As a tripeptide molecule widely present in living organisms, glutathione (GSH) exhibits remarkable antioxidant and detoxification effects, and is involved in important physiological processes such as amino acid transport and cellular metabolism. Electrochemical detection can accurately and sensitively determine the GSH content in biological samples, which provides an important basis for early diagnosis, disease assessment and termination monitoring. In this study, ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) was grafted onto the framework of MOF-808 through the strategy of post-synthetic modification, which effectively increased the number of metal affinity active sites on the material. Furthermore, silver ions were abundantly and firmly chelated on MOF-808-EDTA through coordination, and an electrochemical sensing platform (MOF-808-EDTA-Ag/GCE) was successfully constructed for detecting GSH. Due to the solid-state signal amplification effect of AgCl, the current signal (I Ag ) can be significantly improved, while GSH preferred to competitive binding with Ag on the electrode surface, resulting in the extrusion effect caused by competitive coordination, thus the current signal decreased. The sensor realized the quantification of GSH through the decline level of current response, showing a satisfactory linear range (0.02 nM∼20 μM) and a low detection limit (0.013 nM). At the same time, the sensing platform has also been successfully used to measure the GSH content in human serum and urine, the recovery results (95.9 % ∼ 108.8 %) and relative standard deviation (RSD < 4.05 %) were all within the acceptable range, which exhibited an excellent practical application value.

Direct synthesis of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) from CO2 and CH3OH holds significant economic and environmental value. Numerous catalysts have been employed for this reaction, yet further enhancement of its activity requires a deeper understanding of the catalyst's structure-activity relationship and catalytic mechanism. In this study, we utilized structurally well-defined and highly tunable MOF-808 as a research platform. Functionalizing MOF-808 with ethylenediamine (MOF-808-ED) boosted the space time yield of DMC from 3.25 mmol·g-1·h-1 to 7.23 mmol·g-1·h-1. Experimental results demonstrate that the reaction involves acid-base synergistic catalysis, where an appropriate balance of acid-base sites content is crucial for CO2 and CH3OH to produce DMC, as it facilitates the formation of the key intermediates (CH3OCOO*). Additionally, the nucleophilicity of N is stronger than that of O, further promoting the catalyst's enrichment and activation of CO2. Finally, employing in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) testing, we elucidated the mechanism by which the MOF-808-ED catalyst, with -NH2 as base sites and Zr as acid sites, facilitates the synergistic catalysis of the reaction. This study provides insights into the synergistic effects of acid-base sites on the synthesis of DMC from CO2 and methanol, offering valuable guidance for the development of high-performance catalysts.

Co-extraction of multiple types of target substances is the key to achieve high throughput detection. In this work, PDA@MOF-808/PAN NFsM was prepared by co -modified polyacrylonitrile nanofiber membrane (PAN NFsM) with polydopamine (PDA) and metal-organic framework-808 (MOF-808), and its potential as a solid-phase extraction (SPE) adsorbent was investigated by using the most typical nine veterinary drug residues in eggs and chicken as model target substances. The results show that PDA@MOF-808/PAN NFsM could effectively co-extract all the target substances (adsorption efficiency ranged from 81.46 % to 96.78 %), and had good capability of sample matrix purification (matrix effect was lower than −15.26 %), so a new SPE method has been established. Combined with UPLC-MS/MS, the detection limits were 0.3 to 3.1 μg/kg, the recoveries were between 71.02 % and 106.48 %, and the relative standard deviations were lower than 12.03 %, indicating that the method has considerable good sensitivity, accuracy and precision.

