Bimetallic metal–organic frameworks offer exceptional advantages, including high specific surface area, excellent chemical stability, and tunable bandgap characteristics. In this study, a novel bimetallic metal–organic framework/TiO 2 composite photoanode was successfully prepared via a hydrothermal method. The composite exhibited an open-circuit potential negatively shifted to −0.4 V and a photocurrent density of 16.3 μA·cm⁻². The photoanode demonstrated remarkable long-term cathodic protection, effectively safeguarding 304 stainless steel for 28 days in saline environments. By precisely tuning the molar ratio of the two metal centers, the band structure of the bimetallic metal–organic framework was systematically modulated. Notably, at a 1:1 metal ion ratio, the conduction band reached its most negative position, and the work function was minimized. Density-of-states calculations revealed that variations in metal atom proportions altered the electronic configuration, thereby influencing the band structure. Additionally, in situ illuminated XPS was employed to elucidate interfacial charge-transfer dynamics and the photoelectrochemical protection mechanism at the heterojunction interface.

In this study, a novel polyimide (PI)/metal-organic frameworks (MOFs)/polyetherimide (PEI) composite membrane was fabricated for gas separation applications. The directional alignment of MOFs on PI electrospun nanofibers was achieved by an in-situ growth method, resulting in the construction of continuous, fast, and low-resistance gas transport channels in the composite membrane (PEI/PI@ZIF-67). This PI nanofiber backbone with a three-dimensional network structure not only remarkably enhanced the interfacial compatibility between the polymer and the MOFs, but also significantly improved the mechanical strength of the membrane, resulting in a tensile strength of the composite membrane of 100 MPa. Moreover, the introduction of PI fibers promoted the oriented alignment of the MOFs and enhanced the H 2 separation performance. The H 2 permeability of PEI/PI@ZIF-67-3 was 9.5 Barrer, which was 439% higher than that of the pure PEI membrane. The H 2 /CO 2 selectivity was 9.3, which was 3.3 times higher than that of the pure PEI membrane. This can be attributed to the porous structure of ZIF-67 and the complex and tortuous gas transport path provided by the PI fibers, allowing the optimized composite design of PEI/PI@ZIF-67 to simultaneously improve gas permeability and selectivity. Furthermore, the prepared fiber composite membranes exhibited good hydrophobicity and thermal stability. Consequently, PEI/PI@ZIF-67, with its continuous and fast transport path, shows great potential for CO 2 capture and H 2 recovery applications.

Metal-organic framework (MOF)-based membranes have demonstrated exceptional performance in liquid pollutant filtration but face challenges in multiphase water treatment, including limited screening range and structural instability in solution. To address these limitations, we developed a hybrid matrix membrane by in situ self-assembly of UiO-66 nanoparticles onto oxygen-functionalized graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets. This design leveraged the large specific surface area and tunable pore architecture of the composite, where the UiO-66 framework enhanced pore space for efficient molecular capture while preserving high permeability. The optimized KH-570-UiO-66@GO imprinted membranes (KUG-IMs), fabricated via a click chemistry‑boron affinity imprinting strategy, achieved outstanding selectivity and separation efficiency for ribavirin (RBV). The KUG-IMs exhibited a static adsorption capacity of 35.42 mg g -1 and dynamic adsorption performance of 32.05 mg L -1 , surpassing conventional membranes. Remarkably, the membranes maintained 90.18 % of their initial adsorption capacity after six consecutive adsorption-desorption cycles, highlighting exceptional operational stability. Selectivity studies revealed superior rebinding ( α = 4.49, 4.99, 3.02) and permeation ( β = 5.86, 4.18, 6.61) selectivity ratios against competing molecules. These results demonstrate a breakthrough in balancing flux and selectivity for MOF-based membranes, offering a robust platform for practical water purification and molecular separation applications. The structural integrity, high adsorption capacity, and recyclability of KUG-IMs position them as promising candidates for sustainable pollutant management systems.

