Hydrogel electrolytes are attracting growing interest in the various fields, and tremendous efforts have been widely made for enhancing the hydrogel electrolyte of flexible devices. However, conventional hydrogel electrolytes generally contain non-degradable and non-renewable polymer matrix materials, inevitably causing waste of resources and environmental pollution, which fundamentally restricts the utilization of hydrogel electrolyte in the aspect of energy storage device during daily use. In this work, a novel flexible hydrogel electrolyte, that can be reducible, recyclable, and reusable (3R), is fabricated through physical and chemistry double crosslinking among carboxylated chitosan, N -methylol acrylamide, N, N′ -methylene bisacrylamide, and potassium persulfate, followed by intense uptake of Li 2 SO 4 electrolyte. The hydrogel electrolyte membrane displays high ionic conductivity of 3.52 × 10 −2 S cm −1 , and exhibits 348.92% electrolyte uptake., The flexible quasi-solid supercapacitor assembled with the hydrogel electrolyte shows remarkable electrochemical performance like high capacitance retention of 83% and outstanding energy density of 8.74 Wh kg −1 . Interestingly, the renewable performance of hydrogel electrolyte membrane is observed when the hydrogel electrolyte membrane suffered from heating to cooling cycle, which allows to easily realize multiple regeneration of electrolyte membrane based on the reversible sol-gel transition. This work provides a promising route to design a hydrogel electrolyte membrane with infinite regeneration times for flexible energy storage devices in the future.

Wang-Bi capsule (WB) is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)-based herbal formula, and it has been used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in China for many years. Additionally, WB is also used as a supplement to the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) in clinical practice. Our research aimed to reveal the therapeutic effects and underling mechanism of WB on RA and OA through computational system pharmacology analysis and experimental study. Based on network pharmacology analysis, a total of 173 bioactive compounds interacted with 417 common gene targets related to WB, RA, and OA, which mainly involved the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. In addition, the serine–threonine protein kinase 1 (AKT1) might be a core gene protein for the action of WB, which was further emphasized by molecular docking. Moreover, the anti-inflammatory activity of WB in vitro was confirmed by reducing NO production in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced RAW264.7 cells. The anti-RA and OA effects of WB in vivo were confirmed by ameliorating the disease symptoms of collagen II-induced RA (CIA) and monosodium iodoacetate-induced OA (MIA) in rats, respectively. Furthermore, the role of the PI3K-Akt pathway in the action of WB was preliminarily verified by western blot analysis. In conclusion, our study elucidated that WB is a potentially effective strategy for the treatment of RA and OA, which might be achieved by regulating the PI3K-Akt pathway. It provides us with systematic insights into the effects and mechanism of WB on RA and OA.

Bismuth-based photocatalysts are a class of excellent visible-light photocatalysts; however, their redox activity is relatively poor and the efficiency of photogenerated carrier separation is low, limiting their development and application in the field of photocatalysis . To address these issues, a series of polyoxometalate PW 12 O 40 3– -doped Bi 2 O 3– x /Bi Schottky photocatalysts PW 12 @Bi 2 O 3– x /Bi- n (PBOB- n , where n is the amount of NaBH 4 , i.e., 6, 12, 18, 24, and 48 mg) were prepared by a simple electrospinning/calcination/in-situ NaBH 4 reduction method. In this composite photocatalyst, the doping of PW 12 could effectively adjust the electronic structure of Bi 2 O 3– x and improve its redox properties. As a shallow electron trap, PW 12 promoted the separation of the photogenerated carriers. Furthermore, desirable Schottky junction between the metal Bi nanoparticles and PW 12 @Bi 2 O 3– x further accelerated the separation of the photogenerated carriers. The synergistic effect of the aforementioned factors endowed PBOB- n with excellent photocatalytic activity. Among the samples, PBOB-18 exhibited superior photocatalytic activity. Under visible-light irradiation, 93.7% (20 mg catalyst) of 20 ppm tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA, 20 mL) was degraded in 60 min. Its activity was 4.4 times higher than that of Bi 2 O 3 . PBOB-18 also exhibited an ultrahigh photocatalytic performance for the removal of NO. Its removal rate (600 ppb) reached 83.3% in 30 min, making it one of the most active Bi-based photocatalysts. Furthermore, the photocatalytic mechanisms of PBOB-18 for TBBPA and NO have been proposed. This work provides a new direction and reference for the design of low-cost, efficient, stable, and versatile photocatalysts.

Electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) at the ambient conditions is attractive for ammonia (NH 3 ) synthesis due to its energy-efficient and eco-friendly features. However, the extremely strong N≡N triple-bonds in nitrogen molecules and the competitive hydrogen evolution reaction lead to the unsatisfactory NH 3 yield and the Faradaic efficiency (FE) of eNRR, making the development of high-performance catalysts with adequate active sites and high selectivity essential for further development of eNRR. Addressing this, we herein report a Bi and K dual-doped titanium oxide (BTO@KTO) material, which is prepared by a cation exchange reaction between K 2 Ti 4 O 9 and molten BiCl 3 , for high-performance eNRR catalysts. Benefiting from the controllable molten-salt cation exchange process, a highly active surface containing Bi/K sites and rich oxygen vacancies has been obtained on titanium oxide. Under the synergy of these two merits, an efficient eNRR catalysis, with the NH 3 yield rate of 32.02 μg h −1 mg cat. −1 and the FE of 12.71%, has been achieved, much superior to that of pristine K 2 Ti 4 O 9 . This work thus offers a high-performance electrocatalyst for eNRR, and more importantly, a versatile cation-exchange strategy for efficiently manipulating materials' functionalities.

A new-type flame retardant DEZ of bi-DOPO compound containing bi-hydroxy and two amino groups, was synthesized from terephthalonitrile, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, and 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide, and used with curing agent 4,4′-diamino-diphenylmethane to prepare flame retard epoxy resin (EP) composites. 1 H and 31 P nuclear magnetic resonance spectra and Fourier transform infrared spectra have determined the chemical structure of DEZ. The properties of cured EP composites were explicitly evaluated by differential scanning calorimeter, thermogravimetric analysis, the limiting oxygen index (LOI), vertical burning (UL-94) test, cone calorimetry test, and flexural test. The 1 wt% addition of DEZ could improve the EP composites by almost 14.4% of flexural strength and 29.6% of flexural modulus, respectively. The LOI of EP composites with 5 wt% of DEZ was 29.7% and EP composites reached a V-0 rating in the UL-94 test, as well as total heat release was decreased by 11.2%. All EP modified by DEZ exhibited a blow-out effect in the combustion process, which was due to the release of pyrolysis gases and incombustible gases containing phosphorus radicals and nitrogen compounds.

Electromagnetic (EM) and infrared (IR) stealth play an important role in the development of military technology and the defense industry. This study focused on developing a new type of multifunctional composite film based on polyimide (PI)/graphene/Fe3O4hybrid aerogel and polyethylene glycol (PEG) as a phase change material (PCM) for EM and IR bi-stealth applications. The composite films were successfully fabricated by constructing a series of PI-based hybrid aerogels containing different contents of graphene nanosheets and Fe3O4nanoparticles through prepolymerizaton, film casting, freeze-drying, and thermal imidization, followed by loading molten PEG through vacuum impregnation. The construction of PI/graphene/Fe3O4hybrid aerogel films provides a robust, flexible, and microwave-absorption-functionalized support material for PEG. The resultant multifunctional composite films not only exhibit high microwave absorption effectiveness across a broad frequency range, but also show a good ability to implement thermal management and temperature regulation under a high latent-heat capacity of over 158 J/g. Most of all, the multifunctional composite films present a wideband absorption capability at 7.0–16.5 GHz and a minimum reflection loss of −38.5 dB. This results in excellent EM and IR bi-stealth performance through the effective wideband microwave absorption of graphene/Fe3O4component and the thermal buffer of PEG. This study offers a new strategy for the design and development of high-performance and lightweight EM–IR bi-stealth materials to meet the requirement of stealth and camouflage applications in military equipment and defense engineering. Keywords:electromagnetic and infrared bi-stealth;phase change material;polyimide-based aerogels;graphene/Fe3O4hybrid;thermal regulation;microwave absorption

