Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have been proved to be outstanding candidates for humidity sensors, however, pure MOFs are still limited in hysteresis, integration, and intelligence. In this investigation, inspired by a single-site-ion strategy for catalysis, UiO-66-NH 2 is first grafted by 2, 6-DPA (2, 6-dipicolinic acid) molecules (named as U-DPA) and then combined by Zn (II) ions (noted as U-DPA-Zn). Taking advantage of electrolyte and MOF, U-DPA-Zn exhibits significantly enhanced humidity sensing performance than UiO-66-NH 2 and U-DPA. U-DPA-Zn possesses the highest sensitivity (S r = 8.07 × 10 3 ), the best linearity (R 2 = 0.994), the shortest response-recovery time (τ res = 2 s, τ rec = 105 s), the smallest hysteresis (ΔH = 1.81%), as well as good repeatability in a wide relative humidity (RH) range (11%-97%). Thanks to its excellent properties, U-DPA-Zn shows great potential in the field of monitoring human respiration (breath detection) and water evaporation on human skin (finger detection). Additionally, the humidity sensing mechanism is discussed based on complex impedance analysis, revealing the single Zn (II) make giant contribution to MOFs. This work provides an optional material for humidity sensors and further a new strategy to improve the humidity sensitivity of pure MOFs.

Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) are emerging as promising candidates for photocatalytic CO2 conversion. However, their practical application is still restricted by the poor intrinsic stability and weak adsorption/activation toward CO2 molecules. The rational design of MHPs-based heterostructures with high stability and abundant active sites is a potential solution to this obstacle. Herein, we report the in situ growth of lead-free Cs2CuBr4 perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) in KIT-6 mesoporous molecular sieve, obtaining remarkable photocatalytic CO2 reduction activity and durable stability. The optimized Cs2CuBr4@KIT-6 heterostructure exhibits the photocatalytic CO and CH4 evolution rates of 51.6 and 17.2 μmol g–1 h–1, respectively, far exceeding those of pristine Cs2CuBr4. On the basis of in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectra and theoretical investigations, the detailed CO2 photoreduction pathway is systematically revealed. This work provides a new route for the rational construction of perovskite-based heterostructures with strong CO2 adsorption/activation and good stability for photocatalytic CO2 reduction.

Prenyl groups increase the lipophilicity of flavonoids, endowing them with a special activity, selectivity, and pharmacological properties by prenylation. Herein, a novel prenyltransferase (ShFPT) gene from Streptomyces sp. NT11 was expressed in Escherichia coli, and its biochemical characteristics were determined. ShFPT exhibited high selectivity to prenylate naringenin at C-6 to generate 6-prenylnaringenin. The optimal activity was observed at pH 6.0 and 55 °C. The Kcat and Km for naringenin were 0.0095 s–1 and 0.20 mM, respectively. Several promiscuous kinase and isopentenyl phosphate kinase genes were screened to develop the most efficient dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP) synthesis pathway for 6-prenylnaringenin synthesis in E. coli. The 6-prenylnaringenin production was improved by changing the induction strategies and optimizing the bioconversion conditions. Finally, 6-prenylnaringenin production reached the highest yield of 69.9 mg/L with average productivity of 4.0 mg/L/h after 16 h incubation, which is the highest yield for any prenylated flavonoid reported to date in E. coli. Therefore, this study provides an efficient method for 6-prenylnaringenin production and reveals the DMAPP synthesis pathway.

The postharvest losses of litchi caused by litchi downy blight are considerably high. We identified a natural antifungal volatile pyrone, 6-pentyl-2H-pyran-2-one (6PP), synthesized by Trichoderma erinaceum LS019-2 and investigated as biocontrol for litchi downy blight and preservation. 6PP significantly inhibited the growth and sporangial germination of Peronophythora litchii, the causal agent of litchi downy blight, and caused severe cellular and intracellular destructions, as evidenced by electron microscopic analysis. Furthermore, in the treatment, the fruit kept better color, higher weight, and antioxidant activity, so it can maintain freshness and prolong shelf life. Metabolome analysis confirmed the decline of lipids and the accumulation of organic acids in litchi fruits in response to 6PP treatment. These effects from 6PP could alleviate disease effects and prolong the shelf life of litchi fruits. These findings suggested that 6PP could be a useful natural product to control downy blight disease and a new preservative of litchi fruits.

