The TiO 2 has the problems of low utilization of visible light and high photogenerated carrier recombination rate. The photocatalytic activity of TiO 2 can be significantly improved by introducing F ion and narrow band gap material Ag 2 S. When F ions are present on the {001} surface of TiO 2 , surface F ions drive positively charged holes across the {001} surface, creating a synergistic effect that promotes the separation of electron-hole pairs. During the sample composite process, a certain amount of Ag will be precipitated to form an all-solid Z-type heterojunction structure of Ag 2 S, Ag and F-TiO 2 , which can improve the electron-hole separation efficiency. The results of XPS characterization confirmed the migration of F ion and the precipitation of Ag. The Ag 2 S/F-TiO 2 composite sample was referred to as AT for short, and the corresponding ratio was 1:10,1:20,1:30,1:40, the optimal sample AT 1:20 degraded 95.6% tetracycline hydrochloride within 2 hours. This work simultaneously realizes TiO 2 self-modification (synergistic effect of F ion migration and TiO 2 {001} crystal surface) and composite modification (formation of all-solid Z-type heterojunction), a new idea of studying TiO 2 self-modified cooperative heterostructures is proposed, and the good application potential of AT nanocomposites in photocatalytic water treatment technology is demonstrated.

In this study, a novel Pt-loaded CuPc/g-C 3 N 4 (PtCuCN) composite was synthesized for the selective photocatalytic reduction of CO 2 to CH 4 under visible light. The PtCuCN catalyst achieved a CH 4 yield of 39.8 μmol g⁻ 1 h⁻ 1 , significantly outperforming bulk g-C₃N₄ and CuPc alone by factors of 2.5 and 3.1, respectively, with a high selectivity of 90%. In comparison with other commonly studied photocatalysts, such as g-C 3 N 4 -based catalysts, the PtCuCN composite exhibited superior CH 4 yield and product selectivity, demonstrating its potential as a more efficient photocatalyst for CO₂ reduction. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), density functional theory (DFT) calculations, and in-situ infrared (IR) analysis revealed that the Pt⁰ species effectively lower the activation energy for CH 4 formation, while CuPc extends the light absorption range and enhances charge separation. The combined effects of these components in a Z-scheme heterojunction provide new insights into designing highly selective CO 2 -to-CH 4 photocatalysts. This work demonstrates the potential of PtCuCN as a highly efficient and stable catalyst for CO 2 reduction to CH 4 under visible light.

The residues of oxytetracycline hydrochloride (OTC) in water have potential adverse effects on human health and ecological environment. Photocatalytic degradation has been widely studied in the treatment of antibiotic pollution due to its environmentally friendly and efficient characteristics. However, the band gap of traditional photocatalysts is too wide, and the recombination of photogenerated electrons and holes is serious, which has negative effects on photocatalysis . Therefore, the Z-scheme heterojunction g-C 3 N 4 @MIL-101(Fe) composite photocatalyst was synthesized by high temperature calcination combined with solvothermal method. g-C 3 N 4 @MIL-101(Fe) was characterized by XRD, FTIR , SEM, TEM and other tests. All the results showed that the compound was successful A series of photoelectric tests showed that g-C 3 N 4 @MIL-101(Fe) has a narrower band gap, stronger light absorption ability, and improved the separation rate of photogenerated electrons and holes. Under visible light irradiation, g-C 3 N 4 @MIL-101(Fe) could remove 87.68% of OTC in 300 min. g-C 3 N 4 @MIL-101(Fe) showed good potential for practical application in five real water samples and stability after six cycles. Finally, superoxide radicals and hole radicals were identified as the main reactive species in the photodegradation process. The mechanism and pathway of the photocatalytic degradation of OTC by g-C 3 N 4 @MIL-101(Fe) are proposed. This work expands the construction and application of Fe-MOF based Z-scheme heterostructure and provides a new idea for water pollution remediation.

The indiscriminate of tetracycline (TC) has led to significant environmental and health concerns, particularly the proliferation of antibiotic resistance. This study presents a visible-light photocatalytic composite membrane with a Z-scheme heterojunction to improve TC removal efficiency and address the challenge of catalyst powder recovery in practical applications. Firstly, the PI/NH 2 -UiO-66 (PNs) composite photocatalyst was synthesized via a one-step thermal solvent method. Subsequently, the PVDF/MXene/PI/NH 2 -UiO-66 (PMPNs) composite fiber membrane was successfully fabricated by stably loading the PNs and MXene onto PVDF fiber membranes through electrospinning. Under visible light irradiation, the removal efficiency of TC by the PMPN1.5 composite fiber membrane could reach 86.07% through the combined effects of filtration, adsorption, and photocatalysis. Even after three cycles, the recovery rate of the PMPN1.5 membrane could still reach 86.16%. The enhanced photocatalytic performance was due to the Z-scheme heterojunction between PI and NH 2 -UiO-66. This heterojunction structure enhanced the redox capability of the photocatalyst. Additionally, the incorporation of MXene facilitated effectively charged carrier transfer at the heterojunction interface, prolonging the electron-hole separation time and further improving the photocatalytic capability. This study successfully integrates photocatalytic technology with membrane separation to develop a visible light-responsive composite fiber membrane with considerable potential for treating antibiotic-contaminated wastewater. The developed membrane not only mitigates fouling but is also easily recyclable, minimizing the risk of secondary pollution.