To address the environmental threats posed by dye pollution, it is crucial to develop adsorbents with high selectivity and adsorption capacity for the removal of chemical dye pollutants. In this study, five types of Ni/Fe-MOFs were synthesized via a one-pot solvothermal method by varying the Ni/Fe molar ratio. Their physicochemical structures, surface morphologies, and compositions were characterized through a series of techniques, and their adsorption performances for different dyes were preliminarily investigated. The results demonstrated that the Ni/Fe ratio significantly affects the microstructure and adsorption performance of the MOFs. As the molar ratio of Ni/Fe increased, the structures of the five materials transformed from nanoflowers (Fe-MOFs) to nanospheres (Ni/Fe(3:1)MOFs) , and eventually to rhombic blocks (Ni-MOFs) . The specific surface area decreased from 281.3 m²/g (Fe-MOFs) to 67.11 m²/g (Ni/Fe(1:1)MOFs) and further to 0.5369 m²/g (Ni-MOFs) . XPS analysis confirmed the synergistic coordination between Ni and Fe, and FT-IR spectra revealed characteristic peaks for hydroxyl groups on the MOF surface and carboxylate ligands. XRD analysis indicated that materials with higher Ni content were more prone to ligand decomposition, which is consistent with the weight loss observed in the TG-DSC between 230 and 350 °C. The materials exhibited selective adsorption for different dyes. Under optimal conditions, the maximum adsorption capacities for Eosin Y (EY), Neutral Red (NR), and Acid Fuchsin (AF) were 54.92 mg/g (Fe-MOFs) , 636.31 mg/g (Ni-MOFs) , and 79.30 mg/g (Ni/Fe(1:1)MOFs) , respectively. The adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo-second-order model, and the adsorption isotherms conformed to the Langmuir model, while Fe-MOFs and Ni/Fe(1:1) MOFs also exhibited compatibility with the Freundlich model. The adsorption mechanism primarily involved monolayer adsorption as the dominant process, with localized multilayer adsorption, as well as chemisorption, hydrogen bonding, hydroxyl interactions, and electrostatic interactions. These MOFs demonstrated high dye removal efficiency in actual water samples and fruit and vegetable juices, exhibiting excellent reusability and anti-interference capabilities. Importantly, compared with the single system, Fe-MOFs and Ni/Fe(1:1)MOFs exhibit competitive adsorption, and Ni-MOFs exhibit synergistic adsorption in the binary system. This study confirms that by adjusting the Ni/Fe molar ratio, MOFs with high selectivity and adsorption performance for different dyes can be designed, providing new theoretical insights and technical support for environmental remediation and food safety applications.

Cherries are highly susceptible to spoilage after harvest due to physiological and biochemical changes. This poses considerable challenges to food safety. Common fungal pathogens responsible for decay include Aspergillus niger and Cladosporium cladosporioides . Citral, an efficient antifungal agent, is thought to combat these pathogens through interactions with phytase (phyA) and N-myristoyltransferase (NMT), a hypothesis explored through molecular docking simulations. Using the Independent Gradient Model based on Hirshfeld partition (IGMH) analysis, it was found that citral encapsulated within α -cyclodextrin metal-organic frameworks ( α -CD-MOFs) forms strong van der Waals forces and exhibits hydrogen bonding. These interactions enhance the stability of the composite material. Incorporating citral-loaded α -CD-MOFs into a matrix of sodium alginate and pullulan resulted in a novel composite film. This film exhibits significantly improved flexibility and tensile properties, which is beneficial for fruit packaging. Meanwhile, the Higuchi and Ritger–Peppas models both indicate that citral is released by diffusion from a uniform polymeric matrix. When applied to cherry preservation, the film exhibited significantly better cherry preservation at 4 °C than at 30 °C ( P < 0.05). Simultaneously, the combination of low temperature with the film’s barrier properties and sustained antimicrobial release synergistically inhibited microbial growth and fruit metabolism, effectively delaying spoilage and supporting its application in both cold-chain and ambient-temperature transport.

