c
about 40 K provides a good platform for investigating the magnetization and electrical transport properties of FeSe-based superconductors. By using a hydrothermal ion-exchange method, we have successfully grown crystals of (Li 1- x

c
=38.3 K. Using the magnetization hysteresis loops and Bean critical state model, a large critical current J

is observed in low temperature region. The critical current density is suppressed exponentially with increasing magnetic field. Temperature dependencies of resistivity under various currents and fields are measured, revealing a robust superconducting current density and bulk superconductivity.

Over the past 20 years, the iron-activated persulfate systems have been widely used for removing pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs) from water. However, slow Fe(III)/Fe(II) redox cycling and precipitation of iron, unless in very acidic conditions, were the main limitations. Thus, two ligand-assisted Fe(III)/persulfate systems, Fe(III)-acetohydroxamic acid (AHA)/peroxydisulfate (PDS) and Fe(III)-nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA)/peroxymonosulfate (PMS), were comparatively investigated for the degradation of atenolol (ATL) in this study. The experimental results showed that the Fe(III)-NTA/PMS system worked much better than the AHA system. However, the cost of PMS is higher than that of PDS, which should be considered. The primary advantage of the NTA system was its ability to overcome the pH limitations. It worked well over a wide pH range (3.0–10.0), whereas the AHA system could only be used in a narrower pH window (pH 2.4 to 6.5). The investigation of radicals that contributed to ATL degradation revealed that sulfate radicals (SO4•−) were dominant in the NTA system, while hydroxyl radicals (•OH) and SO4•−were the primary and secondary radicals in the AHA system. These results provided useful insight into the comparative behavior of two ligand-assisted Fe(III)/persulfate systems for ATL degradation, with the Fe(III)-NTA/PMS system showing clear potential under neutral or near-neutral conditions, while Fe(III)-AHA/PDS may still represent a lower-cost option under acidic conditions.

Fe@PBC was synthesized via facile pyrolysis and in-situ reduction using pig manure as low-cost biomass precursor. • Fe@PBC exhibits ultrahigh U(VI) adsorption capacity of 623.7 mg/g and fast equilibrium within 60 min. • Excellent anti-interference ability is achieved with removal efficiency >93% under coexisting cation interference. • U(VI) immobilization is dominated by Fe-mediated reduction coupled with O/N functional group complexation. • Surface chemical properties outweigh physical structure in governing U(VI) adsorption performance. The oxidized pig manure biochar doped with reduced iron species (Fe@PBC) was fabricated through facile pyrolysis and in-situ reduction to overcome the drawbacks of conventional carbon-based adsorbents for U(VI) adsorption, including agglomeration, insufficient active sites, weak reducibility and poor anti-interference capacity. An ultra-high adsorption capacity of 623.7 mg/g, fast adsorption equilibrium within 60 min and excellent selectivity toward U(VI) even under interference of coexisting cations were achieved by Fe@PBC. The high removal efficiencies were maintained in tap water and surface water and the stable adsorption performance was retained for at least 6 cycles. Notably, although the coconut shell-derived biochars exhibited significantly higher specific surface areas and more developed mesopores, they showed markedly inferior U(VI) uptake relative to the pig manure-derived counterparts, confirming that surface chemical functionalities, rather than physical pore structures, governed the adsorption process. Besides, the U(VI) immobilization mechanism was attributed to surface complexation by oxygen- and nitrogen-containing functional groups, with the possible participation of iron oxides and iron (oxy)hydroxides in the adsorption process. The column experiments further demonstrated that the breakthrough curves were well described by the Thomas and Yoon-Nelson models, with the breakthrough time being prolonged at lower flow rates, higher adsorbent dosages, and lower influent U(VI) concentrations, confirming the practical applicability of Fe@PBC for continuous wastewater treatment. The low-cost and eco-friendly adsorbent derived from agricultural waste was demonstrated to hold promising potential for efficient remediation of U(VI)-contaminated wastewater. The development of highly efficient catalysts is important for the photothermal catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Herein, MIL-100(Fe) was used as the sacrificial template to prepare MnFeOxcatalysts with different Mn contents through the impregnation–calcination method, and their performance in photothermal catalytic oxidation of toluene was investigated. The results show that the content of Mn significantly affects the crystal phase structure, pore properties, surface chemical state, and optical response of the catalyst. Among them, 30%MnFeOxexhibits the best photothermal catalytic activity, with T50and T90being 211 and 237 °C, respectively, which are significantly lower than those of FeOx(232 and 260 °C). Characterization results suggested that the introduction of Mn caused the bandgap of FeOxto decrease from 1.96 to 1.67 eV. Meanwhile, the surface Fe2+, adsorbed oxygen (Oads) species, and oxygen vacancies were increased, enhancing visible light absorption and gaseous oxygen species adsorption and activation, which promoted the photothermal catalytic oxidation of toluene. Additionally, the 30%MnFeOxcatalyst presented good thermal stability and water resistance. Furthermore, during the reaction process, the in situ activation of the catalyst’s surface induced the increase in surface Fe2+, Mn3+,and Oadsspecies, which enhances the photothermal catalytic activity of the catalyst. Importantly, the in situ DRIFTS results further indicate that toluene is mainly oxidized along the path of toluene → benzyl alcohol → benzoate → maleic anhydride → CO2and H2O. This work provides a theoretical basis for the construction of low-cost, non-precious-metal Mn–Fe-based photothermal catalysts.

