The DHBT method is widely used for the preparation of metallic porous materials. However, the porous metals prepared by this method have many disadvantages, such as: large average pore diameter, wide pore distribution and low pore density, which limit the method's application. In this study, low-pressure electroplating was introduced into the DHBT process, guided by gas solubility and liquid-phase mass transfer theories. By adjusting bubble desorption time, improving current distribution uniformity, and enhancing mass transfer at the cathode surface, the controllable preparation of porous nickel with an optimized pore structure was achieved. Results show that low-pressure porous nickel has smaller average pore sizes, higher pore densities, and better pore consistency compared to those prepared at atmospheric pressure. The average pore size at 40 kPa is only 43 % of that at atmospheric pressure, with pore density and specific surface area (SSA) increased 3.5 and 1.4 times, respectively. Additionally, the adsorption performance tests revealed that the porous nickel at 40 kPa had the highest initial adsorption rate, about 3 times that of atmospheric pressure, but the adsorption capacity did not differ much, perhaps that the adsorption capacity mainly depends on the thickness of the getter when the getter layer is thin.

It is a great challenge to develop photocatalysts for the degradation of organic pollutants in the aqueous environment, especially those with excellent catalytic performance under visible light conditions. In this work, using graphene oxide (GO) as an electron shuttle agent and carrier, a hybrid of ZIF-8/NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti) and GO (ZIF-8/NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti)/GO) was prepared by a simple two-step solvothermal method. The morphology, structure, and combination of the synthesized catalysts were studied. The results showed that graphene oxide and ZIF-8 formed an in situ load on NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti). The construction of hybrid materials significantly improved the catalytic activity of NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti) in the visible light range. The degradation activity of the synthesized catalyst was further tested with reactive red dye. The results showed that the catalyst exhibited excellent catalytic removal efficiency for active red, with a degradation rate of 99.8% within 2 h. The prepared hybrid materials have good application prospects in the field of organic pollutant treatment in water. Graphical Abstract

In the manuscript, we developed a novel strategy to effectively improve the visible light absorption of Ti-based MOF by extending the conjugated degree of organic ligands in Ti-based MOFs. The freebased 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin (H 2 TCPP) as organic linkers was used to facilely synthesize Ti-based MOFs (Ti-TiTCPP MOFs). The structural, morphologic and optical properties of Ti-TiTCPP MOFs were investigated. Ti-TiTCPP MOFs was applied to photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B(RhB) and the photocatalytic degradation performances of Ti-TiTCPP MOFs were compared with that of NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti) MOFs under mercury lamp , xenon lamp and daylight lamp irradiation, respectively. The results showed the photocatalytic degradation performances of Ti-TiTCPP MOFs are superior to that of NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti) MOFs in visible region. Furthermore, the photocatalytic degradation mechanism of Ti-TiTCPP MOFs was investigated in detail based on the electrochemical and photoelectrochemical results associated with previously reported photocatalytic degradation mechanisms of NH 2 -MIL-125(Ti). The possible electrochemical and photoelectrochemical reactions and the changes of Gibbs free energy were analyzed. The degradation possible pathways of RhB and the emerging main intermediate contaminants were carefully analyzed by HPLC-HRMS under the present different solution parameters. And then the photocatalytic system based on Ti-TiTCPP MOFs was successfully applied to deal with real industrial textile wastewaters.

