A new anionic Ce-MOF ([CeL(CHOO - )]·(CH 3 ) 4 N + )) based on ligand H 3 L (2,4,6-tris(4-carboxyphenyl)-1,3,5-triazine) was successfully synthesised and its adsorption properties of organic dyes were deeply investigated. Due to its unique pore structure and anionic skeleton, Ce-MOF exhibits excellent adsorption capacity for cationic dyes such as methylene blue (MB), crystal violet (CV) and rhodamine B (RhB), while it has no adsorption effect on anionic dyes such as methyl orange (MO) and methyl red (MR). The adsorption kinetics and isothermal model of Ce-MOF were systematically investigated using methylene blue as a model, and it was found that the adsorption process conformed to the quasi-primary kinetic model and the Langmuir isothermal model, indicating monomolecular layer adsorption. After five cyclic adsorption experiments, Ce-MOF maintained efficient adsorption performance, showing excellent cyclic stability and structural integrity. In the selective adsorption experiment of mixed dyes, it was found that cationic dyes can be adsorbed by Ce-MOF, and small molecule cationic dyes have a faster adsorption rate than large molecules. In addition, through DFT theoretical calculations, we revealed the adsorption mechanism of Ce-MOF on cationic dyes, which provided a theoretical basis for the design of new and efficient adsorption materials. This study not only provides an effective strategy for the removal of organic dyes, but also opens up a new way for the application of MOF materials in environmental treatment.

Thermal insulation materials play an increasingly important role in protecting mechanical parts functioning at high temperatures. In this study, a new porous high-entropy (La 1/6 Ce 1/6 Pr 1/6 Sm 1/6 Eu 1/6 Gd 1/6 )PO 4 (HE (6RE 1/6 )PO 4 ) ceramics was prepared by combining the high-entropy method with the pore-forming agent method and the effect of different starch contents (0–60vol%) on this ceramic properties was systematically investigated. The results show that the porous HE (6RE 1/6 )PO 4 ceramics with 60vol% starch exhibit the lowest thermal conductivity of 0.061 W·m −1 ·K −1 at room temperature and good pore structure stability with a linear shrinkage of approximately 1.67%. Moreover, the effect of large regular spherical pores (>10 µm) on its thermal insulation performance was discussed, and an optimal thermal conductivity prediction model was screened. The superior properties of the prepared porous HE (6RE 1/6 )PO 4 ceramics allow them to be promising insulation materials in the future.

Two rapid and sensitive analytical methods are developed for the determination of D-penicillamine (D-PEN) and tiopronin (TP) through high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence detection (HPLC-FLD) and capillary electrophoresis with laser-induced fluorescence detection (CE-LIF). A boron-dipyrrolemethene (BODIPY) fluorescence labeling reagent, 1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-8-bromomethyl-difluoroboradiaza-s-indacene (TMMB-Br) was successfully applied to derivatize these two thiol drugs. Fluorescein was used as the internal standard (IS) for the quantification of D-PEN and TP in CE-LIF. The derivatization and separation conditions were optimized carefully. Under the optimum conditions, the HPLC and CE separation of D-PEN and TP could be achieved within 12 min. The limits of detection were as low as 2.0 nmol/L for HPLC-FLD and 0.47 nmol/L for CE-LIF. The drugs in human urine and serum samples were determined successfully, and the recoveries were 95.0–06.7% and 95.2–104.3%, respectively.

