The adsorption desulfurization technology presents remarkable advantages and is a promising method because of its affordability, gentle operating conditions. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have garnered significant attention owing to their remarkable features, including large specific surface areas, pore volume and the designable structure. The hierarchical porous CuBTC-DMA was successfully synthesized by adding salicylic acid and using the hydrothermal method. Subsequently, Ni ions were introduced into the structure using ion-exchange method. It was found that the doping of salicylic acid and Ni ions did not significant alter the structure of the material. The new type of π-complexed adsorbent, Ni@HP-CuBTC-DMA, was prepared. The results of adsorption desulfurization experiments showed that Ni@HP-CuBTC-DMA-1.5(0.2 M) had the highest adsorption capacity, with the maximum adsorption amounts of 25.63 mg S/g and 41.06 mg S/g for thiophene and benzothiophene , respectively. In the toluene competition experiment, the adsorption amount of thiophene could still reach 19.25 mg S/g. The results of regeneration experiments demonstrate that Ni@HP-CuBTC-DMA-1.5(0.2 M) still has excellent adsorption capacity after four cycles.

Molybdenum-copper composites have attracted increasing attention due to their excellent properties in terms of electrical conductivity , thermal conductivity and mechanical property, which are closely related to the density and composition of the sintered material. However, high temperatures are required to obtain high sintering density, resulting in loss of copper in most cases. In this work, a novel core-shell Mo–Cu composite powder was prepared by a ball-milling method followed by hydrogen reduction. The phase compositions and microstructure of prepared powders were studied by XRD , TEM and EDS , and the formation process of core-shell structure of Mo–Cu powders was discussed in detail. It was shown that the significant difference in reduction temperatures between molybdenum and copper oxides contributes to the formation of core-shell structure.

Graphical In this study, a lithiophilic 3D Cu 3 Sn active sites modified commercial Cu foil as current collector is designed by electroplating and heat process, which could induce a uniform nucleation of Li metal. The obtained Li@Cu 3 Sn anode shows superior interface property and efficient Li metal deposition/stripping process. The development of lithium metal battery is severely restricted by its uncontrolled dendrite growth and volume change. In this work, we designed a controllable lithiophilic Cu 3 Sn modified commercial Cu foil as current collector via simple industrial electroplating and heat treatment. As a Li-reservoir substrate for efficient deposition/stripping of Li metal, the introduction of Cu 3 Sn not only increases multiple active sites for the deposition of Li, but also provides more transfer paths for lithium ions. The Li metal anodes prepared by molten Li on the Cu current collector with dispersed Cu 3 Sn active sites provide a uniform lithiophilic surface, which could effectively promote a uniform Li deposition/stripping and suppress the formation of lithium dendrites. As a result, the assembled symmetric battery is stable at a low over-point position for 1600 h without short circuit at 1 mA cm −2 with 1 mAh cm −2 , the full battery paired with LiFePO 4 still maintains a high-capacity retention rate of 97.1 % and a coulombic efficiency (CE) of 99.5 % after 400 cycles at a current density of 2 C. This work provides a facile and controllable strategy for the design of current collectors with high lithium affinity for stable lithium metal anode applications.

The amorphous Cu-containing phosphomolybdate (Cu-PTs) composite with high peroxidase (POD)-like activity at neutral conditions was explored as biosensors for raloxifene (RAF) detection. The strong attraction between negatively charged Cu-PTs and positively charged substrates 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB), as well as the acceleration of the conversion of active Cu + /Cu 2+ by the Cu/W bimetallic redox couples were demonstrated to play significant roles in POD-like activity in physiological environment. When RAF is presence, it can bind to the surface of Cu-PTs and changes the chemical signal on the material surface, leading to the decreased POD-like activity. Based on this, a colorimetric method was established for the sensitive assay of RAF with a lower limit of detection (LOD) of 0.025 mg/L and good recovery from 90.13% to 108.9%. This work paves a new way to design a POD-like colorimetric protocol for tracing RAF in pharmaceutical products and environmental samples.

