4-Hydroxyquinoline-2(1H)-ones exhibit multiple biological activities, and studying their synthetic methods is of great significance. In the presence of tetramethylguanidine and silver nitrate, 4-hydroxyquinoline-2(1H)-ones were efficiently synthesized from 2-ethynylanilines and carbon dioxide under atmospheric pressure. The reaction conditions, such as types of silver catalysts and reaction solvents, were optimized, and the applicability of the substrate was preliminarily investigated. This method provides an alternative pathway for the synthesis of 4-hydroxyquinoline-2(1H)-ones and the conversion and utilization of carbon dioxide.

The photocatalytic activity and stability of nanocrystals (NCs) are two important issues for their application in photocatalysis. In this work, we report a combined method to promote the photocatalytic activity as well as the stability of CdS NCs for photocatalytic H2 evolution. ZnS shell was grown on CdS NCs forming type I core/shell CdS/ZnS nanocrystals (NCs) to restrain the photocorrosion and passivate the trap states on CdS NCs. Thereafter, dual cocatalysts were loaded to promote the separation and transfer of electrons and holes from the core to outer surface for photocatalytic reactions. It is found that Pt and Ni are effective reduction cocatalysts (RCs) while PdS and PbS are effective oxidation cocatalysts (OCs) for promoting the charge separation and transfer. This strategy was also proved to be effective for other type I core/shell NCs, such as CdTe/CdS/ZnS NCs.

Ultraviolet (UV) irradiation is a major cause of photoaging, driving oxidative stress, inflammation, and extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation. Collagen is central to dermal integrity, yet animal-derived sources pose immunogenic and pathogen risks, while recombinant collagens reported to date often lack the stable triple-helical architecture required for bioactivity. Here, we present a triple-helical recombinant humanized type I collagen (THRCI) that combines native-like conformation with excellent biosafety and regenerative efficacy. THRCI supported fibroblast adhesion, proliferation, migration, and collagen synthesis, while suppressing intracellular reactive oxygen species and pro-inflammatory cytokines. In zebrafish, THRCI reduced oxidative stress and alleviated UV-induced caudal fin atrophy. In a murine model of acute UV photodamage, topical THRCI accelerated epidermal recovery, restored hydration and barrier function, increased dermal density, and promoted collagen fiber remodeling, while downregulating IL-6 , IL-1β , MMP-1 , and MMP-9 . Collectively, these findings indicate that THRCI exhibits effective photodamage-repair properties in our established models and represents a promising animal-free collagen biomaterial for skin regeneration. The rational design of heterojunction photocatalysts is essential for overcoming the persistent challenge of charge recombination in solar water-splitting systems. Herein, a step-scheme (S-scheme) AgI/Bi₇O₉I₃ heterojunction was fabricated using a facile one-pot hydrothermal method, where deliberate interfacial engineering enables efficient charge separation and transfer. The optimized heterojunction demonstrated remarkable photocatalytic oxygen (O₂) evolution activity, achieving a rate of 2046.22 μmol·g⁻¹·h⁻¹ under visible-light irradiation (λ ≥ 420 nm)—3.1 and 1.97 times higher than those of pristine AgI and Bi₇O₉I₃, respectively. Ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS) and electron spin resonance (ESR) analyses collectively revealed that a built-in electric field formed at the interface drives the directional migration of electrons from AgI to Bi₇O₉I₃, following an S-scheme charge transfer pathway. This mechanism not only enhances the separation of photogenerated carriers but also preserves strong redox capabilities for the water oxidation reaction. This study presents an effective interfacial engineering strategy for developing high-performance heterojunction photocatalysts and provides fundamental insights into charge behavior in S-scheme photocatalytic systems.

The sensitive detection of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) is of great significance for the early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Herein, in order to fabricate an electrochemical biosensor for ultrasensitive cTnI detection, atomic layer deposition (ALD) was employed to directly deposit NbS2 nanoflakes (NFs) on carbon fiber paper (CFP). Due to the self-limiting reaction of ALD, NbS2NFs were deposited uniformly and accurately on the surface of carbon fibers by controlling the number of ALD cycles, which ensured ultrasensitive detection. Precise regulation of the nanoscale morphology and electrochemical performance of NbS2 nanoflakes via ALD cycles was observed in depth. Owing to the high surface area and conductivity, an anodic/cathodic current of ∼3.01 mA of NbS2NFs/CFP can be obtained. Subsequently, an electrochemical biosensor based on the excellent performance of NbS2NFs/CFP was fabricated. The ultrasensitive detection of cTnI in a linear range of 1 fM to 0.1 nM with a detection limit of 0.32 fM was achieved.