CeO2 receives extensive researches as an active component due to its providential catalytic center and favorable reducibility. Herein, a series of Ce-modified hierarchical ZSM-5 zeolites (FZ5) were prepared by HF (0.5 mol/L) etching followed by impregnation with different Ce loadings. The role of incorporating extra-framework Ce elements was assessed by catalytic upgrading of the cellulose pyrolysis volatiles to produce light aromatics (LAs). Introducing CeO2 could effectively regulate the acid properties of catalysts with an increase in Lewis acid sites and a decrease in Brönsted acid sites, which could significantly improve the catalytic performance. As a result, the selectivity toward LAs were significantly enhanced and the coke content dramatically decreased. The highest selectivity to LAs and the lowest coke content obtained over 1.0Ce-FZ5 zeolite (loading 1.0 wt % Ce) were 84.0% and 2.42 wt %, respectively. Additionally, the 1.0Ce-FZ5 catalyst exhibited excellent stability, maintaining nearly 90% carbon yield of LAs after the seventh regeneration test. CeO2 modification opened a simple and feasible way for promoting the LAs selectivity and catalyst stability during the reforming of biomass volatiles.

Developing non-precious-metal electrocatalysts with concurrent high activity and durability remains a grand challenge for the alkaline oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Herein, we rationally design and develop a cerium and boron co-doped ultrathin copper–cobalt carbonate hydroxide nanosheet (B-Ce-CuCo) electrocatalyst. The introduced Ce and B achieve a rare collaboration between the adsorbate evolution mechanism (AEM) and lattice oxygen oxidation mechanism (LOM) by optimizing oxygen-containing intermediate adsorption, increasing stabilized oxygen vacancies, and activating lattice oxygen. The optimized catalyst exhibits an ultralow overpotential of 208 mV at 10 mA cm −2 with a Tafel slope of 42.77 mV dec −1 and exceptional stability over 1000 h at 50 mA cm −2 . Theoretical calculations reveal that Ce modulates the electronic structure by shifting unoccupied Co/O states toward the Fermi level, optimizing the adsoprtion of oxygenated intermediate and boosting the AEM pathway. Both Ce and B promote oxygen vacancy generation, while B stabilizes these vacancies to activate lattice oxygen, enabling extensive LOM participation via Co(IV) O and *O O intermediates. 18 O-labeled differential electrochemical mass spectrometry (DEMS) directly identifies the coexistence of AEM and LOM pathways. This synergy reduces the AEM and LOM energy barriers to 0.39 eV and 0.58 eV, respectively, establishing a fundamentally new paradigm for designing high-performance electrocatalysts via dual-element doping. Carbon monoxide (CO) can rapidly accumulate in confined environments such as tunnel fires, posing an acute poisoning risk and demanding catalysts with low-temperature light-off and fast purification capability. Here, we construct a porous mixed-oxide framework from a Ce–Co metal–organic framework precursor and subsequently load 7 wt% CuO, yielding CuO@Co x Ce 1−x –O composite catalysts. Tricobalt tetraoxide (Co 3 O 4 ), Cerium dioxide (CeO 2 ) and Copper (II) oxide (CuO) are deliberately selected to couple reversible oxygen storage/defect regulation (Ce 4+ /Ce 3+ ), low-temperature redox cycling (Co 3+ /Co 2+ ), and interfacial charge-transfer sites for CO activation (CuO). Meanwhile, the MOF-derived strategy enables homogeneous component dispersion, abundant porosity, and intimate heterointerfaces, thereby maximizing interfacial synergy. Among the series, CuO@ Co 8 Ce 2 –O (Co:Ce = 8:2) exhibits the best performance, decreasing the temperature required for 90% CO conversion by 216 °C relative to the undoped counterpart and maintaining stable activity during prolonged operation. Correlating micromorphology, surface physicochemical properties, and redox/oxygen-mobility behavior reveals that moderate Ce incorporation increases defect-associated reactive oxygen species and accelerates oxygen transport, while strengthened Ce–Co electronic coupling further promotes interfacial synergy at the CuO–oxide junctions. Mechanistic evidence supports a Mars–van Krevelen pathway with dynamically regenerated interfacial oxygen vacancies, enabling rapid CO oxidation. This work provides a rational interface-engineering strategy for efficient CO purification in confined fire-related scenarios.

