Proton-exchange membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) holds great promise for hydrogen production applications. However, the reliance of PEMWE membrane electrodes on high loadings of expensive iridium poses a significant barrier to their commercial viability. Therefore, the development of high-performance oxygen evolution catalysts with a low iridium content is of critical importance. In this research, a porous antimony tin oxide (ATO) conductive support with a particle assembly aggregate structure was fabricated by a carbon template removal method. ATO-supported IrO2 exhibits significantly improved oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity, with a much lower overpotential compared to the unsupported IrO2 catalyst. Moreover, it achieves 1.8 V at 2 A cm–2 with an ultralow loading of iridium (0.3 mgIr cm–2) for the proton-exchange membrane electrolyzer. Characterization techniques and density functional theory calculations have elucidated that the enhanced performance is attributed to the porous morphology of ATO and the strong metal oxide–support interaction between IrO2 and the ATO support. These findings validate the practicality of conductive nanostructured antimony-tin-oxide-supported catalysts for PEMWE applications and offer a pathway for the design of low-Ir OER catalysts.

Herein, a novel electrochemical hydrazine sensor has been successfully fabricated using N-doped carbon film-immobilized Au nanoparticles coated ZnO jungle on indium tin oxide (AuNPs@NC-ZnO/ITO) as working electrode. The AuNPs@NC-ZnO/ITO has been prepared by an in situ synthesis method through the following steps. Firstly, the ZnO jungle modified ITO was prepared by electrochemical deposition method. Then, zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) film was formed on the surface of ZnO jungle by wet-chemical method using ZnO jungle and 2-methylimidazole as Zn precursor and organic ligand, respectively. The loading AuNPs was performed by adsorption of Au 3+ into micropores of ZIF-8, followed by heat treatment under N 2 atmosphere, where the ZIF-8 converted into N-doped carbon and Au 3+ converted into AuNPs embedded in N-doped carbon film. Most importantly, such AuNPs@NC-ZnO/ITO exhibited good electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of hydrazine. The hydrazine sensor based on AuNPs@NC-ZnO/ITO showed linear detection range from 0.05 to 10 μM and detection limit of 4.1 nM at a signal-to-noise ratio of 3.

The development of efficient electrocatalysts capable of stable operation at ampere-level current densities is essential for industrial water electrolysis. Herein, based on the triple synergistic strategy of “hydrogen spillover-interfacial microenvironment regulation-wettability management”, platinum‑tin (PtSn) nano-alloy modified with dahlia-like cobalt hydroxide fluoride (Co(OH)F) grown on nickel foam (NF), denoted as PtSn/Co(OH)F/NF, was fabricated via hydrothermal and electrochemical deposition techniques. Toward hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), the hydrogen spillover effect is driven by a Gibbs free energy of hydrogen adsorption (ΔG H ) gradient between PtSn alloy and Co( OH )F carrier, leading to a significant increase in the active surface area at low platinum loadings. Additionally, tin (Sn) alloying accelerates water splitting kinetics by modulating the d-band center of platinum (Pt). For the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), the nanoneedle-induced tip effect enhances local electric fields, promoting hydroxide ion (OH − ) enrichment and transport within the electrical double layer. Furthermore, the hierarchical “nanoneedle-nanoribbon-microflower” structure creates superhydrophilic and gas-repellent surface, facilitating rapid bubble release and mass transfer under high current densities. Thus, PtSn/Co( OH )F/NF delivered an overpotential of 15 ± 2 mV at 10 mA cm −2 , and merely 212 ± 1 mV and 378 ± 2 mV to achieve 1 A cm −2 for HER and OER, respectively. Notably, cell voltages of only 1.47 and 1.68 V are required to achieve 10 and 500 mA cm −2 , with an operational stability of 240 h. The hydrogen spillover mechanism was confirmed via density functional theory (DFT) calculation. This rational design strategy yields low-Pt electrocatalysts with optimized morphology and high intrinsic activity, offering a promising route for green energy applications. Employing a triple synergistic strategy of “hydrogen spillover effect-microenvironment regulation-hierarchical structural wettability management,” ingenious dahlia morphology of Co(OH)F decorated with PtSn nanoalloy particles onto nickel foam (PtSn/Co(OH)F/NF) were formulated. This provides a universal and powerful material design paradigm for advancing dual-functional, freestanding overall water splitting catalysts with low precious metal loading suitable for industrial-scale current densities. Recently, lead-based halide perovskites have gained extensive attention due to their outstanding optoelectronic properties. However, the toxicity of lead would seriously limit its future application. To address these issues, in this work novel ligand-free organic–inorganic hybrid metal halide TBASnCl3 (C16H36NSnCl3) quantum dots are synthesized by a one-pot method at room temperature, and they showed high anti-water stability and high potential applications for high-performance UVC photodetectors. Our experimental data showed that the responsivity of the lateral photodetectors Au/TBASnCl3/Au, in which the active layer (i.e. TBASnCl3) was synthesized by further introducing SnF2 as a precursor besides SnCl2, reached 7.3 mA W−1 with a specific detectivity of 1.67 × 1011 Jones under 0.36 mW cm−2 254 nm illumination at −5 V, and it showed a long lifetime even in an environment with an air humidity of 60%. Therefore, it laid a solid foundation for further fabricating lead-free metal halide optoelectronic devices.

