I–III–VI quantum dots (QDs) have gained widespread attention owing to their significant advantages of non-toxicity, large structural tolerance, and efficient photoluminescence potential. However, the disbalance of reactivity between the elements will result in undesired products and compromised optical properties. Reducing the activity of highly reactive group IB elements is the most common approach, but it will reduce the overall reactivity and lead to a wide dispersion of QD sizes. In this study, we propose a method to improve the overall reactivity of the reaction system using the highly active IIIA precursor InI3, which triggers rapid nucleation and promotes the formation of Ag(In,Ga)S2 (AIGS) QDs, resulting in monodisperse particle size distributions and a significantly improved photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) (from 12% to 72%). Furthermore, narrow band edge emission is realized by coating a gallium sulfide (GaSx) shell on the basis of obtaining high-quality AIGS QDs. The core/shell QDs exhibit a 90% PLQY with a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of only 31 nm at 530 nm. This study provides a viable design strategy to synthesize monodisperse AIGS QDs with a narrow peak width and efficient luminescence, promoting the application of AIGS QDs in the field of luminescent displays.

The key point to broaden the operating temperature window for synergistic control of NO x and oxygenated volatile organic compounds (OVOCs) with high NO x /VOCs conversion and N 2 /CO 2 selectivity relies on development of appropriate catalysts. Herein, a silver-modified Mn/HZSM-5 catalyst was designed, which achieved an effective NO x and acetone co-removal activity and maintained over 90 % N 2 /CO 2 selectivity at a broad temperature range from 293 to 400 °C. The excellent performance of MnAg/HZSM-5 was due to large surface area, plenty of oxygen vacancies and Lewis acid sites, as well as outstanding oxygen mobility and reducibility that derived from the interactions between Mn 4+ /Mn 3+ and Ag + /Ag 0 . NO x reduction followed both Eley-Rideal and Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanisms, while acetone hardly replaced NH 3 as a reduction agent. Acetone oxidation underwent acetone → acetate → formate → carbonate → CO 2 and H 2 O following a Mars-van Krevelen mechanism. NH 3 participated in acetone oxidation, forming amide and nitrile species, which caused catalyst deactivation and secondary pollution.

In recent years, MXene has attracted significant attention for electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding due to its unique layered structure and excellent conductivity. However, its mechanical limitations pose challenges for practical implementation. In this study, a lightweight, anisotropic MXene@Ag/wood aerogel composite is fabricated by integrating MXene with silver nanoparticles and loading it onto the cellulose framework of wood aerogels (WAs). The WAs are derived from natural wood through an eco-friendly delignification process. The composite leverages the 3D porous structure of natural wood and the high conductivity of MXene, while the incorporation of silver nanoparticles further enhances its EMI shielding performance, achieving a shielding effectiveness of up to 71.15 dB. It also exhibits a desirable low density of 0.065 g cm − 3 and high SSE/t value of 4904.75 dB cm 2 g −1 , demonstrating excellent lightweight properties. Its anisotropic structure results in direction-dependent shielding, which can be adjusted by material orientation, offering flexibility for diverse applications. Moreover, strong triboelectric nanogenerator output highlights its potential in flexible electronics. This composite holds promising applications in high-frequency circuits, communication systems, and aerospace, reducing EMI interference and enhancing system stability and safety. This study introduces a new strategy for developing lightweight, efficient EMI shielding materials.

The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technique provides a quick and reliable method for detecting pesticide residues. In this study, flexible substrates, composed of orderly arranged silver nanospheres (Ag NPs) films on graphene paper, were fabricated through a simple, low-cost Ag NP self-assembly process at a liquid–liquid interface, followed by transfer of the films onto the graphene paper. The SERS performance of the fabricated substrates was evaluated using a portable Raman spectrometer, with rhodamine 6G (R6G) serving as the probe molecule. The results indicate that the bilayer Ag NP films-covered graphene paper exhibits optimal overall performance, characterized by high sensitivity and high uniformity. The limit of detection (LOD) for the R6G molecule is as low as 8.73 × 10 −9 M, demonstrating the strong signal amplification capability of the SERS substrate. Moreover, the relative standard deviation (RSD) of the Raman intensity at 1508 cm −1 for different selected points on the substrate is 5.018 %, indicating high uniformity of the SERS substrate. Finally, the performance of the SERS substrate was further evaluated by detecting thiram in fresh orange juice, demonstrating the capability to detect concentrations as low as 10 −6 M. This result highlights the significant potential of the developed SERS substrate for practical applications in food safety and quality control.

