To optimize charge carrier injection and reduce interfacial losses in perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs), we introduced a thin interfacial layer of CsPbCl3 quantum dots (QDs) between the red quasi-two-dimensional (PEA5NMA5)0.2CsPb2I7 emitting layer and the electron transport layer (ETL). This interlayer markedly enhances the device performance, which we attribute to multiple synergistic effects. First, the structural compatibility between CsPbCl3 QDs and emitters enables a seamless interface, improving film morphology and interfacial contact. Second, the CsPbCl3 QDs serve as a passivation layer that mitigates surface trap states and suppresses iodine ions diffusion and halide vacancy-induced nonradiative recombination in emitter. Additionally, the wide bandgap and suitable conduction band position of CsPbCl3 QDs create a favorable energy-level cascade, facilitating efficient electron injection from ETL into the emitting layer while simultaneously blocking holes. These combined effects result in enhanced electroluminescence efficiency and improved operational stability. As a result, pure red PeLEDs achieve an impressive external quantum efficiency of 23.7% as well as a 15-fold increase in operational life.

Perovskite nanocrystals (PeNCs) have emerged as a promising class of luminescent materials offering size and composition-tunable luminescence with high efficiency and color purity in the visible range. PeNCs doped with Yb3+ions, known for their near-infrared (NIR) emission properties, have gained significant attention due to their potential applications. However, these materials still face challenges with weak NIR electroluminescence (EL) emission and low external quantum efficiency (EQE), primarily due to undesired resonance energy transfer (RET) occurring between the host and Yb3+ions, which adversely affects their emission efficiency and device performance. Herein, we report the synergistic enhancement of NIR emission in a CsPbCl3host through co-doping with Yb3+/Nd3+ions for perovskite LEDs (PeLEDs). The co-doping of Yb3+/Nd3+ions in a CsPbCl3host resulted in enhanced NIR emission above 1000 nm, which is highly desirable for NIR optoelectronic applications. This cooperative energy transfer between Yb3+and Nd3+can enhance the overall efficiency of energy conversion. Furthermore, the PeLEDs incorporating the co-doped CsPbCl3/Yb3+/Nd3+PeNCs as an emitting layer exhibited significantly enhanced NIR EL compared to the single doped PeLEDs. The optimized co-doped PeLEDs showed improved device performance, including increased EQE of 6.2% at 1035 nm wavelength and low turn-on voltage. Our findings highlight the potential of co-doping with Yb3+and Nd3+ions as a strategy for achieving synergistic enhancement of NIR emission in CsPbCl3perovskite materials, which could pave the way for the development of highly efficient perovskite LEDs for NIR optoelectronic applications. Keywords:perovskite nanocrystals;NIR Emission;co-doping;LEDs;external quantum efficiency

Currently, metal halide perovskite nanocrystals have been extensively explored due to their unique optoelectronic properties and wide application prospects. In the present work, a facile grinding method is developed to prepare whole-family APbX3 (A = MA, FA, and Cs; X = Cl, Br, and I) perovskite nanocrystals. This strategy alleviates the harsh synthesis conditions of precursor dissolution, atmosphere protection, and high temperature. Impressively, the as-prepared perovskite nanocrystals are evidenced to have halogen-rich surfaces and yield visible full-spectral emissions with maximal photoluminescence quantum yield up to 92% and excellent stability. Additionally, the grinding method can be extended to synthesize widely concerned Mn2+-doped CsPbCl3 nanocrystals with dual-modal emissions of both excitons and dopants. As a proof-of-concept experiment, the present perovskite nanocrystals are demonstrated to be applicable as blue/green/red color converters in UV-excitable white-light-emitting diodes.