Three biacidic tin-based functional ionic liquid catalysts were prepared, including [HO3S-(CH2)3-mim]Cl-SnCl4, [HOOC-(CH2)2-mim]Cl-SnCl4, and [HO-(CH2)2-mim]Cl-SnCl4. A Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer, a nuclear magnetic resonance instrument (1H NMR), an X-ray diffractometer (XRD), and a thermal gravimetric analyzer (TGA) were used to test and analyze the structures, molecular structure, crystal structures, and thermal performance of the three catalysts. And investigate their performance in catalyzing the coupling reaction between ethylene carbonate (EC) and dimethyl succinate (DMSu) to synthesize poly(ethylene succinate) (PES). Orthogonal tests were performed to optimize process parameters, explore the effect of polycondensation temperature on the intrinsic viscosity number ([η]) of PES, and discuss the effect of acidic groups on catalytic performance and the mechanism of the catalytic action. An FT-IR spectrometer and a TGA were used for structural characterization and thermal performance tests on polymer PES, and biodegradability tests (enzymolysis tests) on PES. The results showed that the three biacidic tin-based functional ionic liquid catalysts prepared in this study had a satisfactory catalytic effect. Among them, the sulfonic acid imidazole tin-based ionic liquid catalyst ([HO3S-(CH2)3-mim]Cl-SnCl4) manifested the best catalytic performance. The catalytic mechanism of the biacidic tin-based ionic liquid catalysts was further explained and discussed. Under the optimal process conditions for the transesterification reaction (temperature: 227 °C; material ratio: EC : DMSu = 1; catalyst consumption: 1.0 wt%; time: 5.5 h), PES had a yield of 67.12%, a selectivity of 82.47%, and an intrinsic viscosity number of [η] = 1.052 dL g−1, and had good thermal stability and biodegradability.

The specific aims of this study were to evaluate the inhibition effect on CYP3A of di-n-butyl-di-(4-chlorobenzohydroxamato)tin (IV) (DBDCT), a tin-based complex with high antitumor activity, and the probable mechanism(s) of this action. Adult male SD rats were treated separately with natural saline (NS), lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 5 mg/kg), DBDCT (1.25, 2.5 and 5.0 mg/kg) intraperitoneally for 2 days after induction of CYP3A with dexamethasone (DEX, 100 mg/kg) for 4 days. Western blot analysis and fluorescent quantitation PCR (FQ-PCR) were conducted to determine the changes in expression of CYP3A, PXR, CAR and RXR. The biological accumulation of DBDCT and total Sn were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS). CYP450 content and CYP3A activities were significantly inhibited (p< 0.05) in DBDCT-treated rats compared with the control group, as was the expression of CYP3A (p< 0.05) at both protein and mRNA levels. In DBDCT-treated groups, the expression of PXR protein and mRNA increased, while the expression of CAR decreased. The biological accumulation of DBDCT and Sn in rat livers treated with DBDCT was high. The accumulation of DBDCT and Sn due to the inhibition of CYP3A may be involved in the mechanism of toxicity of DBDCT in rat liver. Keywords:cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A);di-n-butyl-di-(4-chlorobenzohydroxamato)tin (IV) (DBDCT);inhibition;rat

