Three-dimensional (3D) SERS substrate with the denser “hotspots” is synthesized by the constriction of PDMS film decorated with sandwiched [email protected] @graphene ( [email protected] @G) nanostructure . Graphene layers above and below the AgNPs are used to absorb molecules onto the “hotspots”, and prevent the oxidation of AgNPs in our design. PDMS films can be easily shrunk for 3D structures, causing advantages in enhancement ability and light-matter interaction. Benefiting from the above advantages, a detection limit of 10 −14 M (CV) and enhancement factor (EF) of 3.9 × 10 9 were obtained in our experiment. Theoretical analyses (FDTD) were also used to study the enhancement mechanism. For practical purposes, in-situ detection of MG molecules on the fish surface and the label-free detection of DNA base of adenine (A) and cytosine (C) were also studied. The high enhancement factor, great sensitivity, reliability, and stability of substrate reasonably proved that it can be used as an excellent SERS substrate for biomolecular detection.

Abstract As application scenarios and usage conditions become increasingly complex, traditional indium tin oxide materials are limited in meeting diverse application demands due to their low flexibility and high cost. This study proposed a ternary nanocomposite strategy combining zero-dimensional AgNPs, one-dimensional AgNWs, and two-dimensional graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets to fabricate transparent conductive films (TCFs) with excellent environmental stability and optoelectronic properties, suitable for applications such as Joule heating, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding, and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) devices. By growing AgNPs in situ on the surface of GO, combined with a simple solution-processing technique and integration with silver nanowires (AgNWs), this study developed GO-AgNP/AgNW TCFs featuring a dual-layer structure. Test results showed that the TCF achieved a sheet resistance of 2.98 Ω/sq, a light transmittance of 78.6% at 550 nm, a haze of 11.5%, and a figure of merit of 0.0302 Ω−1. The TCF also exhibited outstanding environmental stability, with no significant change in resistance after 50 days of aging tests. When used as a Joule heating device, it reached a maximum temperature of 110 °C under a working voltage of 2.5 V, demonstrating a fast thermal response. As an EMI shielding device, it achieved a shielding effectiveness of 27 dB in the X-band (8.2−12.4 GHz). Notably, when employed as the anode in OLED devices, the GO-AgNP/AgNW TCF enabled excellent electroluminescent performance, achieving a maximum luminance (Lmax) of 10,000 cd/m2, a maximum current efficiency (C.E.max) of 12.4 cd/A, a maximum power efficiency (P.E.max) of 5.6 lm/W, and a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQEmax) of 3.7%. This work provides a scalable approach for developing TCFs with simple fabrication processes, superior environmental stability, and multifunctionality, effectively meeting the demands of complex and dynamic application environments.

An indirect surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) approach based on an MB-Mo-AgNPs probe system was developed to quantify aqueous KH 2 PO 4 standard solutions. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), methylene blue (MB), and ammonium molybdate served as the SERS substrate, Raman reporter, and phosphate-responsive reagent, respectively. All concentrations were expressed as KH 2 PO 4 mass concentrations. Across 0.0625–10 mg L −1 KH 2 PO 4 , the MB bands near 1400, 1470, and 1626 cm −1 decreased with increasing concentration. UV–Vis spectroscopy, qualitative dried-state transmission electron microscopy, dynamic light scattering, and zeta-potential measurements supported changes in the probe’s colloidal state, particle association, and interfacial environment, consistent with a possible indirect signal-modulation pathway. These measurements did not establish a specific molecular mechanism or demonstrate MB desorption. The dataset comprised 2040 spectra from 51 independently prepared physical samples at 17 concentrations. In physical-sample-level grouped training–validation–test rotations, the 40 replicate spectra per sample remained within one subset, preventing sample overlap. Single-peak linear regression was compared with full-spectrum partial least squares regression, support vector regression (SVR), a conventional one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN), and an attention-enhanced 1D-CNN. The full-spectrum models yielded lower errors than single-peak linear calibration. SVR achieved the lowest quantitative error among the compared models, with an RMSE of 0.0072 ± 0.0010 mg L −1 across three grouped rotations. In the prespecified grouped analysis, the attention-enhanced 1D-CNN yielded lower quantitative error than the conventional 1D-CNN. The results apply only to aqueous KH 2 PO 4 standard solutions and do not validate total-phosphorus determination, real-wastewater analysis, or performance in external matrices.

In this study, an electrochemical sensor for the specific detection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ( P. aeruginosa ) was developed using an F23 aptamer-functionalized nitrogen-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes (N doped-MWCNTs) and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) composite. Systematic optimization of the Ag/C ratio revealed that a 1:10 composition delivers superior electrochemical performance, owing to synergistic effects between highly dispersed AgNPs and efficient nitrogen doping. Then a biosensor was constructed based on a three-electrode system, featuring a screen-printed electrode (SPE) modified with optimized N-doped MWCNTs/AgNPs-10/F23 aptamer as the working electrode. The structural and compositional characteristics of the sensor materials were systematically characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The electrochemical performance was evaluated through cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to assess the conductivity and charge transfer properties of the electrode materials. The sensor exhibited a wide linear detection range from 10 −1 to 10 6 CFU·mL −1 and the limit of detection is 0.0798 CFU·mL −1 , demonstrating high specificity and sensitivity for P. aeruginosa . This study demonstrates a novel strategy for developing cost-effective, portable biosensors with exceptional selectivity for bacterial pathogen detection, offering significant potential for real-time environmental monitoring and point-of-care diagnostic applications.

