The development of high-performance and lightweight microwave absorption materials (MAMs) requires effective strategies such as constructing multicomponent hetero interfaces and integrating multiple loss mechanisms. In this study, a series of magnetic CoNi@CNT nanoparticles were synthesized via a solvothermal method followed by thermal treatment, with the metal source ratio (Co/Ni) systematically adjusted to optimize their microstructure and electromagnetic wave absorption properties. The sample with a Co/Ni molar ratio of 1:1 was identified as the optimal magnetic component. Furthermore, porous MXene (PMXene) was employed as a dielectric substrate and combined with Co1Ni1@CNT through electrostatic self-assembly to form a hierarchical PMXene/CoNi@CNT hetero structure with synergistic dielectric–magnetic properties. This architecture not only enhanced interfacial polarization through multicomponent heterointerfaces but also improved impedance matching and attenuation capability via magnetic loss from CoNi alloys and extended conductive networks from CNT/PMXene. As a result, the composite with a dielectric-to-magnetic ratio of 1:1 at a low filler loading of 8 wt % exhibited a minimum reflection loss (RLmin) of −50 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 4.3 GHz at a thickness of 1.5 mm, significantly outperforming pure PMXene (RLmin = −35 dB, EAB = 1.9 GHz). This work demonstrates the synergistic advantages of integrating MOF-derived magnetic components with two-dimensional dielectric substrates for high-efficiency microwave absorption, providing new insights into the design of advanced, lightweight electromagnetic functional materials.

The development of highly active catalysts and catalytic systems is crucial for the efficient valorization of lignin biomass. In this paper, a defective CoNi bimetallic MOF-303 catalyst was synthesized by adjusting the thermal reduction temperature and bimetallic ratio, demonstrating efficient catalytic performance in the aqueous-phase hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of vanillin to produce 2-methoxy-4-methylphenol (MMP). Under mild conditions (200 °C, 2 h, 0.5 MPa H 2 ), the Co 2 Ni 1 /M 460 catalyst achieves complete conversion of vanillin with an MMP yield of 90.42 %. Additionally, the catalyst exhibited high activity in the aqueous-phase HDO of lignin and other lignin-derived/model compounds. Remarkably, facilitated the depolymerization of lignin into low-molecular-weight aromatic compounds, predominantly MMP, via secondary catalysis (8 h). Characterization analyses revealed that the high activity of Co 2 Ni 1 /M 460 stems not only from its defect-induced large pores, which enhance substrate adsorption and active site availability, but also from the synergistic effects between the CoNi alloy and the MOF-303 framework (Co-N interaction), promoting C=O group activation and efficient HDO. This work presents a viable strategy for designing sustainable and efficient lignin catalytic systems, highlighting the promising catalytic potential of MOF-303.

The thorough removal of Cu 2+ from water poses a formidable challenge in environmental remediation. To overcome the performance limitations of traditional adsorbents that rely on physical pores or single functional groups. This study successfully constructs a hierarchical mesoporous composite, denoted as Cys-PDA@CoNi-LDH (where Cys, PDA, and LDH refer to L -cysteine, polydopamine, and layered double hydroxide, respectively). It is synthesized by grafting Cys onto a PDA framework via Michael addition, followed by in situ growth of CoNi-LDH nanosheets. The composite exhibits a high Cu 2+ adsorption capacity of 295.3 mg·g −1 and a removal efficiency of 92.2 % under optimal conditions (318 K, pH=6), with strong resistance to ionic interference. The synergistic mechanism involves specific -SH coordination, LDH ion exchange, surface complexation, and mesoporous confinement. Efficient desorption (86 % recovery) is achieved using 0.1 mol·L −1 HCl, and over 75 % of the initial capacity is retained after five cycles. Fixed-bed column experiments confirm its practical potential, with breakthrough curves well-fitted by Thomas and Yoon-Nelson models (adjusted R 2 = 0.986–0.999). Notably, it achieves a treatment capacity of 1.7 L·g −1 for low-concentration Cu 2+ (5 mg·L −1 ). This work provides a promising strategy for designing selective and renewable adsorbents for water purification.

