Controlled synthesis and regulation of 2D nanomaterials with sufficient active sites are promising in electrochemical fluorine capture, but simultaneously achieving rapid rates and efficient activity of intercalation materials remains challengs. Herein, an integrated strategy of micro-regulation interlayer space and in situ modification of MXenes is proposed to enhance ion storage kinetics. The wedge-like microstructure of aluminum oxide/incomplete-Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene (Al 2 O 3 /i-Ti 3 C 2 T x ) is constructed by incomplete etching MAX and in situ derivation of A-layer element, in which the sub-nanoscale interlayer space is conducive to the small size ions intercalation, and the formation of “nanopump-like” effect boosted the ions diffusion. As evidenced by simulation calculations, Al 2 O 3 nanoparticles not only shorten the migration distance of electrons/hydrated ions in interlayers but also contribute a lower adsorption energy barrier, bringing excellent capture kinetics and stability. Benefiting from the interfacial conversion-intercalation pseudocapacitance, such electrode is endowed with a high defluoridation capacity (69.9 mg g −1 at 1.6V) and an outstanding instantaneous adsorption rate (9.51 mg g −1 min −1 ), and shows satisfactory stability in more than 200 cycles. The physicochemical coupling strategy opens a novel approach to optimizing the interlayer structure and in situ modification interface of MXene, which also provids a universal idea for efficient capture of varisized ions of intercalation materials.

Ethanol induction typically results in the contraction of the polysaccharide molecular chain and a decrease in viscosity. However, this study reveals an unexpected dual behavior in psyllium seed husk polysaccharides (PSHPs). The viscosity of the cold ethanol-water extracted polysaccharide (CEP, containing 9.42 % rhamnose and 7.40 % galacturonic acid) increased by 154 % in the presence of 25 % ethanol compared to its viscosity in aqueous solution. In contrast, under identical conditions, the viscosity of the hot ethanol-water extracted polysaccharide (HEP, containing 1.21 % rhamnose and 1.53 % galacturonic acid) decreased by 99 %. Through multi-scale characterization, including intrinsic viscosity ([η]), radius of gyration (R g ), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and rheology, we observed that both CEP and HEP exhibited chain contraction and aggregation under ethanol-induced conditions. However, significant differences in rhamnogalacturonan-I (RG-I) content resulted in distinct degrees of contraction and aggregation behaviors. Upon increasing the ethanol concentration from 0 % to 20 %, the R g of CEP decreased by 30 %, whereas the R g of HEP exhibited a more substantial reduction, by 71 %. For CEP, ethanol substantially mitigated the steric hindrance effect of RG-I, thereby enhancing intermolecular interactions and increasing the entanglement network density. In contrast, the pronounced chain contraction of HEP disrupted the original entanglement network structure. This RG-I-dependent aggregation behavior represents a significant addition to the traditional solvent effect theory and also provides a robust theoretical foundation for the diverse applications of PSHPs.

Power conversion efficiency (PCE) and long-term stability are two vital issues for perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, there is still a lack of suitable hole transport layers (HTLs) to endow PSCs with both high efficiency and stability. Here, NiO x nanoparticles are promoted as an efficient and 85 °C/85%-stable inorganic HTL for high-performance n-i-p PSCs, with the introduction of perovskite quantum dots (QDs) between perovskite and NiO x as systematic interfacial engineering. The QD intercalation enhances film morphology and assembly regulation of NiO x HTLs . Due to structure–function correlations, hole mobility within NiO x HTL is improved. And the hole extraction from perovskite to NiO x is also facilitated, resulting from reduced trap states and optimized energy level alignments. Hence, the promoted NiO x -based n-i-p PSCs exhibit high PCE (21.59%) and excellent stability (sustaining 85 °C aging in air without encapsulation). Furthermore, encapsulated solar modules with QDs-promoted NiO x HTLs show impressive stability during 85 °C/85% aging test for 1000 hours. With high transparency, QDs-promoted NiO x is also demonstrated to be an advanced HTL for semitransparent PSCs. This work develops promising NiO x inorganic HTL in n-i-p PSCs for manufacturing next-generation photovoltaic devices.

In the era of global warming, the conversion of carbon dioxide into high-value products has become a widely scrutinized emerging mitigation strategy. Metalation of bpy-containing MOF-253 led to the synthesis of MOF-253–0.5Ag, which acts as an efficient catalyst for the carbonylative cyclization of CO2 with alkyne molecules (such as propynyl alcohols and propynyl amines) at room temperature and ambient CO2 pressure, yielding the corresponding α-alkyl cyclic carbonates and oxazolidinones, thus endowing the catalytic system with bifunctional characteristics. Additionally, the MOF-253–0.5Ag catalyst demonstrated stability, high activity, and recyclability. The mechanisms were further elucidated through experimental results and NMR analysis, demonstrating that Ag(I) can effectively activate the C≡C bonds and hydroxy/amino groups of the substrates.

