In this paper, using borosilicate glass was used as the base glass, using La 2 O 3 ,CeO 2 simulated trivalent and tetravalent lineage actinide nuclides, study the interaction between La 2 O 3 and CeO 2 in borosilicate and the properties of the cured body, and obtain the borosilicate cured body sample by solid melting method. By XRD, SEM-EDS, FTIR test results showed that adding CeO 2 at the fixed La 2 O 3 content will reduce the packing capacity of borosilicate glass to La 2 O 3 , but adding La 2 O 3 at the fixed CeO 2 content will increase the packing capacity of borosilicate glass to CeO 2 . Density tests showed that adding CeO 2 at the fixed La 2 O 3 content will increase the cured body density and then decrease, but adding La 2 O 3 at the fixed CeO 2 content will only increase the cured body density all the time. The results of 28 days of leaching experiments showed that the leaching rate of Ca and Si elements was kept at 10 –4 dot product in all samples, while the leaching rate of La and Ce elements remained at 10 –6 dot product or even lower, indicating the good chemical stability of the cured body.

Reducing the size of active species is a powerful means to improve the utilization rate of active metals and enhance the properties of bimetallic nanozymes. In this work, Fe was introduced into Ce-MOF through the coordination of Fe 3+ and organic ligands, and the coordination effect resulted in atomically dispersed Fe in the derived Fe/CeO 2 nanozyme. Due to the atomically dispersed Fe embedded in the lattice of CeO 2 , a large number of defect sites were generated, endowing the nanozyme with excellent peroxidase (POD)-like activity. The constructed total antioxidant capacity (TAC) sensor based on the POD-like activity of Fe 1.01 /CeO 2 nanozyme displayed a very wide linear concentration range for AA, Cys, Glu and Trolox. More importantly, this TAC sensor can be applied to the TAC detection in vitamin C tablets and beverages. This work provides theoretical guidance for the synthesis of high-performance bimetallic nanozymes for TAC detection.

There is an urgent need for efficient and cost-effective adsorbents for the removal of trace hydrogen phosphide (PH 3 ) from the circular hydrogen systems in the polysilicon chemical vapor deposition furnaces. In this study, a straightforward and cost-effective method was used to synthesize a highly efficient adsorbent (Ce x -Cu y /TiO 2 ) for PH 3 removal using TiO 2 as the carrier and CuO as the active substance. Experimental findings demonstrated that optimal Ce doping amounts (n Cu :n Ce = 20:1) markedly enhanced the adsorbent's performance, with an adsorption capacity reaching as high as 149.14 mg g −1 . Material characterization results indicated that Ce positively influenced the uniform dispersion of Cu on the TiO 2 surface, and Ce doping increased the adsorbed oxygen content of the adsorbent, consequently enhancing its oxidation performance. The investigation of the reaction mechanism and causes of adsorbent deactivation revealed that the depletion of active substances (CuO) in the adsorbent and the accumulation of products such as Cu 3 P and phosphates are the primary factors contributing to its deactivation. Furthermore, high-temperature calcination could restore the activity of the adsorbent, indicating its great potential for engineering applications.

Monochloroacetic acid (MCAA) is identified as a highly carcinogenic disinfection by-product in chlorinated drinking water. In this study, a series of CeO 2 -supported Pd catalysts (Pd/MCeO 2 ) were synthesized through one-step calcination of Pd-loaded Ce-UiO-66-BDC (Ce-MOF), and the liquid-phase catalytic hydrodechlorination of MCAA was explored using these catalysts. For comparison, Pd/CeO 2 catalysts were additionally synthesized using the conventional impregnation method. The characterization results reveal that the catalysts exhibit strong metal–support interaction, leading to high Pd dispersion and Pd n + content. Additionally, the calcination temperature significantly influences catalytic performance, with the catalyst calcined at 500 °C (Pd/MCeO 2 -500) demonstrating the highest catalytic activity and achieving complete dechlorination of MCAA within 50 min. Furthermore, it is found that the catalytic MCAA hydrodechlorination using the catalysts adheres to the Langmuir–Hinshelwood model. Accordingly, low reaction pH is favorable for the catalytic hydrodechlorination of MCAA, enhancing MCAA adsorption on the catalyst surface due to the electrostatic interaction between MCAA and the catalyst surface. Theoretical results suggest that the presence of Pd n + efficiently facilitates MCAA adsorption and C–Cl cleavage, thus significantly enhancing the liquid-phase catalytic hydrodechlorination. n -Butanol, a volatile organic compound with relatively low toxicity, requires precise detection for public health and environmental safety. In this research, metal-organic framework (MOF)-ZnO nanostructures (zinc oxide nano-materials with the utilization of metal-organic frameworks as precursors) doped with rare earth elements (Ce, Eu, and Er) were synthesized via a homogeneous co-precipitation route. The produced samples were comprehensively characterized employing X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and UV-vis spectroscopy to evaluate the morphological, structural, and optical characteristics. The gas-sensing capabilities of the RE (Ce, Eu, Er)-ZnO series of sensors were subsequently assessed in comparison to those of pristine MOF-ZnO by adjusting the doping type and ratio of rare earth elements to optimize the sensor performance. Among the materials tested, the 0.08 wt% Eu-ZnO sensor exhibits the best-of-breed sensitivity and selectivity, achieving the impressive response value of 616.11 and the detection limit of 361.52 ppb working at 230 °C under 100 ppm of n- butanol exposure, this achievement attains 8.7 times greater than that of pristine MOF-ZnO (70.72). Moreover, with the aid of ultraviolet excitation, the performance of the 0.08 wt% Eu-ZnO sensor is further enhanced, with the sensitivity response elevating to 1000.65 and 4.3 times greater than that of pristine MOF-ZnO (231), leading to the lower detection limit of 259.70 ppb at 220 °C. These findings underscore the significant potential of rare earth incorporation and UV irradiation playing as the synergistic strategy to augment the gas-sensing capabilities, preeminently in the detection of low-concentration volatile organic compounds.