Existing air filtration materials suffer from short service life, limited load capacity, and lack of multifunctional properties such as chemical degradation resistance. To address these limitations, this study combined electrostatic-assisted solution blow spinning (E-SBS) with in situ growth of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) to produce a scalable MOF-808@polyvinylidene fluoride/dopamine 2 (MOF-808@PVDF/DA2) micro/nanofiber composite membrane. The multiscale PVDF/DA micro-nanofiber composite membrane produced via electrostatic-assisted solution blow spinning exhibits small pore size (0.67 μm) and high porosity (92.23 %). Following dopamine (DA) modification and MOF-808 loading, the membrane exhibits outstanding filtration performance (filtration efficiency: 99.98 %, quality factor Q f : 0.129 Pa −1 ), long-term dust-holding capacity (dust-holding capacity up to 22.9 g m −2 ), and excellent catalytic degradation performance (98.7 % degradation rate within 30 min). Notably, the MOF-808@PVDF/DA2 membrane exhibits high air permeability (158 mm s −1 ), effectively reducing energy consumption during filtration. After multiple cycles of use, filtration efficiency remains as high as 98 %, demonstrating a long service life. This study proposes an innovative strategy for designing next-generation protective materials that integrate filtration and catalytic detoxification functions.

Influenza poses a severe threat to global public health, with viral neuraminidase (NA) serving as a key target for antiviral drug development. However, the poor stability of free NA and low targeting efficiency of conventional screening approaches render the screening of NA inhibitors from complex traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) matrices a major unresolved challenge. Herein, a cross-linker-free in situ precipitation strategy was developed to immobilize NA on MOF-808 via ammonium sulfate induction, leveraging the synergistic effect of electrostatic and hydrophilic interactions to achieve an enzyme capacity of 19.1 mg·g −1 . Notably, the moderate agglomeration of MOF-808 particles forms a unique “protective cage” structure, which can effectively preserve the native conformation of NA and facilitate the local enrichment of substrates at the enzyme active sites. MOF-808@NA was further employed as an affinity sorbent for ligand fishing from the extract of Mahuang-Xixin-Fuzi Decoction (MXF), a clinically used TCM formula, and 12 potential NA inhibitors were successfully captured and identified via HPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS. The activity evaluation results demonstrated that, compared with the crude MXF extract, the MOF-808@NA-enriched fraction exhibited a 26-fold enhancement in NA inhibitory potency with an IC₅₀ of 0.18 mg·mL −1 , as well as a 2.4-fold improvement in cellular antiviral efficacy against influenza A/H1N1 with an EC₅₀ of 0.70 mg·mL −1 . This work verifies that the developed cross-linker-free in situ precipitation strategy enables the efficient and targeted screening of bioactive components from complex TCM matrices, thereby providing a highly promising technical tool for the targeted discovery of novel antiviral drugs derived from natural products.

The presence of the toxic synthetic precursor and degradation product, 4-aminophenol (4-AP), in acetaminophen (ACOP) formulations poses significant health risks, necessitating robust analytical methods for quality control. Herein, a novel electrochemical sensor was developed based on a composite material synthesized by growing MOF-808 in situ on silver nanowires (AgNWs) via a one-pot method. The MOF-808/AgNWs composite synergistically combines the properties of both components, resulting in a sensor with excellent performance: wide linear ranges (0.1–400 μM), low detection limits (0.0175 μM for 4-AP and 0.0561 μM for ACOP), and high selectivity and stability. At the same time, the sensor also showed outstanding repeatability, reproducibility, stability and selectivity. The method was successfully applied to determine both analytes in pharmaceutical tablets and environmental water samples, achieving satisfactory recoveries. This work provides a simple, rapid, and highly sensitive platform for monitoring ACOP and 4-AP, holding great promise for pharmaceutical and environmental applications.

