Transition metal (TM)-catalyzed direct C–H amination on free and fused pyridines is challenging, while it is much easier for their N-oxide derivatives. Unfortunately, most TM-catalysis is commonly used for nondeoxyamination and often limited to specific N-oxide and amine substrates. We herein disclose a combination of a copper(I) catalyst and dppf for deoxygenated oxidative C–N coupling of azine N-oxides to realize facile aminations on their parent azines, wherein dppf plays a crucial role in the deoxygenation step in the catalytic cycle. Moreover, this protocol tolerates a wider variety of N-oxides and free alicyclic amines to promise broader application potential.

In the development of clinically translatable triplet photosensitizers for hypoxia regulated photodynamic therapy (PDT), there is an unmet need for engineering sensitizers as near-infrared (NIR)-responsive, type I/type Ⅱ dual photosensitizers and mild photothermal agents. Herein, we develop a binary precursor-engineering strategy for precise regulation of the D-π-A configuration of carbon dots (CDs) as ultralong-lived triplet, type I/Ⅱ dual photosensitizers by utilizing phenolic hydroxyl as an electron-rich donor and pyridine N as an electron-withdrawing acceptor. The photodynamic performance of CDs is enhanced by intramolecular charge transfer and mild photothermal conversion. We further design M1-like macrophage-derived cell membrane‑camouflaged CDs to realize preferential tumor accumulation while guaranteeing rapid systemic clearance. D-π-A sensitized CD-mediated PDT induces anti-tumor activity against primary and distant tumors. Our work highlights the crucial roles of D-π-A sensitization of CDs in boosting PDT by triplet state tuning, surface charge transfer, and mild photothermal relief of hypoxia.

A superparamagnetic Fe 3 O 4 @Zn-AST nanocomposite was constructed. • The Fe 3 O 4 @Zn-AST had abundant N, S-containing functional groups. • The Fe 3 O 4 @Zn-AST exhibits a saturation magnetization of 61.29 emu/g. • The maximum adsorption capacity of Fe 3 O 4 @Zn-AST for Ag(I) was 1410.68 mg/g. Silver as a precious metal, is extensively utilized in jewelry, electronics and some other fields due to its excellent conductivity and ductility. With the growing demand for silver, excessive exploitation of silver ore resources has generated large volumes of Ag(I)-containing wastewater. The direct release of untreated Ag(I)-containing wastewater contaminates ecosystems and poses risks to human health. Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) exhibit a notably specific surface area, ample unsaturated metal sites, ease of functionalization, and tunable pore size and structure, which make them highly promising materials for effective adsorption of pollutants from wastewater. However, pure MOFs are typically in powder form, which are not easy to separate and recover after adsorption. In this work, using the zinc nitrate hexahydrate as the metal precursor along with 2-amino-5-sulfanyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole (AST) as the multi-dentate organic ligand, a superparamagnetic Fe 3 O 4 @Zn-AST nanocomposite was prepared via in-situ solvothermal method. The Fe 3 O 4 @Zn-AST exhibits a saturation magnetization of 61.29 emu/g, meeting the requirements for magnetic separation. The maximum Ag(I) adsorption capacity of Fe 3 O 4 @Zn-AST is 1410.68 mg/g, and adsorption process is mainly chemical adsorption, featured by endothermic, disordered, and spontaneous. Adsorption-desorption experiments prove that the removal efficiency can remain above 91% even after five cycles. From FT-IR and XPS, the Fe 3 O 4 @Zn-AST adsorbing Ag(I) was mainly through the synergistic effect of -SH, N-containing functional groups and electrostatic interactions. Given the magnetic separation advantage and superior Ag(I) adsorption, Fe 3 O 4 @Zn-AST could serve as a promising adsorbent. Cardiac troponin I (cTnI) detection plays a critical role in the early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). In this study, a sandwich-type electrochemical immunosensor was developed for ultrasensitive quantification of cardiac troponin I (cTnI). The sensor platform utilized silver nanoclusters (AgNCs) incorporated with β -cyclodextrin functionalized 3D porous graphene ( β -CD@3DG-AgNCs) to enhance electrical conductivity and primary antibody (Ab 1 ) immobilization. For signal amplification, ferrocenecarboxylic acid combined with β -CD@3DG ( β -CD@3DG-Fc-COOH) was employed as the signal probe, which demonstrated excellent secondary antibody (Ab 2 ) capture capability. The synthesized nanomaterials were characterized using SEM, TEM, FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Thermo-Gravimetric Analysis (TGA). The electrochemical performance of the surface-modified electrodes was systematically investigated through cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Under optimized conditions, differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) revealed that the developed sensor exhibited an extensive linear response range (100 fg mL −1 –100 ng mL −1 ) for cTnI quantification, with an exceptionally low detection limit of 45.5 fg mL −1 . The recovery rate ranging from 97.39% to 102.83% was achieved in human serum analysis, suggesting the potential applicability of this immunosensor for clinical diagnosis.