The overuse of antibiotics, coupled with inadequate wastewater treatment, has led to widespread environmental contamination, posing significant risks to ecosystems and public health. In this study, a novel BiOCl/Bi 2 MoO 6 /MIL-125(Ti) heterojunction catalyst featuring a Z -scheme and II-type dual-functional junctions was prepared via a two-step solvothermal method and employed for the degradation of tetracycline (TC). The synthesized samples were thoroughly characterized by XRD, SEM, BET, TEM, and UV–vis spectroscopy. The results indicate that the incorporation of BiOCl and Bi 2 MoO 6 effectively tunes the band structure of MIL-125(Ti), enhancing its visible-light absorption. Moreover, the formation of the heterojunction interfaces significantly suppresses recombination of photogenerated charge carriers, thereby improving photocatalytic performance. Under visible-light irradiation, the BiOCl/Bi 2 MoO 6 /MIL-125(Ti) catalyst generates reactive radicals (·OH and ·O₂ − ), enabling efficient degradation of TC with a removal efficiency of 95.71 %. The synergistic effect of the Z -scheme and II-type heterojunctions plays a crucial role in the efficient photocatalytic degradation of TC. This study provides new insights into the degradation mechanisms of bifunctional heterojunctions and presents a promising strategy for designing high-performance photocatalysts for tetracycline degradation.

The efficient removal of recalcitrant organics in high-salinity systems, specifically brine, poses a significant challenge for electrochemically advanced oxidation processes in terms of both activity and stability. Herein, a composite electrode comprising of CNT/Nafion functionalized Ti/SnO 2 -Sb/β-PbO 2 -CNT/Nafion was developed for efficient and stable removal of octadecylamine (ODA) and 4-dodecylmorpholine (DMP) in a real high-salinity environment. The degradation efficiencies of ODA and DMP on the composite electrode can reach 100 % within 60 min, respectively. The total organic carbon (TOC) removal efficiency of ODA and DMP was significantly improved to 78 % and 66 % with remarkably low energy consumption (0.414 and 1.402 kWh/g TOC), respectively. The electrochemical characterizations demonstrate that the composite electrode exhibits improved electrochemical activity (oxygen evolution potentials = 1.791 V) and electrode surface area (ECSA = 20 cm 2 ), while maintaining reduced charge transfer resistance ( R ct = 18.21 Ω/cm 2 ) and enhanced corrosion-resistant capacity (corrosion potential = 1.115 V). Based on recycling and accelerated lifespan testing, the composite electrode demonstrates exceptional stability and recyclability. Additionally revealed was the linked stability mechanism. The electrocatalytic degradation of ODA and DMP begins with the removal of amino and morpholine rings, and then the decomposition of the carbon chains. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and theoretical calculations were used to identify intermediate products generated during the degradation of ODA and DMP, and possible degradation pathways were provided in high-salinity systems, respectively. This work offered a fresh perspective on electrocatalytic oxidation for a real high-salinity system that is more efficient and stable.

Ti/TiO 2 / SnO 2 -Sb-Ir/SnO 2 -Sb-Ni electrodes modified with three kinds of TiO 2 interlayer materials were fabricated. TiO 2 macroporous membrane (MAc) substrate was prepared by direct calcination, and TiO 2 nanotubes (NTs) and TiO 2 mesoporous membrane (MEs) substrate were fabricated by anodic oxidation under different conditions. The study shows that the TiO 2 -nanotube-based anode reduces crack morphology and provides a larger surface area for loading the electrochemically active materials. TiO 2 -NTs as the optimized interlayer improve the oxygen evolution potential (OEP) from 1.49 to 1.85 V and increase the current density of the oxidation peak from 0.28 to 0.55 mA cm −2 , which enhances the oxidative degradation ability of the electrode. In addition, the service life of the Ti/TiO 2 -NTs/SnO 2 -Sb-Ir/SnO 2 -Sb-Ni electrodes is 3.18 times longer than that of the Ti/SnO 2 -Sb-Ir/SnO 2 -Sb-Ni electrodes according to accelerated life tests. The degradation rate of methylene blue (MB) wastewater with an initial concentration of 20 mg L −1 reaches 99.14% under 5.0 V within 5 min by using Ti/TiO 2 -NTs/SnO 2 -Sb-Ir/SnO 2 -Sb-Ni electrodes, which is 1.67 times more than that of the Ti/SnO 2 -Sb-Ir/SnO 2 -Sb-Ni electrodes. Adhesive bonding between titanium (Ti) alloy and carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is extensively utilized to achieve lightweight and sufficient strength in aircraft structures. In this study, acid pickling, anodizing, heating treatments and chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method were applied to Ti-6Al-4V Ti substrates, and CFRPs were grinded to compare the performances. The resin pre-coating (RPC) technique was employed to improve void defects at the channel root of Ti substrate. SEM images indicated Ti substrates surface were covered by growing carbon nanotubes (CNTs) via CVD and epoxy resin was guided into channel root to reduce defects using RPC treatment. Single lap shear tests results exhibited adhesive bonding strengths of anodized composites were higher than that of acid pickled composites. RPC technique applied to Ti substrates after growing CNTs improved shear strengths by 22.3 % than adhesive bonding directly. The combined treatments of anodizing, CVD and RPC had the shear strength of 23.98 MPa improved by 123.5 % than that of acid pickling, which was higher and more stable than the one via external introduction of CNTs using RPC. The failure mode changed from adhesive failure to dominated cohesive failure. Therefore, the novel combined treatments are effective and suitable for aerospace industries .

