A novel graphene/carbon nanotube (GN-CNT) hybrid was synthesized by thermal pyrolysis of urea on the surface of graphene at 800, 900 and 1000 °C. The effects of pyrolysis temperature on yield of carbon nanotubes and electrochemical properties of the GN-CNT hybrid were investigated carefully. The production rate of pyrolysis gas was increased as temperature rising. The GN-CNT hybrid reached the largest surface area and the generation of a mass of pores at the pyrolysis temperature of 900 °C due to the carbon nanotubes cracking during pyrolysis at 1000 °C. The properties of favorable 3D architecture, the generation of a mass of pores during the release of carbon nitride gases and outstanding mechanical flexibility, showed pronounced effects on the fast and steady transfer of electrons and sodium-ion. Consequently, the GN-CNT hybrid pyrolysized at 900 °C exhibit a very high reversible capacity of up to 269.14 mAh g −1 after 100 cycles at a current density of 300 mA g −1 . Even up to 5 A g −1 , a rate capacity of 195.37 mA h g −1 can be obtained after 700 cycles.

This study addresses the unclear crystallization behavior of rubidium in chlorobromine coexisting brine systems through experimental and simulation approaches. First, the phase equilibrium data of the ternary system RbCl–RbBr–H2O at 298.15 K were determined using the isothermal dissolution equilibrium method, and the corresponding phase diagram was constructed. The solid phase was characterized by XRD and SEM-EDS, and solubility was theoretically calculated and validated using the Pitzer model. To further elucidate the solid-solution formation behavior of rubidium in chlorobromine coexisting brine systems at the microscopic level, molecular dynamics simulations were performed. Combined with the previously reported phase diagrams of MCl–MBr–H2O systems (M = Li+, Na+, K+, NH4+), the radial distribution functions, coordination numbers, and mean square displacements of different systems were systematically analyzed to examine the differences in ionic hydration structures and migration behavior. From macroscopic phase equilibria to microscopic ion dynamics, this study systematically clarifies the common patterns of formation of continuous solid solutions in chlorobromine coexisting brine systems.

It is not easy to in-situ probe the structural evolution in assembly systems in solutions. Determining the activation energy of the molecular processes in vesicle formation, which is important in revealing the mechanism in the transformation of vesicles, is also challenging. In this work, with the combined second harmonic generation (SHG) and two-photon fluorescence (TPF) techniques, we determined that the activation energies of the aggregation of micelles , the evolution of aggregated micelles to vesicles and the penetration of an anticancer drug (doxorubicin, DOX) on the surface of vesicles composed of DOX and a surfactant bis (2-ethylhexyl) sodium sulfosuccinate (AOT) were 48.6 kJ/mol, 49.4 kJ/mol and 20.5 kJ/mol, respectively. In addition, we investigated the effect of different types of salts on the self-assembly behavior of DOX and AOT molecules. It was observed that compared with Na + , Ca 2+ significantly reduced the activation energy in the transformation of aggregated micelles to vesicles at a much lower concentration, which indicated a strong association ability between Ca 2+ and AOT head group.

Na–CO 2 batteries are prospective in energy storage and CO 2 recycling applications; development of a high-efficiency, low-cost electrocatalyst to promote CO 2 reduction and carbonate decomposition is extremely vital for practical Na–CO 2 batteries. Herein, a highly efficient cathode catalyst for rechargeable hybrid Na–CO 2 batteries is successfully synthesized by encapsulating highly dispersed Co/Co 9 S 8 nanoparticles into carbon skeletons, consisting of biomass-derived S, N-co-doped hierarchically porous carbon (Co/Co 9 S 8 @SNHC). The conductive and hierarchically porous framework structure of the Co/Co 9 S 8 @SNHC can not only accelerate electron transport , electrolyte infiltration , and CO 2 diffusion but also can inhibit overgrowth and agglomeration of Co/Co 9 S 8 nanoparticles and expose numerous high density of active sites, as well as offer sufficient space to store discharge products. Benefiting from the synergistic effect among S and N dopants , carbon defects, and Co/Co 9 S 8 nanoparticles in robust porous carbon structure, the hybrid Na–CO 2 batteries displayed a low charge overpotential (only ~0.32 V) at 0.2 mA/cm 2 and repeatedly charged and discharged over 200 cycles at 0.1 mA/cm 2 . Besides, an ultrahigh areal capacity of ~18.9 mAh/cm 2 was obtained at 0.5 mA/cm 2 , the highest value to date for Na–CO 2 batteries. Meanwhile, the hybrid Na–CO 2 battery charging from Na 2 CO 3 @C catalytic cathode demonstrated the high catalytic activity of biomass-derived S,N-co-doped hierarchically porous carbon (Co/Co 9 S 8 @SNHC) for CO 2 reduction and carbonate decomposition. Given this finding, this work might open up a potential avenue for the reasonable design of low-cost and highly efficient catalysts for advanced metal-CO 2 batteries systems.

