Epidermal electronics, which are flexible and conformable electronic systems designed to interact seamlessly with human skin, hold great promise for healthcare monitoring and personal electronics. However, traditional fabrication methods face challenges of reliance on non-sustainable materials, intricate and time-consuming processes, and material softness-induced fragile transfer to target substrates. Inspired by the “milk skin” phenomenon, we developed a rapid dipping-dipping molecular assembly method to fabricate cellulose-based bio-skin in situ within seconds, exhibiting ultra-thin, highly conformal, shape-customizable, degradable, and low-impedance performances. This technique immerses substrates sequentially into carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and Cu(II) solutions, leveraging strong metal-coordination interactions. Membrane formation efficiency, influenced by the oxidation and coordination characteristics of metal ions, follows the order: Cu(II) > Fe(II) > Ca(II). CMC-Ag(I)/CMC-Cu(II) form stable membranes, whereas CMC-Fe(II) forms fragmented structures, and CMC-Mg(II)/CMC-Ca(II) remain in solution. This adaptable method can also be extended to other biomacromolecules like methylcellulose and carboxymethyl chitosan, broadening applications. The bio-skin enables real-time monitoring of electrocardiograms (ECG), electrooculograms (EOG), electroencephalograms (EEG), and electromyograms (EMG), showcasing its potential for wearable, biocompatible electronics in healthcare.

Reprogramming tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) from the pro-tumoral M2-like state to the immunostimulatory M1-like phenotype has emerged as a promising strategy for tumor therapy. However, most M2-like TAMs are preferentially located in hypoxic regions of the tumor, which are poorly accessible to many advanced drug delivery systems, posing a significant challenge to effective TAM reprogramming. Here, leveraging the tropism of facultative anaerobic bacteria to localize and propagate in the hypoxic tumor, an optogenetically engineered Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 strain conjugated with murine STING agonist (EcN flaB @UPD) was developed for cancer-specific immunotherapy. Upon near-infrared light illumination, the blue and UV emissions from upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) simultaneously activate the expression of Toll-like receptor (TLR) agonist, flaB, from EcN flaB , and the release of photocaged murine STING agonist, DMXAA, respectively. This spatiotemporally synchronized dual release ensures co-localized STING and TLR5 agonists inside the hypoxic niche, repolarizing TAMs from the M2 to the M1 phenotype via synergistic TLR5-MAPK1-NF-κB and STING-NF-κB signaling. The polarization of TAMs enhances their antigen-presenting capacity and, more importantly, activates the cytotoxic, stem-like and memory CD8 + T cells responses. This subsequently inhibits tumor growth, relapse, and metastasis in the murine 4T1 tumor model. Collectively, our work introduces the bacteria-based system that uses near-infrared light to dual-release immunotherapeutics for systemic anti-tumor immunity, opening new avenues for precise and effective cancer immunotherapy.

a drug delivery system based on k anemite/carvedilo (Ka/CV) composite for sustained release of carvedilol (CV) has been constructed by protonation, intercalation, and ionic exchange process. Structure and compositional analyses revealed that the initial Na-kanemite (Na-Ka) was an orthorhombic structure with chemical formula of NaHSi 2 O 4 (OH) 2 ·2.52H 2 O. When the Na-Ka was protonated with HCl solution, the yielding H-kanemite (H-Ka) was also an orthorhombic structure with chemical formula of be H 2 Si 2 O 4 (OH) 2 ·0.60H 2 O. After the H-Ka was reacted with tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAOH) solution, a colloid suspension consisting of TBA + and Ka (TBA-Ka) formed, and the TBA-Ka sediment exhibited amorphous state. Further, while the TBA-Ka colloid suspension was reacted with carvedilo hydrochloride solution, the Ka/CV composite formed, and its chemical formula was estimated to be H 1.08 [(C 24 H 27 N 2 O 4 ) + 0.92 ]·Si 2 O 4 (OH) 2 ·6.70H 2 O. The loading capacity of Ka/CV for CV was about 57.60%. Drug release revealed that the Ka/CV composite showed extremely slow and sustained release of CV in phosphate buffer solution (PBS, pH = 7.40), and the releasing percentages of CV were 4.09, 5.81, 7.06, 7.62, and 7.64% after 6, 12, 24, 48, and 96 h, respectively. This extremely slow and sustained release of CV may be important in maintaining effective drug concentrations in the bloodstream with a single administration, thereby enhancing therapeutic efficacy and improving drug availability.