Lithium metal anodes hold the potential for high-energy-density batteries due to their substantial theoretical capacity, but their practical application is hindered by issues such as dendrite growth, poor cycling stability, and safety concerns. This study presents the development of a three-dimensional Li-Si composite alloy anode (Ag@Cu@Li-Si), combining a porous copper scaffold with a lithiophilic silver (Ag) layer and a lithium-silicon (Li-Si) alloy. The Ag@Cu@Li-Si composite demonstrates significant improvements in dendrite suppression, cycling stability, and electrochemical performance. The composite anode exhibits a critical current density of 15 mA cm −2 and over 900 hours of stable operation at 1.0 mA cm −2 in symmetric cells. When integrated into a full cell with a commercial LiFePO 4 cathode, it maintains excellent cycling stability, delivering over 600 cycles with a rate capability of 1.0 C. This study provides valuable insights into the design of lithium metal anodes, highlighting the importance of lithiophilic materials and 3D frameworks for high-performance lithium-metal batteries.

Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a prevalent contaminant in maize, posing significant threats to human health. This study designed Au Ag Janus NPs with intrinsic Raman signals as signal probes and SiO 2 @AgNPs as capture probes. The two were coupled through complementary base pairing to ensure the ordered, controlled distribution of noble metal nanoparticles. The Au Ag Janus NPs and the highly stable SiO 2 carrier is expected to avoid the adverse effects on stability caused by using signal molecules and the formation of random aggregates when using the noble metal nanoparticle gap effect to concentrate on the electromagnetic field. This study improved the negative impact of AgNPs' high surface energy on their uniformity, while enhancing the pH adaptability of Au Ag Janus NPs. In the presence of AFB1, the composite disintegrates, and the SERS intensity showed a negative correlation with AFB1 concentration, enabling highly sensitive and stable detection of AFB1.

Packaging materials with peculiar antibacterial properties can shield off and inhibit microorganism proliferation, thus achieving packaging goals such as fresh-keeping, good hygiene, and biosafety. Especially, antibacterial films made of biocompatible substances have received wide attentions, which could effectively extend the shelf life, enhance food security, and guarantee economic benefits. Herein, a self-supporting hybrid antibacterial film was prepared based on non-covalently linked choline hydroxide (ChOH) and alginic acid (HAlg). Then tannic acid (TA) and silver ions were added to improve the mechanical and antimicrobial properties of this hybrid film. The rich hydroxyl groups from TA not only form multiple hydrogen bonds with ChAlg, but can also in situ reduce silver ions to silver nanoparticles, which were confirmed with various characterizations. In addition, the quantitative antibacterial test also proved that the antibacterial rate was significantly improved after adding silver ions, reaching >60 %. In an actual storage test, we found that choline cation (Ch + ) captured in antibacterial film by electrostatic interaction could achieve sustained release, i.e. sustainable bacteriostasis, and keep strawberries fresh for 48 h at room temperature. This work offers a new strategy for preparing antibacterial films via non-covalent weak interactions, explored an alternative antibacterial film for food packaging applications.

With the increasing severity of urban heat islands, personal thermal management (PTM) has emerged as a critical solution for maintaining human thermophysiological comfort in dynamic environments. Traditional air conditioning systems are energy-intensive and lack individualized control, highlighting the need for efficient, low-energy PTM strategies. Current PTM materials often operate in static modes, limiting their adaptability to varying conditions. To overcome this, we developed a Janus-structured humidity-photothermal actuator (TpPa-SO₃H/Ag@M) by integrating a TpPa-SO₃H covalent organic framework (COF) for rapid water transport and a silver nanoparticle (AgNP)-intercalated MXene (Ag@M) for humidity gradient formation and enhanced photothermal conversion. The COF layer facilitates moisture accumulation, while the Ag@M laminar structure delays water diffusion, enabling a sensitive humidity response. AgNPs expand the MXene interlayer spacing, improving water uptake and response efficiency by triple compared to initial TpPa-SO₃H/MXene systems, while also preventing structural collapse during cycling. Additionally, AgNPs enables strong solar absorption, boosting photothermal performance. Under combined humidity and light stimulation, the Janus actuator exhibits dynamic bending, enabling autonomous sweat evaporation and body temperature regulation without external energy input. This dual-responsive design offers a promising approach for adaptive, energy-efficient PTM in extreme environments.

