A one-pot strategy for the preparation of NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe)/CDs composite was successfully developed via a simple solvothermal synthesis method. NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe)/CDs composites were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, TEM, XPS, UV–vis DRS, PL, transient photocurrent response and Mott-Schottky plots. The synthesized NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe)/CDs composites exhibit stronger photocatalytic activity than the original NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe) in both photoreduction of Cr(VI) and photodegradation of MB. This is mainly because on the one hand, there is an interaction at the interface between CDs and NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe), and on the other hand, CDs in the composite as local electron acceptors can effectively enhance charge transfer and inhibit electron-hole recombination. The experimental results show that the pH value greatly affects the reduction efficiency of Cr(VI) over photocatalyst, and the addition of hole trapping agent is beneficial to photocatalytic reduction. Moreover, we have proposed the possible photocatalytic mechanism on composites through trapping experiments of active species. Importantly, cycling experiments have also revealed that NH 2 -MIL-88B(Fe)/CDs photocatalysts have good chemical stability and reusability, and have broad industrial application prospects.

With the advantages of the multiple oxidation states and highly open crystal structures, vanadium-based composites have been considered as the promising cathode materials for aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs). However, the inherent inferior electrical conductivity, low specific surface area, and sluggish Zn 2+ diffusion kinetics of the traditional vanadium-based oxides have greatly impeded their development. Herein, a novel hierarchical porous spindle-shaped Ag-V 2 O 5 with unique heterostructures was rationally designed via a simple MOF-assisted synthetic method and applied as stable cathode for aqueous ZIBs. The high specific surface area and hierarchically porous superstructures endowed Ag-V 2 O 5 with sufficient electrochemical active sites and shortened the diffusion pathways of Zn 2+ , which was beneficial to accelerate the reversible transport of Zn 2+ and deliver a high specific capacity (426 mA h g −1 at 0.1 A g −1 and 96.5% capacity retention after 100 cycles). Meanwhile, the self-built-in electric fields at the heterointerface of Ag-V 2 O 5 electrode could strengthen the synergistic coupling interaction between Ag and V 2 O 5 , which can effectively enhance the electric conductivity and maintain the structural integrity, resulting in superb rate capability (326.1 mA h g −1 at 5.0 A g −1 ) and remarkable cycling stability (89.7% capacity retention after 2000 cycles at 5.0 A g −1 ). Moreover, the reversible Zn 2+ storage mechanism was further investigated and elucidated by kinetics analysis and DFT calculations.

A luminescent reagent, 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarboxylic acid (PTCA), was linked to a metal–organic framework (MOF) Fe(III)-MIL-88B-NH 2 through an amide reaction to form a [email protected] (III)-MIL-88B-NH 2 complex, and then gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were grown in situ. Thus, the [email protected] (III)-MIL-88B-NH 2 @Au electrochemiluminescence (ECL) probe was obtained. The MOF of 2-aminoterephthalic acid with large specific surface area, pore sizes, and structures, which served both as the carrier and a co-reaction promoter, promoted the conversion of more S 2 O 8 2- into SO 4 •- , further enhancing the ECL signal of PTCA. An electrochemiluminescence resonance energy transfer (ECL-RET) platform was designed for the ultrasensitive and highly selective detection of cystatin C (CysC). The developed ECL-RET biosensor presented a linear range from 0.01 pg/mL to 100 ng/mL and a detection limit of 2.2 fg/mL (S/N = 3). Moreover, all the results showed that the developed ECL-RET biosensor broadened the application in the fields of biosensing and medical diagnosis.

MIL-88B(Fe)/cellulose microspheres (MIL-88B(Fe)/CMs) were characterized by the means of SEM, XRD, TGA and N 2 adsorption-desorption test. The composite was used as the sorbent for fully automated dispersive pipette extraction (DPX), after introducing CMs as the support, the loss of MIL-88B(Fe) in DPX was avoided. Coupled to UPLC-MS/MS, the proposed method was employed for the analysis of trace sulfonamides (SAs) in milk samples. The parameters affecting the extraction efficiency, including pH of sample solution, the rate of aspiration and dispense, amount of the adsorbent, type and volume of elution solvent were optimized. Under the optimal conditions, good linearity (r ≥ 0.9978 for five analytes), high sensitivity (limit of detection: 0.00660–0.0136 μg kg −1 ) and satisfactory recovery (69.8%–100.9%) were achieved. Furthermore, the sorbent showed desirable reusability over eight extraction cycles. Compared with other methods for the pretreatment of SAs, the proposed method showed advantages of high sensitivity, less sorbent consumption, environmental friendliness and automation, providing a promising protocol for sample preparation.

