The dynamic evolution and structure-performance relationships of single-atom catalysts (SACs) under operating conditions are one of the most concerned hotspots at present. Here, we employed Anderson-type polyoxometalates as a precursor to prepare the SAC Rh-MoS 2 , which shows excellent hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) performance with a mass activity of 4.26 A mg −1 at 100 mV. Such a result is much better than that of 20% Pt/C. Extensive experimental characterization combined with density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest that the active site undergoes a dynamic evolution from Rh-S to Rh-S/O, while at the same time, the support is transformed from 1T MoS 2 to 1T-2H MoS 2 . It is this dynamic evolution of the catalyst structure that causes a series of changes in the activity, and eventually, a balance between catalytic activity and stability is achieved. This work offers a good research demonstration of the dynamic evolution of SACs under operating conditions and provides a new perspective on the design of SACs.

In this study, a novel Co-modified MoS 2 loaded spherical biochar (Co-MoS 2 @BC) derived from renewable biomass was synthesized as an efficient anodic HMFOR electrocatalyst. In the HMFOR process, the Co-MoS 2 @BC required a potential of only 1.426 V for the current density of 100 mA/cm 2 , significantly outperforming that of the MoS 2 loaded on spherical biochar (MoS 2 @BC) and the Co nanoparticles loaded on spherical biochar (Co@BC). Furthermore, the HMF conversion ratio reached 99.6 %, FDCA selectivity was 99.7 %, and Faradaic efficiency was 99.3 %. The Mechanistic studies reveal that the modified-Co on the MoS 2 modulated the electronic structure of Co-MoS 2 @BC, which not only enhanced the interaction between Co-MoS 2 @BC and the electrolyte, thereby facilitating the evolution of the catalysts toward highly active species, but also improved the adsorption of HMF and the H + transfer e - coupling step during the HMFOR process.

Injury caused by excess reactive oxygen species (ROS) may lead to susceptibility to bacterial infection and sustained inflammatory response, which are the major factors impeding diabetic wound healing. By utilizing optimal anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial biomaterials for multifunctional wound dressings is critical in clinical applications. In this study, a novel electrospun PLGA/MoS2@Pd nanofiber membrane was synthesized by encapsulating antioxidant and near-infrared (NIR) responsive MOS2@Pd nanozymes in PLGA nanofibers to form a multifunctional dressing for diabetic wound repair. With excellent biocompatibility and hemostatic ability, this novel PLGA/MoS2@Pd nanofiber membrane can effectively reduce oxidative stress damage and intracellular inflammatory factors expression in fibroblasts by scavenging ROS. Additionally, the PLGA/MoS2@Pd nanofiber membrane exhibited favourable NIR-mediated photothermal antibacterial activity in vitro, with inhibition rates of 97.14% and 97.07% against Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli), respectively. In a diabetic rat wound infection model, NIR-assisted PLGA/MoS2@Pd nanofiber membrane effectively inhibited bacterial growth in the wound, reduced infection-induced inflammatory response, and promoted tissue epithelialization and collagen deposition, resulting in a wound healing rate of up to 98.5% on day 14. This study highlighted the construction of a multifunctional nanofiber membrane platform and demonstrated its promising potential as a clinical dressing for diabetic wounds.

Tetracycline is an organic compound that poses a significant threat to both the ecological environment and human health during its long-term production and use. Advanced oxidation processes based on sulfate radicals (SR-AOP) have been recognized as effective techniques for treating antibiotic contamination. However, The urgent demand for a green, efficient, and recyclable catalyst to effectively facilitate persulfate treatment of tetracycline pollution is evident. Magnetic Fe 3 O 4 -C@MoS 2 composite were synthesized using hydrothermal and pyrolysis methods. Degradation experiments, free radical quenching experiments, EPR analysis were carried out to investigate the degradation performance and mechanisms of Fe 3 O 4 -C@MoS 2 composite. Results showed that the degradation efficiency of 100 mL of 20 mg/L tetracycline solution reached up to 97% within 40 mins with the dosage of 20 mg Fe 3 O 4 -C@MoS 2 and 30.7 mg peroxmonosulfate. Furthermore, this degradation system exhibited excellent efficiency even over a wide pH range of 3–9. The transformation of Mo (IV) and S 2- /S n 2- species valence states facilitated the conversion between Fe(III)/Fe(II). Both free radical ( S O 4 ⋅ − , ⋅ O H and O 2 ⋅ − ) as well as non-free radical species ( O 2 1 ) were found to accelerate the catalytic reaction during the tetracycline degradation. The possible pathways of tetracycline degradation were proposed, and the toxicity of the intermediate products were proved to be lower than that of tetracycline. Finally, magnetic Fe 3 O 4 -C@MoS 2 composites possessed good reusability and stability after 4 cycles of degradation.