Owing to the high mortality and strong infection ability of COVID-19, the early rapid diagnosis is essential to reduce the risk of severe symptoms and the loss of lung function. In clinic, the commonly used detection methods, including the computed tomography (CT) and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), are often time-consuming with bulky instruments, which normally require more than one hour to report the results. To shorten the analytical period for testing the COVID-19 virus (SARS-CoV-2), we proposed an ultrafast and ultrasensitive DNA sensors to achieve an accurate determination of the DNA sequence by the RNA reverse transcription (rtDNA) of the SARS-CoV-2. A nanocubic architecture of the MnFe@Pt crystals was constructed to integrate both electrocatalysis and conductivity to greatly improve the biosensing performance. After the immobilization of a specific capture and report DNA on above nanocomposite, the rtDNA can be rapidly caught to the DNA sensor to form a double-helix structure, thus generating the current signal change. Within only 10 min, the as-prepared DNA sensors exhibited ultralow detection limit (1 × 10 −20 M) and wide linear detection range, together with an outstanding selectivity among various interfering substances.

The transcriptional repressor B-cell lymphoma 6 (BCL6) is frequently misregulated in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) and has emerged as an attractive drug target for the treatments of lymphoma. In this article, a series of N-phenyl-4-pyrimidinamine derivatives were designed and synthesized as potent BCL6 inhibitors by optimizing hit compound N4-(3-chloro-4-methoxyphenyl)-N2-isobutyl-5-fluoro-2,4-pyrimidinediamine on the basis of the structure–activity relationship. Among them, compound 14j displayed the most potent activities, which significantly blocked the interaction of BCL6 with its corepressors, reactivated BCL6 target genes in a dose-dependent manner, and had better effects compared with the two positive controls. Further studies indicated that a low dose of 14j could effectively inhibit germinal center formation. More importantly, 14j not only showed potent inhibition of DLBCL cell proliferation in vitro but also strongly suppressed the growth of DLBCL in vivo.

BACKGROUND A series of ZSM-5@KIT-6 composite molecular sieve catalysts was prepared by encapsulating ZSM-5 as a substrate in the mesoporous material KIT-6. The intent was to use these catalysts to promote the catalytic cracking of a waste cooking oil model compound (WCOMC) to produce light olefins. RESULTS The morphology, structural characteristics and acidity of each of the resulting catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, N 2 -Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (N 2 -BET) surface area analysis and temperature-programmed ammonia desorption. The results showed that ZSM-5 was successfully coated with KIT-6. The BET surface areas of these catalysts ranged from 345 to 792 m 2 g −1 and the specimens had average pore sizes in the range of 2.37–5.51 nm. Total acidity increased with increases in the mass-based proportion of ZSM-5 in the material. CONCLUSION The catalytic cracking of WCOMC was studied in a lab-scale fixed-bed apparatus. Trials at a reaction temperature of 600 °C using the material having a mass-based ZSM-5 proportion of 80.0% (ZK-80) gave the highest gas-phase yield of light olefins of 43.8%. After 6000 min, the catalytic performance of this material remained stable, demonstrating a resistance to carbon deposits. The superior activity of the present composite catalysts can be ascribed to improvements in pore structure and acid strength distribution. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry (SCI).

Herein, the modification of polydopamine (PDA) surface improved the high temperature stability of polysulfone (PSF)/PAO40 microcapsules ( D -microcapsules), which achieved the potential application of microcapsules in polyamide 6 (PA6). The D -microcapsules in PA6 for lubricative application has been investigated by ball-on-disc friction tests. In particular, the inclusion of 9 wt% D -microcapsules yielded the best tribological properties where the value of COF (0.088) was largely decreased as compared with that of the neat PA6(0.41). Moreover, the wear rate was found to be decreased from 4 × 10 −3 mm 3 /Nm to 4.3 × 10 −6 mm 3 /Nm. It has been demonstrated that better antifriction performance was associated with the lubricating film generated by PAO40. Therefore, the prepared PA6-based self-lubricating composites can be further applied in the field of self-lubricating materials.

A novel chiral sensing platform, 6-O-α-maltosyl-β-cyclodextrin (Mal-βCD)-based film, is proposed for selective electrochemical recognition of tyrosine ( Tyr ) enantiomers. Black phosphorus nanosheets (BP NSs) and Mal-βCD modified glassy carbon electrode (Mal-βCD/BP NSs/GCE) were prepared by a layer-to-layer drop-casting method, and the platform was easy to fabricate and facile to operate. It is proposed that the amino and hydroxyl groups of the Tyr enantiomers and the chiral hydroxyl groups of Mal-βCD selectively form intermolecular hydrogen bonds to dominate effective chiral recognition. Two linear equations of Ip (μA) = 11.40 C L-Tyr (mM) + 0.28 ( R 2 = 0.99147) and Ip (μA) = 7.96 C D-Tyr (mM) + 0.22 ( R 2 = 0.99583) in the concentration range 0.01–1.00 mM have been obtained. The limits of detection (S/N=3) for L- Tyr and D- Tyr were 4.81 and 6.89 µM, respectively. An interesting phenomenon was that the value of I L- Tyr /I D- Tyr (1.51) in this work was slightly higher than the value of I L- Trp /I D- Trp (1.49) reported in our previous study, where tryptophan ( Trp ) enantiomers were electrochemically recognized by Nafion (NF)-stabilized BPNSs-G2-β-CD composite. The two similar sensors fabricated by different methods showed different recognition ability toward either Tyr or Trp enantiomers, and the underlying mechanism was discussed in detail. More importantly, the proposed chiral sensor enables prediction of the percentages of D- Tyr in racemic Tyr mixtures. The chiral sensor may provide a novel approach for the fabrication of novel chiral platforms in the practical detection of L- or D- enantiomer in racemic Tyr mixtures. Graphical abstract