Light-emitting perovskite quantum dots (PeQDs) are extensively investigated owing to their evident merits. However, it is still a challenge to adjust their intrinsic emissions and enhance their thermal stability to achieve full-color highly emissive QD-based light-emitting diodes (QLEDs), especially blue QLEDs. Herein, we demonstrate an effective strategy to fundamentally stabilize the crystal structure of CsPbBr 3 QDs by codoping Na + and Cu 2+ ions, which are designed to substitute Cs + (A sites) and Pb 2+ (B sites), respectively. It is found out that the codoping metal ions have significantly improved the thermal stability and the optical properties of the QDs. 40% of the emission intensity can be remained after 8 thermal cycles (20–120 °C) for CsPbBr 3 : Na + /Cu 2+ QDs, whilst less than 10% is maintained for undoped CsPbBr 3 QDs. Accordingly, stable blue QLEDs are packed by CsPbBr 3 : Na + /Cu 2+ QDs. Strong electroluminescence with the maximum luminance of 7161 cd m −2 and low turn-on voltage of 2.4 V are realized. The CIE coordinates are tuned from green (0.10, 0.74) to blue (0.17, 0.25) via Na + and Cu 2+ codoping. The maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE max ) is obtained as 4.52% for PeLEDs based on codoped QDs. The proposed metal ions A and B sites dual substitution strategy guarantees PeQDs as an extremely promising prospect in potential applications as high-resolution displays and high-quality lightings.

Nowadays, attractive progress has been made on flexible humidity sensors for multifunctional applications, yet most of them still suffer from intrinsic instability due to the device structure based on flexible substrates. Herein, high-performance flexible humidity sensors were constructed using alkali metal halide doped polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)/polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) freestanding films. These films are prepared via a versatile thermally induced phase separation procedure with a network-like porous structure. After doping with metal salts of MCl (M = Li, Na, K), the humidity sensing performance is highly improved, among which the LiCl@PVP/PVDF film is the optimized one. In the relative humidity range of 11–97% at room temperature, the LiCl@PVP/PVDF sensor exhibits high response (2.3 × 103), fast response (10 s), small hysteresis (0.41%), and excellent repeatability. Notably, the LiCl@PVP/PVDF film is featured as fully self-supporting without the assistance of any substrate, readily tailorable that can be cut into different shapes, as well as highly flexible that can be bent to certain angles, and meanwhile almost maintains its response without significant decrease. Furthermore, the excellent performance enables the LiCl@PVP/PVDF sensor to demonstrate great potential in real-time noncontact diaper and finger detection. This contribution provides a practical humidity sensing candidate for moisture monitoring and gives insights into the fields of humidity sensors and flexible electronics.

With the rapid development of industry, water pollution has become one of the important problems that harm the ecological environment and human health. The extensive use and random discharge of dyes have caused serious damage to water resources. Hydrogel bead is a promising material for dye adsorption due to its advantages of rich functional groups and high specific surface area. Here, acrylic acid sodium salt (AAS) and 2-acrylamide-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid (AMPS) as monomers, N,N’-Methylene-bis-acrylamide (MBA) as crosslinking agent, sodium alginate (SA) as semi-interpenetrating network component, laponite as nano-clay additive, and single 2′,4′,5′,7′ −tetrabromofluorescein disodium salt (EY)/ Triethanolamine (TEOA)/ diphenyl iodonium hexafluorophosphate (DPI) as green light polymerization initiating system were combined to prepare composite hydrogel beads within 10 s under green LED irradiation. The composite hydrogels were characterized by infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analyzer (TG), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The addition of sodium alginate and laponite can improve the mechanical properties of hydrogel beads. In the adsorption study of malachite green, the influence of time, temperature, dye concentration, pH, ionic strength, and other factors on the adsorption effect were investigated. The adsorption process was consistent with the second-order kinetic process and Langmuir adsorption. At room temperature, the highest adsorption capacity of the hydrogel beads for malachite green reached 829.63 mg/g. The PAAS-SL hydrogel beads maintained a high adsorption effect in the pH range (3–10), and the capacity reached 575.0 mg /g at pH 3, which had a good ability to resist low pH. In the adsorption–desorption experiments, the removal rate of PAAS-SL hydrogel beads for MG is still more than 80 % after 5 cycles. Our research provides a promising strategy for the efficient and rapid preparation of hydrogel beads with excellent properties.

