Mixed halogen CsPbI x Br 3-x nanocrystals (NCs), as indispensable materials for pure red light applications, are widely used in high-definition displays due to their excellent optoelectronic proporties. However, the traditional hot-injection synthesis requires high temperature and inert gas protection, which brings challenges for large-scale development. Herein, we propose a novel spontaneous crystallization approach to synthesize pure-red-emitting perovskite NCs at room temperature using the environmentally friendly strong polar solvent isopropanol (IPA) as an anti-solvent. Meanwhile, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane (APTES) surface modifier was introduced to obtain the silica coating layer through spontaneous hydrolysis reaction. The prepared CsPbI 2 Br/SiO 2 composite NCs exhibit a pure red emission peak at 632 nm with a FWHM of 32 nm and a photoluminescence QY of 44%. Furthermore, the use of APTES reduces the sensitivity of iodide ions to moisture and oxygen at room temperature, thereby suppressing phase separation of CsPbI 2 Br induced by distortion in the perovskite structure and enhancing its stability. Our work provides a meaningful approach for the batch synthesis of perovskite NCs at room temperature in environmentally friendly solvents.

Hole transporting layer (HTL)-free, carbon-based all-inorganic CsPbI 2 Br perovskite solar cells have attracted great attention with suitable band gap, excellent thermal stability, low manufacturing cost and simplified procedure processes. Focusing on issues including energy level match and contact between the carbon electrode and the perovskite layer that limit the device performance, passivation strategies are widely applied on the interfaces within perovskite solar cells. Herein, the effect of synergistic passivation of ethylammonium iodide (EAI) and phenethylammonium iodide (PEAI) on all-inorganic perovskite (CsPbI 2 Br) solar cells is studied for the first time. Results indicate that α-/δ-phase heterojunction and localized 2D/3D heterojunction formed on the CsPbI 2 Br film surface tend to reduce the trap density and promotes the energy level gradient arrangement. In addition, EA + ions enter into the lattice and passivate the bulk phase defects of perovskite. As a result, the synergistic passivated devices (active area 0.0706 cm 2 ) exhibit an increased PCE from 11.74% to 13.76% and a high fill factor (FF) of 80.32%, as well as promising long-term stability.

The inorganic perovskite solar cells (PSCs) exhibit superior thermal stability to the organic-inorganic hybrid PSCs. However, halide defects with low formation energy are often present at grain boundaries of the inorganic perovskite films. This results in many defects of Pb 2+ uncoordinated with halides, causing in non-radiative recombination in the films. In this work, cesium fluoride (CsF) was chosen as an additive in the CsPbI 2 Br precursor solution, in which Cs + can passivate the A-site vacancy defects in CsPbI 2 Br perovskite films; fluoride ion (F − ) has a smaller ionic radius and is more electronegative than chloride ion (Cl − ), iodide ion (I − ), and bromide ion (Br − ), which may allow it to fit in the smaller spaces in the host lattice, as well as weaken the lattice strain and improve the stability of the desired phase. Based on this strategy, CsF-treated carbon-based hole-transport-layer-free CsPbI 2 Br PSCs were obtained with a champion photovoltaic conversion efficiency of 13.45 %, short-circuit current density of 15.15 mA/cm 2 , open-circuit voltage of 1.18 V, and fill factor of 75 %. Meanwhile, the CsF-treated CsPbI 2 Br PSCs possessed better environmental stability compared to the un-treated counterpart due to the introduction of the more hydrophobic F − . This strategy provides a simple and feasible strategy for the development of efficient and stable inorganic PSCs.

Perovskite quantum dots (PQDs) are promising interface modification materials for perovskite solar cells (PSCs). However, due to the limitation of the preparation method, it is hard to use PQDs as substrates for the growth of perovskite films by the common solution process. In this work, by introducing the rare earth element Ce into PQDs with the vacuum freezing and drying technology, we have successfully improved the solvent stability of PQDs. Moreover, we propose a technology, PQD dynamically mediated growth of perovskite film (PDMG), to prepare high-quality perovskite films, which can avoid the formation of PQD charge-blocking layers. Thanks to the improvement of perovskite crystallinity and the charge transport ability, the PCE is improved from 10.44% to 12.14% for CsPbI2Br PSCs and from 14.43% to 16.38% for CsPbI3 PSCs. Our work opens an avenue for using PQDs as substrates in the fabrication of highly efficient PSCs.