A novel, green, and facile approach has been developed to construct an ultrasensitive flexible enzyme-less electrochemical sensor on the basis of chitosan and graphene oxide composites decorated with Cu nanoparticles supported on nickel foam (Nif/Cs/GO@Cu), in which GO functions as the intermediate between Nif and Cu nanoparticles. The Nif/Cs/GO@Cu sensing platform was successfully fabricated by the drop casting method to load Cs/GO onto Nif followed by an additionally electrodeposition to support Cu nanoparticles on Nif/Cs/GO. Impressively, the Nif/Cs/GO@Cu exhibited much higher electrocatalytic activity for glucose and UA oxidation as compared to that of Nif or Nif@Cu. For glucose and UA at about 0.6 V and 0.1 V (vs. Ag/AgCl), linearity could be obtained in the concentration ranges 5 µM–4 mM and 5–345 µM; the sensitivities were 16 and 2.5 µA µM −1 cm −2 , and the detection limits 83 nM and 0.3 µM, respectively. The improved performance of the composite electrode was ascribed to the synergistic effect of Cu nanoparticles, Nif and GO, in which GO provides high electron conductivity and large surface area to prevent the agglomeration of Cu nanoparticles; Cu nanoparticles and Nif offer abundant active sites towards analytes oxidation. Additionally, the method was applied to determine both analytes successfully in blood serum samples with excellent recovery and also opens up an attractive route to potential applications of the flexible nickel foam-based electrochemical sensor. Semiconductor photocatalysis is a green and environmentally friendly antibiotic wastewater treatment technology without secondary pollution. In this paper, a series of montmorillonite (MMT) samples loaded with Cu, Mn, and Ni were prepared by impregnation method. The structure and spectral response of the as-prepared samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, laser Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy, UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV–Vis DRS), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and photocurrent response test. The photocatalytic degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) was carried out under simulated solar irradiation, and the photocatalytic properties of MMT samples with different loads were investigated. The characterization results show that Cu and Mn have strong interaction with MMT, and composite photocatalyst Cu 10 Mn 10 -MMT has the smallest Nyquist arc and higher photocurrent intensity. Degradation experiments on TCH showed that Cu 10 Mn 10 -MMT had the best photocatalytic degradation, with a degradation rate of 79.78%, three times that of the original MMT. Active substances capture experiments showed that h + and O 2 . − were the main active substances for the degradation of TCH by Cu 10 Mn 10 -MMT. After the combination of Cu, Mn, and MMT, the band structure changed, resulting in more h + and O 2 .− involved in the redox reaction, thereby improving the photocatalytic degradation performance of TCH. In this work, a promising photocatalyst is used to efficiently and greenly degrade antibiotic wastewater.

This study presents a facile electrodeposition and annealing procedure for the fabrication of Ni-Mo-Cu catalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction . Cu addition augmented the surface area and conductivity, while the synergistic effect of the three elements enhanced the intrinsic catalytic activity. After annealing in a vacuum at 300 °C, a dense Cu-Ni solid solution was formed on the catalyst surface, which improved the distribution of components and led to a significant improvement in corrosion resistance . Compared to the directly deposited Ni-Mo catalyst, the annealed Ni-Mo-Cu catalyst exhibited a reduced overpotential of 143 mV to generate a current density of 10 mA cm −2 in 1 M KOH at 25 °C, and its corrosion current density diminished from 0.21 to 0.035 mA cm −2 in 0.5 M NaCl at 25 °C.

Dynamic deformations at extreme strain rates (>10 6 /s) are frequently encountered by metallic structural materials. According to continuum theory, increasing the modulus and thus speed of sound in metallic materials could lead to enhanced impact resistance, while such goals are difficult to achieve via conventional alloying methods. On the other hand, recent researches have revealed that carbon materials such as graphene have far larger in-plane speed of sound than metals and therefore are intrinsically impact resistant. In this work, graphene/copper (Gr/Cu) nanolaminates were fabricated by incorporating graphene into copper matrix, and its ballistic performance at extreme strain rates (∼3 × 10 7 /s) was quantified via laser-induced projectile impact tests (LIPITs). The specific energy dissipation of Gr/Cu nanolaminates is found to be 54 % higher than Cu. Post-mortem analysis revealed that graphene nanoinclusions could cause additional coordinative deformation in regions surrounding the perforation zone in Gr/Cu, leading to enhanced ballistic performance of Gr/Cu nanolaminates.

