector regression (SVR) for monitoring of acetamiprid in food. The system employs a sandwich-structured mechanism using MIPs/Fe 3 O 4 as capture probes and aptamer-functionalized MIL-88B(Fe) as bifunctional signal probes. Uniquely, pyrophosphate (PPi) triggers the disassembly of MIL-88B(Fe), synchronously releasing fluorescent 2-aminoterephthalic acid ligands and Fe 3+ ions, which subsequently catalyze Prussian blue formation for colorimetric readout. Furthermore, the integration of smartphone imaging and a SVR mode allows for intelligent translation of RGB color features into precise acetamiprid concentrations, facilitating rapid analysis. The biosensor demonstrates exceptional performance with detection limits of 41.0 pg mL −1 (fluorescence) and 45.0 pg mL −1 (colorimetric), maintaining high specificity in complex matrices. Successful application in fruit and vegetable extracts confirmed its practical utility, offering a sensitive, cross-validation, and field-deployable strategy for food safety monitoring. FeOCl/MIL-88A composites were used to modify the surface of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membranes. • Simultaneous high pollutant degradation (94% RhB, 91% MB) and remarkable antifouling with FRR increased from 61% to 93%. • Low Fe leaching (0.102 mg/L) and sustained performance over 5 cycles confirm excellent reusability and safety. • The heterojunction between FeOCl and MIL-88A facilitates charge separation and generates ·OH and·O 2 − . Catalytic membranes fabricated by surface loading of active materials have shown great potential for antifouling improvement. This study investigated a photo-Fenton synergistic membrane separation process by fabricating a FeOCl/MIL-88A composite on the surface of PVDF membranes, which markedly enhanced the membrane performance. The modified membrane (FM-3) maintained high pure water flux (518.2 L/m 2 ·h·bar) and porosity (80%) while exhibiting hydrophilicity (contact angle of 8°). Compared with the pristine membrane, FM-3 achieved a substantially higher HA rejection (78%) with only a minor loss of permeability, alleviating the conventional permeability–rejection trade-off. Under visible-light-driven photo-Fenton conditions, FM-3 demonstrated high degradation efficiencies of 94% for RhB and 91% for MB, with stable performance over 5 cycles. Moreover, the membrane demonstrated remarkable antifouling performance, with a flux recovery ratio (FRR) of 93% and an irreversible fouling rate (R ir ) of only 7%. Finally, a possible membrane antifouling mechanism is proposed:·OH and·O 2 − are the primary active species in the catalytic process. The formed heterojunction facilitates efficient charge separation and promotes the Fe 3+ /Fe 2+ cycle. DFT calculations further confirmed the electron transfer direction from FeOCl to MIL-88A, providing theoretical support for the proposed heterojunction mechanism. This work provides a novel and effective approach for designing high-performance catalytic membranes with synergistic separation and anti-fouling functions for sustainable wastewater treatment. Fusarium graminearum is a pathogenic fungus responsible for significant plant diseases. To combat infections caused by this pathogen, we designed a pH-responsive nano-pesticide thiabendazole@MIL-101(Fe). Through systematic optimization of the loading parameters, the optimal preparation conditions were determined as follows: the thiabendazole solution concentration was 3 mg/mL, the amount of carrier used was 0.0400 g, and the loading time was 6 h. Structural characterization revealed that MIL-101(Fe) possesses a uniform octahedral structure with a smooth surface. Thiabendazole was successfully loaded into its pores without damaging the crystal structure of MIL-101(Fe). Regarding release behavior, thiabendazole@MIL-101(Fe) exhibited significant pH-responsive characteristics. After 238 h, the cumulative release rate of thiabendazole reached 74.08% at pH = 5.0, while the cumulative release rates at pH = 7.0 and 9.0 were 62.17% and 57.22%, respectively. The release kinetics study showed that the release process of thiabendazole@MIL-101(Fe) followed a first-order model. Furthermore, Ritger-Peppas model fitting suggested that the release mechanism is consistent with Fickian diffusion across pH = 5.0, 7.0, and 9.0. The prepared thiabendazole@MIL-101(Fe) displayed antibacterial activity comparable to that of conventional SC Thi and exhibited no adverse effects on wheat seed germination or seedling growth. This study provides new ideas and methods for the development of efficient and environmentally friendly nano-pesticides.

Water pollution has emerged as a critical global challenge, with persistent antibiotic residues posing severe threats to ecosystems, calling for efficient aqueous remediation technologies. In this study, a MIL-100(Fe) −24 /MoS 2 hybrid catalyst was constructed by integrating MIL-100(Fe) with MoS 2 . The hybrid material served as a heterogeneous catalyst activating peroxymonosulfate (PMS) in a photo-Fenton system for tetracycline (TC) degradation, achieving 80% removal within 30 min. Quenching experiments verified the involvement of both radical and non-radical pathways, with SO 4 • − and singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ) identified as the dominant reactive species. The effects of key parameters including catalyst dosage, PMS concentration, and initial pH were systematically investigated. Degradation intermediates were analyzed, and the catalyst exhibited satisfactory reusability and stability.

