The unstable electrolyte/lithium (Li) anode interface has been one of the key challenges in realizing high energy density solid-state lithium metal batteries (LMBs) applications. Herein, a dense and uniform silver (Ag) nano interlayer with a thickness of ∼35 nm is designed accurately by magnetron sputtering technology to optimize the electrolyte/Li anode interface. This Ag nano layer reacts with Li metal anode to in-situ form Li-Ag alloy, thus enhancing the physical interfacial contact, and further improving the interfacial wettability and compatibility. In particular, the Li-Ag alloy is inclined to form AgLi phase proved by cryo-TEM and DFT, effectively preventing SN from continuously “attacking” the Li metal anode due to the lower adsorption of succinonitrile (SN) molecules on AgLi than that of pure Li metal, thereby significantly reinforcing the interfacial stability. Hence, the enhanced physical and chemical stability of electrolyte/Li anode interface promotes the homogeneous deposition of Li + and inhibits the dendrite growth. The Li-symmetric cell maintains stable operation for up to 1700 h and the cycling stability of LiFePO 4 |SPE|Li full cell is remarkably improved at room temperature (capacity retention rate of 91.9% for 200 cycles). This work opens an effective way for accurate and controllable interface design of long lifespan solid-state LMBs.

Complex liquid–solid reactions occur during brazing. A deep understanding of brazing liquid evolution is therefore of important concern for the bonding between filler and substrates. The joining of gas-pressure-sintered silicon nitride (Si 3 N 4 ) ceramic to oxygen-free copper (OFC) foil was prepared using Ag–Cu–TiH 2 filler at 875°C for 0.5 h. The effect of the Ag:Cu ratio on the interfacial microstructure and peeling strength of the joints was analyzed. The reaction of brazing liquid with Si 3 N 4 ceramic includes reactions with both the β-Si 3 N 4 and the grain boundary phases (Y–Si–Mg–O–N). The resulting interfacial reaction products include TiN, Ti 5 Si 3 , and potential Cu 3 Ti 3 O. Based on the phase composition and three-dimensional morphology of the interfacial reaction products in the Si 3 N 4 ceramic/OFC foil joints, a model for the evolution of the brazing liquid as the reaction proceeds was proposed. Peeling test results indicated that the peeling strength of the joints rises unilaterally with the increase of the Ag:Cu ratio in the filler until reaching the peak value of 24.3 N/mm at the maximum Ag:Cu ratio of 90:10. The mechanisms of the joint peeling fracture were discussed in detail.

Structuring a stable artificial coating to mitigate dendrite growth and side reactions is an effective strategy for protecting the Zn metal anode. Herein, a Cu-Ag double-layer metal coating is constructed on the Zn anode (Zn@Cu-Ag) by simple and in-situ displacement reactions. The Cu layer enhances the bond between the Ag layer and Zn substrate by acting as an intermediary, preventing the Ag coating from detachment. Concurrently, the Ag layer serves to improve the corrosion resistance of Cu metal. During plating, the initial Cu sheets and Ag particles on the surface of Zn@Cu-Ag electrode gradually transform into a flat and smooth layer, resulting in the formation of AgZn, AgZn 3 , and (Ag, Cu)Zn 4 alloys. Alloys play a multifunctional role in inhibiting dendrite growth and side reactions due to decreased resistance, low nucleation barrier, enhanced zincophilicity, and strong corrosion resistance. Consequently, the Zn@Cu-Ag symmetric cell exhibits continuous stable performance for 3750 h at 1 mA cm −2 . Furthermore, the Zn@Cu-Ag||Zn 3 V 3 O 8 full cell achieves an initial capacity of 293.4 mAh g −1 and realizes long cycling stability over 1200 cycles. This work provides new insight into the engineering of an efficient artificial interface for highly stable and reversible Zn metal anodes.