Since 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D) was discovered in the 1940s, 2,4-D and its derivatives remain among most commonly used herbicides in the world. There have been recent increases in using 2,4-D products in a combination with other herbicides such as metribuzin and acetochlor to control noxious weeds. However, accurate analysis of 2,4-D isooctyl ester remains to be improved due to long analysis time and rapid conversion of the ester to acid (i.e., under-reporting residues). In this work, a simple hydrolysis procedure was introduced to provide a quantitative hydrolytic rate of the ester (>95%) and did not affect the other pH-sensitive compounds. Analysis parameters and sample pretreatments were optimized for improved selectivity and accuracy. The hydrolysis-QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) technique for multidetermination of 2,4-D isooctyl ester, metribuzin, acetochlor, and 2-ethyl-6-methylaniline in corn and soybeans via high performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry was established. The method had average recoveries of 74–109% with relative standard deviations ≤13.5% and limits of quantifications (LOQs) of 0.05 mg/kg. The terminal residues of these compounds found in real edible matrixes were less than the corresponding LOQs at harvest time. The risk quotients were far below 100%, indicating a low health risk to consumers.

A luminescent double recognition nanoprobe is described as a new strategy for the selective determination of chiral molecules. C-dots/Ir/Au fluorescent nanoparticles, synthesised under hydrothermal conditions, are used as a high-performance probe in combination with a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) and calix[6]arene as a double recognition element. Thiolated calix[6]arene is grafted on C-dots/Ir/Au as the first recognition element, which then forms a host–guest complex with the target molecule levodopa (L-DOPA). Subsequently, an MIP is prepared on the C-dots/Ir/Au (MIP/C-dots/Ir/Au) by chemical polymerisation. After the removal of L-DOPA, double recognition imprinting cavities are formed. The fluorescence intensity at 478 nm of the nanoprobe is effectively quenched by adsorption of L-DOPA on MIP/C-dots/Ir/Au, which provides a method for L-DOPA determination. Owing to the double recognition strategy, this method has excellent selectivity which can effectively avoid interference from enantiomer D-DOPA, and a imprinting factor of 7.1 is obtained for L-DOPA. This accurate and reliable method, with a wide linear range (5 × 10 −10 to 1.2 × 10 −7 mol L −1 ) and a low limit of detection (1.45 × 10 −10 mol L −1 ), was successfully applied to the determination of L-DOPA in real samples, giving standard recoveries of 89.7–110.0%. Thus, the proposed sensing method provides a viable approach for the determination of a single enantiomer.
Schematic presentation of the MIP/C-dots/Ir/Au for L-DOPA detection. A fluorescence double chiral recognition nanoprobe is prepared of C-dots/Ir/Au nanoparticles as signal probe, and a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) and calix[6]arene as a double recognition element. Owing to the double recognition strategy, this method has strong specificity and can effectively avoid interference from enantiomers and racemates.

6-Shogaol is one component of ginger, which has been described to possess various health-promoting effects including anticancer, antiinflammatory, antioxidant and antiatherogenic. However, poor water solubility has limited the aforementioned health benefits and clinical applications of the drug. Herein, the aforementioned drawback was circumvented by the preparation of 6-shogaol-loaded liposome through thin-film dispersion method with TPGS as the carrier, in comparison with 6-shogaol liposome and free 6-shogaol. Appropriate indices were used for the characterization of the developed liposomes viz., particle size (PS), zeta potential (Z-potential), polydispersity index (PDI), entrapment efficiency (EE) and loading capacity (LC) while their morphologies were observed under the transmission electron microscopy (TEM). In-vitro dissolution investigation showed a substantial improvement in the accumulative release rates of liposomes comparable to the free 6-shogaol. The TPGS-modified 6-shogaol and 6-shogaol liposomes had oral relative bioavailability (RBA) of 580.04% and 281.55%, respectively, with improved t 1/2 , MRT, C max , AUC 0-t and T max . Pertinently, the TPGS coated 6-shogaol liposome may enhance the targeting of the drug to the brain. Therefore, the TPGS coated 6-shogaol liposome could potentially improve oral bioavailability of lipophilic drug in-vivo . More importantly, the results of tissue distribution investigation suggest that TPGS coated 6-shogaol liposome may act as promising carrier for brain delivery in future.