Lanthanum oxide (La2O3) possesses superior reactivity during catalytic hydrogenation, but the intrinsic activity of La2O3 toward H2 adsorption and activation remains unclear. In the present work, we fundamentally investigated hydrogen interaction with Ni-modified La2O3. Hydrogen temperature programmed desorption (H2-TPD) on Ni/La2O3 shows enhanced hydrogen adsorption with a new hydrogen desorption peak at a higher temperature position compared to that on the metallic Ni surfaces. By systematically exploring the desorption experiments, the enhanced H2 adsorption on Ni/La2O3 is due to the oxygen vacancies formed at the metal–oxide interfaces. Hydrogen atoms transfer from Ni surfaces to the oxygen vacancies to form lanthanum oxyhydride species (H–La–O) at the metal–oxide interfaces. The adsorbed hydrogen at the metal–oxide interfaces of Ni/La2O3 results in improved catalytic reactivity in CO2 methanation. Furthermore, the enhanced hydrogen adsorption on the interfacial oxygen vacancies is ubiquitous for La2O3-supported Fe, Co, and Ni nanoparticles. Benefiting from the modification effect of the supported transition metal nanoparticles, the surface oxyhydride species can be formed on La2O3 surfaces, which resembles the recently reported oxyhydride observed on the reducible CeO2 surfaces with abundant surface oxygen vacancies. These findings strengthen our understanding of the surface chemistry of La2O3 and shed new light on the design of highly efficient La2O3-based catalysts with metal–oxide interfaces.

Cu3P is a potential anode material for lithium-ion batteries with its comparable gravimetric capacity, but several times higher volumetric capacity (4732 mA h cm−3) than graphite. However, the cycling stability of Cu3P is poor at low discharge potentials and high current densities. In this work, Fe addition is employed as a simple strategy to modulate the composition and phase constitution of Cu3P nanopowders synthesized by wet mechanical alloying, and thereby to tune the electrochemical performance of the anode. The addition of Fe results in a composite constitute containing Cu3P as the major phase and some other minor phases including Cu, α-Fe and FeP, which are combinationally determined by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and Mössbauer spectroscopy. Electrochemical tests reveal that both the cycling stability and the rate capability of the electrodes are improved by Fe addition. The Cu3P electrode with 10% Fe addition shows the best cell performance, with the capacity being remarkably improved by over 100%, from 82 mA h g−1 to 178 mA h g−1 after 50 cycles at 0.75C between 2.0 V and 0.5 V vs. Li/Li+. The improvement of the electrochemical performance is engendered by a synergetic effect of the microstructure change of the powders and the presence of Fe-related minor phases, leading to increased electronic conductivity as well as enhanced electrochemical reversibility of the electrode.