This study aimed to address the challenges associated with silicon (Si) anode materials in Li-ion batteries, such as their large volume effect and poor electrical conductivity. To overcome these limitations, a novel composite microsphere called pSi/Ag was developed using quartz waste through a combination of high-energy ball-milling, spray drying, and magnesiothermic reduction techniques. The morphology and structure of the pSi/Ag composite were thoroughly characterized using various methods, including X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The results revealed that the Ag nanoparticles were uniformly dispersed within the porous micron-sized Si sphere particles, leading to enhanced electrochemical performance compared to pure porous silicon that did not undergo the spray drying process. The use of micron-sized Si prevented the excessive formation of the solid electrolyte interphase film, and the pSi/Ag-5 anode, prepared with 5 wt% AgNO3 as a precursor, demonstrated an impressive initial Coulombic efficiency of 92.8%. Moreover, a high specific capacity of 1251.4 mA h g−1 over 300 cycles at a current density of 4000 mA g−1 was attributed to the improved conductivity provided by the Ag nanoparticles in the Si matrix. The straightforward synthesis method employed in this study to produce pSi/Ag presents a promising approach for the future development of high-performance silicon anodes in Li-ion batteries.

To strengthen the properties of nanozymes, a Ag-β-cyclodextrin-graphene oxide ternary nanocomposite (Ag-β-CD-GO) was developed first by a homogeneous redox-active self-assembly method. Taking advantage of the excellent environmental compatibility, high surface areas, and strong hydrogen-bonding ability of β-cyclodextrin and graphene oxide, the proposed Ag-β-CD-GO exhibited superior peroxidase-mimicking activity, high stability, and nontoxicity as well. It could accelerate the oxidation–reduction reaction of the common colorimetric substrate 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) and the oxidant H2O2 with Michaelis constants (Km)/maximal reaction rates (Vmax) of 3.3 mmol·L–1/2.45 × 10–8 mol·L–1·s–1 and 0.13 mmol·L–1/2.52 × 10–8 mol·L–1·s–1, respectively. Interestingly, toxic Hg2+ could decrease the characteristic UV–vis absorbance at 653 nm of the Ag-β-CD-GO-TMB-H2O2 system exclusively with an obvious color change from blue to colorless, expressing a visual hypochromic effect. Under the optimal testing conditions (pH 4.0, 180 μL of 1.5 mmol·L–1 TMB, 180 μL of 1.0 mol·L–1 H2O2, incubation for 20 min at 25 °C), the target Ag-β-CD-GO-TMB-H2O2 was efficiently utilized for visual monitoring of toxic Hg2+ in natural water, drink, and fruit juice samples with quite a low detection limit, i.e., 8.3 × 10–10 mol·L–1 (S/N = 3), far below the 3.0 × 10–8 mol·L–1 permitted in drinking water by the World Health Organization (WHO). The synergetic enhancement peroxidase-mimicking activity of Ag-β-CD-GO and the exclusive recognition mechanism to Hg2+ were further investigated in detail.