PIL modification tailors MOF-808 pore environment and CO 2 -affinitive sites. • PIL-modified MOF-808 improves filler-Pebax interfacial compatibility. • PALS reveals reduced FFV in PIL-modified MOF-808/Pebax MMMs. • The optimized MMM surpasses the 2008 CO 2 /N 2 Robeson upper bound. • CO 2 solubility gain outweighs diffusivity loss despite reduced free volume. Carbon capture is an important strategy for mitigating climate change, and membrane-based CO 2 separation offers advantages such as low energy consumption, operational simplicity, and continuous operation. Incorporating metal-organic frameworks (MOF), improving the interface between MOF and polymers, and introducing sites with CO 2 affinity are effective approaches for enhancing mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) performance. In this study, poly(ionic liquid) (PIL)-modified MOF-808 fillers were synthesized through in situ polymerization and incorporated into Pebax membranes. The PIL modification adjusted the pore environment of MOF-808, introduced imidazolium and -COOH groups, and strengthened interactions between the filler and Pebax, thereby restricting Pebax chain mobility. The optimized MMM exhibited a CO 2 permeability of 124.57 Barrer at 0.1 MPa and 35 °C, with CO 2 /N 2 selectivity surpassing the 2008 Robeson upper bound and CO 2 /CH 4 selectivity also substantially improved. Positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy (PALS) revealed a reduction in fractional free volume compared with pristine Pebax, while time-lag analysis showed a corresponding decrease in gas diffusivity. In contrast, the CO 2 solubility coefficient increased markedly because of the CO 2 affinity introduced by PIL. The increase in CO 2 solubility was larger than the loss in diffusivity, leading to enhanced CO 2 permeability and selectivity despite reduced free volume. By combining PALS with time-lag analysis, nanoscale free volume evolution was connected with diffusion and solubility contributions. These results show that PIL-modified MOF-808 changes the balance between diffusivity and solubility in MOF/Pebax MMMs and clarify why CO 2 transport can be improved even when free volume and diffusivity decrease. Background Iodide (I − ) serves as a key indicator for monitoring 131 I contamination in marine environments. However, rapid on-site detection remains challenging due to the short half-life of radionuclides and the complex nature of seawater. Traditional nanocatalysts exhibit limited catalytic activity under near-neutral conditions and poor selectivity in high-salinity environments. There is therefore an urgent need to develop a robust, instrument-free analytical platform that can meet on-site environmental monitoring requirements by combining high sensitivity with operational simplicity. Results In this study, Mn-modified MOF-808 (Mn/MOF-808) nanozymes were synthesised using a sustainable aqueous post-synthetic approach. The incorporation of Mn centers significantly altered the electronic structure of the MOF nodes, resulting in exceptional peroxidase-like activity across a wide pH range (3.5-8.0). We found that I − acts as a potent synergistic amplifier, greatly accelerating the catalytic oxidation of chromogenic substrates. The sensing system achieved an ultra-low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.63 nM for I − . To enable point-of-care testing (POCT), we developed a smartphone-integrated platform using a customised WeChat mini-program for digital image colorimetry. The test results showed no significant deviation from those obtained using the standard ICP-MS method. Significance This work presents a cost-effective ($0.104/test), rapid, and user-friendly approach for I − monitoring. The Mn/MOF-808 platform demonstrates superior anti-interference capability in various environmental water samples and simulated seawater (recoveries: 96.5%-103.2%). By bridging advanced nanozyme engineering with mobile digitization, this research offers a practical and scalable solution for real-time environmental monitoring and emergency diagnostics of radioactive contaminants, aligning with the principles of green analytical chemistry.

This study extends the development of a Graphene oxide@Zirconium-based metal-organic framework@Deep eutectic solvents (GO@MOF-808@DESs) through hydrothermal self-assembly using zirconium chloride and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid (H 3 BTC), subsequently functionalized with four carbon-tailored fatty acid-based deep eutectic solvents (DESs) via ultrasonic impregnation. Comprehensive characterization of GO@MOF-808@DES confirmed the successful surface modification via DES. A dispersive micro-solid phase extraction(D-μSPE) method was established employing GO@MOF-808@DESs as an adsorbent for efficient removal of residual entacapone (ETCP) and tolcapone (TCP) from water. Optimization of the D-μSPE method revealed optimal conditions at pH 9.0, with a sample volume of 40 mL, an adsorbent dosage of 20 mg, and an adsorption time of 60 min. Under these conditions, the method achieved a significant adsorption capacity of 86.50 ± 4.79 mg/g for ETCP and 126.21 ± 2.72 mg/g for TCP. Mechanistic investigation revealed chemically dominated adsorption kinetics through pseudo-second-order modeling and Langmuir isotherm fitting. Concurrently, density functional theory (DFT) studies demonstrated that the synergistic effect between carboxyl-mediated hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interactions led to enhanced adsorption performance. The engineered GO@MOF-808@DESs based D-μSPE method demonstrated superior performance in removing ETCP and TCP from river water matrices, achieving 99.67 % and 99.24 %, respectively. Meanwhile, a sensitive and reliable method for trace-level monitoring of ETCP and TCP residues in environmental waters was successfully proposed, employing GO@MOF-808@DESs-based D-μSPE coupled with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). This study presents a robust strategy for fabricating high-performance GO@MOF-808@DESs composite materials, demonstrating significant potential for practical applications.