Parkinson’s disease (PD) affects tens of millions of people globally, yet current clinical management remains fragmented, relying on subjective assessments and episodic laboratory measurements that fail to capture disease dynamics in real-world settings. Here, we present a smart textile-integrated multimodal interface (STMI) that seamlessly combines tremor quantification with real-time therapeutic drug monitoring through a wearable wristband platform. The system integrates an array of enhanced triboelectric nanogenerators with optimized bead-on-string nanofiber architecture for sensitive tremor detection, coupled with fiber-based electrochemical sensors for simultaneous monitoring of levodopa (LD), pH, and sodium levels in sweat. By leveraging deep learning algorithms (bidirectional LSTM), the STMI achieves accurate discrimination between healthy controls, prodromal Parkinson’s patients, and PD patients—including early detection of prodromal stages currently undetectable by standard imaging. Longitudinal tracking in PD patients demonstrates real-time correlation between tremor suppression and LD pharmacokinetics, enabling quantitative assessment of medication efficacy and identification of wearing-off phenomena. The textile-based form factor ensures ergonomic wearability and mechanical robustness for continuous monitoring, while the integrated multimodal sensing paradigm establishes a new standard for personalized PD management. This work demonstrates how intelligent wearable systems can bridge the gap between motor symptom assessment and pharmacological profiling, transforming PD care from episodic clinical visits to continuous, data-driven therapeutic optimization. Catalytic transfer hydrogenation (CTH) of furfural to furfuryl alcohol is a pivotal strategy for valorizing biomass-derived platform molecules. Herein, we report the design of a yolk-shell MOF-808@hollow mesoporous silica spheres (MOF-808@HMSS) catalyst, where MOF-808 nanocrystals are uniformly confined within the internal cavities of HMSS. Compared to pure MOF-808, the spatial confinement effect imposed by HMSS induces the formation of smaller MOF-808 nanocrystals, increasing the density of accessible active sites. The mechanically robust HMSS shell significantly enhances the structural integrity of the catalyst by mitigating mechanical attrition and suppressing leaching of active components during reaction. Notably, the unique yolk-shell architecture creates a confined nanoscale microenvironment that promotes efficient adsorption and activation of reactants at catalytic centers. Consequently, MOF-808@HMSS exhibits markedly superior performance in CTH of furfural as well as higher reusability and cycling stability compared to pure MOF-808. Detailed characterization reveals abundant Lewis acid sites with a minor proportion of basic sites in MOF-808@HMSS. Selective poisoning experiments confirm that Lewis acid sites play a predominant role in the Meerwein-Ponndorf-Verley reaction, while synergistic interplay between acidic and basic sites enhances reactant adsorption and facilitates i -propanol deprotonation, collectively accelerating the overall CTH process. Branched-chain amino acids play critical roles in cardiac physiology and diseases. Genetic deficiency in the valine catabolic enzyme ACAD8 is clinically associated with isobutyryl-CoA deregulation and cardiomyopathy in humans, but its roles in cardiac disease remain undefined. Here, we show that the levels of ACAD8 are reduced in humans and male mice with cardiac hypertrophy. Cardiomyocyte-specific Acad8 knockout in male mice exacerbates cardiac hypertrophy and cardiac dysfunction underwent pressure overload. Mechanistically, Acad8 deficiency leads to the accumulation of its substrate isobutyryl-CoA, which enhances histone isobutyrylation, chromatin accessibility and TEAD2 enrichment at promoter regions of hypertrophy-related genes, which increases the sensitivity to hypertrophic stress in mouse hearts and cardiomyocytes. Conversely, ACAD8 overexpression in cardiomyocytes suppresses isobutyryl-CoA accumulation and histone isobutyrylation, thereby attenuating cardiac hypertrophy and dysfunction. These results elucidate the roles of ACAD8 deficiency in cardiac diseases and reveal histone isobutyrylation in transcription regulation and cardiac pathology.

Liquid crystal elastomers are unique choices for designing the next generation soft robots. Their synthesis relies exclusively on the polymerization/crosslinking of reactive mesogens with high molecular rigidity, necessitating high energy input to disrupt the molecular order for their actuation function. We report a non-mesogenic route towards designing liquid crystal elastomers. The monomeric precursors are non-mesogenic, but the supramolecular interactions are amplified in the polymerized network due to their cooperative nature, leading to liquid crystallinity. This allows resolving the common conflict between high actuation strain and low energy input, making it possible to design soft robots that can operate autonomously by harnessing the serendipitous energy from natural environments. Our molecular design broadens the scope of liquid crystalline materials, with potential implications beyond elastomeric actuators.