This study investigates the combustion characteristics of reactive aluminium alloys in combination with fluoropolymer oxidizers. Aluminium-magnesium (Al-Mg) and aluminium-titanium (Al-Ti) alloys were selected as metallic fuels, while polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) was employed as the oxidizer. Composite samples were prepared using two methods: electrostatic spraying (ES) and physical mixing (PM). The ES method yielded samples with a PVDF-coated structure, whereas the PM method produced simple mixtures. The samples and their combustion products were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), combustion experiments, and thermal analysis. The results indicate that compared to the PM samples, the ES-coated samples exhibited more effective dispersion of metallic particles, reduced particle agglomeration, increased combustion heat release temperature, decreased maximum flame area and height, and mitigated or eliminated explosive or micro-explosive phenomena during combustion, thereby achieving stable combustion. Additionally, the ES samples demonstrated a significant reduction in the particle size of condensed-phase products after combustion, alleviated sintering and agglomeration, decreased the formation of metal oxides, and minimized residual metallic fuel, allowing for the full release of combustion heat. Thermal analysis revealed that the coating structure of the ES samples lowered the activation energy for the reaction between the metallic fuel and PVDF, thereby enhancing the chemical reactivity.

Background Diabetic wounds present substantial therapeutic challenges, primarily due to their heightened susceptibility to infection and impaired healing. Effective management requires both local pathogen control and enhanced tissue regeneration. To address these dual clinical needs, we developed an electroactive and photothermal silk fibroin/polylactic acid/Al–Ti₃C₂Tₓ MXene Janus nanofibre membrane using electrospinning and spraying techniques. Results By integrating electrospinning and electrospraying, we fabricated a Janus nanofibre dressing with distinct structural, hydrophilic, and electroactive properties on each side. Upon near-infrared light irradiation, the dressing demonstrated rapid and broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. At an intensity of 0.5 W/cm 2 , the resulting photothermal effect achieved rapid sterilisation within 5 min. When combined with external electrical stimulation, the dressing also facilitated fibroblast proliferation and migration. Moreover, this dual therapy upregulated EGF, VEGF, and TGF-β expressions, thereby significantly accelerating the healing of chronic diabetic wounds. These results underscore the strong therapeutic potential of this approach for effectively managing complex diabetic wounds. Conclusion This novel biomimetic Janus membrane effectively combines photothermal antibacterial action and electrical stimulation to support wound healing. The multifunctional electrospun dressing offers a promising framework for designing advanced wound care materials specifically for infected diabetic wounds.

