Guided by our previous finding of its antifungal activity,
46 derivatives
of evolitrine (from Orixa japonica )
were designed and synthesized to develop new fungicide candidates.
Their structures were confirmed via NMR, HRMS, and X-ray crystallography.
Antifungal activity results indicated that C2 exhibited
broad-spectrum activities against six plant fungi. Particularly, C2 showed remarkable antifungal activity on Verticillium dahliae (EC 50 = 2.31 μg/mL),
a 7-fold improvement over evolitrine (EC 50 = 16.5 μg/mL).
Mechanistic studies revealed that C2 disrupts hyphal
integrity and induces lipid peroxidation, evidenced by SEM, TEM, and
MDA assays. Additionally, C2 significantly downregulated
genes in cyanoamino acid, starch/sucrose, and phenylalanine metabolism.
Furthermore, C2 exhibited moderate control efficacy (36.4–54.4%)
against verticillium wilt on eggplant and tomato at 200 μg/mL
and was nontoxic to seedlings of eggplant/tomato and seeds of adzuki
beans/mung beans. These findings indicated that C2 could
be considered a potent novel antifungal candidate.

Electrochemical corrosion threatens microelectronics, especially when coolant leakage occurs in liquid cooling systems, potentially causing short circuits and rapid interfacial degradation. Here, we report an aggregation-induced emission (AIE)-active, stimuli-responsive acrylic resin (AR) copolymer incorporating tetraphenylethylene (TPE) (AR-TPE) designed to address this issue through an electro-ion-coupled assembly mechanism at corrosion-prone interfaces. The amphiphilic polymer AR-TPE, incorporating AIE moieties, undergoes ion-specific conformational transitions upon exposure to H + , Zn 2+ , and Cu 2+ , enabling both optical feedback and adaptive interfacial passivation. While H + and Zn 2+ induce compact aggregates and enhance fluorescence, Cu 2+ promotes loose conformations and quenches fluorescence via charge-transfer complex formation and coordination diversity. Electrochemical tests on Cu/Sn circuit boards demonstrate that AR-TPE forms protective coatings on metal anodes that suppress corrosion and maintain circuit integrity under prolonged electrical stress. Overall, our work establishes a design paradigm for electro-ion-coupled smart polymers that autonomously respond to operational stressors, integrating molecular sensing, adaptive morphology, and functional durability.

Radiation-induced oral mucositis (RIOM) is the most common complication in patients receiving radiotherapy for head and neck, to which ferroptosis is an important contributor. Transferrin receptor (TFRC) -mediated endocytosis is a critical source of iron. Accordingly, we proposed that inhibiting ferroptosis by disrupting TFRC mediated-iron uptake. In this study, we developed endosome-targeting self-assembling nanoparticles (CB NPs) integrated into a detachable microneedle patch (CBT@MNs) for precise and synergistic RIOM therapy. This system integrated the clinically conventional drugs chloroquine and baicalin and loaded into MN patch for mucosal drug delivery. In the tongue mucosa, the MN tips released CB NPs. Upon entering endosomes through the endocytosis pathway, CB NPs disrupted endosomal acidification through the proton sponge effect, which may block TFRC recycling, achieving long-term inhibition of ferroptosis and inflammation efficacy. In rat models of RIOM, CBT@MNs dramatically attenuated mucosal ulceration and accelerated healing via anti-inflammation, angiogenesis, and collagen deposition. Transcriptomic analysis further revealed that CBT@MNs suppressed ferroptosis and inflammatory signaling. This radioprotective strategy for inhibiting ferroptosis and regulating redox homeostasis provided a novel approach for designing tissue engineering materials.

Morphological control is essential in achieving high performance in polypropylene production, which can be attributed to the morphology replication effect of MgCl2-supported Ziegler–Natta catalysts (ZNCs). Although well-established models, such as the “sea urchin” crystallization theory developed by Chang et al., have successfully elucidated the internal crystallographic orientation, the mechanism of morphological formation of the hierarchical secondary particles still remains unclear. In our study, we use in situ imaging technology to observe the formation of ZNC particles in real-time in a synthesis environment. The following thermally driven crystallization mechanism was revealed in the experiment: liquid–liquid phase separation, initial nucleation and aggregation, crystals growth and solidification. From the SEM analysis, the morphology of the particle is unique botryoidal, or grape-like, and consists of 5 to 30 tightly fused primary units (3–8 µm) that assemble into secondary particles (15–25 µm). The control experiment shows that the invasive in situ probe neither interferes with the formation of the catalyst nor affects the types and distribution of the active sites, which enables us to observe the actual formation process of the catalyst particles. Finally, the propylene polymerization experiment produced polymer particles that perfectly replicated the botryoidal structure of the catalysts, achieving a particle size of 3 mm. The activity and stereoregularity control capabilities of the prepared catalysts are comparable to the commercial catalysts.

