Exceeding 13% Power Conversion Efficiency of Cu(In,Ga)(S,Se)2 Thin-Film Solar Cells with AgNWs/TiOx Composite Transparent Conductive Window Layer

Yongliang Lai,Bowen Liu,Dongdong Shen,Zhuoer Deng,Xinan Shi,Daocheng Pan

Indium tin oxide (ITO) is usually served as the transparent conductive electrode of Cu(In, Ga)(S, -Se) 2 (CIGSSe) solar cells. However, ITO is fabricated by sputtering method, which will increase the cost of CIGSSe solar cells and prevent its large-scale market applications in the future. Hence, it is particularly important to develop low-cost transparent conductive window layers to replace the traditional ITO. Silver nanowires (AgNWs) are considered to be the most promising alternative to ITO. Compared with sputtered ITO, AgNWs have the advantages of high transmittance, low cost, and easy fabrication. Nevertheless, the poor adhesion and stability of AgNWs can prevent the transportation of carriers of CIGSSe solar cells. Here, we select amorphous TiO x as an adjuvant to fabricate AgNWs/TiO x composite transparent conductive layer to substitute the traditional ITO. Under the assistance of TiO x matrix, not only the connection, adhesion, and stability of AgNWs are greatly enhanced, but also the surface roughness of AgNWs is also reduced. The influence of AgNWs concentration on the performance of CIGSSe solar cells is investigated. When the AgNWs concentration is 2.5 mg/mL, the transmittance and sheet resistance of AgNWs thin film are 93.35% and 93 Ω/sq, respectively, and the devices achieved the highest efficiency of 13.59%.

AgNWs/TPU based Joule heating and strain sensing yarn with temperature visualization through the coordinated regulation of multiple conductive pathways for physical exercise and health monitoring

Tao Yan,Xiaole Tao,Hong Lei,Yang Qiu,Zirui Han,Kaitai Wei,Bin He,Yuting Wu,Zhijuan Pan

Flexible heating/strain sensing fiber devices have wide potential application in the fields of the real-time monitoring performance of human movement and physiological information and thermal management. However, there are still shortcomings in multi-functional integration and information visualization. In this work, the hollow thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU) nanofiber yarn was constructed by conjugate electrospinning technology, and Joule heating/strain sensing yarn was developed by continuous conductive treatment and twisting technology. Finally, the thermochromic sheath layer was constructed on the surface of the composite yarn to prepare the Joule heating/strain sensing yarn with the visible temperature(VHSY). The results showed that VHSY can detect both tensile and bending deformation. The excellent dynamic/static stability and durability were obtained as a flexible strain sensor. The GF values reached 23.08 in the strain range of 30 % and 170.02 in the strain range of 30 % to 50 %, respectively. In addition, VHSY exhibited a reversible color change of yellow-gray-blue-purple in the range of 25–60 °C, and the stable static and dynamic electric heating performance was obtained. The response times of heating and cooling temperature were 9.95 s and 10.62 s, respectively. VHSY held the excellent visualization function and strain sensing performance after 20 washes. This sensor has great potential applications for physical exercise and health monitoring. The work offers a novel strategy for the design of multifunctional yarn-based wearable devices and smart textiles.

An iontronic flexible pressure sensor based on a multistage gradient micro-dome structure with a broad sensing range for wearable devices

Hongwei Zhang,Dong Yang,Qiang Long,Zihao Yan,Huishan Zhang,Tianxu Zhang,Yanbo He,Xin He,Weiqiang Hong,Yunong Zhao,Xiaohui Guo

In recent years, despite the extensive evolution of capacitive flexible pressure sensors, conventional capacitive pressure sensors are constrained by structural hardening, resulting in a limited pressure-response range. Here, an iontronic flexible pressure sensor based on a multistage gradient micro-dome structure was reported. The multistage gradient structure not only enhances the compressibility of the device, but also reduces the initial contact area. In addition, the sensor uses AgNWs as electrode materials to ensure that excellent electrical conductivity is maintained over a certain strain range, while polyvinyl alcohol and [BMIM]BF4 are employed as ionic layers to improve the performance of the ionic materials. The sensor achieves a maximum sensitivity of 8.1 kPa−1 within a pressure range of 2.1 Pa–600 kPa, and a fast response/recovery time of 25/20 ms. Moreover, it repeats compression/release 3000 times at a pressure of 26 kPa without significant signal drift. The sensor can identify different sitting positions and monitor laryngeal activity in wearable devices with strong repeatability and dynamic response recovery, enabling users to adjust incorrect sitting postures in a timely manner.

Long-term infrared stealth at Joule heating of AgNWs/bacterial cellulose/carbon fibers fabric by mimicking beetle elytra multi-layered composite structure via synergistic effect of emissivity and thermal regulation

Yu Sike,Bao Yan,Zhang Wenbo,Gao Lu,Guo Ruyue,Liu Chao,Ma Jianzhong

Developing a textile capable of achieving infrared stealth under Joule heating conditions is critical for enhancing the operational effectiveness and survivability of combat troops in challenging climates. Here, a novel type of silver nanowires/bacterial cellulose/carbon fibers composite fabric (ABCF) inspired by the multi-layered structure of beetle elytra and the dual-mode thermal management system was designed for infrared stealth at Joule heating via a facile sewing method. The introduction of an inner layer consisting of carbon fibers serves as an effective heater producer, demonstrating excellent Joule heating performance (~ 210 °C at 3 V). The interlayer made from bacterial cellulose aerogel exhibits thermal insulation properties (0.028 W/m·K) and flexibility, functioning as a barrier that mitigates heat transfer through its layer-stacking structure under directional thermal conduction. Meanwhile, the upper layer comprised of silver nanowires provides low emissivity (~ 0.15) and cooperates with the aerogel to achieve infrared stealth. As a result, ABCF achieves both a significant reduction in thermal radiation temperature for targets and long-term infrared stealth stability (~ 55 °C maintained for 8400 s), with experimental feasibility validated through COMSOL simulations. Impressively, ABCF has been effectively utilized in the construction of tents, further highlighting its potential for multifunctional applications in the field of thermal management.