Hybrid heterostructure formation between perovskite and transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDCs) provides an effective approach to alter the optical and electronic properties of pure monolayer TMDCs, thus is quite promising for photonic and photoelectronic applications. However, a feasible method to produce high quality perovskite/TMDCs heterostructures with controllable thickness and scalability is still lacked. Here, we demonstrate a non-destructive approach to construct the vertical heterostructures of CsPbI 2 Br/TMDC via dual-source thermal evaporation of thickness tunable CsPbI 2 Br films on monolayer TMDC. The type-II band alignment between CsPbI 2 Br and monolayer WSe 2 or WS 2 results in fast charge separation and quenching of photon emission intensity. The carrier transfer efficiency and rate of CsPbI 2 Br/WSe 2 heterostructures can reach as high as 88% and 3.3 * 10 9 s −1 , respectively. The ultra-fast and efficient charge transfer/separation shows that formation of hybrid heterostructure via deposition of perovskite on TMDC layers is of great significance for the outstanding optoelectronic device applications. More importantly, a broad low energy peak is observed below 174 K for the CsPbI 2 Br/TMDC heterostructures, which is probably induced by the interlayer exciton . Our findings provide a platform for exploring interlayer coupling and related physical processes in perovskite/TMDC heterostructures.

All-inorganic CsPbI x Br 3-x perovskite solar cells (PSCs) exhibit excellent thermal stability and high efficiency, but their power conversion efficiency (PCE) remains lower than that of organic–inorganic hybrid PSCs. This is primarily due to the significant open-circuit voltage (V oc ) loss at the buried interface of electron transport layer (ETL) and perovskite film. Moreover, low-temperature processed TiO 2 ETL simultaneously suffers from more trap-states which will deteriorate the PCE and stability of PSCs. To solve these issues, zinc acetate (Zn(OAc) 2 ) is employed to optimize the TiO 2 /CsPbI 2 Br buried interface to reduce the V oc loss and improve the PCE and device stability. This Zn(OAc) 2 interfacial modification0020increases the V oc about 90 m V from 1.159 V to 1.248 V. Consequently, Zn(OAc) 2 -modified CsPbI 2 Br PSCs (Target I-PSCs) achieve a champion PCE of 14.91 % with a fill factor over than 80 %, which is significantly higher than the 12.25 % of reference I-PSCs. A series characterizations confirm that the improved performance is attributed to the increased electrical conductivity of the modified TiO 2 film, the passivated defects on the TiO 2 surface and the uncoordinated Cs + /Pb 2+ traps at the bottom of CsPbI 2 Br film, as well as the optimized the energy level alignment to facilitate electron transport and collection. This work provides a feasible strategy to fabricate efficient and stable CsPbI 2 Br I-PSCs by modifying the TiO 2 /CsPbI 2 Br buried interface by Zn(OAc) 2 .

Defects in perovskite films not only challenge the efficiency and stability improvement of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), but also serve as electronic dopants that impact interface energetics and charge-transfer kinetics. To address this issue, herein, we introduced a natural additive into a perovskite precursor to improve the inorganic CsPbI2Br film quality. Arising from the strong interaction between passivation molecules and undercoordinated Pb2+ in the perovskite, the reduction in defects results in effective n-type de-doping of the inorganic CsPbI2Br perovskite surface, concomitantly forming an n/n− homojunction at the top perovskite/carbon interface for accelerating charge extraction and suppressing carrier nonradiative recombination in a carbon-based PSC. Consequently, a cutting-edge efficiency as high as 15.0% was achieved with reduced hysteresis in addition to significantly improved long-term stability for a 65 days storage period in the air (94.74% efficiency retention rate) and persistent light irradiation for over 230 hours in N2 (∼82% efficiency retention rate).

Carbon-based inorganic CsPbX3 (X = I, Br, Cl) perovskite solar cells (PSCs) are attracting great attention in the photovoltaic field because of their low cost, simple process, and superior thermal stability. However, the large difference in energy band between the CsPbX3 and carbon electrode leads to the poor hole extraction and unfavorable charge recombination, thus deteriorating device’s efficiency. In this work, a solution-processed dopant-free tin phthalocyanine (SnPc) film is used as a hole-transport layer (HTL) to fabricate carbon-based CsPbI2Br PSCs by a low-temperature process. At the optimal process, the device achieves a maximum efficiency of 11.39% with less hysteresis, which is much higher than 9.22% of reference device without the SnPc HTL. Moreover, the unencapsulated device exhibits the improved stability and remains about 90% of its initial efficiency after 30 days in ambient air (20–25 °C) with 25–35% relative humidity (RH). This finding reveals that the solution-processed dopant-free SnPc HTL can significantly promote charge transport and suppress charge recombination at the CsPbI2Br/carbon interface. This work provides a low-temperature and solution-processed method to fabricate the efficient and stable carbon-based inorganic PSCs.
