Ionizing radiation in space causes various damage to electronic devices in spacecraft and thus affects the normal conduct of space exploration missions. Therefore, it is urgent to develop radiation shielding materials with excellent radiation shielding properties to improve the anti-radiation ability of electronic devices. In this work, Lewis base-modified perovskite as a functional filler was prepared using the ligand-assisted reprecipitation method, and the influence of electron transferring induced by the modification with Lewis bases on the radiation shielding properties of materials was investigated. For the TAA-Cs 4 PbBr 6 /EP composite material, the XPS results show that the binding energy of the Pb 4f 5/2 orbital electrons after TAA modification decreases from 143.1 eV to 142.8 eV. The theoretical calculation results show that the valence electron density of Pb modified by TAA has increased by 0.0167. Under the trade-off of the two effects of reduced electron binding energy and increased electron density, the radiation shielding efficiency of the material increased from 43.2 % to 46.4 %. The radiation resistance of the encapsulated MOSFET was investigated. TAA-MOS shows a lower threshold voltage offset of 1.55 V than that of the CPB-MOS (2.29 V) and Bare-MOS (3.36 V), indicating that the radiation shielding properties of TAA-Cs 4 PbBr 6 /EP have been significantly improved after modification. This study provides a new strategy for developing high-efficiency radiation shielding materials.

Quantum-confinement-based blue CsPbBr 3 perovskite quantum dots (PeQDs) have attracted significant research interest in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) due to their outstanding optoelectronic properties, solution-processability, and free from spectral separation. However, their performance lags behind due to low film quality, high trap density, and mismatched carrier transporting. To address these issues, a bifunctional-additive interface engineering is proposed on in situ formed blue Cs 4 PbBr 6 heterostructured CsPbBr 3 (CsPbBr 3 @Cs 4 PbBr 6 ) PeQDs. The introduction of glycine, with an amino group and a carboxyl group, enables the PeQD film high surface uniformity and photoluminescence quantum yield up to 51.6% from mere 14.1% with a peak wavelength at 489 nm, but low trap density and matched transporting of electron and hole. Surprisingly, glycine-treated PeQD films show significantly enhanced stability against air and ultraviolet lamp exposure. Experimental results and density functional theory calculations reveal that the carboxyl group contributes to maintaining the quantum confinement effect, while the amino group promotes optical emission due to its strong binding ability. Furthermore, the resulting CsPbBr 3 @Cs 4 PbBr 6 PeQD-based LEDs demonstrate outstanding performance, with an increase by a factor of 10 in external quantum efficiency to 5.8% and of 13 in operating life to 405 s. This study offers a straightforward approach for developing high-performance blue PeQD LEDs.

Crystal silicon solar cells being the most successful photovoltaic devices have prevailed in the energy market for decades. To further improve the device performance, photon management is necessary. Herein, a CsPbBr 3 –Cs 4 PbBr 6 perovskite quantum dot@ZnO/ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer downshifting composite film is coated on the silicon solar cell. This downshifting composite film helps to convert high-energy (UV-blue) photons to relatively low-energy photons with a wavelength at about 500 nm, which possess higher sensitivity in silicon solar cells. The effects of tetra- n -heptylammonium bromide and Zn(C 2 H 5 ) 2 on composition, optical and luminescence properties of perovskite quantum dots are thoroughly investigated, and a clean quantum dot solution with strong luminescent intensity can be obtained. The perovskite quantum dot@ZnO/ethylene vinyl acetate composite film absolutely improves the efficiency of silicon solar cells by 1.18%. The value is much higher than pure ethylene vinyl acetate (0.42%) and composite film without ZnO (0.57%). Moreover, ZnO inclusion can inhibit Cs and Pb leakage and maintain the device working stability, which is helpful for their commercial application in the future. This study further reveals that the enhancement lies in carrier relaxation energy loss reduction. Herein, a low-cost downshifting composite film with excellent environmental stability for silicon solar cells applications is proposed.

Metal halide perovskites are promising optoelectronic materials due to their outstanding luminescent properties. However, the instability of perovskites has long been the bottleneck to their practical applications. Here Cs 4 PbBr 6 nanocrystals based glass composite (Cs 4 PbBr 6 NCs@glass) are successfully prepared, which displays green emission color (520 nm), narrow bandwidth (23 nm) and a near-unity photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY). The H 2 O molecules permeating in the lattice of Cs 4 PbBr 6 were found to be a crucial role in the subband energy emission. The Cs 4 PbBr 6 NCs@glass has excellent emission stability; maintains 93 % of initial PL intensity after ultraviolet light irradiation for over 5000 h. In addition, by adjusting the halogen content, we have achieved tunable emission color from blue (450 nm) to green (520 nm) and red (670 nm) on Cs 4 PbX 6 NCs@glass (X = Cl, Br, I), which covers up to 127 % of the National Television Systems Board (NTSC) standard system. Our finding indicates the commercial applications of perovskite materials in lighting and display.

Waveplates are widely used in photonics to control the polarization of light 1 , 2 . Often, they are fabricated from birefringent crystals that have different refractive indices along and normal to the crystal axis. Similar optical components are found in the natural world, including the eyes of mantis shrimp 3 , 4 and the iridescence of giant clams 5 , fish 6 and plants 7 . Optical retardation in biology relies on sophisticated self-assembly, whereas man-made systems comprise multiple-layered materials 8 , 9 , 10 , 11 . Here we report a discovery that bridges these two design principles. We observe wideband achromatic retardation in the visible and near-infrared (532–800 nm) regions for Cs 4 PbBr 6 perovskite crystals embedded with CsPbBr 3 nanocrystals. We explain our observations as matched dispersions of the refractive indices of the ordinary and extraordinary rays caused by the ordered embedding of the nanocrystals in the host. The wideband performance and ease of fabrication of these perovskite materials are attractive for future applications.