Suppressing photoinduced charge recombination represents a critical challenge in photocatalytic ammonia (NH 3 ) decomposition for hydrogen (H 2 ) production. Herein, we propose a dual-cocatalyst system comprising plasmonic silver (Ag) and nickel oxide (NiO), which synergistically construct an Ag → titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) → NiO directional electron cascade on TiO 2 surfaces through work-function-induced interfacial charge transfer. The optimized 3 %Ag-1 %NiO-TiO 2 reaches a significantly photocatalytic H 2 production rate of 2366.9 μmol/h/g from NH 3 splitting, which is 20.7, 2.1 and 1.5 folds higher than that of pristine TiO 2 (114.4 μmol/h/g), 1 %NiO-TiO 2 (1146.7 μmol/h/g) and 3 %Ag-TiO 2 (1534.1 μmol/h/g), respectively. Photoelectric characterizations confirm accelerated charge separation and transfer dynamics through synergistic interplay of NiO and Ag cocatalysts on TiO 2 . Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that work function gradient among TiO 2 , NiO and Ag facilitates unidirectional electron flow from Ag to NiO through the TiO 2 bridge. The optimal nickel (Ni) d-band center position and the reduced potential-determining step energy barrier for NH 3 splitting on 3 %Ag-1 %NiO-TiO 2 are further identified as key factors governing its outstanding H 2 evolution performance. This work establishes a rational dual-cocatalyst design with unidirectional electron flow to enable efficient photocatalytic H 2 production from NH 3 splitting.

Nanosphere lithography enables tunable fabrication of Si nanoarrays (hexagons, stages, cones) on Si (100) by precisely controlling etching time. Specifically, the nanostage arrays, with their high surface area due to neck regions, can absorb more Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs), leading to superior SERS performance through the formation of hotspots. In addition, COMSOL simulations confirm plasmon coupling inter-particle, particle-film, and inter-structure. The linear detection of Thiram (0.05–50 ppm) remains stable within 120 days, meeting practical requirements for pesticide detection and showing potential for food safety applications.

The efficient and reliable monitoring of acetic acid (CH3COOH) is significant to environmental protection and human healthcare. LaFeO3 is a potential sensing material for CH3COOH with its good sensitivity and high plasticity. To further improve the sensing properties of LaFeO3 to meet the requirements of applications, we successfully utilized the facile electrospinning technique to fabricate a series of CH3COOH-sensitive Ag-doped (0–5 mol%) LaFeO3 nanotubes. The systematic characterization shows that the appropriate content (4 mol%) of Ag doping can effectively ameliorate the material morphology to realize loose porous structures. Meanwhile, the sensitization effect of Ag and ameliorated morphology significantly enhance the gas-sensing properties of LaFeO3 to CH3COOH vapor. The optimal Ag-doped LaFeO3 (4 mol%) loose nanotubes-based gas sensor results in a detection limit of 0.5 ppm and 3.6-fold enhancement of the response to 100-ppm CH3COOH compared with the pure LaFeO3 compact nanotubes at a low operating temperature (150 °C). It also exhibits excellent selectivity to CH3COOH and good long-term stability. Therefore, Ag-doped LaFeO3 can be regarded as a promising material for sensing CH3COOH in practical applications. Finally, the mechanism of enhanced gas-sensing properties is discussed.

Ag-modified ZnO coral-like nanosheets were synthesized for the first time using a simple hydrothermal method. Compared to other Ag-modified ZnO sensors, the sensor with 2 wt% Ag content demonstrates excellent ethanol-sensing performance. The maximum response value of 67.42 can be achieved at the optimal operating temperature of 260 °C for 100 ppm ethanol gas, with corresponding response/recovery time of 6/75 s, respectively. This sensor also exhibits superior selectivity, reproducibility, and long-term stability. Techniques such as XRD, XPS, SEM, and TEM were employed to characterize the physicochemical properties of the gas-sensitive materials. Further research indicates that the enhanced gas-sensing properties of the composite materials can be mainly attributed to the unique coral-like nanosheet structure, the relatively high-specific surface area (9.8706 m 2 /g), and the combined effects of the Ag-ZnO heterostructure, as well as the synergistic interplay of electronic sensitization and spillover effects. This research offers valuable insights into the modification of ZnO-based gas-sensing materials with noble metals. Graphical
