Studies indicated that some active flavonoids combined with acarbose could reduce the side effects of acarbose and enhance its efficacy. Isorhamnetin-3-O-rutinoside (IOR) is a flavonoid found in many edible herbs. In this work, the synergistic effects of IOR and acarbose on α -amylase/α-glucosidase (PA/AG) were evaluated using ZIP score analysis. In the presence of IOR, the binding constant K b values of acarbose with PA/AG were significantly improved, indicating that IOR exhibited synergistic effect with acarbose by increasing its K b values. Furthermore, in the presence of IOR, acarbose resulted in greater changes in microenvironment and secondary structure of PA/AG. The docking analysis confirmed that IOR and acarbose bound to the different sites of PA/AG. Compared with pure enzyme, the complexes formed by IOR/acarbose with two enzymes were more stable based on dynamics simulations. This study suggested that IOR might be used as a potential synergistic inhibitor of acarbose.

Retinal neovascularization (RNV) is a potential vision-threatening process characterized by the abnormal growth of retinal vessels. Despite its clinical prevalence, the precise mechanisms governing RNV initiation and progression remain incompletely defined. Here we identify myeloid-derived growth factor (MYDGF) as a critical regulator of retinal vascular dynamics. Using single-cell RNA sequencing and human patient validation, we show that MYDGF is upregulated in retinal endothelial cells during proliferative diabetic retinopathy and mouse models of pathological neovascularization. In vitro, MYDGF promotes retinal endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and sprouting. In vivo, endothelial-specific MYDGF depletion inhibits both normal vascular development and pathological neovascularization in neonatal mice, and disrupting adult vascular homeostasis in male mice. MYDGF drives angiogenesis by activating the Akt-mTOR cascade through the Gαi1/3-Gab1 signaling complex; genetic depleting or mutation these components suppress MYDGF-induced Akt-mTOR activation and angiogenic responses. Together, MYDGF promotes retinal angiogenesis and maintains vascular homeostasis via the Gαi1/3-Gab1-Akt-mTOR signaling axis.

Ethylene (C 2 H 4 ), a natural plant hormone, accelerates the ripening and senescence of fruits and vegetables (F&V), posing significant challenges to their post-harvest preservation. Herein, we develop a C 2 H 4 scavenging nanofiber membrane by chemically modifying zein (ZN) with (3-mercaptopropyl) triethoxysilane (MPTES). This modification reduces the hydroxyl content while introducing sulfhydryl groups on zein chain. The typical membrane of ZN-MPTES3 demonstrates excellent hydrophobic property with a water contact angle (WCA) of > 140°, and can maintain structural integrity after 24 h of water immersion. Additionally, the MPTES grafting enhances the membrane's roughness. At 25 °C, the ZN-MPTES3 membrane effectively extends the shelf-life of bananas through a thiol-ene click reaction with C 2 H 4 , which is accelerated under UV exposure (365 nm), further enhancing the preservation efficacy. These results demonstrate the potential of the ZN-MPTES electrospun membrane as a sustainable and effective platform for the preservation of post-harvest F&V.

Background 3-Hydroxypropionic acid (3-HP) is a promising C3 platform chemical with wide industrial applications. However, its microbial production remains limited by insufficient intracellular malonyl-CoA availability and metabolic imbalance. Result In this study, we systematically engineered Escherichia coli for enhanced 3-HP biosynthesis. The malonate assimilation genes ( matB , smatPQM ) and 3-HP biosynthesis gene ( mcr ) were chromosomally integrated using CRISPR/Cas9, resulting in a plasmid-free, antibiotic-free strain (WYY04) that produced 21.97 mM 3-HP, 0.51-fold higher than the plasmid-based system. Further improvement was achieved by CRISPRi-mediated repression of fatty acid biosynthesis genes ( fabD , fabF ), increasing 3-HP titer by 66%. Introduction of a malonyl-CoA-responsive FapR/fapO biosensor enabled dynamic regulation of mcr expression, enhancing 3-HP production by 59%. Through all these above engineering, the 3-HP production of the strain WYY19 increased by 2.29 times compared to that of the plasmid-expressing system. Under optimized fermentation conditions, the final engineered strain WYY19 produced 42.22 g/L 3-HP with the specific productivity of 0.69 g/g and 0.46 g/L/h from glucose and malonate in fed-batch bioreactor. Conclusions This study demonstrates a robust, genetically stable, and scalable microbial platform for 3-HP biosynthesis.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains a leading cause of cancer-related mortality worldwide, and understanding its molecular drivers is critical for improving therapeutic outcomes. SUMOylation is a form of post-translational modification that conjugates small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO) to specific lysine residues of target proteins. The sole SUMO E2-conjugating enzyme UBC9 is upregulated in multiple malignancies, yet its functional role and specific substrate in LUAD remain poorly defined. Here, we demonstrate that UBC9 is significantly elevated in LUAD tissues, and its high expression is associated with adverse clinic outcomes. Functional assays revealed that genetic ablation of UBC9 robustly suppresses LUAD cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and tumorigenesis both in vitro and in vivo. Through immunoprecipitation-mass spectrometry, we identified Coronin-1C (CORO1C), a master regulator of actin dynamics, as a key substrate of UBC9-mediated SUMOylation. Mechanistically, SUMOylation of CORO1C at lysine residues K19, K311, and K440 enhances its binding to actin-related protein 2 (Arp2) complex, promotes actin‑based cytoskeletal remodeling, and drives malignant cellular behaviors. Collectively, our work reveals a previously unrecognized regulatory axis in which UBC9‑dependent SUMOylation licenses CORO1C to orchestrate Arp2/3‑mediated cytoskeletal dynamics, thereby advancing LUAD progression. These findings reveal CORO1C as a novel SUMOylation target in lung adenocarcinoma and offer new mechanistic insights into tumor cell motility, but also highlight a promising therapeutic avenue for treating advanced LUAD.