Photo-Fenton reaction has received increasing attention in removing antibiotics in water. Herein, Fe 2 O 3 -on-ZrO 2 polypods were designed and synthesized via metal organic frameworks (MOFs) derivation strategy combined with reflux heating and baking. The experimental results showed that under Ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) light irradiation, more than 95 % tetracycline hydrochloride (TC-HCl) was degraded by Fe 2 O 3 -on-ZrO 2 with Fe/Zr mole ratio of 1.3 in 25 min within full pH range. Mainly due to the following points, there were abundant Fe 2 O 3 -on-ZrO 2 heterojunctions, which conduced to transfer photo-induced electrons (e − ) from ZrO 2 to Fe 2 O 3 , thus accelerating the iron cycle. Besides, OH – adsorbed was oxidized to hydroxyl radicals (·OH) by holes (h + ) in the valence band (VB) of ZrO 2 , and ZrO 2 also enhanced the stability of the catalyst and reduced the leaching of iron ions. Finally, the reasonable degradation pathway and degradation mechanism were speculated by high performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), electron spin resonance technology (ESR), scanning Kelvin probe (SKP), the conduction band (CB) and VB positions of Fe 2 O 3 -on-ZrO 2 , etc. This work exhibited a new structure and degradation mechanism, which would further encourage researchers to study the rational regulation of materials with special morphology and structure.

The key to achieve an efficient cooperative photoredox reaction system is to elaborately construct high-efficiency multifunctional photocatalysts with the maximum carrier utilization. Herein, a well-design S-scheme MIL-88B (Fe)/ZIS heterojunction modified with amorphous CoS 1+x cocatalyst (CMZIS) was firstly successfully constructed. The CMZIS heterojunctions show a high H 2 evolution rate of 3164.9 μmol g −1 h −1 coupling with a benzaldehyde generation rate of 3417.8 μmol g −1 h −1 , which are 7.9 and 8.1 times higher than those of pure ZIS. The excellent performance of CMZIS heterojunctions benefits from the synergistic effect of S-Scheme heterojunction and CoS 1+x cocatalysts. This synergy realized the directional transfer and spatial separation of photogenerated carriers in CMZIS, thus inhibiting charge recombination and and maximizing the redox ability of charge carriers. Moreover, CoS 1+x cocatalyst offer more active sites and further enhance the H 2 evolution efficiency. This work will offer fresh insights to the construction and mechanism study of advanced multifunctional photocatalysts for the highly efficient cooperative photoredox reaction system.

More and more attention has been paid to the improved QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe) method in dealing complex sample matrices, especially for the study of QuEChERS adsorbents. In this study, a magnetic mesoporous material, which was derived from MIL-88B modified by l -alanine, was synthesized as modified QuEChERS adsorbents for the simultaneous determination of multiple pesticides (Methomyl, Isoprocarb, Carbofuran, 3-Hydroxycarbofuran, Acetamiprid, Imidacloprid) in Chinese cabbage, celery, long bean and leek. The prepared magnetic adsorbents can effectively remove interfering substances from the sample, and the proposed modified QuEChERS method can reduce sample pretreatment time via an external magnetic field. To achieve the best performance of QuEChERS method, the clean-up time and amount of QuEChERS adsorbents were investigated. Under the optimized conditions, a simple, rapid and sensitive method for the determination of 6 pesticide residues in vegetables was established by coupling the modified QuEChERS to ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Excellent sensitivity (The limit of detection for the 6 pesticides ranged from 0.001 to 0.020 µg kg −1 ), satisfactory linearity (r 2 ≥ 0.9952), good recovery (73.9–107.7%) and good precision (3.6–16.9% for intraday relative standard deviation, 0.5–15.0% for interday relative standard deviation) were obtained. Compared with traditional QuEChERS method, the proposed method is simple, cost-effective, and efficient, which indicates that the method can be used to detect carbamate and neonicotinoid pesticides in real samples and provide an excellent pretreatment technique for the detection of trace multi-analytes from complex substrates.

In this study, a series of carbon nanofiber (CNF) based one-dimensional catalysts were prepared by pyrolyzing MIL-88B(Fe) anchored PAN/lignin electrospun nanofibers, which were then employed to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for bisphenol A (BPA) degradation. The results indicated that adjusting the lignin content in nanofiber precursor could engineer the crystalline phase of iron compounds in the catalysts, as well as their catalytic activity and stability. Specifically, the precursor with lower lignin content was converted into Fe 3 O 4 loaded CNF (P2L1-Fe-C), whereas Fe 3 C loaded CNF was obtained (P1L1-Fe-C) by increasing lignin content to 50 wt% in the nanofiber precursor. Having multiple Fe valence states within Fe 3 C which facilitated internal electron transfer, P1L1-Fe-C exhibited high catalytic activity with high stability and low iron ion leaching when activating PMS for BPA degradation. P1L1-Fe-C/PMS system could produce more kinds of active species including hydroxyl radical (•OH) and multiple non-radical species like singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 ), high-valent iron-oxo species, and electron transfer process. Comparatively, P2L1-Fe-C/PMS system was only able to produce •OH and 1 O 2 . The existence of more BPA degradation pathways resulted in enhanced resistance of P1L1-Fe-C/PMS system towards various environmental interferences. This study inspires a new thinking of developing iron based Fenton-like catalyst with tunable crystalline phases through precursor recipe regulation, achieving both high activity and stability.