Recently, a visible-light-driven photocatalysis coupled peroxydisulfate (PDS) activation system was developed for improving the efficiency of antibiotics degradation in wastewater. A Z -scheme FeOOH/CNNS photocatalyst was successfully applied for tetracycline (TC) degradation. In this study, graphene oxide (GO) was introduced into the fabrication procedure of the former catalyst. The optimzed FeOOH/GO/CNNS photocatalyst achieved 98.8 % TC degradation within 40 min (k = 0.0964 min −1 ), which was 2.58 and 8.53 times compared to FeOOH/CNNS and CNNS, respectively. This significant improvement can be attributed to the fact that 2D porous CNNS and GO can increase the surface area and active sites, avoiding FeOOH aggregation. Next, narrow-bandgap FeOOH improves visible-light utilization, while GO acts as an interfacial bridge to form an all-solid-state Z -scheme heterojunction, accelerating carrier separation and inhibiting recombination. Finally, radical trapping confirms • O 2 − , • OH, SO 4 •- , and h + synergistically degrade TC. This design provides a novel strategy for PDS-based efficient photocatalytic advanced oxidation.

In this study, a Z-type heterojunction photocatalyst CoWO 4 /CS/BiOCl-10 was constructed by hydrothermal synthesis for the efficient removal of norfloxacin (NOR) contaminants in water. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) combined with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) confirmed that the hydroxyl group in the chitosan (CS) molecule was bonded with the oxygen atom on the surface of CoWO 4 through hydrogen bonding to form a directional charge transport channel, which greatly improved the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of CoWO 4 /CS/BiOCl-10, and the degradation rate was as high as 98.30 % within 90 min under 300 W xenon lamp irradiation. Optoelectronic measurements show that the interfacial potential difference drives electrons to migrate along the Z-path. Density functional theory (DFT) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) were used to identify intermediates in the NOR degradation process, revealing the degradation pathway of NOR through piperazine ring cleavage and defluorination. The kinetics of NOR degradation intermediates were revealed using two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2DCOS) techniques. Rice seed germination experiments have shown that the degraded NOR solution is virtually non-toxic, greatly reducing the environmental impact. This study provides a new strategy for the development of efficient photocatalytic systems through the synergistic regulation mechanism of hydrogen bonding and heterojunction.

The efficacy of electron-hole separation in a single sonosensitizer and the complexities of the tumor microenvironment (TME) present significant challenges to the effectiveness of sonodynamic therapy (SDT). Designing efficient sonosensitizers to enhance electron-hole separation and alleviate TME resistance is crucial yet challenging. Herein, we introduce a novel Z-scheme heterojunctions (HJs) sonosensitizer using Fe-doped carbon dots (CDs) as auxiliary semiconductors to sensitize cubic Cu 2 O (Fe-CDs@Cu 2 O) for the first time. Fe-CDs@Cu 2 O demonstrated enhanced SDT effects due to improved electron-hole separation. Additionally, the introduction of Fe ions in CDs synergistically enhances Fenton-like reactions with Cu ions in Cu 2 O, resulting in enhanced chemodynamic therapy (CDT) effects. Moreover, Fe-CDs@Cu 2 O exhibited rapid glutathione (GSH) depletion, effectively mitigating TME resistance. With high rates of 1 O 2 and OH generated by Fe-CDs@Cu 2 O, coupled with strong GSH depletion, single drug injection and ultrasound (US) irradiation effectively eliminate tumors. This innovative heterojunction sonosensitizer offers a promising pathway for clinical anti-tumor treatment.

Dual Z-schemed photocatalysts possess superior charge-separation efficiency and powerful redox capabilities, which have attracted significant attention in photocatalytic CO 2 reduction (PCR). However, most of the dual Z-scheme systems are focused on inorganic semiconductors, which remain a challenge to control the selectivity of PCR products. Herein, we designed a cascade dual Z-scheme structured organic/inorganic heterojunction of HCdS@ZnIn 2 S 4 -Cobalt porphyrin (HCdS@ZIS-CoTPPS). HCdS@ZIS-CoTPPS demonstrated excellent PCR activity (CO rate: 93.64 μmol·g −1 ·h −1 ) and adjustable syngas ratio when compared to HCdS, ZIS, CoTPPS, and HCdS/ZIS. Experimental characterizations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that the superior PCR activity of HCdS@ZIS-CoTPPS is contributed by the broad light absorption range, short charge carrier migration path, low interface contact resistance, and strong redox ability induced by the hollow structured cascade dual Z-scheme heterojunction. This article provides valuable inspiration for the design and preparation of atomistic heterojunctions for solar-driven fuel generation.