Catalytic medicine, using enzymes or nanozymes, is an emerging method for cancer treatment. However, its applicability is limited by the low catalytic activity in the tumor microenvironment (TME). In this work, a versatile and synthesis-friendly nanozyme, CeO 2 Mn 1.08 O x nanoclusters, is prepared. This novel Ce─Mn heterojunction is formed by oxidation of CeO 2 nanoparticles through H 2 SO 4 /KMnO 4 . CeO 2 Mn 1.08 O x exhibits high multi-enzymatic catalytic activities and acts as a catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD), and oxidase (OXD) mimics under acidic conditions. It can regulate the TME by relieving hypoxia and consuming endogenous glutathione (GSH). Glucose oxidase (GOx) is then incorporated into CeO 2 Mn 1.08 O x and linked with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) to obtain the cascade enzyme system (Ce─Mn)-PEI/GOx-PEG. CeO 2 Mn 1.08 O x exhibits CAT-like properties, which sensitize GOx-based starvation therapy, and POD- and OXD-like properties, which generate highly cytotoxic reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cancer cells. The glucose catabolic product, H 2 O 2 , is also used to generate O 2 and ROS. In addition, the heterojunction structure provides CeO 2 Mn 1.08 O x with near-infrared (NIR) photothermal capability, making it suitable for photothermal therapy (PTT). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations provide possible reasons for the high catalytic activity and photothermal capability of CeO 2 Mn 1.08 O x . When combining mild PTT with catalytic therapy, the cascade enzyme system (Ce─Mn)-PEI/GOx-PEG can efficiently ablate tumors.

Dry methane reforming (DRM) represents a highly promising approach to greenhouse gas conversion (CO 2 and CH 4 ) to valuable byproducts. However, severe carbon deposition and catalyst deactivation inhibit large-scale applications. The work designed new catalysts with a yolk-shell structure using the water-in-oil microemulsion method. The catalysts were composed of a yolk-shell structure, with Ni-M as the active point and silica as the shell. The catalytic performance evaluation indicates that the Ni-M @SiO 2 catalysts show higher CH 4 and CO 2 conversion compared with the Ni@SiO 2 and conventional catalysts at 750 ℃, suggesting the yolk-shell structure and added M species enhance the DRM activity. The XRD, HRTEM, XPS, BET, H 2 -TPR, and CO 2 -TPD analysis confirmed the existence of yolk-shell configuration and evident electronic effect among Ni, M species, and SiO 2 . The long term measurements indicate that the added M species also bring higher carbon deposition tolerance for DRM, where Ni-Ce@SiO 2 and Ni-Zr@SiO 2 exhibit good structural and catalytic stability for DRM over 100 h. Through XRD, TEM, and TGA characterizations of the exhausted catalysts, it is determined that the coke deposition resistance of the catalyst is improved as a result of increased oxygen mobility and enhanced Ni dispersion on the catalytic surface, both of which are enhanced by the added Ce species. The structural analysis of the spent catalysts indicates that the tolerance of carbon deposition is improved by the yolk-shell samples. This study can offer valuable insights for the development of Ni-based catalysts with exceptional carbon deposition capability for DRM.

The Cu-Ce modified SAPO-34/ZSM-5 (S-Z) composite molecular sieve catalysts were synthesized via a stepwise crystallization process using triethylamine (TEA) and tetraethylammonium hydroxide (TEAOH) as dual templates. This method significantly reduces the crystallization time from 24 hours to 12 hours. The incorporation of metal ions alters the structure and acid strength of the molecular sieves, thereby decreasing the rate of coke formation during the reaction, which in turn extends the catalyst's lifetime. Experimental results demonstrated that the catalyst's lifetime increased progressively with the addition of Ce. In the methanol-to-olefin reaction, the catalytic lifetime of the S-Z/Cu 0.05 -Ce 0.05 samples reached 1440 mins, approximately 480 mins longer than that of the S-Z samples, while maintaining a selectivity for low-carbon olefins at around 89.6%.