In order to achieve the harmless and resource-efficient treatment of hazardous elements in vanadium extraction tailings, a one-step reductive smelting separation process was developed to transfer the toxic elements Cr and V into a high valuable vanadium containing ferrochrome alloy. Under the optimal parameter of basicity 1.2, C/O molar ratio 1.2, holding temperature 1550 °C and holding time 50 min, the reduction rate of Fe, V and Cr from vanadium extraction tailings reached 96.14%, 95.98%, 93.60%, respectively, with the simultaneous production of Fe-Cr-V alloy and Ti-rich slag. The hardness of the alloy was 42.27 ± 0.65 HRC and the average friction coefficient was 0.678 ± 0.001, indicating that it basically meets the standards for wear-resistant materials. Toxicity leaching test results demonstrate that the leaching concentrations of Cr and V were 0.030 and 0.013 mg/L, respectively, which were 1/32 and 1/2825 of those in the original slag. These results confirm that the tailings have been effectively rendered harmless and detoxified. Hence, this one-step reductive smelting separation method synchronously realizes metal recovery, wear-resistant alloy preparation and Ti-rich residue co-production, achieving the complete utilization of hazardous vanadium extraction tailings, and provides an effective technical approach for the resource treatment of other toxic waste residues.

ZnAl-LDH/Ti/Fe-biochar enables atomic-level charge separation & electron transport. • PMS/Vis/composite: nitenpyram fully degraded in 15 min (39% min.), multi-radical. • Foliar composite boosts tobacco biomass (56%) via photoelectron-chloroplast transfer. • Waste-derived, stable in water & flow systems; LCA confirms eco-compatibility. A heterostructured composite (BCLDH) was fabricated by in situ growth of ZnAl-layered double hydroxide nanosheets on engineered Ti/Fe-biochar derived from straw lignin. The material exhibits a hierarchical porous structure, a high surface area (312 m² g⁻¹), and uniformly dispersed active components. BCLDH0.2 acts as an efficient peroxymonosulfate activator and visible-light photocatalyst, enabling complete degradation of the neonicotinoid insecticide nitenpyram within 15 min with a 39% mineralization rate. The enhanced activity stems from improved charge separation via heterojunction engineering and synergistic radical generation (SO₄•⁻, ·OH, ¹O₂). The catalyst shows excellent stability and compatibility in various water matrices. Notably, foliar application of BCLDH0.2 significantly promoted tobacco growth, increasing fresh and dry weights by up to 56% and 49%, respectively. This effect is attributed to an “artificial photosynthesis” mechanism, where photogenerated electrons transfer to chloroplasts and enhance the photosynthetic electron transport rate. This work provides a dual-functional material strategy that integrates agricultural waste valorization, advanced oxidation processes, and photosynthesis enhancement for sustainable environmental and agricultural applications. Anatase/rutile titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) with heterophase junction and large Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface area (50.1 m 2 g −1 ) is successfully synthesized by calcinating Materials of Institut Lavoisier-125(Ti) (MIL-125(Ti)) with 30% O 2 /Ar at the temperature of 600 °C (M−O−600). Several techniques are used to examine the physicochemical, photoelectrochemical and optical properties of samples, and their photocatalytic performances are evaluated by photodegradation of gaseous toluene and liquidus tetracycline (TC) under visible light illumination. It is found that the calcination temperature has significant influence on the crystal structure and physicochemical parameters of TiO 2 . The weight fractions of rutile and anatase TiO 2 of M−O−600 are approximately 0.7 and 0.3, which displays outstanding photocatalytic activity . Through the construction of heterophase junction, M−O−600 has better oxygen adsorption and higher density of localized states, which effectively promotes the generation of superoxide radical (·O 2 – ) and hydroxyl radical (·OH) species. In-situ infrared spectra indicate that toluene is oxidized to benzyl alcohol , benzaldehyde and benzoic acid in turn and then oxidized to formic acid and acetic acid before eventually degraded into H 2 O and CO 2 . Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) is also used to further investigate the degradation pathway of toluene. Degradation pathway and mechanism of TC are studied by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS). Moreover, three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy (3D EEMs) and total organic carbon (TOC) show that TC can be effectively mineralized through a series of reactions by M−O−600 during photocatalysis .