CoNi–SiOC ceramics were fabricated from Prussian blue via pressureless sintering with a polysiloxane precursor. • Heat-induced CoNi decomposition formed carbon nanowires and multiphase interfaces enhancing EM loss mechanisms. • Outstanding EM absorption was achieved with an RL min of − 50.3 dB and EAB of 5.6 GHz, confirmed by RCS reduction. Prussian blue offers compositional precision for constructing transition‑metal nanostructures; however, their integration into polymer‑derived ceramics (PDCs) for high‑frequency electromagnetic (EM) attenuation remains underexplored. Herein, a Prussian blue‑derived CoNi coordination framework is incorporated into a polysiloxane (PSO) precursor and converted into CoNi–SiOC ceramic via pressureless sintering. With increasing heat-treatment temperature, the CoNi gradually decomposed. Co catalyzed the formation of carbon nanowires (CNWs), while Ni species reacted with the SiOC matrix to form Ni 2 Si and generate Co x Ni 1-x , SiC, and SiO 2 , which were precipitated from the ceramic matrix, leading to the construction of a multiphase, multiscale heterogeneous interfacial architecture. Notably, the CoNi–SiOC ceramic (CNS-3) treated at 1100 °C showed outstanding EM wave attenuation capability. A minimum reflection loss of − 50.3 dB was obtained at a thickness of 2.35 mm, while an effective absorption bandwidth of 5.6 GHz was achieved when the thickness ranged from 2.35 to 2.45 mm, completely spanning the Ku band. In addition, radar cross-section (RCS) simulations based on CST revealed a reduction of up to 17.25 dB m 2 , highlighting the strong potential of CoNi–SiOC ceramics for EM stealth applications. Glycerol oxidation reaction (GOR) has garnered significant attention as a highly attractive reaction, extensively studied for its potential to replace the oxygen evolution reaction in overall water splitting with value-added chemicals production. However, inefficient C–H activation and poor intermediate conversion severely limit their activity and product selectivity. Herein, we develop a tiny high-entropy (HE) doping strategy to construct a Cu-, Zn-, and Mo-doped CoNi-based metal organic framework-derived catalyst (CuZnMo-MOF CoNi ) for glycerol electrooxidation. HE-effects induce the electronic structure modulation of CoNi active species and accelerate the conversion of intermediates during the GOR process. CuZnMo-MOF CoNi can achieve a current density of 10 mA cm −2 at 1.25V vs. RHE, and exhibited the highest formic acid Faradaic efficiency (92.4%) at 1.4 V vs. RHE, featuring better GOR performance compared with undoped counterparts. Moreover, the assembled membrane electrode assembly (MEA) demonstrated stable operation exceeding 120 h at a current density of 50 mA cm −2 , indicating its practical applicability. Our work establishes a tiny high-entropy doping strategy that synergistically regulates the electronic structure of active sites to optimize the reaction kinetics and selectivity during biomass electro-upgrading processes. Tiny high-entropy treatment induced electronic modulation of the catalytic Co/Ni sites in glycerol oxidation electrocatalyst, which optimizes glycerol adsorption and promotes selective C–H activation, leading to high Faradaic efficiency of formic acid (FA). Molybdenum carbide (Mo 2 C) is recognized as a promising electrocatalyst for water splitting owing to its platinum-like electronic structure. However, its practical application is severely impeded by the agglomeration of active sites, excessively strong Mo H bonding, and poor resistance to oxidation and corrosion. To address these limitations, we propose a “template size control-multimetal coordination” strategy to fabricate nitrogen-doped carbon-supported CoNi-modified Mo 2 C hollow microspheres (CoNi@Mo 2 C/C). By rationally tuning the template architecture, an optimal balance between graphitic carbon and carbon defects is achieved, enabling rapid electron transport while preserving a high density of active sites. The Co Ni bimetallic components were introduced to downshift the Mo d-band center, which weakened the Mo H bond strength and boosted the electrocatalytic activity. Moreover, Co and Ni spontaneously form an active oxyhydroxide phase through self-oxidation, which effectively protects Mo 2 C from oxidative corrosion and leaching, thereby substantially improving operational stability. Among the series, the CoNi@Mo 2 C/C catalyst synthesized with a 500 nm polystyrene (PS) template exhibits exceptional bifunctional activity and durability in 1.0 M KOH. At a current density of 10 mA·cm −2 , the catalyst delivers an overpotential of 73.2 ± 2.2 mV for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), 212.8 ± 2.8 mV for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), and a full-cell voltage of 1.515 V for overall water splitting. This work not only offers critical experimental insights but also establishes a theoretical foundation for the rational design of high-performance non-precious-metal electrocatalysts. The efficient removal of low-concentration antibiotics from wastewater is a persistent challenge. In this work, we enhance the performance of a W-BiVO4photoanode by modifying it with CoNi-based metal–organic framework nanosheets (CoNi-MOF), constructing a W-BiVO4@CoNi-MOFN composite. This integration markedly improves the separation and migration of photogenerated charge carriers. Consequently, the modified photoanode delivers a substantially higher photocurrent density of 3.92 mA cm−2at 1.23 VRHE, representing a 2.3-fold enhancement over the pristine W-BiVO4(1.74 mA cm−2). Furthermore, the photoelectrocatalytic (PEC) system employing the W-BiVO4@CoNi-MOFN photoanode demonstrates significantly superior degradation efficiency for low-concentration tetracycline compared to the system based on unmodified W-BiVO4. The performance enhancement is attributed to a dual mechanism. First, the CoNi-MOF modification optimizes the PEC performance of W-BiVO4, facilitating the generation of photogenerated holes and active oxidants. Second, the composite photoanode exhibits enhanced tetracycline adsorption via π–π stacking and hydrogen bonding, thereby promoting degradation kinetics. The photoanode also shows excellent reusability. Total organic carbon (TOC) analysis and biotoxicity tests confirm effective mineralization and reduced environmental toxicity. Furthermore, the system demonstrates promising concurrent cathodic hydrogen evolution. This work highlights the potential of the W-BiVO4@CoNi-MOFN-based PEC system for integrated wastewater treatment and hydrogen production.