Selective room-temperature detection of 1-octen-3-ol, a representative fungal volatile organic compound (VOC) associated with food spoilage, remains challenging due to limited adsorption–activation efficiency in conventional sensing materials. Herein, pristine Zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-67) and Rhodium (Rh)-decorated ZIF-67 (Rh@ZIF-67) were developed as chemiresistive sensing materials via a mild solution-based strategy, achieving controlled Rh loadings (0.4–0.6%) while preserving the polyhedral ZIF-67 framework. The crystal structure, surface chemical states, porosity, and morphology were systematically characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and transmission electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (TEM/EDS), confirming that the ZIF-67 framework was preserved and Rh species were successfully anchored on the porous host. At room temperature (25°C), the optimized 0.5%Rh@ZIF-67 sensor exhibits a stable concentration-dependent response over 5–50 ppm, delivering a response of 2.41 at 50 ppm—approximately 15.1 times higher than pristine ZIF-67 (0.16) with response and recovery times of 90 s and 119 s, respectively. The sensor further demonstrates good selectivity, repeatability, and long-term stability over 25 days. Humidity evaluation (30–90%) Relative Humidity (RH) indicates moderate response attenuation attributed to competitive adsorption of water molecules. The enhanced sensing performance is attributed to synergistic adsorption enrichment from porous ZIF-67 combined with Rh-induced catalytic and electronic sensitization, enabling efficient resistance modulation under ambient conditions. This work provides a promising strategy for low-power, selective monitoring of spoilage-related VOC biomarkers in practical storage environments.

The solubility properties of coumarin-3-carboxylic acid (CCA) was studied in 12 kinds of alcohol and ester solvents at p = 100 kPa with the temperature range from 278.15 to 318.15 K. It was found that the solubility of CCA increases with the temperature raises. Among the selected solvents, methyl acetate showed the best dissolving ability for CCA, while 2-propanol showed the worst dissolving ability. The obtained data are neatly correlated with four models, including van’t Hoff, λ h , Wilson, and NRTL models, with λ h equation yielding the most accurate predicted results. The dissolving mechanism of CCA was investigated with intermolecular interaction between CCA and solvents by using the COSMO-RS model, and the results indicating that the dissolving process is affected by the intermolecular interaction, molecular polarity, and size of both solvents and CCA. The dissolution thermodynamics analysis shows that the dissolving process of CCA in the twelve solvents is spontaneous, endothermic, and enthalpy driven.

Developing highly efficient organic corrosion inhibitors plays a crucial role in enhancing copper's resistance to degradation in aggressive environments. This research evaluates the corrosion inhibition efficacy of 2-aminothiophene-3-carboxamide (2ATCA) at the copper interface in simulated seawater medium (3.5 wt% NaCl). The findings indicate that incorporating 0.60 g/L of 2ATCA into the NaCl solution leads to a significant drop in corrosion current density, from 12.1 μA·cm -2 to 1.7 μA·cm -2 , achieving an inhibition efficiency of 86%. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm model was derived by applying the thermodynamic principles governing the corrosion inhibitor's mechanism. The surface characteristics and composition of copper were characterized through a combination of analytical techniques including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The adsorption inhibition mechanism and reactivity of 2ATCA on the copper surface were further investigated through theoretical computational analysis. This study not only elucidates the adsorption behavior and mechanism of 2ATCA on copper but also provides a foundation for designing more effective organic inhibitors for copper corrosion in marine environments.

