Efficient pseudocapacitive energy storage devices have attracted considerable attention due to the growing demand of electrical power supply. Still, the design and fabrication of electrode materials with high power and energy densities is challengeable. Herein, an in-situ reduction and competitive cross-linking strategy is presented to construct a novel Sn–Mo bimetallic oxide nanoparticle-grown on P-doped hierarchical porous carbon (SnMo–O@P-HPC). The attractive electrochemical performance of SnMo–O@P-HPC composite with an ultrahigh specific capacitance of 2121.3 F g −1 and excellent cycle stability of 92.5% over 5000 cycles is resulted from unique active component, abundant active sites, and well-organized 3D porous structure. An asymmetric supercapacitor composed of activated carbon and SnMo–O@P-HPC displays an amazing specific energy density of 114.9 W h kg −1 at 515.5 and 98.8 W h kg −1 even at 20,900 W kg −1 . Importantly, it also displays a wonderful stability with excellent capacitance retention of 92.5% after 5000 cycles. The work will provide an effective and novel method to obtain the promising electrode materials for supercapacitors .

The highly efficient catalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) are of great significance for electrochemical water splitting. Direct transforming nickel foam (NF) into nickel-based catalysts attracts extensive attention because of its excellent stability and high conductivity. However, the catalytic performances of this kind of catalyst are still far from expected. Herein, we report a series of Ni oxides co-modulated by Mo, V and M ( M =Mn, Fe, Co, Cu) as efficient catalysts for water splitting, which are directly prepared through a simple NF-transformation method. Especially, a MoVNi catalyst displays a low Tafel slope of 68 mV/dec and a small overpotential of 76 mV at 10 mA/cm 2 for HER in 1.0 M KOH solution. The OER performances of MoVNi can be greatly enhanced by M introduction. For example, Fe-MoVNi only requires 374 mV to achieve 100 mA/cm 2 and shows no declination in a-20 h stability test at 100 mA/cm 2 in 1.0 M KOH media. Such performances outperform the recently reported best-performing Ni oxides catalysts in an alkaline environment. The excellent catalytic performances suggest great promise in practical applications.

In this work, a Co/Mo metal–organic framework (MOF)-modified filter paper (Co–Mo-MOF@FP) was designated as the separator of sodium metal batteries (SMBs). The Co–Mo-MOF, formulated as [Co(4,4′-bpy)0.5MoO4] (4,4′-bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine), features a three-dimensional (3D) porous architecture with two-dimensional (2D) inorganic bimetallic Co–O–Mo layers bridged by the 4,4’-bpy pillars, leading to a large interlayer spacing of 13.1 Å with a confined pore window of ca. 3.3 Å × 8.1 Å, which provides channels only for the Na+ transport. Therefore, the electrolyte-impregnated Co–Mo-MOF@FP behaves like a single-ion conductor with an ion transference number of 0.76 and a diffusion barrier of 0.27 eV. Meanwhile, the Mo centers with multiple valence states and the rich Co–O–Mo linkages can tolerate electron attack and display excellent electrochemical durability. As a result, the Na |Co–Mo-MOF@FP| Na symmetric cell exhibits a considerable cycling life for over 500 h at 0.5 mA cm–2, and the Na |Co–Mo-MOF@FP| Na3V2(PO4)3 full cells present an initial capacity of ∼100 mAh g–1 with a capacity retention of 81.8% over 1000 cycles at 0.1 A g–1, which are much superior to those with the blank filter paper (FP) separator. This work proposes a strategy of “two-in-one”, in which the confined channel of the Co–Mo-MOF coating on a cheap FP separator and the resultant ion-sieving effect can accelerate uniform Na plating, suppress Na dendritic growth, induce the formation of a stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), and promote the desolvation of Na+, thus boosting diffusion kinetics.

Objective Lindqvist-type polyoxometalates (POMs) exhibit potential antitumor activities. This study aimed to examine the effects of Lindqvist-type POMs against breast cancer and the underlying mechanism. Methods Using different cancer cell lines, the present study evaluated the antitumor activities of POM analogues that were modified at the body skeleton based on molybdenum-vanadium-centered negative oxygen ion polycondensations with different side strains. Cell colony formation assay, autophagy detection, mitochondrial observation, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, and animal model were used to evaluate the antitumor activities of POMs against breast cancer cells and the related mechanism. Results MO-4, a Lindqvist-type POM linking a proline at its side strain, was selected for subsequent experiments due to its low half maximal inhibitory concentration in the inhibition of proliferation of breast cancer cells. It was found that MO-4 induced the apoptosis of multiple types of breast cancer cells. Mechanistically, MO-4 activated intracellular mitophagy by elevating mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels and resulting in apoptosis. In vivo , breast tumor growth and distant metastasis were significantly reduced following MO-4 treatment. Conclusion Collectively, the results of the present study demonstrated that the novel Lindqvist-type POM MO-4 may exhibit potential in the treatment of breast cancer.