By integrating the photonic nanojet effect of polystyrene microsphere (PS), the charge transfer capability of MXene nanosheets, and the electromagnetic field enhancement induced by Ag nanoparticles, the PS@MXene@Ag composite substrate exhibited outstanding SERS sensitivity. • The SERS performance of the PS@MXene@Ag substrate was evaluated using 2-mercaptopyridine as a probe molecule, achieving a detection limit as low as 1.24 × 10 −12 M, with the SERS performance factor (SPF) up to 5.0 × 10(Gueguen et al., 2000 [7] ) . In addition, the SERS substrate demonstrated satisfactory results in signal uniformity, batch-to-batch reproducibility, and long-term stability. • PS@MXene@Ag composite successfully detected thiram and methyl blue on practical sample surfaces (orange and fish), achieving satisfactory recovery rates. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy has emerged as a powerful analytical technique for the sensitive detection of hazardous molecules, owing to its ultranarrow spectral linewidths and highly specific molecular fingerprinting capability. Herein, we designed a reliable SERS substrate consisting of polystyrene microspheres (PS), Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene nanosheets, and Ag nanoparticles (NPs) for the sensitive detection of various organic pollutants. By integrating the photonic nanojet effect of PS, the charge transfer capability of MXene nanosheets, and the electromagnetic field enhancement induced by Ag NPs, the PS@MXene@Ag composite substrate exhibited outstanding SERS sensitivity, along with excellent reproducibility and signal uniformity. As a result, the limit of detection (LOD) for 2-mercaptopyridine (2-Mpy) was as low as 1.24 × 10 −12 M, with the SERS performance factor (SPF) of up to 5.0 × 10 7 . Moreover, the SERS substrate maintained good stability after storage for four weeks. In addition, the PS@MXene@Ag composite was successfully applied to the detection of other organic pollutants, including thiram and methylene blue (MB). The calibration results revealed a good linear relationship between the logarithm of concentration and the corresponding SERS intensity, with correlation coefficients (R 2 ) of 0.99 and 0.98, respectively. The LODs for thiram and MB were calculated to be 1.96 × 10 −10 M and 2.33 × 10 −10 M, respectively, and satisfactory recovery rates were obtained in practical sample analyses (orange peel and fish skin). These results demonstrate that the fabricated PS@MXene@Ag SERS substrate has promising potential for the detection of organic molecular pollutants. The removal of ammonia (NH 3 ) emitted from agricultural and industrial activities is of great significance to protect human health and ecological environment. Photocatalytic NH 3 oxidation to N 2 under mild conditions is a promising strategy. However, developing visible light photocatalysts for NH 3 oxidation is still in its infancy. Here, we fabricate N-TiO 2 and Ag/AgCl/N-TiO 2 photocatalysts by sol-gel and photodeposition methods, respectively. The introduction of N not only endows TiO 2 with visible light response (absorption edge at 460 nm) but also results in the formation of heterophase junction (anatase and rutile). Thus, N-TiO 2 shows 2.0 and 1.8 times higher than those over anatase TiO 2 and commercial TiO 2 for NH 3 oxidation under full spectrum irradiation. Meanwhile, surface modification of Ag can simultaneously enhance visible light absorption (generating localized surface plasmon resonance effect) and charge separation efficiency. Therefore, the photocatalytic activity of Ag/AgCl/N-TiO 2 is further improved. Furthermore, the presence of N and Ag also enhances the selectivity of N 2 product owing to the change of reaction pathway. This work simultaneously regulates photocatalytic conversion efficiency and product selectivity, providing some guidance for developing highly efficient photocatalysts for NH 3 elimination.

Trace analysis has great promise in the fields of disease diagnosis and environment protection. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has wide range of utilization due to its reliable fingerprint detection. However, the sensitivity of SERS still needs to be enhanced. Raman scattering of target molecules around hotspots, the area with extremely strong electromagnetic field , can be highly amplified. Therefore, to increase the density of hotspots is one of the major approaches for enhancing the detection sensitivity of target molecules. In this paper, an ordered array of Ag nanocubes was assembled on a thiol modified silicon substrate as a SERS substrate, which provided high-density hotspots. The detection sensitivity is demonstrated by the limit of detection, which is down to 10 −6 nM with Rhodamine 6G as probe molecule. The wide linear range (10 −7 –10 −13 M) and low relative standard deviation (<6.48%) indicate the good reproducibility of the substrate. Furthermore, the substrate can be used for the detection of dye molecules in lake water. This method provides an approach for increasing hotspots of SERS substrate, which could be a promising method to achieve good reproducibility and high sensitivity.

Composites with linear dielectric properties possess advantages in energy storage fields for the high charge-discharge efficiency with low energy loss. However, energy density of them is limited due to low permittivity. Here, a linear dielectric polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) composite filled with parallel aligned core-shell Ag@BaTiO 3 (BT) 2D flakes is prepared by directional shearing, which possesses high permittivity and excellent energy storage properties. Compared with traditional polymer/core-shell hybrid filler composites, this work presents modified filler composition, different filler dimension and enhanced energy storage performances. Conformably-coated Ag@BT flakes are prepared through simultaneous hydrolysis on polyvinylpyrrolidone-functionalized Ag flakes, forming a smooth ∼100 nm thick coating layer. The aligned PDMS/40 vol% Ag@BT flake composite exhibits a very high permittivity of 347 and a low dielectric loss< 0.03 at 100 Hz from 20 to 150 °C. The comp°site exhibits an enhanced breakdown strength of 26 kV cm −1 owing to BT coverage-shell blocking and parallel filler arrangement, compared with that of percolative composites filled with metal particles without shell-coverage. The composite exhibits linear dielectric characteristics with high discharged energy density of 6.18 × 10 −3 J cm −3 and superhigh charge-discharge efficiency> 95% at 20 kV cm −1 . This study demonstrates Ag@BT flake based linear-polymer composites for energy related applications.