In this article, we use defect engineering approach to fine-tune the pore size of MOF-808-SO 4 . A series of defective MOF-808-SO 4 with different pore size were prepared by varying the amount of isophthalic acid as the defective ligand during the synthesis. We obtained a linear correlation between the concentration of the defective ligand and the pore size via regression analysis. The pore size exerts a significant effect on the catalytic activity in the addition reaction of isobutylene with ethylene glycol. The highest conversion of ethylene glycol was found over MOF-808-20%-SO 4 (2.25 nm) with the largest pore size, whereas MOF-808-5%-SO 4 (1.46 nm) and MOF-808-10%-SO 4 (1.53 nm) exhibited higher selectivity toward ethylene glycol mono-tert-butyl ether. There is a linear correlation between the pore size and catalytic activity only when the pore size ranges from 1.4 to 2.0 nm. MOF-808-15%-SO 4 with the pore size of 1.99 nm exhibits the highest yield of ethylene glycol mono-tert-butyl ether.

Concerns over health risks associated with mixed pesticide residues have led to a demand for rapid analytical methods. We present a portable surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) device specifically designed for real-time monitoring of indoxacarb (INDX) and chlorfenapyr (CFP) in vegetable juice. This point-of-use sensor integrates silver nanoparticles with a metal-organic framework (Ag/MOF-808(Zr)) and employs a 19-well quartz plate alongside a portable Raman spectroscopy instrument, facilitating simultaneous adsorption, separation, and detection. Detection limits for INDX and CFP in ginger and spinach juices were 0.26–0.76 ppb. Notably, results closely matched those from liquid chromatography, and in-situ detection was achieved within 2 min without pre-treatment, significantly enhancing efficiency over conventional chromatographic methods. This innovative approach demonstrates substantial potential for detecting pesticide mixtures in non-laboratory settings, presenting a valuable option for point-of-use applications.

Fructose is an essential raw material for the biorefinery industry and can be produced from glucose via catalytic isomerization; however, efficient separation to obtain high-purity fructose from glucose/fructose mixed solution remains a challenge. In this study, MOF-808 with a 6-connected Zr6 node was employed as an adsorbent, and its adsorption and separation performances for fructose and glucose were investigated. MOF-808, whose pore size is 1.42 nm, exhibited a high adsorption selectivity factor of 17.8 for fructose. The adsorption process reached equilibrium within 5 h, and the adsorption capacity reached 362 mg g−1. We propose that the larger pore size MOF-808 exhibited higher selectivity for fructose than the previously reported NU-906 (1 nm) due to the increase in the number of zirconium (Zr) open metal sites, enhancing the selectivity of the pore environment and consequently expelling glucose from the pore. This hypothesis was verified by the adsorption selectivity of fructose and glucose in various defect concentrations of UiO-66, which acted as a tunable framework. In addition, the column packed with MOF-808 showed excellent performance, with an adsorption selectivity of 5.0 in the breakthrough experiment. This study demonstrated that MOF-808 with abundant Zr open metal sites could efficiently separate glucose and fructose, which can inspire the design of adsorbents for fructose purification.