Spherical nano-MoS 2 (S-MoS 2 ) has excellent lubricating properties and potential application value in engine oil additives. Engine soot can enter the engine oil, so the tribological interaction between S-MoS 2 and diesel combustion soot (DCS) should be investigated. In this study, DCS was used to simulate engine soot. The interaction was investigated in dioctyl sebacate (DOS), and the interaction mechanism was full characterized. Results showed that S-MoS 2 and DCS had obvious antagonism effects on lubrication. The 0.5% S-MoS 2 exhibited good lubricating properties in DOS, which could reduce friction by ∼22% and wear by ∼54%. However, after 0.5% S-MoS 2 was added to the 0.5% DCS contaminated DOS, the lubrication performance was not improved and was even worse than that without S-MoS 2 . When S-MoS 2 was added for DOS lubrication, a tribofilm containing MoS 2 formed on the friction surface, but simultaneously adding 0.5% DCS resulted in the disappearance of the MoS 2 tribofilm. Moreover, under the action of friction heat, DCS and S-MoS 2 could form hard Mo x C y , thereby increasing abrasive wear. Finally, a preliminary deantagonism method was provided. After 2.0% zinc isooctyl dithiophosphate was added to the above antagonistic system, the friction coefficient did not show visible changes, but the wear recovered to a level close to that when only S-MoS 2 was added. The antiantagonism method is not very satisfactory and some more efficient methods need to be further explored.

The construction of hierarchical structures has been demonstrated to be an effective method for achieving high-performance microwave absorption. In this study, a flower-like MoS2 nanosheet-coated tubular carbon composite with an average diameter of approximately 560 nm was synthesized via a straightforward ion-exchange and pyrolysis strategy. The growth of MoS2 nanosheets, the presence of heterojunction surfaces, and the construction of the hollow structure collectively enhance the dielectric loss of the material, thereby optimizing the microwave absorption properties of the material. The C@MoS2 nanocomposite demonstrates a minimum reflection loss of −66.8 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth of 4.8 GHz when the thickness is only 1.6 mm. This work presents a synergistic strategy for the design of layered hollow structures.

Artificial intelligence algorithms including two artificial neural network and two machine learning algorithms were employed to predict the four-ball tribology behavior of MoS2-Al2O3 hybrid nanofluid. MoS2-Al2O3 composite nanoparticles were synthesized using solvothermal method and then dispersed in water-based fluids. 27 groups of tribology tests were conducted according to Box-Behnken experimental design were set as the training groups. The input variables (velocity of friction pairs, test force, test temperature, nanoparticle concentration) and output parameters (friction coefficient, wear scar diameter, wear surface roughness) were selected as the main variables. It was found that the random forest (RF) had better predict accuracy and stability for the four-ball tribology behavior of MoS2-Al2O3 nanofluid than multilayer perceptron (MLP), back propagation (BP) and k-nearest neighbors (KNN) algorithms. Besides, Pearson correlation analysis was carried out to reveal the relationship between input and output as well as different output variables. Through in-depth characterization of worn surface, a tribofilm in the thickness of 15 ∼ 20 nm composed of amorphous phases, ultra-fine nanoparticles and iron compounds was found. Finally, the lubrication mechanism of MoS2-Al2O3 nanofluid were discussed based on analyzing the tribology behavior data and tribofilm structure. Through the above findings, we hope to promote the application and development of artificial intelligence techniques in lubricants design and performance evaluation in the future.

MoS 2 –Sb 2 O 3 coating is commonly used as solid lubricant for titanium alloys , but the wear-resistance performance is still limited. Core-shell annealed nanodiamond (AND) particle is used as reinforcement for MoS 2 –Sb 2 O 3 coating on Ti6Al4V substrate treated by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) and laser surface texturing (LST). The incorporation of AND particles into the MoS 2 –Sb 2 O 3 coating results in a 39 % decrease in friction and significantly reduces wear on the composite coating . Structural transformation of AND particles to amorphous carbon and graphitic structure promotes the densification of top-layer coating, enhancing lubrication and wear-resistance. Change of contact stress by PEO-LST promotes the formation of dense tribofilm and re-orientation of MoS 2 . This study has implications for the development of solid lubrication coatings for aerospace applications through functional nanomaterials and targeted designed surfaces.