Here we report two luminescent copper complexes with different structures and luminescent properties, the blue-green [CuI(dmpyHS) (PPh 3 ) 2 ]⸱CH 3 CN (CuPy-PPh 3 ) and the red [Cu 6 (dmpyS) 6 ]⸱H 2 O (CuPy). When the blue-green light (CuPy-PPh 3 ) is heated to above 147 °C, it loses the phosphine-containing ligand, PPh 3 , and turns into CuPy and instead emits red light. Many luminescent complexes show the change of luminescence properties when the temperature is lower than room temperature , while the luminescence change of CuPy-PPh 3 occurs during the heating process above room temperature. Even more interesting, the luminescence wavelength transition span is large, from blue-green light emission at 490 nm to red light at 676 nm. The luminescence of the two copper complexes covers the three primary colors of red, green and blue required for the formation of white light emitting diodes WLEDs, which has potential in the development of non-rare earth phosphor white color displays. The integration of CuPy-PPh 3 and CuPy on a 395 nm near-ultraviolet chip can assemble WLEDs with good white light properties, which provides a new way for the construction of rare earth-free phosphor WLEDs. The synthesis of the two luminescent copper complexes is simple and environmentally friendly. Even though the structures of two copper complexes have been reported, the synthesis methods are different from those in the related literature and the luminescence properties of these complexes have never been described previously. The red emission copper complex CuPy is obtained by the thermal conversion of the blue-green emission copper complex CuPy-PPh 3 , which is a new phenomenon discovered for the first time in this work.

BiOCl 0.5 X 0.5 (X = F, Br, and I) heterojunctions were prepared via the solvothermal approach to achieve the solar-light induced photodegradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH). The photocatalytic activity of BiOCl coupling with BiOI is greatly affected by the molar ratio of Cl/I. The best photocatalytic efficiency of 97.9 % within 120 min is obtained by flower-like BiOCl 0.5 I 0.5 microspheres with a Cl/I molar ratio of 1:1, and the removal efficiency of TCH over BiOCl 0.5 I 0.5 declines to 93.2 % after five cycles. Compared with BiOCl 0.5 Br 0.5 and BiOCl 0.5 F 0.5 , BiOCl 0.5 I 0.5 presents the better photocatalytic activity . Z-scheme junction between BiOCl and BiOI is favorable for the efficient separation and migration of photo-generated charge carriers, and the narrow band-gap structure of BiOCl 0.5 I 0.5 microspheres favors the visible-light harvesting.·O 2 - plays a vital role in BiOCl 0.5 I 0.5 -assisted photocatalytic reaction. However, the change in valance states induced by photo-corrosion is responsible for the solar-light deactivation of BiOCl 0.5 I 0.5 .

In the current situation of energy shortages, saving energy and reducing consumption are undoubtedly valid methods to relieve the pressure on resources. CsPb X 3 ( X = Cl, Br, and I) perovskites as star inorganic materials have drawn growing attention owing to their unique properties, making them suitable for applications such as light-emitting diodes (LEDs), solar cells, photodetectors, or lasers. This work presents zinc oxide (ZnO) induced self-crystallized CsPb(Br/I) 3 perovskite with a 26% photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) prepared by the traditional melt-quenching method. Furthermore, the full width at half maximum (FWHM) (34–44 nm) can be regulated by the ZnO content. In addition, as a downconverter, CsPb(Br/I) 3 perovskite nanocrystals (NCs) realize a bright red backlight that covers ≈ 94% Rec. 2020 standards in the CIE 1931 color space and 126% of National Television System Committee (NTSC). This finding undoubtedly confirms an effective path for fabricating perovskite materials in a green, low-cost, and time-saving way, enriching the knowledge of glass crystallization mechanisms and promoting their applications in wide color gamut backlights.

Micro/sub-microscale fibrillar architectures of extracellular matrix play important roles in regulating cellular behaviors such as attachment, migration, and differentiation. However, the interactions between cells and organized micro/sub-microscale fibers have not been fully clarified yet. Here, the responses of MC3T3-E1 cells to electrohydrodynamic (EHD) printed scaffolds with microscale and/or sub-microscale fibrillar architectures were investigated to demonstrate their potential for bone tissue regeneration. Fibrillar scaffolds were EHD-fabricated with microscale (20.51 ± 1.70 μm) and/or sub-microscale (0.58 ± 0.51 μm) fibers in a controlled manner. The in vitro results showed that cells exhibited a 1.25-fold increase in initial attached cell number and 1.17-fold increase in vinculin expression on scaffolds with micro/sub-microscale fibers than that on scaffolds with pure microscale fibers. After 14 days of culture, the cells expressed 1.23 folds increase in collagen type I (COL-I) deposition compared with that on scaffolds with pure microscale fibers. These findings indicated that the EHD printed sub-microscale fibrous architectures can facilitate attachment and COL I secretion of MC3T3-E1 cells, which may provide a new insight to the design and fabrication of fibrous scaffolds for bone tissue engineering.