Inorganic plastic thermoelectric materials have attracted much attention for breaking the brittle bottleneck of traditional inorganic thermoelectric materials. The Ag2(S, Se, Te) system is one of the most novel and promising thermoelectric semiconductors. To enhance its thermoelectric performance, substitution of Na for Ag is adopted to modulate the electrical and thermal transport properties of Ag2S1/3Se1/3Te1/3, through enhancing phonon scattering and effective mass. It enables us to achieve a record high average power factor (PF) of 7.4 μW cm−1 K−2 in the temperature interval of 300–500 K and a room-temperature thermoelectric figure of merit (ZT) of 0.50 and a peak ZT of 0.84 at 500 K in Ag2(S, Se, Te), respectively. In addition, the slip mode of Ag2S1/3Se1/3Te1/3 plastic deformation is also revealed for the first time, in which the crystal slip behavior is dominated by the {112}〈111〉 slip regime, instead of the conventional {110}〈111〉 view. The obtained high thermoelectric performance, as well as the maintained plastic performance, shows broad application prospects in waste heat recovery and wearable devices.

Phthalonitrile resins are widely recognized for their outstanding heat resistance, dielectric properties, and mechanical properties. However, the excessively high melting temperature and narrow processing window constrain their applications in fields such as thermal protection. This study successfully prepared BPL-P resins with enhanced processing, thermal, and mechanical properties by modifying laboratory-synthesized silicone-containing phthalonitrile (BPL) resins with 3-aminophenylacetylene (APA). The alkyne group in APA can self-polymerize to form polyene and trisubstituted benzene structures, and the amino group in APA encourages the conversion of cyano groups into triazine and phthalocyanine. These modifications confer exceptional thermal and thermo-oxidative stability to the resins, with the T d5 of BPL-P2 resin (containing 20 wt% APA) reaching 563.2°C and 522.2°C, respectively. Additionally, the strong solubility and relatively low viscosity of APA significantly enhance the processing performance of the resin. The softening point of BPL-P2 resin decreases from 161°C to 94°C, and its processing window expands from 32°C to 59°C under a viscosity of 1 Pa·s. Moreover, the mechanical properties of the quartz fiber-reinforced composite QF/BPL-P2 were substantially enhanced, with flexural strength increasing from 673.6 MPa to 731.9 MPa at room temperature, and from 115.1 MPa to 358.4 MPa after heat treatment at 400°C for 16 h. These findings broaden the potential applications of phthalonitrile resins in high-end industrial sectors.

Iron molybdate (Fe2(MoO4)3) was used as a novel heterogeneous catalyst to activate persulfate () for rhodamine B (RhB) degradation. Results indicated 10 mg/L RhB can be completely removed under the addition of 4 mM and 0.4 g/L Fe2(MoO4)3 within 240 min. Fe2(MoO4)3 can be repeatedly used for six cycles and showed high stability with Fe leaching amounts less than 2.9% in each run. Possible catalytic mechanism was proposed as follows: RhB degradation intermediate products such as hydroxybenzene, quinone compounds and organic compound radicals acted as electron transfer agents to reduce Fe3+ to Fe2+, which reacted with persulfate to form Fe3+ creating the redox cycling of iron, the RhB and those intermediate products are oxidized directly by the molybdenum peroxo complexes which forming probably with and persulfate, and the synergy between Fe3+ and occurring the catalytic effect on the persulfate. Additionally, the major intermediates of RhB were identified according to GC/MS and the possible degradation pathway was proposed.

Near-infrared phosphor-converted light-emitting diodes (NIR pc-LEDs) have an extensive range of applications within multiple fields, such as bioimaging, night vision and non-destructive examination. Therefore, developing broadband, low-cost, and efficient NIR phosphors capable of satisfying the demands of the above applications is desired. In this work, a series of inexpensive phosphate Na 2 AlTi(PO 4 ) 3 :Cr 3+ phosphors were developed. This material shows a broadband NIR emission covering 700-1200 nm with emission peak located at 830 nm and a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 152 nm under 470 nm excitation. Moreover, the photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) can be optimized to 79.1%, suggesting a high efficiency among octahedral Al 3+ -containing NIR materials. Finally, a prototype NIR pc-LED device was fabricated via directly coating the InGaN blue LED chip with the optimized Na 2 AlTi(PO 4 ) 3 :Cr 3+ phosphor. The NIR output power of the device was determined to be 17.24 mW at 100 mA driving current, and the corresponding NIR photoelectric conversion efficiency was 7.51%, indicating the excellent output performance, and good potential in practical applications.
