Graphical A thermal imprinting strategy using nanostructured stamps is utilized to selectively manipulate the nucleation and growth in nanoscale to produce small-sized grain with improved crystal quality and surface morphology of the film. The luminance and efficiency of perovskite light-emitting diodes are increased by 123 % and 100 % respectively, compared to the ones without imprinting. Halide perovskites are emerging emitters with excellent optoelectronic properties. Contrary to the large grain fabrication goal in perovskite solar cells, perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) based on small grain enable efficient radiative recombination because of relatively higher charge carrier densities due to spatial confinement. However, achieving small-sized grain growth with superior crystal quality and film morphology remains a challenge. In this work, we demonstrated a nanostructured stamp thermal imprinting strategy to boost the surface coverage and improve the crystalline quality of CsPbBr 3 film, particularly confine the grain size, leading to the improvement of luminance and efficiency of PeLEDs. We improved the thermal imprinting process utilizing the nanostructured stamp to selectively manipulate the nucleation and growth in the nanoscale region and acquire small-sized grain accompanied by improved crystal quality and surface morphology of the film. By optimizing the imprinting pressure and the period of the nanostructures, appropriate grain size, high surface coverage, small surface roughness and improved crystallization could be achieved synchronously. Finally, the maximum luminance and efficiency of PeLEDs achieved by nanostructured stamp imprinting with a period of 320 nm are 67600 cd/m 2 and 16.36 cd/A, respectively. This corresponds to improvements of 123 % in luminance and 100 % in efficiency, compared to that of PeLEDs without the imprinting.

Blue light emitted by smartphones and tablets at night increases the risk of depression. Pu-erh tea has been reported to reduce the risk of depression by regulating tryptophan metabolism, but its underlying protective mechanism on depression induced by blue light at night (BLAN) remains unclear. In this work, two groups of C57BL6/J mice were given water or 0.25% (w/v) Pu-erh tea for 120 days, followed by a 45-day BLAN treatment (400 lux blue light between 21:00 and 23:00) to simulate blue light emitted from electronic equipment. Our results indicated that BLAN induced depression-like behaviors and gut microbiota disorders in healthy mice. Pu-erh tea intake significantly reshaped the gut microbiome (especially Bifidobacterium) and regulated the metabolism of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) which protected the integrity of the intestinal barrier. This improvement further reduced blood–brain barrier (BBB) damage and alleviated neuroinflammation by inhibiting MyD88/NF-κB pathways which finally regulated neurotransmitters such as brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, 5-HT). Collectively, 0.25% (w/v) Pu-erh tea has the potential to prevent BLAN-induced depression-like behaviors by reshaping the gut microbiota and increasing the generation of SCFAs via the gut–brain axis.

InP quantum dots (QDs) are considered to be one of the most promising materials for application in light-emitting devices due to the advantages of heavy-metal-free characteristic and widely tunable spectrum covering most of the visible and near-infrared regions. However, the performance of InP quantum dot light-emitting diodes (QLEDs) lags far behind their Cd-containing counterparts, especially as the InP pixelated device is still in its infancy. In this study, multi-component functional QD inks with excellent stability and printability was developed for inkjet printing InP array QLEDs. High-quality QD films can be obtained, both on flat and bank-containing substrates, by precisely controlling the competition between capillary and Marangoni flows in the printed droplets, enabling high device performance. In addition, a periodic ZnO microlens arrays was prepared by nanoimprinting technology to enhance the light extraction efficiency of inkjet-printed InP QLEDs, leading to 127.6% improvement in external quantum efficiency (EQE) compared to the control device. The maximum luminance, EQE and current efficiency of the obtained device are 17,759 cd/m 2 , 8.1% and 11.1 cd/A, respectively. These results may facilitate the applications of high performance environment-friendly QLEDs by inkjet printing technology.

Achieving long-term stable lead halide perovskite nanocrystals (PNCs) in light-emitting devices remains a significant challenge because of their fast degradation upon exposure to light, moisture, and oxygen. Here, we report a facile one-pot strategy to realize the growth of crystalline ZnO/SiO 2 dual-layer encapsulation on CsPbBr 3 PNCs. The encapsulation provides the PNCs with robust surface passivation to withstand the harsh condition in hybrid light-emitting diodes (LEDs) with an on-chip packaging structure. The PNCs/ZnO/SiO 2 could preserve 100 % of their initial photoluminescence intensity after 500 h of continuous irradiation under a 9.6 W cm −2 blue laser. The fabricated green- and white-LEDs displayed constant light intensity at 80 % of their initial value with continuous driving at 10 mA for 500 h. We believe the excellent stability of the ZnO/SiO 2 encapsulated PNCs could strongly promote the development and application of perovskite-based light-emitting and other optoelectronic devices.