Lead-free double-perovskite Cs 2 SnX 6 (X = Cl, Br, I) containing Sn 4+ is a more stable lead-free photovoltaic material than its homologue CsSnX 3 . However, its stability in air still affects its application. In this Letter, lead-free inorganic Cs 2 SnX 6 (X = Cl, Br, I) nanocrystals (NCs) were synthesized by a hot injection method and in-situ loaded into mesoporous SiO 2 . With the change of halogen content, the PL emission peak of pristine Cs 2 SnX 6 NCs were tuned from 430 nm to 780 nm covering the visible and near infrared spectrum region. Taking Cs 2 SnI 6 /SiO 2 NCs as an example, the optical property stability in solution is obviously improved, and it can be stored in air for over 2 h. Especially, the more stable NIR emission, non-toxicity and easy hydrolysis characteristics of Cs 2 SnX 6 /SiO 2 composite nanoparticles will have potential medical applications like photothermal and photodynamic therapies for cancers.

Chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is a major global health problem. Currently, existing antiviral drugs are difficult to achieve a functional cure for chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Therefore, it is necessary to develop new antiviral targets, especially those that can directly target HBV covalently closed circular DNA (cccDNA) in hepatocytes. Here, we identified a conserved SOX6 binding site in the enhancer I (ENI) region of the HBV genome, and found that SOX6 promotes the replication of multiple genotypes HBV through its HMG domain. Mechanistically, SOX6 binds to the conserved binding site located in the HBV ENI region through its HMG domain, thereby promoting HBV replication by enhancing the transcriptional activity of ENI. Moreover, cisplatin and doxorubicin not only promote HBV replication but also promote SOX6 expression. Knocking down the expression of endogenous SOX6 or mutating the SOX6 binding site in the HBV ENI region significantly weakens the direct promoting effect of cisplatin and doxorubicin on HBV replication. In summary, SOX6 promotes HBV replication by enhancing the transcriptional activity of HBV ENI through its HMG domain, suggesting that it can serve as a potential target for regulating HBV cccDNA transcription. In addition, SOX6 participates in the direct promotion of HBV replication by cisplatin and doxorubicin, providing new insights into the molecular mechanisms of tumor chemotherapy related HBV reactivation (HBVr) and potential targets for the prevention of HBVr during tumor chemotherapy.

Graphical Two novel star-shaped fluorophores named PDI−S and PDI−Se are constructed by S/Se-fused perylene diimides (PDIs) connected with bicarbazole core. Particularly, PDI−S presents excellent two-photon absorption cross-action (δ TPA ) of 3775 GM excited with 800 nm light, which is the highest value based on PDIs motif in the NIR−I region (700–900 nm). Two-photon absorption (TPA) has attracted growing attention over recent years owing to the wide range of applications in organic nonlinear optical (NLO) materials. The quantitative sensitivity of a two-photon molecular entity is determined by its TPA cross-section (δ TPA ). Perylene diimides (PDIs) are excellent n-type organic semiconductor materials demonstrating distinguished thermal, optical, and chemical stability. Nonetheless, PDIs-based scaffolds exhibit poor δ TPA in the NIR−I region (700–900 nm) due to the lack of suitable molecular design. Here, two novel star-shaped PDIs fluorophores, namely PDI−S and PDI−Se, were constructed by four periphery S/Se-fused PDIs connected with bicarbazole core. PDI−S manifested excellent δ TPA of 3775 GM, which are among the highest values reported for PDIs excited in the NIR−I region.

This paper focuses on the preparation, structural characterization, and property investigation of the copper(I) complex [Cu(dppe)(phon)]I based on 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane. The target complex was synthesized via a solution method, using 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane, cuprous iodide, and 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione as raw materials and acetonitrile as the solvent. It was then characterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV–Vis), and fluorescence spectroscopy. Methylene blue was used to simulate dyeing wastewater, and the single-factor method was employed to study the effects of the initial concentration of methylene blue, illumination time, complex dosage, and temperature on the- efficiency. The results indicated that the optimal photocatalytic degradation performance was achieved at a relatively low initial concentration of methylene blue, an appropriate complex dosage (25 mg), and a temperature of 40°C. Additionally, the copper(I) complex was utilized as a phosphorescent probe for the detection of tetracycline hydrochloride, doxycycline hydrochloride, and chlortetracycline hydrochloride. It was found that the addition of tetracycline antibiotics led to a decrease in the fluorescence intensity of the complex, and the higher the concentration of the antibiotics, the stronger the quenching effect. The detection limit of the phosphorescent probe for tetracycline hydrochloride antibiotics was 3.0 × 10 –9 mol/L. This study provides a theoretical basis and practical reference for the application of copper(I) complexes in photocatalytic degradation and tetracycline detection.