Metal–Organic-Frameworks (MOFs) are commonly used as microwave-absorbing materials after pyrolysis treatment. Rare researchers treat MOFs as non-conductive materials and use them as absorbing materials directly. In this paper, MOFs@P-C-800 composite materials are prepared adopt to hydrothermal and ultrasonic dispersion methods by regulating the morphological characteristics of MOFs and the content of P-C-800. As for the Co-BDC-P-C-800, the maximum reflection loss reaches −18.4 dB at 14.29 GHz and the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) achieves 3.87 GHz from 13.5 to 17.37 GHz. After the contents of P-C-800 is adjusted, the Co-BDC-P-C-800 (0.05 g) exhibited excellent microwave absorption performance, the maximum RL value of −60 dB at 13 GHz with a thickness of 2.0 mm, and the EAB achieves 5.91 GHz from 12.02 to 17.93 GHz. This paper not only provides new application direction for MOFs, but also offers a promising direction for the research and development of absorbing materials.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are a promising class of porous crystalline materials which can be functionalized by versatile postsynthetic modification (PSM) for further practical applications. Whereas, such crystalline nature of MOFs stands as a serious obstacle to their desired shaping and manufacture for further practical applications. Herein, a multi-step tandem functionalization assembly strategy is employed to fabricate a luminescent MOF-based hybrid polymeric film to endow the luminescent MOFs with processability and applicability. In detail, Eu 3+ ions are introduced into ZnMOF-5-NH 2 frameworks to create a red emitting-center firstly. Next, methacrylic anhydride is incorporated to react with amino functional groups of Eu-ZnMOF-5-NH 2 to obtain Eu-MOF-L with unsaturated bonds by a covalent PSM strategy. Finally, the copolymerization reaction took place between Eu-MOF-L and monomers (butyl methacrylate) which initiated by benzoyl peroxide . The polymeric hybrid film (Eu-MOF-L@PBMA film) is soft, flexible, and homogeneous. The physical characterization and the luminescence properties of these hybrid materials were studied in details. The multi-color luminescence of these hybrids and their polymeric hybrid films are tuned by optimizing the critical parameters to serve as a white-light emitting device. Furthermore, Eu-MOF-L@PBMA film is utilized for the detection of volatile organic vapors. In terms of their distinct color variation, an effective dual-readout method assists in sensing volatile organic vapors, especially organic amine vapors.

The direct synthesis of cyclic carbonates from olefins involves a tandem process of olefin epoxidation and CO 2 cycloaddition, but designing a single catalyst with multiple active sites remains a challenge. In this work, a series of dual ligands quaternized Zr-based MOFs (Zr-Bpydc(Py + Br − )/CoTCPP-x, x = 1–5) were successfully synthesized by co-assembling 2,2′-bipyridine-5,5′-dicarboxylic acid (Bpydc) and cobalt(II) 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-carboxyphenyl)porphyrin (CoTCPP) with Zr 6 clusters, followed by post-synthetic quaternization to incorporate nucleophilic Br − sites. Among them, Zr-Bpydc(Py + Br − )/CoTCPP-4 exhibited the best catalytic performance under mild reaction conditions (80 °C, 1.0 MPa, 12 h), achieving styrene conversion of 94.2 % and styrene carbonate (SC) selectivity of 66.5 %, significantly outperforming most previously reported heterogeneous catalytic systems under cocatalyst-free conditions. The excellent catalytic activity was attributed to the synergistic effect among redox-active Co 2+ sites, Lewis acidic Zr 4+ and Co 2+ sites, Br − sites, and basic pyridyl sites. Importantly, the catalyst also demonstrated broad substrate applicability and good recyclability, with negligible activity loss over five consecutive cycles. Furthermore, density functional theory (DFT) calculations elucidated the energy profile and reaction pathway of the styrene oxidative carboxylation reaction, revealing the cooperative roles of multiple active sites in both epoxidation and CO 2 cycloaddition reactions. Therefore, this work proposes a strategy based on the synergy of multiple active sites for developing efficient and recyclable heterogeneous MOF catalysts for CO 2 conversion.

The development of acetone gas sensors is desirable but challenging for both air quality monitoring and medical diagnosis. Herein, starting from bimetallic In/Ga metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) (MIL-68 (In/Ga)), a facile strategy is proposed to couple with zinc ions to design In/Ga oxide (IGO)@ZnO core–shell nanotubes for efficient acetone detection. In such a heterostructure, tiny ZnO nanoparticles are closely decorated on IGO nanotubes, which is beneficial to enlarge the specific surface area and create rich oxygen vacancies and heterojunction interfaces. Benefiting from the structural merits and synergetic effects, the IGO@ZnO-based gas sensor exhibits a low detection limitation (200 ppb), a high response, good linearity relationship between the sensing responses and wide testing acetone concentrations, and fast response and recovery time (6.8/6.1 s) with good selectivity and stability. These sensing performances strongly indicate the practical application to quantitatively detect acetone.