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is widely used for the treatment of hypertrophic scars in clinical practice. However, the low transdermal delivery of photosensitizers in scar tissue and protective autophagy induced by Photodynamic therapy greatly reduces the therapeutic efficiency. Therefore, it is necessary to deal with these difficulties for overcoming obstacles in Photodynamic therapy treatment. In this study, a photosensitizer with photocatalytic performance was designed and synthesized using innovative MOFs (metal-organic frameworks). Additionally, the MOFs, together with an autophagy inhibitor chloroquine (CQ), was loaded in a high mechanical strength microneedle patch (MNP) for transdermal delivery. With these functionalized MNP, photosensitizers and chloroquine were delivered deep inside hypertrophic scars. Inhibition of autophagy increases the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) under high-intensity visible-light irradiation. Multiprong approaches have been used to remove obstacles in Photodynamic therapy and successfully enhance its anti-scarring effect. In vitro experiments indicated that the combined treatment increased the toxicity of hypertrophic scar fibroblasts (HSFs), downregulated the level of collagen type I expression as well as transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1)expression, decreased the autophagy marker protein LC3II/I ratio, increased the expression of P62. In vivo experiments showed that the MNP had good puncture performance, and significant therapeutic effects were observed in the rabbit ear scar model. These results indicate that functionalized MNP has high potential clinical value.

The development of multicolor tunable emission graphene quantum dots (GQDs) is important for their application in photoelectric devices and multicolor anticounterfeiting. Herein, we synthesize blue (B-GQDs), green (G-GQDs), and red GQDs (R-GQDs) via a solvothermal reaction. The B-, G-, and R-GQDs exhibit excitation-independent behavior, excellent fluorescence properties, and exceptional photostability. The relative quantum yields (QYs) for the B-, G-, and R-GQDs are 68, 62, and 27%, respectively. Structural characterization and theoretical calculations indicate that the quantum size effect adjusts the red shift of emission from B-GQDs to G-GQDs, and the increased content of oxygen and C═N bonds are answerable for the red emission of R-GQDs. Then, we apply the prepared multicolor GQDs as a fluorescent ink for pattern printing and multicolor anticounterfeiting. Moreover, B-, G-, and R-colors and white light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are fabricated by ultraviolet radiation as excitation. The white LEDs exhibit a color coordinate of (0.335, 0.343), a high color rendering index of 95, and a correlated color temperature of 4835 K. This research successfully expands the potential application of GQDs in the reliable anticounterfeiting, information security, and high color rendering index GQD-based LEDs.

Cu 2 O@SnS 2 heterojunction photocatalysts with one-dimensional hierarchical nanostructure were prepared by the solvothermal method. The Cu 2 O@SnS 2 hierarchical nanostructure is composed of Cu 2 O nanowire core as well as in situ grown ultra-thin SnS 2 nanosheets on Cu 2 O nanowires. The hierarchical Cu 2 O@SnS 2 composite shows higher catalytic activity, and the degradation ratio of MB reaches nearly 100% at 80 min. The first-order reaction kinetic constant of Cu 2 O@SnS 2 is 0.045 min − 1 , which is much higher than that of Cu 2 O (0.003 min − 1 ) and SnS 2 (0.014 min − 1 ). The improvement in photocatalytic performance is mainly due to the formation of typical heterojunction between Cu 2 O and SnS 2 . Photo-induced electrons in the CB of Cu 2 O react with oxygen to form superoxide radicals (·O 2− ) with strong oxidation ability. At the same time, the photo-induced holes in the VB of SnS 2 also have strong oxidation ability, and the two can synergistically induce the degradation of pollutants. In addition, SnS 2 nanosheets not only provide a large number of reaction sites for photocatalytic degradation, but also facilitate the migration of photo-induced carrier to the surface. The unique hierarchical Cu 2 O@SnS 2 microstructure can also promote multiple light scattering within the material to enhance light absorption. Thus, the one-dimensional hierarchical Cu 2 O@SnS 2 is a promising new visible light catalyst, which has potential application prospect in environmental protection and wastewater treatment.