Cardiac troponin I (cTnI) is a highly specific biomarker of cardiomyocyte injury, released during cell disintegration and necrosis, and is the gold standard for diagnosing acute myocardial infarction (AMI). At the onset of AMI, cTnI appears in very low concentrations (pg/mL level), necessitating the development of highly sensitive and rapid detection sensors. In this study, an electrochemiluminescence lateral flow immunosensor (ECL-LFI) was designed using luminol-labeled silver nanoparticles (luminol@AgNPs) for the sensitive and quantitative detection of cTnI. A screen-printed electrode (SPE) was integrated beneath the nitrocellulose (NC) membrane with plastic plates of the same thickness applied on both sides of the SPE to ensure a smooth flow surface. Upon addition of cTnI and the luminol-H 2 O 2 system, sandwich immune complexes formed by antibody-functionalized luminol@AgNPs on the strips generated electrochemiluminescent (ECL) signals. The ECL-LFI exhibited a broad linear detection range from 5 pg/mL to 100 ng/mL, with a detection limit as low as 1.6 pg/mL. Additionally, the results show excellent correlation with clinical tests, demonstrating that the ECL-LFI provides a promising point-of-care tool for the early diagnosis of AMI and other diseases.

A flower-like Au/Cu alloy nanocomposite (Au/Cu NFs) was synthesized and used in an electrochemiluminescence (ECL) based method for sensitive determination of the dye Sudan I. The Au-g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets as an ECL emitter were prepared by electrostatic adsorption between gold nanoparticles and g-C 3 N 4 . They form a film on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and then can be connected with Sudan I antigen via gold-nitrogen bond and amidation reactions. The Au/Cu NFs combined with Sudan I antibody also via the Au-N bond and was introduced into the modified GCE by specific recognition between the antibody and the antigen. The overlap between emission spectra of the Au-g-C 3 N 4 nanosheets and absorption spectra of Au/Cu NFs enabled the appearance of ECL resonance energy transfer process. That is, when the Sudan I analyte not present, the ECL was weakened due to absorption by the gray Au/Cu NFs on applying voltages from −1.7 V to 0 V. Conversely, the Au/Cu NFs on the GCE are reduced due to the competition for the antibody between the analyte and the antigen. A strong green ECL emission was obtained. The ECL response is linear in the 0.5 pg mL −1 to 100 ng mL −1 Sudan I concentration range, and the detection limit is 0.17 pg mL −1 .
An Au/Cu alloy flower-like nanocomposite (Au/Cu NFs) is firstly synthesized as an acceptor to constitute an electrochemiluminescence-resonance energy transfer (ECL-RET) system for sensitive measurement of Sudan I, while Au nanoparticles (Au NPs) functionalized graphitic carbon nitride (g-C 3 N 4 ) acted as a donor.

The phosphorylated noncollagenous proteins (NCPs) play a vital role in manipulating biomineralization, while the mechanism of phosphorylation of NCPs in intrafibrillar mineralization of collagen fibril has not been completely deciphered. Poly(vinylphosphonic acid) (PVPA) and sodium trimetaphosphate (STMP) as templating analogs of NCPs induce hierarchical mineralization in cooperation with indispensable sequestration analogs such as polyacrylic acid (PAA) via polymer-induced liquid-like precursor (PILP) process. Herein, STMP-Ca and PVPA-Ca complexes are proposed to achieve rapid intrafibrillar mineralization through polyelectrolyte-Ca complexes pre-precursor (PCCP) process. This strategy is further verified effectively for remineralization of demineralized dentin matrix both in vitro and in vivo. Although STMP micromolecule fails to stabilize amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP) precursor, STMP-Ca complexes facilely permeate into intrafibrillar interstices and trigger phase transition of ACP to hydroxyapatite within collagen. In contrast, PVPA-stabilized ACP precursors lack liquid-like characteristic and crystallize outside collagen due to rigid conformation of PVPA macromolecule, while PVPA-Ca complexes infiltrate into partial intrafibrillar intervals under electrostatic attraction and osmotic pressure as evidenced by intuitionistic 3D stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy (3D-STORM). The study not only extends the variety and size range of polyelectrolyte for PCCP process but also sheds light on the role of phosphorylation for NCPs in biomineralization.