The pivotal role of oxygen electrocatalysis in the realm of energy conversion and storage is unmistakably significant. In an endeavor to diminish the reliance on precious metals, the development of innovative catalysts exhibiting exceptional bifunctional durability and heightened activity for both the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) has garnered considerable scholarly interest. Employing a straightforward two-step methodology, we have successfully synthesized uniformly distributed MnCo2O4and CoMn2O4nanoparticles of diminutive size, meticulously anchored onto carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Owing to the synergistic covalent interplay between the spinel oxide nanoparticles and CNTs, these nanocomposites demonstrate ORR activity on par with, and notably superior OER activity compared to, commercially available Pt/C catalysts. The onset potential of MnCo2O4-CNTs stands at 1.03 V vs. RHE, maintaining 95.76% of its initial current density following a 10,000-s chronoamperometry test. Furthermore, MnCo2O4-CNTs outperform CoMn2O4-CNTs in OER catalysis. The outstanding performance of MnCo2O4-CNTs is attributed to the higher content of Co3+ions, which are active for the oxygen electrocatalysis. Keywords:oxygen reduction reaction;oxygen evolution reaction;carbon nanotube;transition metal oxide;nanocomposites

To achieve efficient degradation of organic pollutants, two critical objectives are enhancing photogenerated carrier separation and expanding the spectral response range. In this study, we synthesized atom-sharing Bi/Bi 4 O 5 Br 2 :Yb 3+ ,Tm 3+ (Bi/BYT) heterojunctions with surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effects and upconversion (UC) by employing self-sacrificial Bi 4 O 5 Br 2 :Yb 3+ ,Tm 3+ (BYT) fractions as a source of metallic Bi. Results revealed that the optimal Bi/BYT-2 catalyst exhibited the highest BPA degradation efficiency within 120 min, representing a significant 1.3-fold improvement over BYT alone. This outstanding catalytic performance can be attributed to the synergistic interplay between UC fluorescence, the unique SPR effect of Bi metal, and the atom-sharing heterojunction. These factors effectively broaden the spectral absorption range and significantly enhance the separation and utilization efficiency of photoinduced carriers. This study lays the groundwork for the development and design of novel atomic-level contact heterojunctions, offering insights into enhancing photocatalytic efficiency through plasmon resonance and UC fluorescence on non-precious metal surfaces.

Multi-modal combination therapy for tumor is expected to have superior therapeutic effect compared with monotherapy. In this study, a super-small bismuth/copper-gallic acid coordination polymer nanoparticle (BCN) protected by polyvinylpyrrolidone is designed, which is co-encapsulated with glucose oxidase (GOX) by phospholipid to obtain nanoprobe BCGN@L. It shows that BCN has an average size of 1.8 ± 0.7 nm, and photothermal conversion of BCGN@L is 31.35% for photothermal imaging and photothermal therapy (PTT). During the treatment process of 4T1 tumor-bearing nude mice, GOX catalyzes glucose in the tumor to generate gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ), which reacts with copper ions (Cu 2+ ) to produce toxic hydroxyl radicals (•OH) for chemodynamic therapy (CDT) and new fresh oxygen (O 2 ) to supply to GOX for further catalysis, preventing tumor hypoxia. These reactions increase glucose depletion for starvation therapy , decrease heat shock protein expression, and enhance tumor sensitivity to low-temperature PTT. The in vitro and in vivo results demonstrate that the combination of CDT with other treatments produces excellent tumor growth inhibition. Blood biochemistry and histology analysis suggests that the nanoprobe has negligible toxicity. All the positive results reveal that the nanoprobe can be a promising approach for incorporation into multi-modal anticancer therapy.