Recently, the development of efficient mixed metal oxide catalysts for organic pollutants degradation via peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation is a hot topic in the area of wastewater treatment . In this work, the silver-copper mixed-oxide, Ag 2 Cu 2 O 3 (ACO) was reported for the first time as a highly active catalyst for removing organic pollutants in the presence of PMS. ACO was successfully synthesized from Ag + and Cu 2+ ions at 60 °C, and its structure was strongly influenced by the temperature. The catalyst could almost completely remove p -nitrophenol and other pollutants with 0.65 mM PMS after 20 min, and also exhibited satisfactory stability and recyclability. The system efficiency was shown to vary with the concentration of PMS and catalyst, as well as solution pH. Scavenger experiment and EPR analysis indicated that radicals produced by the oxidation of Ag(I) and Cu(I) with PMS could promote degradation reaction. The synergistic effect between Cu and Ag in the bimetallic catalyst was demonstrated to contribute to the high performance: Cu(II)-O-Ag(I) bonds promote the conversion of Cu(II) species to Cu(I) through reaction with PMS, and facilitate the oxidation of Cu(I) and Ag(I) by PMS to generate active radicals. The study provides a feasible strategy to design efficient and stable bimetal oxide catalysts for PMS activation.

Facing high-energy radiation exposure in many different situations, researchers are focused on developing personal protective equipment against high-energy rays. The design and fabrication of low-density, self-standing, nontoxic, and flexible high-energy ray shielding materials have always been a hot issue in the special equipment manufacturing industry. As key raw materials for high-efficiency X-ray shielding, high-Z element compounds are nonrenewable resources. Therefore, their development and application require far-sighted arrangement. In this work, we demonstrate an easy and general fabrication route of multifunctional high-Z element compounds/polymer nanofibrous membranes through electrospinning and subsequent solvothermal and successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction processes. The as-fabricated BiOX (X = Cl, Br, I)/WO3/PAN nanofibrous membrane exhibits an excellent X-ray shielding capability with a mass attenuation coefficient of 3.55 cm2 g–1 at 83 keV and could achieve a balanced shielding performance by the introduction of inexpensive iodine elements. Additionally, the self-standing hybrid nanofibrous membrane also exhibits remarkable visible-light photocatalytic activities to degrade RhB in aqueous solution, showing potential in water treatment application and providing an efficient and economical route for the development, usage, recycling, and reuse of precious high-Z material-based composites.

Graphene oxide is well known for its excellent fluorescence quenching ability. In this study, positively charged graphene oxide (pGO25000) was developed as a fluorescence quencher that is water-soluble and synthesized by grafting polyetherimide onto graphene oxide nanosheets by a carbodiimide reaction. Compared to graphene oxide, the fluorescence quenching ability of pGO25000 is significantly improved by the increase in the affinity between pGO25000 and the DNA strand, which is introduced by the additional electrostatic interaction. The FAM-labeled single-stranded DNA probe can be almost completely quenched at concentrations of pGO25000 as low as 0.1 μg/mL. A simple and novel FAM-labeled single-stranded DNA sensor was designed for Hg2+detection to take advantage of exonuclease I-triggered single-stranded DNA hydrolysis, and pGO25000 acted as a fluorescence quencher. The FAM-labeled single-stranded DNA probe is present as a hairpin structure by the formation of T–Hg2+–T when Hg2+is present, and no fluorescence is observed. It is digested by exonuclease I without Hg2+, and fluorescence is recovered. The fluorescence intensity of the proposed biosensor was positively correlated with the Hg2+concentration in the range of 0–250 nM (R2= 0.9955), with a seasonable limit of detection (3σ) cal. 3.93 nM. It was successfully applied to real samples of pond water for Hg2+detection, obtaining a recovery rate from 99.6% to 101.1%.Keywords:positively charged graphene oxide (pGO);exonuclease I;fluorescence quencher;hairpin structure;T–Hg2+–T