In this study, layered double hydroxide (LDH) and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) were used as additives to prepare lubricants. The morphology and particle distribution of the LDH and MoS2were characterized using a scanning electron microscope and a laser particle size analyzer, respectively. Thermogravimetric analysis was used to compare the performance of the lubricants at high temperature. The extreme pressure and wear resistance performance of the lubricants were tested using a four-ball machine and a fretting-wear machine. Then, the lubricants were applied in a bolt fastener. The loosening torque and surface wear condition at high temperature were compared. By adding LDH and MoS2to the lubricants, the extreme pressure and wear resistance performance and anti-seize performance at high temperature were improved significantly. The LDH showed better anti-seize performance than the MoS2because of its strong and stable structure at high temperature. The MoS2showed better anti-wear performance under a high load because of its soft layered structure. The MoS2with a larger particle size showed better extreme pressure performance under a high load. The LDH and MoS2played a synergistic effect under the conditions of high temperature and high load.

The development of electrodes with low cost, high stability and efficient catalytic performance is crucial for the practical application of hydrogen production by electrolyzing water. Here, we reported the preparation of a novel MoS 2 /WC ceramic electrode with a straight-through hole structure by phase-inversion tape-casting combined with hydrothermal method. The obtained MoS 2 /WC electrode achieved impressive HER performance under acidic conditions, specifically with an overpotential of only 215 mV at a current density of 500 mA cm⁻ 2 , demonstrating excellent high current density catalytic activity. Furthermore, the ceramic electrode demonstrated excellent long-term stability, operating reliably for 600 h across a current density range of 10–500 mA cm⁻ 2 . The outstanding catalytic activity and stability at high current densities are primarily attributed to the through-hole structure, which enhances mass transfer of the electrolyte and gas bubbles, along with the increased number of active sites provided by MoS 2 nanoflakes. Therefore, the prepared ceramic electrode has great potential for the development of industrial hydrogen production electrodes.

Molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) has emerged as a promising material for room-temperature gas sensing applications. However, its practical use is constrained by stability issues. To address this, the in-situ growth of MoS 2 nanoflakes on MXenes (Ti 3 C 2 ) nanobelts is reported for efficient ammonia (NH 3 ) gas sensing applications under ambient conditions. The MoS 2 nanoflakes are grown successfully on Ti 3 C 2 nanobelts via a facile one-step hydrothermal method and analyzed by state-of-the-art investigations. The design of the gas sensor is to anchor MoS 2 /Ti 3 C 2 onto a ceramic tube with a pair of gold electrodes. The results demonstrate that the sensor fabricated exhibits rapid, selective and stable response for NH 3 at room temperature. Specifically, the sensor shows a significant gas response (∼10 %) to 100 ppm NH 3 , outperforming the pure MoS 2 based sensor (∼7 %). More importantly, the sensor maintains performance at 1 ppm NH 3 , with a gas response of 2.5 %, a response time of 10 seconds, and a recovery time of 7 seconds. These enhancements are attributed to the synergistic effects between MoS 2 and Ti 3 C 2 , which not only improve stability but also enhance gas sensing capabilities. This study elucidates the potential of MoS 2 /Ti 3 C 2 composites for achieving reliable and efficient NH 3 sensing at room temperature, paving the way for advanced gas sensing technology.

Ferroelectric materials commonly serve as gate insulators in typical field-effect transistors, where their polarization reversal enables effective modulation of the conductivity state of the channel material, thereby realizing non-volatile memory. Currently, novel 2D ferroelectrics unlock new prospects in next-generation electronics and neuromorphic computation. However, the advancement of these materials is impeded by limited selectivity and narrow memory windows. Here, new concepts of 2D ferroelectric perovskite/MoS 2 channel heterostructures field-effect transistors are presented, in which 2D ferroelectric perovskite features customizable band structure, few-layered ferroelectricity, and submillimeter-size monolayer wafers. Further studies reveal that these devices exhibit unique charge polarity modulation (from n - to p -type channel) and remarkable nonvolatile memory behavior, especially record-wide hysteresis windows up to 177 V, which enables efficient imitation of biological synapses and achieves high recognition accuracy for electrocardiogram patterns. This result provides a device paradigm for future nonvolatile memory and artificial synaptic applications.