Enhancing electron transfer, mass diffusion, and structural stability through interface regulation and nanostructure design is critical for enhancing the catalytic performance of carbon-based materials. Herein, derived from the 2D CoNi-ZIF nanosheets supported on carbon cloth (CC), a 1D/2D self-supported Mott–Schottky-type heterogeneous electrocatalyst (CoNi@NCNT/CC), composed of CoNi alloy encapsulated in a 1D N-doped carbon nanotube (NCNT), was fabricated via an in situ growth strategy. Theoretical calculations prove that the rectifying contact between CoNi and NCNT is beneficial for regulating the electronic states, resulting in spontaneous electron transfer at the Mott–Schottky interface and optimizing the energy barriers associated with the elemental steps of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) . Moreover, the interconnected structure formed by the NCNT can offer highly accessible channels for active sites, dramatically promoting mass diffusion in the electrocatalytic process. As expected, this electrocatalyst delivers a half-wave potential of 0.860 V and an overpotential of 323 mV at 10 mA cm–2. With excellent bifunctional activity, CoNi@NCNT/CC exhibits promising peak power density and long-term stability when applied in liquid (146 mW cm–2, 510 h) and solid-state (62 mW cm–2, 58 h) zinc–air batteries (ZABs). This work enhances both electron and mass transfer capabilities in Mott–Schottky catalysts. It lays the foundation for the design of bifunctional electrocatalysts with rapid kinetics for next-generation ZABs.

Prussian blue analogues (PBAs) have attracted growing interest as competitive cathode materials for aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs). However, their low conductivity and easy structural collapse often lead to poor reversible capacity and cyclability. Herein, cobalt‑nickel hexacyanoferrate (CoNiHCF), a CoNi-Prussian blue analogue, are designed as AZIBs cathode materials for the first time, in which highly uniform CoNiHCF nanocubes are in-situ decorated on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) via a simple co-precipitation method. The resulted CoNiHCF/CNTs composite displays superior zinc ion storage performance, with a great reversible capacity of 124.9 mAh g −1 at the current density of 50 mA g −1 , and a high capacity retention of 81.8 % at 3000 mA g −1 for 1000 cycles, which are remarkably superior to those of CoHCF, NiHCF and CoNiHCF. The excellent Zn 2+ storage properties of CoNiHCF/CNTs can be ascribed to the bimetallic synergistic effect of Co and Ni as well as the introduction of conductive CNTs skeleton. This study offers a straightforward and efficient method for promoting the application of PBAs-based cathodes in AZIBs.