Simulated-daylight photodynamic therapy (SD-PDT) may be an efficacious strategy for treating melanoma because it can overcome the severe stinging pain, erythema, and edema experienced during conventional PDT. However, the poor daylight response of existing common photosensitizers leads to unsatisfactory anti-tumor therapeutic effects and limits the development of daylight PDT. Hence, in this study, we utilized Ag nanoparticles to adjust the daylight response of TiO2, acquire efficient photochemical activity, and then enhance the anti-tumor therapeutic effect of SD-PDT on melanoma. The synthesized Ag-doped TiO2showed an optimal enhanced effect compared to Ag-core TiO2. Doping Ag into TiO2produced a new shallow acceptor impurity level in the energy band structure, which expanded optical absorption in the range of 400–800 nm, and finally improved the photodamage effect of TiO2under SD irradiation. Plasmonic near-field distributions were enhanced due to the high refractive index of TiO2at the Ag-TiO2interface, and then the amount of light captured by TiO2was increased to induce the enhanced SD-PDT effect of Ag-core TiO2. Hence, Ag could effectively improve the photochemical activity and SD-PDT effect of TiO2through the change in the energy band structure. Generally, Ag-doped TiO2is a promising photosensitizer agent for treating melanoma via SD-PDT.Keywords:melanoma;simulated-daylight photodynamic therapy;Ag-doped TiO2;Ag-core TiO2

Near-infrared (NIR) driven photodynamic therapy based on upconversion luminescent nanoparticles (UCNPs) is promising for fighting drug-resistant bacteria infections in deep tissues due to its good noninvasive, nonspecific, and non-drug-resistant properties, but is greatly limited by its low efficacy. Herein, honeycomb-silica-coated upconversion nanoparticles (UCNP@mSiO2) with a size of less than 100 nm were successfully prepared by a typical silica sol–gel reaction assisted with an expanding agent (p-xylene). The honeycomb silica shell has large pores with an average diameter of about 10 nm and large pore volume of 0.82 cm3/g and exhibits a MC540 loading as high as 9% in weight. The UCNP nanoparticle core can effectively capture NIR photons and activate the merocyanine 540 photosensitizer (MC540), generating reactive oxygen species to kill the drug-resistant bacteria of deep tissues. To avoid the drug prerelease, Ag nanoparticles in diameter close to that of the silica hole were covalently grafted onto the aminated UCNP@MC540@mSiO2 (UMS-NH2) nanoparticle. The Ag-decorated UMS-NH2 nanoparticles (UMSAg) showed synergistic antibacterial effects of Ag chemotherapy and photodynamic therapy and are more stable than undecorated UMS nanoparticles in an aqueous medium. The UMSAg with unreacted amino groups enhanced the binding of Ag to the bacterial membrane, effectively exerting the antibacterial effect of Ag+ and ROS. In in vitro antibacterial experiments, the killing rates of the UMSAg composite (150 μg/mL) against drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and drug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa under NIR irradiation were 100% and 99.6%, respectively. In addition, the antibacterial activity of the UMSAg group was significantly higher than that of the sole Ag nanoparticles without irradiation. This work provides good insight for the design of efficient antibacterial agents and has a potential application for the bacterial infection of deep tissues.

In this work, the heterostructure of CoS x /Ag/Ag 2 S/ZnIn 2 S 4 (CAAZ) was synthesized by photodeposition reaction, cation exchange and low temperature solvothermal reaction. The degradation kinetic constants of TC and MO by CAAZ-3 within 60 min were 2.5 and 7.1 times that of pure ZnIn 2 S 4 , respectively, and CAAZ-3 still maintained good catalytic activity after 5 cycles. ZnIn 2 S 4 nanosheet is attached to the surface of CoS x hollow structure, which increases the reactive active site and improves the efficiency of light utilization. Notably, the introduction of Ag/Ag 2 S nanoparticles accelerates the conduction rate of photogenerated charge between the interfaces, which is consistent with the results of photochemical tests. It was found that the synergistic interaction of •O 2 - and h + played an important role in the degradation process of TC molecules. This study focuses on the development of photocatalysts for the efficient degradation of organic pollutants and theoretically demonstrates the importance of optimizing conductive interfaces for improving photocatalytic activity.