A three-dimensional surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate based on graphene nanofoam (GNF)/AgNPs hybrid nanostructure has been prepared using a typical liquid phase reduction synthetic method. The synthesized materials which utilized the three-dimensional framework structure of NF with micropore diameter 50–500 μm were illustrated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) images. Meanwhile, the NF was coated with graphene oxide (GO) evidenced by energy dispersive spectra (EDS) images. In addition, the composite was modified with Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) whose average size was about 500 nm. The preparation process is very economic and environmental-friendly. The SERS experiment of hybrid nanostructure substrate using Rhodamine 6 G (R6G) as probe molecules showed that the concentration of GO aqueous solution and the Ag NPs growth time were two key factors to determine the intensity of SERS signal and the limit of detection of the hybrid nanostructure is as low as 1 × 10−8 M. 30 different test areas were selected to evaluated the homogeneous SERS platforms, and the RSD is only 8.2%, indicating highly uniformed and reproducibility. In summary, the three-dimensional (3D) substrates by a simple method showed a good sensitivity, stability and reproducibility, and it is promising for application in the field of rapid trace molecule detection in the realistic environment.

In this work, a nanocomposite film, designated as CS/PA, was fabricated by integrating chitosan (CS), porphyrinic porous coordination network (PCN), and silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). PCN modified AgNPs was denoted as PCN-AgNPs (PA). The synthesis of PA was verified through transmission electron microscope, Zeta potential, hydrated particle size, element mapping. Furthermore, varying concentrations of PA (0.3 %, 0.4 %, 0.5 %, and 0.6 % w /w) were integrated into the CS matrix to preparate the CS/PA nanocomposite film. The experimental data demonstrated a significant enhancement ( p < 0.05) in the tensile strength and elongation at break of the nanocomposite films, while water vapor permeability and water solubility significantly decreased (p < 0.05) as the PA content increased. Additionally, the CS/PA film showed good antibacterial properties against both gram-positive ( Staphylococcus aureus ) and gram-negative ( Escherichia coli ) bacteria. Notably, the CS/PA film effectively retarded the spoilage of fresh fish slices. The silver migration from the CS/PA film, measured at 33.02 μg/L, was found to be within the permissible limits set by the USEPA. Consequently, the CS/PA nanocomposite film holds immense promise for applications in food packaging industry.

Silk sericin is a protein from a silkworm’s cocoon. It has good biocompatibility, hydrophilicity, bioactivity, and biodegradability. However, sericin could not be used in biomedical materials directly because of its frangible characteristic. To develop multifunctional sericin-based materials for biomedical purposes, we prepared a sericin/agar (SS/agar) composite film through the blending of sericin and agar and repetitive freeze-thawing. Then, we synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) in situ on the surface of the composite film to endow it with antibacterial activity. Water contact angle, swelling and losing ratio, and mechanical properties analysis indicated that the composite film had excellent mechanical property, hydrophilicity, hygroscopicity, and stability. Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis confirmed the successful modification of AgNPs on the composite film. X-ray powder diffraction showed the face-centered cubic structures of the AgNPs. This AgNPs modified composite film exhibited an excellent antibacterial capability againstEscherichia coliandStaphylococcus aureus. Our study develops a novel AgNPs/sericin/agar composite film with enhanced mechanical performance and an antimicrobial property for potential biomedical applications. Keywords:silk sericin;agar;silver nanoparticles;antimicrobial activity

Fabrication of metal-enhanced fluorescence (MEF) system with stimuli responsive “soft” shells is an efficient means to achieve tunable MEF behavior. In this article, pH responsive fluorophores modified polyacrylic acid (PAA) with tunable chain length was synthesized via reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization using a rhodamine B (RB) functionalized RAFT agent, followed by the immobilization onto silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) via Ag–S coordination interaction to afford core–shell nanohybrids with AgNPs core, PAA shell and RB fluorophores on the surface. TEM and XPS analysis revealed that the polymer was successfully linked onto AgNPs surface. Our results revealed that the fluorescent intensity of AgNPs/polymer core–shell nanohybrids was sensitive extremely to the environmental pH values. All the maximal fluorescence intensities were observed at around pH 2, but slightly different. The maximal fluorescent intensity at pH 2 increased with the increasing polymer chain length first and then decreased. When the degree of polymerization (DP) of polymer was designed at 150, the maximal MEF was obtained. The size change of the core–shell nanohybrids with different environmental value was also supported by DLS analysis, which also manifested that the tunable MEF behavior was sensitive to the distance between the AgNPs and fluorophores. These pH responsive AgNPs/polymer core–shell nanohybrids may envision potential applications in drug delivery, sensors and nanodevices.