Novel Fenton-like catalyst HKUST-1(Cu)/MoS2-3-C with a non-equilibrium-state surface was constructed for selective degradation of phenolic contaminants. Electron-polarized distribution facilitated the formation of σ-Cu-ligand between electron-poor Cu centre and phenolic compounds, which not only enhanced radicals generation but also accelerated the Cu(I)/Cu(II) redox. Meanwhile, ≡Mo–OOSO3−complexes formed by the electron-rich Mo centre and peroxymonosulfate (PMS), could directly oxidize phenolic contaminants with the generation of SO4•−. The radical quenching experiments and EPR tests indicated that both SO4•−and•OH played a dominant role in the reaction. Additionally, O2could be reduced to O2•−by OVs and subsequently converted into1O2over the Mo centre. DFT calculation, FT-IR, and in situ Raman spectra analysis results demonstrated that phenolic compounds and PMS were respectively adsorbed by electron-poor Cu centre and electron-rich Mo centre, favouring the electrons transfer from phenolic contaminants to Mo centre for PMS activation. With synergistic effects of σ-Cu-ligand and ≡Mo–OOSO3−complexes, HKUST-1(Cu)/MoS2-3-C achieved a high degradation rate of phenolic contaminants and utilization efficiency of PMS.Keywords:fenton-like catalyst;non-equilibrium-state surface;σ-Cu-ligand;≡Mo–OOSO3−complex;phenolic contaminants degradation

Calcination temperature affects the formation of metal species. By calcining nitrogen-doped Fe/Mo bimetallic MOF at a higher temperature (700 °C), a core-shell structure MOF-derived carbon material (FeMo@NPC-700) containing transition metal nitride (TMN) was successfully prepared and used as a cathode for the degradation of tetracycline (TC) in the electro-Fenton system. Due to the high catalytic activity of TMN and the synergistic catalytic effect of Mo, the FeMo@NPC-700 cathode achieved 98.9% removal of TC within 30 min and 51% removal of total organic carbon (TOC) within 60 min. It was verified that Fe 3 N played an important role in the degradation of TC, contributing 68% to the degradation. In addition, quantitative analysis of the reactive oxygen species (ROSs) in the system showed that ·OH was the main ROS dominating the degradation of tetracycline. Finally, four possible pathways of TC degradation were proposed based on HPLC-MS analysis, and the toxicity of the intermediates was analyzed by ecological active-structure relationship. This study provides a reference for the preparation of MOF-derived carbon materials containing TMN.

The Mo-nonstoichiometry, oxygen vacancy, and S incorporation into Bi-Mo bimetallic oxide enhance the activity by creating defects that improve charge carrier separation efficiency and narrow bandgap energy. Oxygen vacancies synergistically attired nonstoichiometric and Mo-deficient and O-deficient Bi 2 Mo 3-x (S,O) 12-y oxysulfide (Mo-/O-deficient Bi 2 Mo 3 (S,O) 12 ) is found by a one-pot facile method to enhance the photocatalytic H 2 evolution and pollutant reduction via in-situ generated protons. The best Mo-/O-deficient Bi 2 Mo 3 (S,O) 12 catalyst with x = 0.75 and oxygen vacancy content of 27.6 % produced 480.87 µmol/h H 2 with 25 mg catalyst and achieved AQE of 14.26 % at λ = 420 nm, whereas reduced 88.9 % 4-NP and 91.6 % RhB by in-situ generated protons. Bi-non-stoichiometry leads to Mo 4+ and oxygen vacancy formation and creates active reaction sites of oxygen vacancy and active surface oxygen. These enhancements benefit photogenerated carrier separation efficiency and fast electron transfer and achieve Mo-/O-deficient Bi 2 Mo 3 (S,O) 12 with superb PHER. Therefore, non-stoichiometry and sulfur doping into Bi 2 Mo 3 O 12 bimetallic oxide is a promising approach for designing novel and synergistically defect-attired oxysulfide photocatalysts.

Herein, we first propose a facile strategy to synthesize Co9S8 and MoS2 nanocrystals embedded in porous carbon nanoflake arrays supported on carbon nanofibers (Co9S8-MoS2/N-CNAs@CNFs) by the pyrolysis of Mo-doped Zn, Co zeolitic imidazolate framework grown on carbon nanofibers and subsequent sulfuration. The electrocatalyst shows high and stable electrocatalytic performance, with a half-wave potential of 0.82 V for oxygen reduction reaction and an overpotential at 10 mA cm–2 for oxygen evolution reaction (0.34 V) and hydrogen evolution reaction (0.163 V), which outperform the metal–organic framework-derived transition metal sulfide catalysts reported so far. Furthermore, the Co9S8-MoS2@N-CNAs@CNFs are employed as an air cathode in a liquid-state and all-solid-state zinc-air battery, presenting high power densities of 222 and 96 mW cm–2, respectively. Such excellent catalytic activities are mainly owing to the unique three-dimensional structure and chemical compositions, optimal electronic conductivity, adequate surface area, and the abundance of active sites. Thus, this work provides an important method for designing other metal–organic framework-derived three-dimensional structural sulfide quantum dot multifunctional electrocatalysts for wider application in highly efficient catalysis and energy storage.