Sheet aluminum powder was used as the substrate and aniline as the polymer monomer, to design novel Al/PANI composites via in-situ polymerization, which exhibited high electromagnetic wave absorption properties and low infrared emissivity. These unique bifunctional composite were systematically characterized by X-ray powder diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy , scanning electron microscope, IR-2 dual-band emission rate measuring instrument and vector network analyzer. The calculated results showed that the maximum reflection loss value of Al/PANI composite reached −46.09 dB at 14.56 GHz with a film thickness of only 1.0 mm. Meanwhile, the infrared emission rate of the composite was 0.55. The excellent electromagnetic absorption performance may be ascribed to its superior conductivity and unique structure. The merits of as-synthesized composites with high-performance microwave absorbing properties and low infrared emissivity indicate the potential use of Al/PANI composites in the applicable stealth fields.

Bulk materials with a microporous structure are adverse to light adsorption, photoelectron and reactant transport in a photocatalytic reaction. Mesoporous photocatalysts have shown many marked advantages in photocatalytic fields. Herein, uniform mesoporous Bi@Bi 2 O 3 nanospheres were fabricated by HCl–ethanol chemical etching at low temperature (60 °C). The obtained mesoporous photocatalysis increased the NO removal efficiency (16%) and inhibited toxic NO 2 generation (3%) under visible light irradiation. Further oxidation of Bi and calcination at high temperatures were avoided during template removal. Moreover, the as-prepared sample possessed a remarkably narrower pore size distribution (3.2–3.9 nm) and stronger light and NO adsorption ability than the bulk microporous Bi@Bi 2 O 3 . Work function and the electron spin resonance test results also indicated that the position of the entire energy bands on Bi 2 O 3 was lowered. The amount of reactive oxygen species generated over the uniform mesoporous structure was higher than that over bulk Bi@Bi 2 O 3 . However, photoelectrochemical measurements indicated that the separation efficiencies of the photo-generated carriers were not improved over the uniform mesoporous Bi@Bi 2 O 3 . Comprehensive studies have shown that the oxidation ability rather than the enhanced separation efficiency of charge carriers accounted for the enhanced photocatalytic activity. This work elucidates the roles of a uniform mesoporous structure in NO x photocatalytic oxidation and provides an efficient strategy for structural engineering in preparing highly reactive and practical photocatalysts.

A multilayer Bi-BTC/reduced graphene oxide (Bi-BTC/rGO) (BTC, 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid) film electrode was adopted to construct a highly sensitive Pb 2+ electrochemical sensor. The multilayer Bi-BTC/rGO films were prepared via alternate cast of Bi-BTC and graphene oxide (GO) on a glassy carbon electrode, followed by electro-reduction of the GO components. Bi-BTC has porous broom-like structure and its organic ligand has abundant functional groups, which are favorable for Pb 2+ adsorption and preconcentration. The introduction of rGO layer improves the conductivity of the MOFs material. Moreover, the multilayer composite structure greatly increased the exposure of active sites and the surface area of reactive contact, finally realizing the highly sensitive detection of Pb 2+ . Pb 2+ was determined by differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry and the response current was recorded at − 0.62 V. The [Bi-BTC/rGO] 2 electrode provides a wide linear response ranging from 0.062 to 20.72 μg/L and a low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.021 μg/L (S/N = 3) for Pb 2+ , which is lower than the guideline value proposed by the World Health Organization. The method has been applied to determine Pb 2+ in industrial wastewater with recoveries of 99.2–104% and RSDs of 3.4–4.0% ( n = 3).