CsPbCl 3 perovskite is considered as an ideal light absorber for ultraviolet (UV) photodetectors in virtue of its suitable wide bandgap and salient optoelectronic property. Nevertheless, the detection performance of the reported self-powered CsPbCl 3 UV photodetectors is far from satisfactory since it still remains challenging to fabricate high-quality CsPbCl 3 polycrystalline films with low trap-state density. Herein, a novel cadmium (Cd)-doping strategy is demonstrated by an evaporation method to manipulate the optical, electrical and morphological property of the CsPbCl 3 polycrystalline film for the first time. The incorporation of Cd 2+ ions into CsPbCl 3 lattice can effectively improve the crystallinity , grain sizes and UV harvesting capability of the CsPbCl 3 perovskite, while the defect state of the film gets pronouncedly suppressed. Thus, the overall performance of the charge-transport-layer-free Cd-doped CsPbCl 3 photodetectors attains an obvious enhancement. A thin MnS modification layer is further introduced to ameliorate the interfacial charge transport dynamics between the CsPbCl 3 and carbon layers . It is found that the MnS buffer layer can effectively reduce the interfacial barrier and accelerate the hole injection process , yielding a lower interfacial charge accumulation and recombination. The best-performing MnS-modified device achieves an ultra-high current on/off ratio of 3.97 × 10 5 and a high specific detectivity of 5.47 × 10 12 Jones at 0 V bias. This comprehensive performance is comparable to that of any other CsPbCl 3 photodetectors. Besides, the as-prepared CsPbCl 3 photodetectors possess superior operational and thermal stabilities. Our work opens up a new approach for the defect passivation of CsPbCl 3 perovskite and highlights its great application potential in high-performance UV detection.

Optical ions doped transparent glasses have attracted more and more attention because of their potential application in photonic applications. Unfortunately, optically active dopants occupy at non-crystalline coordination environment, which leads to their poor luminescence efficiency. Therefore, how to enhance luminescence efficiency of optically active dopants in glasses remains a great challenge. Here, we proposed a precisely space-separated strategy of donor-acceptor and successfully developed an intense red emitting composite borosilicate glass co-doped with CsPbCl 3 quantum dots and Mn 2+ ions. By rationally controlling post heat-treatment, CsPbCl 3 QDs acting as donor were uniformly precipitated in glass and Mn 2+ ions acting as acceptor are close to CsPbCl 3 QDs but not inside CsPbCl 3 QDs. Benefitted from high absorption efficiency of CsPbCl 3 QDs and efficient energy transfer from CsPbCl 3 QDs to Mn 2+ ions in glasses, Mn 2+ ions give an intense red broadband emission at 650 nm, 11 times as intense as the one without CsPbCl 3 QDs. The optimal external quantum yield of the as-synthesized composite borosilicate glass is estimated to be 28.5%, 9.5 times as large as 3% for the one without CsPbCl 3 QDs. The precise space-separation and energy transfer rate dependent non-radiative energy coupling mechanism was reasonably proposed to explain how CsPbCl 3 QDs highly absorb energy, efficiently transfer it and finally feeding Mn 2+ ion. These results demonstrate that the strategy of using microcrystalline with high absorption efficiency as donor, for instance, CsPbX 3 QDs, to pump optical activator ions as acceptor, for instance, Mn 2+ ion in glass may be very promising for developing high luminescent performance ions-doped transparent glasses.

Doping Mn 2+ ions into cesium lead halide CsPbX 3 (X = Cl, Br, I) perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) has been proven to be an effective strategy to reduce the Pb 2+ content. However, excessive Mn 2+ ions may form the Mn–Mn dimers in PNCs, leading to concentration quenching effects and low photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs). Herein, secondary metal ions (Ni 2+ , Cu 2+ , Zn 2+ ) were introduced to substitute Pb 2+ ions as co-doped (Mn, M):CsPbCl 3 PNCs (M = Ni, Cu, Zn), which were prepared by a facile method under ambient conditions, aiming for positively passivating the surface defects and improving the Mn 2+ emission. Also, to protect the co-doped (Mn, M):CsPbCl 3 PNCs from moisture damage, we performed silica encapsulation, which further passivated surface defects due to the effective hydrolysis of silane . The evolution of optical properties and stabilities of three series of (Mn, M):CsPbCl 3 PNCs was compared. The PLQYs of co-doped (Mn, M):CsPbCl 3 PNCs were larger than those of single-doped Mn: CsPbCl 3 PNCs, especially for (Mn, Ni):CsPbCl 3 and (Mn, Cu):CsPbCl 3 , which can reach nearly 30%. The PLQYs of (Mn, Ni):CsPbCl 3 and (Mn, Zn):CsPbCl 3 PNCs decreased dramatically during the encapsulation process, while the PLQY values of (Mn, Cu):CsPbCl 3 remained 30% even after the same treatment process. Consequently, the prototypes of white light-emitting devices (WLEDs) were successfully fabricated based on orange-red (Mn, Ni):CsPbCl 3 @SiO 2 and (Mn, Zn):CsPbCl 3 @SiO 2 composites. The synergetic effects of co-doping transition metal ions and silica-shell coating on improving optical properties and stabilities were investigated. It has potential for a wide range of applications in the field of solid-state light emission.