Bacterial infections remain a major challenge in the treatment of chronic diabetic wounds, primarily due to hyperglycemic conditions that favor microbial proliferation. Conventional hydrogels incorporating physically entrapped antibiotics are often limited by burst release and inadequate long-term antibacterial efficacy. To address this, we developed a covalently grafted antibacterial hydrogel system based on neomycin sulfate (N) conjugated to sodium alginate (SA) to form SA-N. This modified polymer was further combined with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and cross-linked via boric acid to establish an interpenetrating network structure, denoted as PBN hydrogels. Successful covalent conjugation of neomycin was verified by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. Rheological analysis under alternating strain demonstrated the hydrogel’s rapid self-healing behavior, a critical feature for dynamic wound environments. The PBN hydrogel exhibited strong broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, achieving inhibition rates of 98.03% against Staphylococcus aureus and 93.19% against Escherichia coli. Moreover, in a diabetic mouse wound model, treatment with the PBN hydrogel resulted in accelerated wound closure, reaching 96.59% after 21 days. Collectively, the PBN hydrogel demonstrates excellent biocompatibility, sustained antibacterial performance, and promising therapeutic potential for the management of chronic diabetic wounds.

Anastrozole and abemaciclib are clinically recommended in combination for the treatment of advanced breast cancer. However, the potential drug–drug interaction between them remains poorly characterized, posing a potential risk for altered drug exposure and toxicity. This study aimed to systematically investigate the effect of anastrozole on the metabolism and pharmacokinetics of abemaciclib. Using a combined in vitro and in vivo approach, we characterized this interaction via UPLC-MS/MS analysis of abemaciclib and its major metabolites (M2 and M20). In vitro enzymatic assays demonstrated that anastrozole significantly inhibits the metabolism of abemaciclib. Consistent with these findings, in vivo studies in female Sprague–Dawley rats showed that 7-day pretreatment with anastrozole prior to abemaciclib administration substantially decreased abemaciclib clearance, resulting in markedly increased systemic exposure (AUC0–t, AUC0–∞, and Cmax). Given that abemaciclib is predominantly metabolized by CYP3A4, we further examined whether genetic polymorphisms in this enzyme influence the observed interaction. Our results revealed that CYP3A4 genetic polymorphisms significantly modulate the inhibitory potency of anastrozole. These findings indicate that anastrozole acts as a CYP3A4 inhibitor, altering abemaciclib disposition in a genotype-dependent manner. This study highlights a clinically significant drug interaction with potential toxicological implications and provides a mechanistic basis for genotype-guided therapy in patients receiving this combination regimen.

The gas-phase catalytic dehydrofluorination of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) to hydrofluoroolefins (HFOs) is a critical pathway for HFC resource utilization. Aluminum fluoride (AlF3) derived from Al2O3 fluorination is an efficient catalyst for this process, with its performance strongly dependent on the hydroxyl content and oxygen vacancy concentration of the Al2O3 precursor. In this work, pseudoboehmite (AlOOH) was calcined at 400–600 °C to prepare Al2O3 precursors (AlOOH-T) with tailored hydroxyl contents, followed by fluorination to obtain AlF3 catalysts (AlOOH-T-F). Results showed that increasing the calcination temperature reduced the hydroxyl content and increased the oxygen vacancy concentration in AlOOH-T, leading to significant variations in crystallite size, specific surface area, and surface acid properties of the derived AlF3 catalysts. AlOOH-500-F, derived from AlOOH calcined at 500 °C (optimal hydroxyl and oxygen vacancy levels), exhibited the smallest crystallite size (13.9 nm), the largest specific surface area (21.2 m2·g–1), and abundant medium-strength Lewis acid sites. In the dehydrofluorination of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane (HFC-245fa), AlOOH-500-F achieved 75% conversion with no deactivation over 32 h of operation, outperforming catalysts derived from precursors calcined at 400 °C (AlOOH-400-F) and 600 °C (AlOOH-600-F). Further studies on the fluorination degree revealed that excessive fluorination enlarged AlF3 crystallite size and intensified surface acidity, accelerating coke-induced deactivation. Among the tested catalysts, AlOOH-500-5 achieved an HFC-245fa conversion of 80% with no deactivation trend observed over 192 h, demonstrating its excellent stability and potential for industrial applications. This work highlights the critical role of precursor hydroxyl content in tailoring the AlF3 catalyst structure and acidity, providing a practical guideline for designing industrially viable catalysts for HFC conversion.

Objective This study aims to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of Anemarrhenae Rhizoma (AR) in a rat osteoporosis (OP) model and elucidate its underlying regulatory network mechanisms mediating OP amelioration. Methods Transcriptome profiling through RNA sequencing was utilized to identify differentially expressed genes in rat femoral tissues. Serum metabolic alterations were quantitatively assessed by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry. A combined approach incorporating both transcriptomic and metabolomic datasets enabled the establishment of molecular interaction networks between metabolites and genes. Validation of crucial molecular targets was achieved via quantitative PCR and western-blotting technique, providing mechanistic insights into AR's anti-osteoporotic activity. Results AR treatment markedly alleviated ovariectomy (OVX)-induced femoral impairment, effectively suppressing bone resorption while enhancing bone formation, ultimately ameliorating OP progression. Transcriptomic and metabolomic profiling revealed that AR intervention significantly altered the expression profiles of 698 genes and 28 endogenous metabolites in OP rats. Through constructing interaction networks of differentially expressed genes and metabolites, we identified seven pivotal metabolites and six hub genes, which were found to modulate amino acid metabolism, lipid metabolism, and other bone metabolism-related pathways, forming a multi-omics regulatory axis underlying AR's therapeutic effects. Conclusion AR exerted therapeutic effects on OP in rat models through positive regulation of femoral transcriptional profiles and endogenous metabolites.