This study modifies the structure of bimetallic cobalt‑nickel metal-organic framework (CoNi-MOF) via a sulfur doping strategy to form a composite material (CoNi-MOF-S) and investigates the mechanism for enhancing its electrochemical performance as a supercapacitor electrode. Compared with undoped CoNi-MOF, the introduction of sulfur plays a dual role: on one hand, sulfur replaces partial elements in organic ligands to form metal‑sulfur covalent bonds, which enhance electron transport efficiency; on the other hand, it successfully induces the formation of cobalt sulfate and nickel sulfate crystalline phases. These newly generated crystal phases construct a stable framework within the nanostructure, effectively alleviating the volume expansion problem during charge-discharge processes. The synergistic effect between the two endows the material with excellent charge-discharge performance and cycling stability. Experimental results show that CoNi-MOF-S2 exhibits superior specific capacitance (701C/g at 0.5 A g −1 ) and cycling stability (capacity retention >85 % after 5000 cycles at 5 A g −1 ) in 6 M KOH electrolyte. Furthermore, a flexible quasi-solid-state supercapacitor with a sandwich structure is constructed using CoNi-MOF-S2 as the positive electrode, activated carbon (AC) as the negative electrode, and a gel electrolyte. This device achieves an energy density of 53.4 Wh kg −1 at a power density of 379.4 W kg −1 , maintains 76.9 % capacity after 5000 cycles at 5 A g −1 , and can operate normally during bending. Demonstrating the synergistic mechanism of crystalline phase reconstruction and electronic structure optimization, this study offers new insights to enhance the performance of CoNi-MOF for electrode materials.

Supercapacitors have emerged as promising energy storage devices due to their high-power density and long cycle life, making them attractive alternatives to conventional energy storage systems. Among various electrode materials, transition metal sulfides, particularly cobalt nickel sulfides, have gained significant attention due to their superior electrical conductivity and rich redox chemistry. In this study, we synthesized cobalt nickel sulfides (CoNi₂S₄/Ni₃S₂) on nickel foam via a facile two-step hydrothermal method to investigate their electrochemical performance in two different morphologies: nanosheets and nanoarrays. Electrochemical characterization demonstrated that CoNi₂S₄/Ni₃S₂ nanoarrays exhibited enhanced performance compared to their nanosheet counterparts, with an areal specific capacitance of 8203.63 mF cm −2 at 30 mA cm −2 over 6000 cycles. The superior performance of the nanoarrays was attributed to their unique vertical alignment, providing more electroactive sites and reducing ion diffusion resistance. To further elucidate the electronic properties of CoNi₂S₄/Ni₃S₂, density functional theory (DFT) calculations were performed. The results indicated that the heterostructure exhibited an increased density of states near the Fermi level compared to pristine CoNi₂S₄, leading to improved charge storage capability. Quantum capacitance analysis revealed that the CoNi₂S₄/Ni₃S₂ heterostructure possessed higher capacitance values over a range of electrode potentials, corroborating the enhanced electrochemical properties observed experimentally. Furthermore, work function analysis suggested improved electronic conductivity in the hybrid structure, further supporting its superior charge transfer characteristics. The hybrid solid-state device fabricated by coupling of CoNi₂S₄/Ni₃S₂ electrodes with activated carbon, delivered an energy density of 0.204 mWh cm −2 at a power density of 8 mW cm −2 . Impressively, even at a high-power density of 40.0 mW cm −2 , it retained an areal energy density of 0.039 mWh cm −2 .

Fabricating battery-type electrode materials with large specific surface area and mesopores is an efficient method for enhancing the electrochemical performance of supercapacitors. This method may provide more active sites for Faradic reactions and shorten the ion-diffusion paths. In this study, the CoNi layered double hydroxides (LDHs) with the morphology of nanoflowers and nanoflakes were prepared in solutions with pH values of 7.5 (CoNi LDH-7.5) and 8.5 (CoNi LDH-8.5) via a simple sonochemical approach. These CoNi LDHs possessed large specific surface areas and favourable electrochemical properties. The CoNi LDH-7.5 delivered a specific capacity of 740.8C/g at a current density of 1 A/g, surpassing CoNi LDH-8.5 with 668.1C/g. The hybrid supercapacitor (HSC) was assembled with activated carbon as the anode and CoNi LDH as the cathode to assess its practical application potential in the field of electrochemical energy storage. The CoNi LDH-7.5//AC HSC achieved the highest energy density of 35.6 W h kg −1 at a power density of 781.1 W kg −1 . In addition, both HSCs exhibited little capacity decay over 5,000 cycles at a high current load of 8 A/g. These electrochemical properties of CoNi LDHs make them promising candidates for battery-type electrode materials. The current sonochemical method is simple and can be applied to the preparation of other LDHs-based electrode materials with favourable electrochemical performance.