Li-rich Co-free Mn-based cathode materials have attracted considerable attention in the development of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to their impressive theoretical capacity and cost-effectiveness. Nevertheless, the inherent shortcomings in cycling stability and rate capability hinder their widespread application. Herein, Na-doped Li 1.2-x Na x Mn 0.6 Ni 0.2 O 2 (x = 0, 0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.08, 0.10) is synthesized using Na 2 CO 3 as the source of Na. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the presence of Na + introduction enlarges the between-layer spacing of Li 1.2 Mn 0.6 Ni 0.2 O 2 , reduces the band gap width, reduces the cation mixing phenomenon, and increases the Li + diffusion rate and electronic conductivity. Experimental electrochemical assessments demonstrate that the cathode material with a Na doping level of 0.03 exhibits remarkable performance: it achieves a discharge specific capacity of 204 mAh·g −1 at 0.1C and retains 87.4% of its capacity after 100 cycles. These findings underscore the efficacy of Na doping in enhancing the electrochemical properties of Li-rich Mn-based cathode materials, thereby advancing their potential for practical application in LIBs.

Alluaudite-type Na 2+2x Fe 2-2x (SO 4 ) 3 (NFS) compounds, as a promising polyanionic cathode material for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs), have attracted considerable attention owing to their cost-effectiveness and elevated operating voltage. Nevertheless, practical implementation of NFS has been hindered by inherent limitations including insufficient crystallinity and compromised electronic/ionic conductivity. Herein, we propose a pioneering dual-strategy integrating cation substitution with crystal engineering to synthesize Mg 2+ -doped single-crystalline NFS enveloped by flash graphene (denoted as [email protected] ). Through synchrotron radiation characterization complemented by density functional theory (DFT) simulations, we verified the preferential occupation of magnesium at the target iron site. Notably, while preserving the fundamental alluaudite framework, this strategic doping induced a band structure modulation with reduced bandgap and diminished Na⁺ diffusion barriers, synergistically enhancing charge transfer kinetics. The optimized [email protected] cathode delivers remarkable rate performance (63 mAh g -1 at 100C vs 21 mAh g -1 for the undoped counterpart) and unprecedented cyclability, retaining 92.8 % capacity after 7,000 cycles at 50C. In addition, the pillar effect of Mg 2+ in the crystal, as evidenced by in-situ XRD results, greatly inhibited the migration of Fe 3+ during cycling, maintaining the stable structure and resulting in outstanding cycling stability under drastic conditions. These findings establish a universal crystal engineering paradigm for developing high-performance polyanionic cathodes in energy storage systems.

A structural design strategy was employed to develop NaGd2Ga2InGe2O12:Sm3+ (NGGIG:Sm3+) garnet phosphors, optimizing the local coordination environment to enhance luminescence performance. By tailoring site occupation, Sm3+ ions were incorporated into an asymmetric crystal field, where a statistical probability model confirmed that ∼97% of Sm3+ ions reside in distorted coordination environments, promoting electric dipole(ED) transitions. The phosphors exhibit a high red-to-orange (R/O) intensity ratio of 2.97, contributing to enhanced red emission. CIE chromaticity coordinates of (0.61, 0.39) indicate a significant shift toward the red region, and the phosphors retain over 70% of their luminescence intensity at 400 K, demonstrating good thermal stability. These characteristics make NGGIG:Sm3+ a promising candidate for high-performance red phosphors in solid-state lighting applications, highlighting the effectiveness of site engineering in garnet structures for optimizing luminescence efficiency and stability.

Mn 4+ -activated fluoride red-emitting narrow-band phosphors have been successfully used in wide color-gamut white LEDs for liquid crystal display (LCD) backlights. However, highly concentrated and toxic HF is usually used in their synthesis, causing environment and safety issues. In this work, we proposed a HF-free green method, that is, using NH 4 F/HCl instead of HF, to synthesize a series of A 2 X F 6 :Mn 4+ ( A = K, Na, Rb, Cs; X = Si, Ge, Ti) phosphors. The microstructure, photoluminescence (PL) properties, thermal quenching, and applications of the synthesized phosphors were investigated. Using the proposed approach, the phosphors generally showed a pure phase, a particle size ranging from 5 to 45 μm, and some characteristic sharp emission lines of Mn 4+ in the red spectral range. The internal quantum efficiency was varied in a broad range of 69%-94% under the 460 nm excitation, depending on the composition of the fluoride host. Among these compositions, K 2 X F 6 :Mn 4+ ( X = Ge and Ti) phosphors even had a similar external quantum efficiency (>60%) with commercial ones. By combining K 2 GeF 6 :Mn 4+ (narrow-band red) and β -sialon:Eu 2+ (narrow-band green) with a blue LED, a white light-emitting diode (wLED) backlight with a color gamut of 87.7% National Television System Committee Standard, color temperature of 8423 K, and a luminous efficacy of 110.8 lm/W was demonstrated. These results indicate that the synthetic method proposed in this work is universal for preparing highly efficient fluoride phosphors used in wLEDs.