Utilizing bimetallic synergy presents a promising approach for creating exceptionally effective catalysts for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation. In this study, a Co Fe bimetallic catalyst (Co8Fe1-P1-NC) was constructed by regulating the Co/Fe doping ratio and further introducing phosphorus doping. During PMS activation for phenol (Ph) degradation, Co8Fe1-P1-NC exhibited outstanding catalytic performance. Under the optimized conditions, the Co8Fe1-P1-NC/PMS system achieved complete removal of Ph within 2.5 min, with an apparent rate constant as high as 2.058 min −1 and a total organic carbon (TOC) removal efficiency of up to 80%. Combined results from quenching experiments, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), in situ Raman spectroscopy, electrochemical measurements, and premixing tests demonstrated that O 2 •− , 1 O 2 , high-valent metal species, and electron-transfer pathways collectively contributed to Ph degradation. Theoretical calculations indicate that Fe and P doping make the PMS adsorption energy more negative and elongate the O O bond (l O–O ), thereby facilitating PMS activation on the catalyst. Co8Fe1-P1-NC also showed excellent broad-spectrum degradation capability toward various phenolic pollutants, achieving complete removal within 3 min. These findings indicate that the combined regulation of metal active sites and electronic structure through bimetallic synergy and nonmetal doping can significantly enhance PMS activation efficiency, providing a new avenue for the design of high-performance catalysts.

In this research, FeCo 2 O 4 nanomaterial was successfully synthesized by a typical sol–gel method and conducted as an effective agent for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation to eliminate antibiotics flurbiprofen (FLU), a strong nonsteroidal drug. FeCo 2 O 4 nanomaterial was characterized by XRD, TEM, SEM, and XPS. Various characterization results proved that FeCo 2 O 4 held stable spinel structure. The interfering factors including initial pH, PMS concentration, catalyst dosage, inorganic anions, and humic acid on FLU removal were also discussed. The conclusion was that the removal efficiency of FLU reached 98.2% within 120 min after adding FeCo 2 O 4 (0.4 g L −1 ) and PMS (3 mM). The optimal pH for FLU degradation was the initial pH of 6.5; too acidic or alkaline was not conductive to the degradation. The existence of HA and Cl − restrained the degradation of FLU, and HCO 3 − promoted the removal, while the influence of NO 3 − and SO 4 2− could not be considered. The radical scavenging experiment confirmed that • OH, O 2 •− , and SO 4 •− participated in FLU removal and SO 4 •− functioned a leading role. FeCo 2 O 4 showed high efficiency for PMS activation in pH range of 3.0 to 10.0. After the fourth cycle operation, the FLU removal rate exceeded 76.9%, and the Co leaching rate was low during the catalytic reaction. This study shows that FeCo 2 O 4 nanomaterial is an efficient and environment-friendly catalyst, which can be applied for PMS activation to remove organic pollutants in water.