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have recently gained attention as a highly promising category of photocatalytic materials, showing great potential in the degradation of organic dyes such as Rhodamine B (RhB). Nonetheless, the mono-metal MOF materials in this application are often constrained by their limited light absorption capabilities and their propensity for recombination with carriers. The combination of different metal-based MOFs to form heterogeneous reactors could present a promising approach for the removal of dyes from water. In this work, a new CAU-17/MIL-100(Fe) Z-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst composed of two MOFs with the same ligands is reported to realize the efficient degradation of dyes in water. The combination of the two MOFs results in a significant enhancement of the surface open sites, optical responsivity range, and charge-separating efficiency through synergistic effects. In addition, the capture experiments conducted on the photocatalytic process have verified that ∙O2−and h+are the primary active species. Consequently, CAU-17/MIL-100(Fe) exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity and stability. The degradation rate of the optimal CAU-17/MIL-100(Fe) photocatalyst was 34.55 times that of CAU-17 and 3.60 times that of MIL-100(Fe). Our work provides a new strategy for exploring the visible-light degradation of RhB in bimetallic MOF composites.

In this study, a Z-scheme heterostructure was meticulously engineered between zinc tungstate (ZnWO 4 ) nanofibers and polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) nanosheets to augment the photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline (TC) under visible light irradiation. A cohesively integrated PCN/ZnWO 4 photocatalyst structure was synthesized through an in-situ gas-solid reaction. The quantity and spatial distribution of PCN nanosheets were modulated by fine-tuning the gas precursor and reaction parameters. Relative to pristine ZnWO 4 nanofibers and PCN photocatalysts, the distinct three-dimensional PCN/ZnWO 4 heterostructure manifests a notable enhancement in photocatalytic performance, attributed to its plethora of active sites and a Z-scheme configuration that bolsters charge separation efficiency, achieving a tetracycline degradation rate of 95.4% upon exposure to simulated sunlight for 160 minutes. The employment of gas-solid reaction as a design paradigm pioneers a fresh paradigm in the strategic assembly of Z-scheme heterostructured photocatalysts, thereby illuminating a promising pathway for advancements in environmental remediation technologies.

A neutral polysaccharide (NDHP-2-1) was isolated from Dendrobium huoshanense C. Z. Tang et S. J. Cheng ( D. huoshanense ). Structure characterization revealed that the weight-average molecular weight of NDHP-2-1 was 20.42 kDa, mainly composed of glucose (95.46 %) and mannose (4.54 %). The backbone of NDHP-2-1 consisted of →6)-α-D-Glc p -(1→, →4)-α-D-Glc p -(1→, and →3,4)-α-D-Glc p -(1→. The T-α-D-Glc p was regarded as the branches attached to the O-4 position of →3,4)-α-D-Glc p -(1 → in the backbone. In vitro experiments indicated that NDHP-2-1 exhibited excellent anti-inflammatory activity. The RAW264.7 cell assay results showed that NDHP-2-1 effectively inhibited the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-10 (IL-10) from LPS-stimulated macrophages. In general, the newly isolated polysaccharide of NDHP-2-1 exhibited significant anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory properties, suggesting its potential as an effective natural therapeutic agent for managing inflammatory diseases.

Although silicon is a promising anode material for lithium-ion batteries, efficient and controllable synthesis of silicon anodes with good cyclability and low electrode swelling remains a major challenge. Here, we have synthesized a novel bread-like Si/C composite with a yolk-double shell structure through sol–gel and self-template methods. In this design, the zeolite imidazolate framework-derived nitrogen-doped porous carbon skeleton is applied to enhance the electrical conductivity of silicon, and the adequate space inside the yolk-double shell structure can effectively mitigate the volume change of silicon. Additionally, porous structures are not only conducive to the rapid diffusion of the electrolyte but also shorten the migration channel of lithium ions and electrons. The stable bread-like double carbon layer structure helps in the formation of stable solid electrolyte interphase films. As expected, the composite demonstrates exceptional electrochemical properties, including outstanding reversible capacity (868.1 mA h g−1 after 500 extended cycles at 1 A g−1) and remarkable rate capability (408.1 mA h g−1 at a high current density of 5 A g−1). Moreover, the anode has a low electrode expansion rate of 31% after cycling. This study provides a new idea for designing high-stability silicon-based anode materials.