A novel silver nanoparticles (AgNPs)/chitosan composite dressing with asymmetric wettability surfaces was successfully prepared via a simple two-step method for biomedical applications as wound healing materials. First, AgNPs were assembled into the chitosan sponge which was prepared by lyophilization process. Then one side of the sponge was modified by a thin layer of stearic acid. The incorporation of AgNPs into chitosan dressing could enhance the antibacterial activity against drug-sensitive and drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria. The asymmetric surface modification endows the dressing with both highly hydrophobic property and inherent hydrophilic nature of chitosan. The hydrophobic surface of the dressing shows waterproof and antiadhesion for contaminant properties, whereas the hydrophilic surface preserves its water-absorbing capability and efficiently inhibits the growth of bacteria. Furthermore, the AgNPs/chitosan composite dressing displays improved moisture retention and blood clotting ability compared to the unmodified dressings. Cytocompatibility test evaluated in vitro and in a wound infection model illustrates the nontoxic nature of the composite dressing. More importantly, the in vivo wound healing model evaluation in mice reveals that the asymmetric AgNPs/chitosan dressing promotes the wound healing and accelerates the reepithelialization and collagen deposition. The silver accumulation in mice body treated by the composite dressing is far lower than that of the clinically used Acasin nanosilver dressing treated mice. This work indicates the huge potential of the novel AgNPs/chitosan wound dressing with asymmetrical wettability for clinical use.

Antibacterial textiles cannot prevent the dirty liquid containing bacteria from passing through the fabrics to reach the human skin, and cannot effectively protect human health. To enhance the antibacterial function of the fabric, a dual-function cotton fabric with hydrophobic and antibacterial properties, cotton@PDA@AgNPs@ODA, was prepared via in situ surface assembly of polydopamine (PDA), Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) and octadecylamine (ODA). Polydopamine (PDA) was deposited on raw cotton fabric. AgNPs were introduced to the surface PDA coating of the fabric by in situ reduction of AgNO 3 with reducibility of catechol moieties in PDA. Subsequently, octadecylamine (ODA) was grafted onto PDA by Michael addition/Schiff base reaction. Water contact angle of Cotton@PDA@AgNPs@ODA was 130° at 10 min of drop contact time, showing good hydrophobicity. The antibacterial rates of Cotton@PDA@AgNPs@ODA against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were above 99%, and the modified fabric had good bacterial liquid shielding function. Furthermore, the PDA/AgNPs/ODA coating had good fastness under washing, mechanical abrasion and strong acid/alkaline conditions.

Objective To prepare polylactic acid microneedles (PLAMNs) with sustained antibacterial effect to avoid skin infection caused by traditional MNs-based biosensors. Methods Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized using an in-situ reduction process with polydopamine (PDA). PLAMNs were fabricated using the hot-melt method. A series of pressure tests and puncture experiments were conducted to confirm the physicochemical properties of PLAMNs. Then AgNPs were modified on the surface of PLAMNs through in-situ reduction of PDA, resulting in the formation of PLAMNs@PDA-AgNPs. The in vitro antibacterial efficacy of PLAMNs@PDA-AgNPs was evaluated using agar diffusion assays and bacterial liquid co-culture approach. Wound healing and simulated long-term application were performed to assess the in vivo antibacterial effectiveness of PLAMNs@PDA-AgNPs. Results The MNs array comprised 169 tiny needle tips in pyramidal rows. Strength and puncture tests confirmed a 100% puncture success rate for PLAMNs on isolated rat skin and tin foil. SEM analysis revealed the integrity of PLAMNs@PDA-AgNPs with the formation of new surface substances. EDS analysis indicated the presence of silver elements on the surface of PLAMNs@PDA-AgNPs, with a content of 14.44%. Transepidermal water loss (TEWL) testing demonstrated the rapid healing of micro-pores created by PLAMNs@PDA-AgNPs, indicating their safety. Both in vitro and in vivo tests confirmed antibacterial efficacy of PLAMNs@PDA-AgNPs. Conclusions In conclusion, the sustained antibacterial activity exhibited by PLAMNs@PDA-AgNPs offers a promising solution for addressing skin infections associated with MN applications, especially when compared to traditional MN-based biosensors. This advancement offers significant potential for the field of MN technology.

Concanavalin A (ConA), as a carrier for immobilizing antibodies, was used for the first time in electrochemical immunosensor. In this work, a label-free electrochemical immunosensor based on Ag nanoparticles-reduced graphene oxide (AgNPs-rGO) nanocomposite and ConA was successfully prepared to detect arsanilic acid (ASA). AgNPs-rGO nanocomposite displayed superior conductivity and redox capability. Specially, ConA showed excellent binding ability with monoclonal antibody of ASA through lectin-sugar interactions. Under the optimized conditions, the proposed electrochemical immunosensor showed a linear dependence over ASA concentrations ranging from 0.025 ng/mL to 25 ng/mL with a low detection limit of 0.011 ng/mL. Furthermore, the immunosensor was used to monitor ASA in chicken and egg with good precision and accuracy. In conclusion, the simple and low-cost immunosensor was desirably applied as a useful candidate for detection of ASA in animal derived food.