Perovskite-type catalysts were widely used in the field of automobile exhaust purification due to their inherent physicochemical properties and excellent doping characteristics. A series of La1−xMxCo1−yNyO3(M = Ce, Ca; N = Fe, Mn) perovskite-type catalyst samples were prepared by sol-gel method for the four-way purification of PM, NOx, CO, and HC emitted by diesel exhaust. The activity of catalyst samples was tested by simulation experiments and hydrogen temperature-programmed reduction (H2-TPR). Catalyst samples were characterized by means of XRD, FT-IR, SEM, BET, and XPS analysis. The results demonstrated that the perovskite-type catalyst samples with a particle pore size of 3–5 μm can be prepared by sol-gel method. When A-site of LaCoO3perovskite-type oxide was doped by cerium ions, the catalyst samples produced small distortion. The doping of cerium ions to A-site was more conducive to the four-way purification of diesel exhaust than calcium ions. La0.8Ce0.2CoO3perovskite-type samples showed the best purification efficiency, and the purification efficiencies of PM, NOx, CO, and HC were 90%, 85%, 94%, and 100%, respectively. When the B-site of La0.8Ce0.2CoO3perovskite was doped with iron ions, the purification efficiency of catalyst samples for PM and NOxcan be further enhanced. When the B-site of La0.8Ce0.2CoO3perovskite was doped with manganese ions, the purification efficiency of the catalyst samples for PM can be further enhanced. It can be seen from the simulation experiments that La0.8Ce0.2Co0.7Fe0.3O3perovskite was the best doping amount, and the purification efficiencies of PM, NOx, CO, and HC were 95%, 92%, 94%, and 100%, respectively.Keywords:perovskite-type catalyst;diesel exhaust;sol-gel method;four-way purification;doping amount

In this study, iron oxide (Fe3O4) was coated with ZrO2, and doped with three rare earth elements((Y/La/Ce), and a multi-staged rare earth doped zirconia adsorbent was prepared by using uniform design U14, Response Surface methodology, and orthogonal design, to remove As3+and As5+from the aqueous solution. Based on the results of TEM, EDS, XRD, FTIR, and N2-adsorption desorption test, the best molar ratio of Fe3O4:TMAOH:Zirconium butoxide:Y:La:Ce was selected as 1:12:11:1:0.02:0.08. The specific surface area and porosity was 263 m2/g, and 0.156 cm3/g, respectively. The isothermal curves and fitting equation parameters show that Langmuir model, and Redlich Peterson model fitted well. As per calculations of the Langmuir model, the highest adsorption capacities for As3+and As5+ions were recorded as 68.33 mg/g, 84.23 mg/g, respectively. The fitting curves and equations of the kinetic models favors the quasi second order kinetic model. Material regeneration was very effective, and even in the last cycle the regeneration capacities of both As3+and As5+were 75.15%, and 77.59%, respectively. Adsorption and regeneration results suggest that adsorbent has easy synthesis method, and reusable, so it can be used as a potential adsorbent for the removal of arsenic from aqueous solution. Keywords:magnetic Fe3O4;uniform design;surface response methodology;multi-staged doping;arsenic (III & V) removal

Refined design of sustainable sorbent demands to tackle the strong dependence for additional mesoporous support and low utilization in hot coal gas desulfurization. Unlike the well-established preparation of loading sorbents supported on zeolites, a vacuum-assisted self-assemble strategy tapping into the ordered channels of walnut wood is proposed to facilely fabricate three-dimensional (3D) (a%Ce–Mn) y Al 2−y O x desulfurizers with anisotropy which provides a desirable macroporosity for rapid diffusion of H 2 S. Benefiting from the inherent straight channle in micron scale, the obtained (8%Ce–Mn) 1.5 Al 0.5 O x presents the highest breakthrough sulfur capacity (289.79 mg g −1 ) and effective utilization (88.42%) at 700 °C. The favorable rapid diffusion of gases in micro/macropores improves greatly the H 2 O-resistance and anti-interference ability of 3D (8%Ce–Mn) 1.5 Al 0.5 O x for high steam and concentration of reducing gas. The fast mass transport in sulfidation reaction at 700 °C is described perfectly by the improved deactivation kinetics model. This study opens a novel design of the ideal 3D desulfurizers with micron porosity inherited from hierarchical architecture of walnut wood for industrialization utilization in the near future.