This work reports the synthesis of a series of carbon supported Pt-Pd-Cu (Pt-Pd-Cu/C) nano-catalysts for formic acid oxidation. The trimetallic catalysts were prepared by a one-pot protocol through reduction of Pt, Pd and Cu ions using ethylene glycol and sodium citrate as the reducing and stabilizing reagents. XRD characterization suggests that Pt-Pd-Cu alloys with different lattice parameters can be successfully prepared through adjusting the atomic ratios of Pt, Pd and Cu ions in the precursor solutions. The average crystal sizes of the Pt-Pd-Cu/C catalysts are in the range of 2.7-3.1 nm. TEM images shows that the metallic nanoparticles are well dispersed on the carbon surface, with Pt 1 Pd 3 Cu 3 /C catalyst showing obvious aggregation. XPS was carried out to analyze the surface compositions, as well as the chemical states of the novel metals in the catalysts. The real atomic ratios of the metals in the catalysts based on ICP-OES evaluation are consistent with the stoichiometric values. Electrochemical analysis suggests that the activities the Pt-Pd-Cu/C catalysts towards formic acid oxidation are dependent on the composition of the catalysts, with Pt 1 Pd 4 Cu 2 /C exhibiting the best performance. A mass normalized peak current density of 3.02 A/mg (Pt+Pd) was observed on Pt 1 Pd 4 Cu 2 /C catalyst.

The hydrogenation of methyl formate to methanol is considered one of the most effective methods for recycling methyl formate products. We recently developed a highly efficient and cost-effective Cu-SiO2catalyst using the ammonia-evaporation (AE) method. The Cu-SiO2-AE catalyst demonstrated superior performance, achieving a methyl formate conversion of 94.2% and a methanol selectivity of 99.9% in the liquid product. The catalyst also displayed excellent stability over a durability test of 250 h. Compared to the commonly used Cu-Cr catalyst in the industry, the Cu-SiO2-AE catalyst exhibited higher conversion of methyl formate and methanol yield under the same reaction conditions. Characterization results revealed a significant presence of Si-OH groups in the Cu-SiO2-AE catalyst. These groups enhanced the hydrogen spillover effect and improved hydrogenation efficiency by preventing sintering during the reaction to stabilize the Cu species. The strategy employed in this study is applicable to the rational design of highly efficient catalysts for industrial applications.Keywords:Cu-SiO2catalyst;hydrogenation of methyl formate;methanol;catalyst stability

Cu/N co-doped TiO 2 nanopowder was prepared with a facile sol–gel method. In the absence of stabilizing agents, the co-doped nanopowder with nanoscaled particle sizes was obtained. Doping didn’t change the anatase crystal structure of TiO 2 . Cuprite Cu 2 Cl(OH) 3 formed in the co-doped nanopowder. Based on ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) data, the mechanisms of significantly improved photocatalytic activity of the co-doped nanopowder were discussed. The antibacterial evaluation and cytotoxicity test suggested the nanopowder inhibited bacteria significantly under visible light and had ultralow cytotoxicity. This work provided a promising antibacterial agent with potential biomedical applications.

Since limitedly existing researches suggested Cu(II) had deficiently catalytic ability to PAA, in this work, we tested the oxidation performance of Cu(II)/PAA system on diclofenac (DCF) degradation under neutral conditions. It was found that overwhelming DCF removal could be obtained in Cu(II)/PAA system at pH 7.4 using phosphate buffer solution (PBS) compared to poor loss of DCF without PBS, and the apparent rate constant of DCF removal in PBS/Cu(II)/PAA system was 0.0359 min − 1 , 6.53 times of that in Cu(II)/PAA system. Organic radicals (i.e., CH 3 C(O)O• and CH 3 C(O)OO•) were evidenced as the dominant contributors to DCF destruction in PBS/Cu(II)/PAA system. PBS motivated the reduction of Cu(II) to Cu(I) through chelation effect, and then the activation of PAA by Cu(I) was facilitated. Besides, due to the steric hindrance of Cu(II)-PBS complex (CuHPO 4 ), PAA activation was mediated from non-radical-generating pathway to radical-generating pathway, leading to desirably effective DCF removal by radicals. The transformation of DCF mainly experienced hydroxylation, decarboxylation , formylation and dehydrogenation in PBS/Cu(II)/PAA system. This work proposes the potential of coupling of phosphate and Cu(II) in optimizing PAA activation for organic pollutants elimination .