COF-5 is an excellent choice as a lubricant additive due to its high specific surface area and regular layer stacking structure. In this paper, the porous covalent organic frameworks of the COF-5 nanomaterial were successfully synthesized as a lubricant additive via a method of sonochemical synthesis. Pure [BMIM][SCN] (BS) was used as the base oil, and the tribological properties of the COF-5-BS composite lubricant were evaluated by using a ball-on-disk wear tester. The results were demonstrated that the wear volume of BS with the addition of 0.1 wt % COF-5 was reduced by 46.64% as compared to that of the pure BS, and the corrosion on the friction interface was effectively inhibited by the addition of COF-5 nanomaterial. This phenomenon was ascribed to COF-5 with a large specific surface area, being adsorbed onto the friction interface, which could repair the wear-induced pits and prevent the direct contact between the metal substrate and the corrosive medium. The tribological properties of the COF-5-BS composite lubricant could be efficiently regulated under the applied electric current. The results of intelligent electric current-controlled friction were indicated that the average coefficients of friction (COF) under the current stimulation of 30 mA with on/off cycling were reduced by 12.05% as compared to that of a continuous current operated for 1 h. Moreover, the wear volume and depth were reduced by 11.69% and 8.75%, respectively. That is because the short duration of current regulation could enhance the rapid formation of a lubricant film composed of BS liquid and COF-5 nanosheets on the friction interface. Meanwhile, the temperature on the interface would not be high to produce the failure of lubricating film, resulting in an excellent low friction coefficient and excellent antifriction property.

Two-dimensional (2D) single crystal transition metal nitrides (TMNs) with exposed active crystal planes have great value for fundamental science and technological applications. However, it is still a great challenge to synthesize the non-layer crystal structured 2D single crystal TMNs, e.g. the face-centered cubic (FCC) 2D single crystal TiN, which would have distinct properties. Herein, for the first time, an induction-inhibition strategy was successfully developed to break through the intrinsic limitation and the weak anisotropic growth tendency of the FCC TiN. Single-crystalline TiN nanosheet (about 5.14 nm thickness) arrays with exposed {1 1 1} active facets were synthesized successfully on a large scale by the new strategy, where the layer arrays were induced by a layered TiNCl intermediate formed by the chemical vapor deposition reaction of a new titanium source (TiCl 3 ) with NH 3 and the exposed {1 1 1} facets was caused by the chemisorbed Cl inhibitor. The special 2D single crystal TiN arrays exhibited excellent catalytic activity and durability for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) from water electrolysis.

SnS, is a promising anode material for lithium ion batteries (LIBs) and sodium ion batteries (SIBs), however, undergoes poor cyclic lifespan due to its huge volume changes and bad electroconductivity. Here, a modified CVD method is used to directly grow graphene-like carbon film on the surface of SnS nanosheet arrays which are supported by Co-, N-modified porous carbon fibers (CCF@SnS@G). In the strategy, the SnS nanosheet arrays confined into the integrated carbon matrix containing porous carbon fibers and graphene-like carbon film, perform a greatly improved electrochemical performance. In situ TEM experiments reveal that the vertical graphene-like carbon film can not only protect the SnS nanosheet from destruction well and enhance the conductivity, but also transforms SnS nanosheet into ultrafine nanoparticles to promote the electrochemical kinetics. Systematic electrochemical investigations exhibit that the CCF@SnS@G electrode delivers a stable reversible capacity of 529 mAh g −1 at a high current density of 5 A g −1 for LIBs and 541.4 mAh g −1 at 2 A g −1 for SIBs, suggesting its good potential for anode electrodes.