Photocatalytic reduction of nitrate (NO3-) to ammonia (NH3) represents a sustainable route for wastewater treatment and chemical production. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) like MIL-125 are promising catalysts, yet their performance often decays during reaction. This study reveals that the aggregation state of Ti3+ sites in MIL-125 is a critical factor governing its photocatalytic efficiency. We demonstrate that the as-synthesized MIL-125, featuring isolated Ti3+ sites, achieves a high NH3 production rate of 738.32 μmol g-1 h-1 under full-spectrum light without sacrificial agents. Comprehensive characterization and theoretical calculations indicate that these isolated Ti3+ sites elevate the material’s conduction band and enhance NO3- adsorption, thereby lowering the energy barrier for the rate-determining step. However, prolonged photoreaction leads to linker deficiency, resulting in agglomeration of Ti3+ sites. This structural evolution causes a negative shift in the conduction band potential, impedes charge separation, and increases the reaction barrier, leading to a noticeable loss in activity over cycles. This work underscores the pivotal role of maintaining isolated metal sites for designing stable and efficient MOF-based photocatalysts for nitrogen cycling.

2-Chloro-4-nitrophenol (2C4NP) is a traditional organic pollutant whose toxicity constitutes a significant threat to both human health and environmental safety. Therefore, developing a method for the accurate detection of 2C4NP in natural environments is imperative. Consequently, we develop a photoelectrochemical sensing platform based on MWCNTs@In2S3/In2O3/GCE in this work. During the construction process, it is discovered that the introduction of MWCNTs accelerated the electron transport rate, which improved the separation efficiency of photogenerated electron–hole pairs in In2S3. Meanwhile, the MWCNTs@In2S3/In2O3 composite materials formed by MWCNTs@In2S3 and In2O3 not only exhibit an S-scheme heterojunction but also preserve the intrinsic advantages of MOFs-derived materials. This synergistic structure endows the composite materials with excellent optoelectronic performance and adsorption capability. Thus, the constructed photoelectrochemical sensing platform demonstrates promising potential for detecting 2C4NP, with a linear detection range from 3 nM to 5 μM. However, compared to some existing platforms, its detection range remains relatively narrow, which may represent an area for future improvement.

The rational design of charge-transfer interfaces is essential for high-performance photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) wastewater remediation. Herein, a novel ternary n-n-p heterojunction electrode, titanium dioxide/NH 2 -MIL-125(titanium)/polyaniline (TiO 2 /Ti-MOF/PANI), was successfully fabricated via a two-step hydrothermal and chemical polymerization strategy, followed by electrophoretic deposition. The optimized electrode exhibited a superior Rhodamine B (RhB) degradation efficiency of 96.1% and a total organic carbon mineralization rate of 67.19% within 70 min under visible light with a −0.8 V bias, significantly outperforming the individual photocatalytic and electrocatalytic processes. The superior performance originates from the synergistic integration of the ternary components. Ti-MOF and PANI broaden the visible-light response, promoting the generation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs under visible-light irradiation. Within this heterostructure, PANI functions as a narrow-band-gap sensitizer and p-type hole-transport layer, while n-type Ti-MOF provides a continuous pathway for rapid interfacial charge transfer. Meanwhile, n-type TiO 2 serves as a robust electron-transport backbone and offers stable surface active sites for subsequent redox reactions. The resulting n-n-p heterojunction establishes an internal electric field that, in conjunction with the applied negative bias, accelerates charge-carrier migration and accumulation at the electrode surface, thereby facilitating RhB degradation. Furthermore, PANI acts as an efficient conductive bridge, shortening electron-transport distances and reducing interfacial resistance. Mechanistic insights from radical trapping and electron spin resonance analysis confirm that •O 2 − and •OH are the predominant reactive species driving the oxidative cleavage of the xanthene chromophore. Overall, this work provides valuable design principles for multi-component PEC electrodes, offering insights into efficient environmental remediation.

A one-pot PEG-modified MIL-88B(Fe) coating was developed for breath aldehydes. • The 10% PEG/Fe³⁺ ratio gave the highest responses for all five aldehydes. • Detection limits were 0.018–0.030 ng mL⁻¹ with precision below 10%. • The coating retained 87.9–93.9% response after 110 extraction cycles. A polyethylene glycol (PEG)-modified MIL-88B(Fe) composite was synthesized by a one-pot route and evaluated as a coating for headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) coupled with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) for the determination of five C6–C10 aldehydes. Among the materials prepared at PEG/Fe 3+ molar ratios of 0, 5, 10, and 15%, PEG 10 @MIL-88B(Fe) produced the highest peak areas for all five aldehydes. Characterization by powder X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and N 2 adsorption–desorption analysis supported PEG modification while retaining the structural characteristics of MIL-88B(Fe). Under the optimized conditions, the developed method provided enrichment factors of 2563–15,562. Calibration curves were linear over 0.1–500 ng mL –1 (R 2 = 0.9911–0.9988), with LODs of 0.018–0.030 and LOQs of 0.059–0.099 ng mL –1 of calibration solution (liquid-standard-equivalent). Intra-day, inter-day, fiber-to-fiber, and batch-to-batch RSDs were 3.9–5.9%, 4.2–8.2%, 4.0–9.8%, and 5.3–10.1%, respectively. The method showed limited interference from representative breath volatile organic compounds, with relative responses of 89.30–92.02%, while matrix effects ranged from 94.7% to 104.1%. After 110 extraction/desorption cycles, the coating retained 87.9–93.9% of its initial response. The PEG 10 @MIL-88B(Fe)-coated SPME fiber was applied to exhaled-breath samples, with spike recoveries of 87.2–105.5%, supporting its applicability to the trace determination of C6–C10 aldehydes in exhaled breath.