2-Hydroxytetrahydrofuran (HTHF) is the main by-product of hydrogenation of 1,4-butynediol (BYD) to 1,4-butanediol (BDO) in industry, which is difficult to be effectively removed in the subsequent distillation process and seriously affects the product quality. Here, a series of silica-supported bimetallic Ni–Fe catalysts with different Fe/Ni weight ratios were prepared by using incipient wetness impregnation method and investigated the effect of Fe on the catalyst performance in the hydrogenation of HTHF to BDO. In comparison with monometallic Ni and Fe catalysts, bimetallic Ni–Fe catalysts exhibited better performance for HTHF hydrogenation due to the formation of Ni–Fe alloy phase identified by XRD, TEM, STEM-EDS, H 2 -TPR, NH 3 /H 2 -TPD, Pyridine FTIR and XPS, etc. A mechanism is proposed to explain the promoting effect of Fe, which can be assigned to the synergism between nickel sites with high ability to activate/overflow hydrogen and Fe-containing sites with strong oxophilicity for the activation of the O-C-O bond over the tetrahydrofuran ring. Developing cost-effective and high-efficiency catalysts for electrocatalytic oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is crucial for energy conversions. Herein, a series of bimetallic NiFe metal–organic frameworks (NiFe-BDC) were prepared by a simple solvothermal method for alkaline OER. The synergistic effect between Ni and Fe as well as the large specific surface area lead to a high exposure of Ni active sites during the OER. The optimized NiFe-BDC-0.5 exhibits superior OER performances with a small overpotential of 256 mV at a current density of 10 mA cm−2and a low Tafel slope of 45.4 mV dec−1, which outperforms commercial RuO2and most of the reported MOF-based catalysts reported in the literature. This work provides a new insight into the design of bimetallic MOFs in the applications of electrolysis. Keywords:metal–organic frameworks;NiFe-BDC;electrocatalytic oxygen evolution;synergistic effect

Introduction: Photodynamic therapy (PDT) and photothermal therapy (PTT) are widely used in the treatment of tumors. However, their application in the treatment of clinical tumors is limited by the complexity and irreversible hypoxia environment generated by tumor tissues. To overcome this limitation, a nanoparticle composed of indocyanine green (ICG) and Fe-MOF-5 was developed. Methods: We prepared F-I@FM5 and measured its morphology, particle size, and stability. Its enzyme like ability and optical effect was verified. Then we used MTT, staining and flow cytometry to evaluated the anti-tumor effect on EMT-6 cells in vitro. Finally, the anti-tumor effect in vivo has been studied on EMT-6 tumor bearing mice. Results: For the composite nanoparticle, we confirmed that Fe-MOF-5 has the best nanozyme activity. In addition, it has excellent photothermal conversion efficiency and generates reactive oxygen species (ROS) under near-infrared light irradiation (808 nm). The composite nanoparticle showed good tumor inhibition effect in vitro and in vivo, which was superior to the free ICG or Fe-MOF-5 alone. Besides, there was no obvious cytotoxicity in major organs within the effective therapeutic concentration.Discussion: Fe-MOF-5 has the function of simulating catalase, which can promote the decomposition of excessive H2O2 in the tumor microenvironment and produce oxygen to improve the hypoxic environment. The improvement of tumor hypoxia can enhance the efficacy of PDT and PTT. This research not only provides an efficient and stable anti-tumor nano platform, but also has broad application prospects in the field of tumor therapy, and provides a new idea for the application of MOF as an important carrier material in the field of photodynamic therapy.

The composite material based on N- , S- , and Fe-doped TiO 2 (NSFe-TiO 2 ) synthesized by wet impregnation was used as a photocatalyst to rapidly degrade sulfadiazine. The photocatalytic degradation behavior and mechanism of sulfadiazine on NSFe-TiO 2 were investigated for revealing the role of degradation under ultraviolet light. The results showed that compared with TiO 2 , NSFe-TiO 2 markedly improved the efficiency in photocatalytic degradation of sulfadiazine: more than 90% of sulfadiazine could be removed within 120 min by NSFe-TiO 2 dosage of 20 mg L −1 . The process conformed to first-order reaction kinetics model. The parameters such as loaded amount of NSFe-TiO 2 , solution pH value, humic acid concentration and recycle numbers on removal efficiency were also studied. Compared to neutral and alkaline conditions, acidic condition was not conducive to the photocatalysis. HA, Ca 2+ , Cu 2+ and Zn 2+ in the actual water body had mild inhibition on sulfadiazine degradation in UV/NSFe-TiO 2 system. Fragments screened by high-resolution mass spectrometry were conducted to explore the oxidation mechanism and pathways of sulfadiazine degradation. On the whole, UV/NSFe-TiO 2 photocatalysis has a good effect on sulfadiazine removal.