Carbon-based inorganic CsPbX3 (X = I, Br, Cl) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are attracting great attention in the photovoltaic field because of their low cost, simple process, and superior thermal stability. However, the large difference in energy band between the CsPbX3 and carbon electrode leads to the poor hole extraction and unfavorable charge recombination, thus deteriorating device’s efficiency. In this work, a solution-processed dopant-free tin phthalocyanine (SnPc) film is used as a hole-transport layer (HTL) to fabricate carbon-based CsPbI2Br PSCs by a low-temperature process. At the optimal process, the device achieves a maximum efficiency of 11.39% with less hysteresis, which is much higher than 9.22% of reference device without the SnPc HTL. Moreover, the unencapsulated device exhibits the improved stability and remains about 90% of its initial efficiency after 30 days in ambient air (20–25 °C) with 25–35% relative humidity (RH). This finding reveals that the solution-processed dopant-free SnPc HTL can significantly promote charge transport and suppress charge recombination at the CsPbI2Br/carbon interface. This work provides a low-temperature and solution-processed method to fabricate the efficient and stable carbon-based inorganic PSCs.

A new type of nano-SnFe2O4 with stable lattice-oxygen and abundant surface defects anchored on ultra-thin graphene-like porous carbon networks (SFO@C) is prepared for the first time by an interesting freezing crystallization salt template method. The functional composite has excellent rate performance and long-term cycle stability for lithium-ion battery (LIB) anodes due to the stable structure, improved conductivity, and shortened migrating distance for lithium-ions, which are derived from the higher lattice-oxygen of SnFe2O4, abundant porous carbon networks and surface defects, and smaller nanoparticles. Under the ultra-high current density of 10, 15, and 20 A g–1 cycling for 1000 times, the SFO@C can provide high reversible capacities of 522.2, 362.5, and 361.1 mAh g–1, respectively. The lithium-ion storage mechanism of the composite was systematically studied for the first time by in situ X-ray diffraction (XRD), ex situ XRD and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The results indicate that the existence of Li2O and metallic Fe during the lithiation/delithiation process is a key reason for reducing the initial lithium-ion storage reversibility but increasing the rate performance and capacity stability in the subsequent cycles. DFT calculations show that lithium-ions are more easily adsorbed on the (111) crystal plane with a much lower adsorption energy of −7.61 eV than other planes, and the Fe element is the main acceptor of electrons. Moreover, the kinetics investigation indicates that the lithium-ion intercalation and deintercalation in SFO@C are mainly controlled by the pseudocapacitance behavior, which is favorable to enhancing the rate performance. The research provides a new strategy for designing LIB electrode materials with a stable structure and outstanding lithium-ion storage performance.

Graphene oxide (GO)-based membranes have been widely used in the field of wastewater treatment by virtue of their unique separation mechanism, but their practical applications are severely constrained by the problems of selectivity, permeability and membrane contamination. In this study, a novel nanofiltration membrane structure was innovatively designed using a dual strategy of cross-linking and intercalation, with a view to enhancing the membrane separation performance and service life. Modification of GO nanosheets with PEI molecules (polyethyleneimine) at room temperature improved the hydrophilicity of the nanosheets and resulted in a hydrophilic membrane surface and smooth interlayer channels. A novel flower-like type 2 %SnS 2 /Bi 2 WO 6 p-n heterojunction synthesized via hydrothermal and ultrasonic-thermal treatment techniques was embedded in a composite membrane, and the M2 membrane with the best performance was prepared (2 %SnS 2 /Bi 2 WO 6 : PEI@GO = 0.6: 1). The M2 membrane has 12 times (120.9 L m −2 h −1 ) the pure water flux of the GO membrane and retains more than 99 % of the MB molecules. Owing to the stabilization of the membrane structure by chemical crosslinking, after up to 130 h of cycling experiments (photocatalytic cleaning of the membrane surface was performed every 10 h.), the rejection rate of MB was still higher than 98 %. Therefore, for the preparation of high-performance GO-based membranes, this synergistic strategy provides a simple and effective method.