Background Skin injury and the resultant defects are common clinical problems, and usually lead to chronic skin ulcers and even life-threatening diseases. Copper, an essential trace element of human body, has been reported to promote the regeneration of skin by stimulating proliferation of endothelial cell and enhance angiogenesis. Results Herein, we have prepared a new donut-like metal–organic frameworks (MOF) of copper-nicotinic acid (CuNA) by a simple solvothermal reaction. The rough surface of CuNA is beneficial for loading/release basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF). The CuNAs with/without bFGF are easily processed into a light-responsive composite hydrogel with GelMA, which not only show excellent mechanical properties, but also display superior biocompatibility, antibacterial ability and bioactivity. Moreover, in the in vivo full-thickness defect model of skin wound, the resultant CuNA-bFGF@GelMA hydrogels significantly accelerate the wound healing, by simultaneously inhibiting the inflammatory response, promoting the new blood vessels formation and the deposition of collagen and elastic fibers. Conclusions Considering the superior biocompatibility, antibacterial ability and bioactivity, the CuNA and its composite light-responsive hydrogel system will be promising in the applications of skin and even other tissue regeneration. The escalating atmospheric CO 2 concentration necessitates its conversion into highvalue- added products like cyclic carbonates, yet existing catalysts face challenges such as poor recoverability (homogeneous ionic liquids, ILs) and insufficient activity (monometallic metal–organic frameworks, MOFs). To address this, a series of bimetallic Ni x /Zn 1-x -PTA MOFs with different Ni/Zn molar ratios were synthesized via a solvothermal method, and then composite catalysts (Ni x /Zn 1-x -PTA@Mim-6) were prepared by impregnating the MOFs with Mim-6 ILs. This work provides a promising approach for efficient and sustainable CO 2 capture and conversion by integrating the advantages of bimetallic MOFs (high porosity, recyclability) and ILs (high catalytic activity). Characterizations via FT-IR, XRD, TEM, STEM-EDS, and TGA confirmed the successful synthesis, well-defined structure (e.g., nanoflower-like morphology of Ni 0.2 /Zn 0.8 -PTA MOFs), homogeneous elemental distribution, and good thermal stability of the composites. Catalytic tests showed that Ni 0.2 /Zn 0.8 -PTA@Mim-6 exhibited optimal performance: under solvent-free and co-catalyst-free mild conditions, the yield and selectivity of styrene carbonate both exceeded 99%, which was significantly superior to monometallic Ni-PTA@Mim-6 (46% yield) and Ni 0.2 /Zn 0.8 - PTA MOFs with co-catalyst (76% efficiency). The catalyst also demonstrated excellent recyclability (no significant activity loss after 5 cycles, conversion 69% and selectivity 99%) and universality for various epoxides (e.g., high yields for 1,2-butylene oxide and epichlorohydrin). Mechanistic studies revealed that the synergistic effect of multiple active sites—Lewis acid sites (unsaturated Ni/Zn) for epoxide activation, Lewis base sites (O in Ni-O/Zn-O) for CO 2 activation, and Br - from Mim-6 for ring opening—lowered the reaction energy barrier (activation energy 35.80 kJ/mol) and enhanced catalytic efficiency.

The rapid proliferation of wireless electronics has created an urgent demand for EMI shielding materials that are environmentally friendly, highly efficient, and multifunctional. However, synergistically achieving the aforementioned multiple performance attributes in practical applications remains a highly challenging task. Herein, we propose a dual-gradient asymmetric structured composite film composed of cellulose nanofiber (CNF), porous Zn/Co-ZIF (ZIF Zn/Co ) particles, liquid metal (LM), and graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs). The film features a three-layer architecture: a top CNF/ZIF Zn/Co absorption layer, a middle CNF/ZIF Zn/Co /LM transition layer, and a bottom CNF/ZIF Zn/Co /GNPs reflection layer. Benefiting from its unique dual-gradient asymmetric structure design, the optimized composite film with 50 wt% ZIF Zn/Co , 10 wt% LM, and 16 wt% GNPs achieved an impressive EMI SE of 47.42 dB at a thickness of 0.4 mm. Notably, the film maintained good structural integrity and stable EMI shielding effectiveness under various chemical and high/low-temperature environmental conditions. Beyond shielding performance, the material demonstrates remarkable Joule heating performance, achieving a saturation temperature of 76.4 °C under a low driving voltage of merely 5 V. Furthermore, the film demonstrates reliable strain sensing for real-time monitoring of various human motions, including finger bending and elbow flexion, with distinct and reproducible signal patterns. This study constructs an efficient and multifunctional EMI shielding material to meet the urgent demand for reliable shielding protection for electronic devices in complex environments.