Corrosion mechanism of minerals and glass is a critical study domain in geology and materials science, vital for comprehending material durability under various environmental conditions. Despite decades of extensive study, a core aspect of these mechanisms—specifically, the formation of amorphous alteration layers upon exposure to aqueous environments—remains controversial. In this study, the corrosion behavior of a boro-alumino-phospho-silicate glass (BAPS) was investigated using advanced solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (SSNMR) and SEM techniques. The results are consistent with a uniform nanoscale phase separation into aluminum phosphrous -rich and aluminum silicate-rich domains. During corrosion, the aluminum phosphrous -rich domains undergo gelation, whereas the aluminum silciate-rich domains remain vitreous, forming a gel layer comprised of both phases. Although SEM images show a sharp gel/glass interface—suggestive of a dissolution-precipitation mechanism, multiple lines of evidence indicate that an in situ transformation mechanism is more consistent with our findings, even if dissolution–precipitation cannot be entirely excluded. This in situ transformation is governed by a series of coupled chemical reactions, involving: (i) preferential hydrolysis of aluminum phosphrous -rich domains leading to porous gel regions; (ii) retention of aluminum silciate-rich glass domains within the gel layer, with water infiltrating inter-network spaces; and (iii) selective leaching of phosphorus over aluminum, leading to reorganization of the gel network. Developing high-security anticounterfeiting with reliable authentication remains a significant challenge in preventing information leakage and economic losses from counterfeiting. Here, we successfully reported physically uncopiable optical system based on piezochromic polymer hydrogels (PPH). Pressure treatment induces a clustering-triggered emission transition from red to blue, driven by suppressed through-space interactions and reduced electron delocalization, with the blue-emissive state stably retained after pressure release. Stochastic spatial distribution of red- and blue-emissive particles generates physically unclonable patterns with high distinguishability. Statistical analysis reveals near-ideal randomness together with high uniqueness and reliability. A similarity-based machine learning framework enables rapid and robust authentication, overcoming the subjectivity and inefficiency of human-eye recognition. This work establishes piezochromic polymer hydrogels as a platform for physically unclonable optical systems for secure anti-counterfeiting.

N 6 -methyladenosine (m 6 A) modifications play a vital role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression. However, the function of m 6 A reader proteins in HCC remains poorly understood. Here, we elucidate the role and mechanism of insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2 (IGF2BP2) in HCC. In here, we analyzed IGF2BP2 expression in HCC using bioinformatics and clinical samples. The functional role of the IGF2BP2-RELB regulatory axis in HCC progression was assessed through cytological assays and a xenograft HCC mouse model. RNA sequencing, Western blotting, Actinomycin-D assays, and RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) and methylated RNA immunoprecipitation (MeRIP) assays were performed to investigate the regulatory mechanisms of IGF2BP2 on RELB expression. We found high expression of IGF2BP2 in HCC was positively correlated with poor prognosis. Gain- and loss-of-function assays demonstrated that IGF2BP2 was essential for HCC cell proliferation and migration. IGF2BP2 directly bound to RELB mRNA and enhanced its stability via the KH3/4 domain. Upregulated RELB promoted nuclear translocation of the RELB:p52 dimer, leading to activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway. Furthermore, inhibition of IGF2BP2 and RELB suppressed HCC tumor progression both in vitro and in vivo. Our study demonstrates that IGF2BP2 plays a critical role in HCC progression by stabilizing RELB mRNA and activating the NF-κB signaling pathway. The results suggest that IGF2BP2 may be a potential therapeutic strategy for HCC.

Herein, stretchable multifunctional superhydrophobic films with high robustness were fabricated using simple spraying approach. More specifically, a rigid polymer named poly(amide imide) (PAI) and an elastic polymer named thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) were adopted to prepare stretchable substrate, which exhibited a tensile strength as high as 43 MPa and an elongation-at-break close to 240%. Encouragingly, the mechanical property of composite coating was nearly unchanged after spraying the modified silica (m-SiO 2 ) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on the substrate surface. Hierarchical pore structure with micro/nano size was constructed, which endowed the PAI-TPU/MWCNTs/m-SiO 2 composite films with excellent hydrophobicity, the water contact angle (CA) was as high as 154°, and the sliding angle (SA) was below 5°. More interestingly, intensive conductive network was formed, and thus the PAI-TPU/MWCNTs/m-SiO 2 composite coating showed good electrothermal property, the temperature increased by 26 °C at a safe voltage of 36 V even it was elongated by 40%. Also, due to the good optical absorption ability of MWCNTs, the PAI-TPU/MWCNTs/m-SiO 2 stretchable composite coating exhibited unique photothermal property, the equilibrium temperature increased from 16.5 to 123 °C when the intensity of optical power increased from 0.02 to 0.22 W/cm 2 , correspondingly. More importantly, the PAI-TPU/MWCNTs/m-SiO 2 composite coating showed high robustness, the CA and SA were almost unchanged even if they were suffered from harsh treatments such as ultrasonic oscillation, sandpaper abrasion, hot-water jet impingement, UV irradiation, and immersion in strong acid or alkali solutions.