Developing organic type I photosensitizers (PSs) that generate less oxygen-dependent reactive oxygen species (ROS) has long been recognized to be an appealing yet significantly challenging task in the field of photodynamic therapy (PDT), owing to the high oxygen dependency of conventional PDT, which impairs its overall therapeutic efficacy, particularly in hypoxic solid tumors. Herein, a molecular fluorination strategy to finely regulate PSs with bright near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence and superior type I ROS generation ability was exploited. Benefited from the improved donor-acceptor interaction, promoted intersystem crossing process, and increased spin-orbit coupling (SOC) constant, the optimal TIBT-5F simultaneously exhibits broad absorption with a larger molar extinction coefficient in the visible-light region, bright NIR fluorescence emission and stronger type I ROS generation efficiency, making TIBT-5F a promising candidate for precise NIR fluorescence-guided PDT. The as-prepared TIBT-5F nanoparticles (NPs) can quickly accumulate in the tumor site, effectively produce both type II and type I ROS and prominently suppress the tumor growth under a safe white light irradiation (40 mW/cm 2 ) with minimized systemic toxicity. This study thus offers a new insight into constructing advanced type I PSs for precise fluorescence imaging-guided tumor theranostics.

Semiconductor quantum dots (QDs) are attractive building blocks for photocatalytic hydrogen evolution because their optical and electronic properties can be tailored through nanoscale structural design. However, in many QD-based hybrid systems, limited interfacial coupling between the QDs and cocatalyst hinders charge transfer and obscures the relationship between the interfacial structure and function. Herein, we report a Ni-modified giant reverse type-I CdS/CdSe core/shell QD system prepared by photodeposition, in which the Ni loading can be quantitatively tuned from 1 to 7 atoms per QD. Structural and spectroscopic characterizations indicate that the deposited Ni species are intimately associated with the CdS/CdSe QDs, while the giant core/shell architecture is retained. This interfacial modification leads to systematic changes in charge-carrier behavior, as evidenced by photoluminescence, photocurrent, electrochemical impedance, transient photovoltage, and transient absorption measurements. Among the series, CdS/CdSe-Ni4 exhibits the most efficient visible-light-driven hydrogen evolution, with a rate of 4492 μmol g–1 h–1 and a turnover frequency of 2.6 s–1 per Ni site. The results show that the regulation of the QD/Ni interface plays an important role in promoting electron extraction and interfacial charge transfer. This study provides a useful model for understanding how surface metal-site modification influences the photophysical and photocatalytic properties of colloidal semiconductor core/shell nanostructures.

The existing defects on the surface of CsPbX3 nanocrystals (NCs) resulted in the decrease of the photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) of NCs. In this study, we developed a simple strategy, which can make the treated CsPbX3 NCs exhibit high PLQYs and better stability by CdX2 post-treatment at room temperature. The treated CsPbX3 NCs were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and PL spectra. The shape, size, and crystal structure of the NCs remained unchanged after Cd ion treatment. The PLQYs of CsPbCl3 increased from 24 to 73% and the PLQYs of CsPbBr3 NCs increased from 85 to 92% after treatment. The significant enhancement of PLQYs is ascribed to the effective passivation of surface defects, in which Cd2+ and X– ions occupied the Pb–X vacancies existing on the surface of the NCs. In addition, this strategy was also applied to a mixed halide perovskite. The practical application of CsPbX3 NCs will be extended by this method.

The thiosulfate method is a cyanide-free hydrometallurgical method for gold extraction, but the existence of copper ion in Cu 2+ –NH 3 –S 2 O 3 2− system is not conducive to the subsequent gold(I) recovery. This paper describes a process for improving the gold(I) adsorption capacity of mercapto-functionalized silica gel (MP-SG) by using ethylenediamine (en) as an additive to mask copper(II). The effects of en/Cu 2+ molar ratio, contact time, and pH on adsorption were investigated. The results showed that the addition of en increased the adsorption capacity of MP-SG to gold by more than 70%. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) confirmed that the valence states of gold and copper on the adsorbent were both + 1, which confirmed the occurrence of competitive copper(II) adsorption. This could be inhibited by the addition of en without affecting the interfacial properties of MP-SG. UV–vis spectroscopy and the distribution of copper species revealed that addition of en changed the composition of the solution, forming a more stable Cu(en) 2 2+ complex, the fraction of Cu(en) 2 2+ increased with en content, thus reducing the competitive adsorption of Cu(II) to gold (I). The recovery rate of gold in the actual thiosulfate leaching solution was up to 92.35%, and en has almost no influence on the recycling process of the recovered leaching liquor, which proves the feasibility of this method in practical application.
