Cu 2 ZnSnS 4 (CZTS) is strong candidate for hole transport in perovskite light emitting diodes (PeLEDs) due to their cost-effectiveness, deep highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO), and high hole mobility. However, its inherent polymetallic ions usually deteriorate the quality of the perovskite emission layer (EML) affecting device performance. In this study, a bidirectional anchoring strategy is proposed by adding 15-crown-5 ether (15C5) into CZTS hole transport layer (HTL) to suppress the reaction between HTL and EML. The 15C5 molecule interacts with Cu + , Zn 2+ and Sn 2+ cations forming host–guest complexes to impede their migration, which is elucidated by density functional theory calculations. Additionally, 15C5 can neutralize lead (Pb) defects by the abundant oxygen (O) and high electronegative cavities to reduce the nonradiative recombination of FAPbBr 3 film. This bidirectional anchoring strategy effectively improves hole charge transport efficiency and suppresses nonradiative recombination at the HTL/EML interface. As a result, the optimized PeLEDs present a 3.5 times peak external quantum efficiency (EQE) from 3.12% to 11.08% and the maximum luminance ( L max ) increased from 24495 to 50584 cd m −2 . These findings offer innovative insights into addressing the metal ion migration issue commonly observed in inorganic HTLs.

Kesterite-structure Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) has been proved to be a high-performance Pt-free counter electrode (CE) material for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Herein, a green but powerful two-step method based on solvothermal treatment was proposed to synthesize semi-transparent two-dimensional (2D) leaf-like CZTS plate arrays (PLAr) in situ on a FTO glass substrate, without any post-treatments, such as annealing, toxic sulfurization, or coating with other ancillary materials. The growth mechanism of the 2D leaf-like CZTS PLAr based on solvothermal treatment was illustrated. A power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 7.09% was obtained by utilizing leaf-like CZTS PLAr as the CE. Surprisingly, the PCE increased to 8.67% assisted by a mirror reflection. The excellent performance of DSSCs could be attributed to the high catalytic surface area, fast photo-generated electron transport at the counter electrode/redox electrolyte interface, remarkable electrocatalytic activity for I3− reduction, low charge transfer resistance toward the reduction of I3− ions, and high diffusion coefficient of the I3−. This work provides a green and feasible approach to construct high-quality metal sulfide nanoarrays on arbitrary conductive substrates under mild conditions (i.e. low temperature, no annealing, green, speediness) and promotes the development of Pt-free sulfide materials for sustainable photovoltaic applications.

Photothermal therapy (PTT) has been extensively used as an effective therapeutic approach against cancer. However, PTT can trigger the proinflammatory response of dendritic cells (DCs) and macrophages to release proinflammatory cytokines, which can simulate tumor regeneration and further hinder subsequent therapy. Hence, an effective therapeutic system, comprising gold nanoparticle modified Cu2ZnSnS4 nanocrystals and aspirin (Au-CZTS/Asp), was developed to co-deliver PTT agents and inflammatory inhibitors for the synergistic treatment of cancer. Au-CZTS with high near infrared (NIR) photothermal conversion abilities can effectively induce apoptosis and tumor ablation under NIR light. Furthermore, Asp can inhibit the activation of the cGAS-STING pathway in DCs and the polarization of macrophages to intercept the PTT mediated inflammatory responses. Therefore, the as-prepared Au-CZTS/Asp can effectively realize the integration of tumor treatment and recovery. Simultaneously, the Au-CZTS/Asp with ultrasmall size can be rapidly cleared to reduce biotoxicity and side effects. In addition, the Au-CZTS/Asp showed excellent photoacoustic (PA) imaging properties around the tumor in vivo. Thus, our study provides a potential platform for a nano-prodrug that is viable for cancer diagnostic-treatment-recovery integration.