Doping with Cr3+and Mn2+effectively enhanced the red component of Ce3+spectra through the intense energy transfer from Ce3+ions to Mn2+/Cr3+ions. The crystal field splitting of [GdO8] and [TbO8] was more extensive than that of [YO8], causing a massive redshift in the Ce3+emission peaks from 542 to 561 and 595 nm, while [LuO8] had an opposite effect and caused a blueshift with a peak position at 512 nm. White LED devices incorporating Ce/Mn/Cr: (Gd0.333Y0.664)3Al5O12phosphor ceramic exhibited a high CRI of 83.97, highlighting the potential for enhancing the red-light component of white LED lighting. Keywords:garnet phosphor;laser lighting;full spectrum;spectral modulation;Ce/Mn/Cr: (Re,Y)3Al5O12

Treatment of chemical industrial wastewater often faces problems of large volume occupation, high cost, and long processing time. In this study, low-content Ce-modified g-C 3 N 4 was prepared and used as a catalyst on stainless steel mesh photo-cathode in constructing a multi-stage cascade microbial fuel cell system to reduce treatment costs in an energy-saving way. The large specific surface area (332.5 m 2 g −1 ) and mesoporous structure of the material, is favorable for catalytic reactions, in which Ce elements were mainly present in single atoms . The characterized catalyst indicated a pronounced effect of Ce species in increasing photo-current and the synergistic pollutant removal , microbial bio-degradation and cascade operation stability. In Batch-mode (light illumination, aeration, total HRT (hydraulic residence time) of 54 h) treatment through three cascade reactors, removed 88% COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand). With 0.5 mM PMS (peroxymonosulfate), 94% COD and 86% NH 4 + -N of the system were removed. The cascade net average COD removal capacity reached 16.04 kg per kg catalyst per day. The addition of PMS also enhanced the electricity generation. In continuous-mode, in totally 18 h treatment through the three-stages cascade reactors without PMS, overall, 83% COD and 78% TOC (Total Organic Carbon) were removed, reaching a net calculated system average COD removal capacity of 19.29 kg per kg catalyst per day. With Ce-g-C 3 N 4 catalyst, the batch or continuous multi-stage cascade system demonstrated great technical flexibility and economic potential in treating high-strength, high-salinity amine-rich industrial wastewater.

A series of CeO 2 @Ce-O-P “multi-core@shell” catalysts were synthesized in this paper for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with NH 3 . The experimental results had showed that CeO 2 @Ce-O-P-30:3 yielded best SO 2 tolerance of an over 70% deNO x efficiency at 250 °C in the presence of 100 ppm SO 2 for 20 h, which was much higher compared to pure Ce-O-P and CeO 2 samples. Further characterization results indicated that Ce-O-P coating layer could somewhat inhibit sulfur depositing on the catalysts during SCR reaction in the presence of SO 2 , thereby protecting the active sites from SO 2 poisoning. Especially, O 2 -TPD results illustrated that a great amount of active oxygen species were retained on used CeO 2 @Ce-O-P catalyst after a long term reaction. The synergetic effect of “multi-core@shell” structure could be attributed to such enhanced performances. The “core” CeO 2 devoted abundant active oxygen sites to fulfill the SCR reaction. And the “shell” Ce-O-P could not only provide acid sites, but also protect the active oxygen species by avoiding the over-adsorption of SO 2 on the catalyst. This work could provide a new way to increase the sulfur resistance for low temperature SCR catalysts.