Tin dioxide (SnO2) has emerged as a highly promising candidate for electron transport layers in perovskite solar cells. However, defects in the SnO2 film and at the interface between SnO2 and perovskite often cause serious nonradiative recombination, resulting in the deterioration of the performance of perovskite solar cells. Herein, a synergistic passivation strategy is employed through the introduction of amphiphilic fluorosurfactants (FS-31) into the SnO2 precursor solution, enabling the passivation of defects present both in the SnO2 film and at the interface between SnO2 and perovskite. Moreover, FS-31 is capable of modulating the energy level of the SnO2 film and enhancing the crystalline quality of the wide-band-gap perovskite, thereby minimizing residual lead iodide. Thanks to the positive effects of FS-31, the n–i–p type wide-band-gap perovskite (1.68 eV) solar cells achieve a champion power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 20.92%, an open circuit voltage (VOC) of 1.24 V, and a minimal VOC deficit of 0.44 V. Furthermore, this simple strategy provides strong support for the preparation of high-efficiency n–i–p perovskite/silicon tandem solar cells.

With the development of exonuclease, the exonuclease has been used to construct a variety of aptasensor and to realize the signal amplification. Among them, based on silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) and exonuclease I (Exo I)-assisted cycle signal amplification strategy, we designed a novel high-sensitivity dual-target electrochemical biosensor to detect Pb 2+ or Hg 2+ in water. In the presence of Hg 2+ , the Hg 2+ was fixed to the aptamer chain by thymine-Hg 2+ -thymine (T-Hg 2+ -T), resulting in the decrease of signal. When Pb 2+ was present, DNA single strand S2 dissociated and was bound to Pb 2+ , which automatically triggered Exo I to selectively cut the single chain from the recognition site to achieve the cyclic amplification of the electrochemical signal. The interaction between aptamer and Exo I was investigated by gel electrophoresis. Under the optimum conditions in the scan range -0.20 to 0.60 V, the biosensor had high sensitivity with a linear range of 100 pg/L to 10.0 mg/L, Pb 2+ or Hg 2+ , and the detection limits were 17.0 pg/L ( R 2 = 0.993) and 12.0 pg/L ( R 2 = 0.993), respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) of the sensor was 0.5–2.6%, and the recovery of spiked standard solutions was between 98.3 and 110%. The cycle amplification strategy supported by this enzyme has promising applications in detection of the two metal ions in various fields. Graphical Abstract

A new polypyridyl ligand containing a nitro group and two new ruthenium complexes of it were synthesized. The two complexes exhibited non-dppz DNA ‘light switch’ effects after interaction with calf thymus DNA. Introducing both electron-withdrawing group (─ NO 2 ) and electron-donating group (─ CH 3 ) may be the reason that the two complexes display DNA ‘light switch’ behaviors. Furthermore, one of the complexes showed higher photocleavage activity, topoisomerase I inhibition activity and DNA affinity than the other. The present work shows that the more active complex can be employed as a non-dppz DNA ‘light switch’, DNA photocleaver and topoisomerase I inhibitor. In addition, the two complexes have no or weak cytotoxic activities against Eca-109 and A549 cells.

Cu/BC-PAA (Peroxyacetic acid) system was established in this study to remove sulfamethoxazole (SMX) from waters. Cu/BC-PAA achieved high elimination efficiency (91.2 %, k = 0.081 min −1 ) for SMX within 30 min. Cu (II) loaded on corn straw biochar was converted into form Cu (I) site. Characterization, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), and electrochemical analysis proved that Cu (I) and C O took part in the reaction, which accelerated electron transfer and produced free radicals and non-radicals (R-O· and singlet oxygen ( 1 O 2 )). Fukui index and Liquid Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer (LC–MS) analysis revealed that sulphonamide bond cleavage and isoxazole ring opening were the main detoxification pathway. Density functional theory (DFT) calculation exhibited the adsorption energy of Cu/BC (E ads = −3.68 eV) enhanced the electron transfer between Cu (I) and PAA. The evaluation of anion effects, diverse water matrices, various sulfonamide antibiotics, and catalyst cycling tests demonstrated the Cu/BC-PAA system's exceptional stability, broad-spectrum applicability, and excellent reusability. This work successfully synthesized a stable environment-friendly catalyst for efficient activating PAA to eliminate antibiotics in waters.

Cesium-based all-inorganic lead-halide perovskites CsPbX3 (X = I, Br, Cl) have emerged as highly promising optoelectronic materials with a wide bandgap, which are commonly utilized in tandem solar cells. However, the I–Br hybrid CsPbI3–xBrx perovskites still face stability issues such as halide segregation-induced phase transition and decomposition under ultraviolet or high-temperature conditions. We synthesize a series of single crystals DMAPbI3–xBrx (x = 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.3, 0.6), featuring an I–Br ordered distribution. By introducing the crystal intermediate into the perovskite precursor, we successfully obtained high-quality CsPbI3–xBrx thin films, exhibiting high stabilities and low trap state density. The formation kinetics of the high-quality perovskite thin films are in situ studied and the possible reaction mechanisms are proposed. Benefiting from this approach, the solar cells have an improved photoelectric conversion efficiency and significantly enhanced thermal stability. This method is proven to be feasible and innovatively offers a new strategy for the continuous development of mixed-halide perovskite solar cells.