The actual performance of vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) is still significantly constrained by the slow kinetics and major parasitic reactivity of anode issues. Herein, a B-site management strategy of SrBO 3 ( B = Ti, Zr, Hf) perovskites was proposed to promote the anode reaction jointly explored by experiments and first–principle calculations. As the atomic number of B increases, the enhanced polarity of the B–O bond and the increased oxygen defect can boost the adsorption of vanadium ions, while the weakened orbital hybridization of the B–O bond facilitates the charge transfer of anode reaction. Compared with SrTiO 3 and SrZrO 3 , oversized particles and deformed crystals of SrHfO 3 reduce its catalysis. Of SrBO 3 perovskites, SrZrO 3 stands out in catalysis, owing to its outstanding combination of high hydrophilicity, large surface area, and desired crystal structure. Further, the VRFB using SrZrO 3 presents a superior energy efficiency (EE) of 63.2% at 300 mA cm –2 and an increase of 15% in EE compared with the pristine cell at 200 mA cm –2 . This work lays the foundation for building the connections between the structural and compositional flexibility and the tunable perovskite properties desirable for vanadium redox reactions.

Background: Formaldehyde is widely acknowledged as a carcinogen, but as an important organic reagent, it has also been widely employed in the fields of chemical synthesis, industrial production and biomedicine. It is therefore of great practical significance for the detection of formaldehyde
in food, clothing, daily necessities, construction materials and environments. Methods: The two silicon QDs, that are, DAMO-Si-QDs (with N-[3-(Trimethoxysilyl) propyl] ethylenediamine as silicon source) and APTMS-Si-QDs (with (3-Aminopropyl) trimethoxysilane as silicon source) as the
fluorescence probe to detect formaldehyde in both water and organic phases. Results: Silicon QDs prepared by different silicon sources exhibit an obvious difference in their tolerances to the environment and the responses to formaldehyde. However, APTMS-Si-QDs show better selectivity
in both water and organic phases. In Tris-HCl solution (20.00mmol•L-1, pH=5), the formaldehyde concentration maintains an excellent linear relationship with the fluorescence intensity of APTMS-Si-QDs in the range of 3.1250-7-3.1250-5 mol•L-1, with correlation coefficient R2= 0.9998.
In methanol, the formaldehyde concentration maintains an excellent linear relationship with the fluorescence intensity of APTMS-Si-QDs in the range of 1.5630-7-3.1250-5 mol•L-1, with correlation coefficient R2= 0.9992. Conclusion: It is found that DAMO-Si-QDs show poor response to
the presence of formaldehyde, while APTMS-Si-QDs got a strong, sensitive and selective response to that in both aqueous and organic phases. In the Tris-HCl buffer (20 mmol•L-1, pH=5), the linear range for formaldehyde detection reaches 3.1250-7-3.1250-5 mol•L-1, and for the detection
in the organic phase, the linear range reaches 1.5630-7-3.1250-5 mol•L-1, in methanol solution. The paper provides a sensitive, selective and simple means for formaldehyde detection in both aqueous and organic phase.

In this study, solvent-dependent emitting carbon dots (CDs) were synthesized by simple one-step hydrothermal treatment of o-phenylenediamine (oPD). The as-prepared carbon dots (o-CDs) exhibited multi-color emission and strict excitation-independent luminescence characteristics in different solvents. Moreover, multi-color emissive o-CDs/polymer films were achieved through integrating the o-CDs with different polymer matrices. Interestingly, our experimental results demonstrated that distinctive o-CDs can also be used as fluorescent probes directly for visual and quantitative detection of water in different organic solvents. These investigations broaden the application of CDs and provide an easy method to quantitatively detect the presence of water in organic solvents.

The detection of trace thiram is critically important due to its environmental persistence and biotoxicity. Conventional pesticide residue analysis faces fundamental limitations in sensitivity and accuracy due to low analyte recovery efficiency during sampling, making surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy an ideal solution for trace thiram monitoring. In this study, we developed a high-performance SERS substrate based on in-situ synthesized silver nanoparticle-decorated indium tin oxide (AgNPs/ITO) glass, fabricated via cyclic voltammetry electrochemical deposition. The substrate demonstrated exceptional sensitivity for standard probe molecules such as R6G, achieving an enhancement factor (EF) of up to 8.62 × 10 6 with excellent signal uniformity and universality. For pesticide detection, the substrate exhibited a remarkably low LOD of 0.55 μg/L for thiram and enabled effective in-situ identification of thiram residues on vegetable leaf surfaces, demonstrating robust capability for practical pesticide residue analysis.