Improving the catalytic efficiency and catalyst life of Pt/Al 2 O 3 catalyst for methylcyclohexane dehydrogenation is of great significance for the study of organic liquid hydrogen storage. In this work, the promotion effects of Ga and Ce on the substantial improvement of catalytic stability and activity over the Pt / Al 2 O 3 during the methylcyclohexane dehydrogenation were investigated. The catalyst with optimizing Ga and Ce loading (1.5 wt%) exhibits ∼99.76 % selectivity and H 2 evolution rate of 2102 mol/g Pt /min at 300 °C. In 100 h long-time reaction, the conversion of methylcyclohexane remains around 75 % with no significant decrease. The characterization results show that introducing proper amount of Ga and Ce helps Ga 3+ cations incorporate into the lattice structure of CeO 2 that increase concentration of oxygen vacancies and CeO 2 reducibility in the catalyst, which boost the capability of methylcyclohexane dehydrogenation and tolerance for coke formation. Thus, the excellent stability and activity are achieved over the GaCe-modified catalyst. This study may share new light on the rational construction of highly efficient Pt-based catalysts for methylcyclohexane dehydrogenation.

Phosphor-in-glass film (PiG-film) displays great potential for high performance laser-driven white lighting, benefiting from its facile fabrication and high efficiency. However, the low thermal conductivity of the glass matrix may lead to thermal quenching of phosphors and limit the maximum luminous flux of the light source . Here, boron nitride (BN) with high thermal conductivity and low absorption coefficient was embedded into Y 3 Al 5 O 12 :Ce PiG-film to facilitate the heat-transfer process, and to regulate the propagation of both laser and fluorescence. The influences of BN particle size and doping concentration on surface morphology (pore formation), luminescence saturation threshold (LST), luminous flux, and the spatial distribution of correlated color temperature (CCT) were investigated and correlated. Moreover, the luminescence spot confinement was analyzed and luminous exitance was obtained. Benefiting from the formation of effective BN heat-transfer network, the luminous efficacy of both YAG-45-2 % and YAG-45-1 % films surpass the non-doped one as laser power density >19.00 W/mm 2 . A LST higher than 27.04 W/mm 2 was observed in YAG-45-2 % film, more than 42 % higher than the non-doped one. Though the extra reflection of blue laser by BN particles downgrades the CCT spatial distribution uniformity, the particles strongly scatter the fluorescence and restrict the fluorescence-emitting spot (diameter) expansion from 307 to 174 μm, and a high luminous exitance of 1614 lm/mm 2 was achieved in YAG-45-2 % film. These results firmly demonstrate that incorporation of particles with high thermal conductivity and low absorption coefficient in PiG-film is a feasible strategy for achieving high-brightness laser lighting.

The electrochemically upgrading sulfate to high-value persulfate (PS) offers significant potential but suffers from impaired selectivity due to competing oxygen evolution reactions (OER). Boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrodes serve as ideal anodes for PS electrosynthesis due to their wide electrochemical window, low adsorption propensity, and superior hydroxyl radical ( OH) generation capacity. Herein, we engineered BDD anodes via a facile one-pot deposition-calcination strategy to construct a Ce 0.1 Sn 2.2 Sb 0.25 O x catalytic layer, dramatically enhancing OH production. The modified electrode exhibited substantially elevated oxygen evolution potential (increasing from 2.726 to 2.905 V vs. RHE), achieved a record Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 90.22 % for PS synthesis at 250 mA/cm 2 , and reached 66.7 μmol/min/cm 2 . The resulting PS solution was concentrated to 1.16 mol/L (15.3 wt%), the highest value reported to date for electrochemical PS synthesis. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies confirmed the significant augmentation in OH yields. The incorporation of Sb refined SnO 2 crystallites and strengthened H 2 O adsorption, whereas trace Ce doping markedly improved the stability of catalytic layer and facilitated electron transfer, as evidenced by only a 0.95 % activity loss after 30 successive electrolysis cycles. Mechanistic investigations reveal that the catalytic layer preferentially promotes the indirect oxidation pathways via OH mediation, leading to a marked increase in PS selectivity. This work establishes a simple, cost-effective, and scalable BDD modification strategy with significant industrial potential for electrochemical PS synthesis and waste sulfate resource valorization.

Apparent amylose content is a key determinant of rice flavor quality, yet traditional detection methods are often costly and time-consuming. To address this, we developed Ce-UiO66 nanozyme-based microfluidic paper-based analytical devices (μPADs) for the rapid quantification of apparent amylose. The sensing mechanism relies on the formation of a blue-purple apparent amylose-iodine complex via in situ catalytic oxidation, which is quantified through smartphone-based grayscale analysis. Mechanistic studies reveal that the catalytic activity of Ce-UiO66 is driven by O 2 − and H 2 O 2 intermediates. The tri-zonal design of the μPADs (droplet, reaction, and detection zones) effectively minimizes in situ reaction interference. Under optimized conditions, the method achieved a linear range of 0–40% within 15 min, showing excellent agreement with flow injection analysis. This Ce-UiO66@μPAD platform demonstrates significant potential as a low-cost, portable tool for rapid monitoring of apparent amylose in rice. Graphical abstract