In order to increase the photocatalytic performance of titanium dioxide mesocrystals (TMCs), in this study, Ag nanoparticles with different mass content were first photodeposited on the surface of as-prepared TMCs to form heterostructured Ag–TMCs catalysts, followed by loading them on g-C 3 N 4 via one step “bottom-to-up” calcination method. The results of photocatalytic degradation toward RhB experiments showed that the prepared ternary photocatalyst of g-C 3 N 4 /Ag–TMCs exhibited excellent photocatalytic activity not only compared with the bare TMCs and Ag–TMCs, but also with all of those reported TiO 2 /Ag/g-C 3 N 4 ternary photocatalysts. Such improved photocatalytic properties were attributed to the synergistic effect created by the LSPR effect and an important role as an electron-conduction bridge of Ag and the existence of heterojunction structure formed between Ag, TMCs and the further coupling g-C 3 N 4 , which added to the evidences that enabled the prepared g-C 3 N 4 /Ag–TMCs catalyst enhanced transfer efficiency of photogenerated carriers and suppressed recombination rate of electron-hole pairs. Moreover, the deposited Ag content had a positive effect on the photocatalytic degradation efficiency. On the basis of the results of this study, the specimen of g-C 3 N 4 /9% Ag–TMCs showed RhB degradation efficiency up to 100% under only 15 min visible-light irradiation. A possible degradation mechanism was also proposed based on several characterizations including photoluminescence spectrum and a serious of photoelectrochemical measurements. Overall, the prepared g-C 3 N 4 /Ag–TMCs ternary photocatalyst with good recyclability looked promising for future practical applications in the visible-light photodegradation of organic pollutants.

Antibiotics have gradually become a new pollutant in water, which seriously threatens human health. The development of efficient and easily recyclable photocatalysts is urgently needed to achieve water purification. Herein, a novel FeIn 2 S 4 /Bi 2 MoO 6 Z-scheme heterostructural composite is successfully synthesized by a simple heat-shrinkable polymerization solvothermal method. When the doping FeIn 2 S 4 mass fraction is 10%, the degradation rate of tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH) is the highest, reaching 83.25%, which is 1.97 and 2.38 times higher than that of pure FeIn 2 S 4 and Bi 2 MoO 6 , respectively. After five consecutive cycles, the degradation rate still reached 72.35%, which has high photocatalytic stability. Combined with energy band structure analysis, active substance capture experiments and modeling with density functional theory calculations confirm the photocatalytic mechanism of Z-scheme heterostructure. This project proposes a promising and feasible method for the preparation of Z-scheme heterostructured photocatalysts.

ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) have been synthesized by a facile one-step synthesis method, and the emission color of the ZnO NPs can be tuned from orange to yellow, green, blue-green and blue. These ZnO NPs were used as phosphors to fabricate UV-pumped white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs). The color rendering index of the WLEDs is (0.31, 0.33), which is close to the standard white emission. The WLEDs have high correlated color temperature (6532 K) and Commission International de L'Eclairage (90.4). These results indicated that the multi-colored ZnO NPs have great application potential in lighting and display.

Efficient photo-Fenton removal of antibiotic effluent is a widely followed and significant attempt to deal with the growing environmental pollution . In this study, BiFeO 3 and lanthanum doped BiFeO 3 catalysts were synthesized via one-step hydrothermal method as hydrogen peroxide activator for mineralization of norfloxacin (NOR). Various characterization measurements were used to verify La was successfully doped into the lattice of perovskite and investigated the effect of La doping molar ratio on BiFeO 3 through the characterization of the morphology and physicochemical properties . The degradation experiment and reaction rate constants showed that the La-doped BiFeO 3 particle exhibited superior photo-Fenton catalytic performance to undoped BiFeO 3 . Especially, the degradation efficiency of 15% La-doped BiFeO 3 could reach up to 84.94%. And the first order kinetic constant of optimized conditions was 0.01638 min −1 , which was about 6.9 times than that of undoped BiFeO 3 .The influence of pH, oxidizer content and catalyst dosage in photo-Fenton reaction were investigated detailedly. Besides, the synthetic catalyst possessed favorable stability and reusability with little metal leaching after many cycles of use. Radical scavenger experiments and electron spin resonance tests were carried out to conclude that the ·OH and holes were regarded as the dominate active species in the catalytic process. The narrow band gap and excellent electron transfer efficiency were the key factors for La-doped BiFeO 3 to have high catalytic efficiency in the photo-Fenton system. Current works demonstrated the great promise of La-doped BiFeO 3 in the elimination of antibiotic organics.

Carbon dots (CDs) have gained tremendous attention over a wide range from fluorescence sensors to optoelectronic devices . In this context, N, S-codoped carbon dots (MO-CDs) of 2.7 nm were synthesized via a facile hydrothermal method using a single precursor Methyl Orange (MO). Upon excitation at 430 nm, the MO-CDs exhibit a yellow emission with an absolute quantum yield (QY) of 15.3%. In addition, the as-prepared MO-CDs possess excellent resistance to high ion strength , high H 2 O 2 concentration, and UV exposure. Because of their good fluorescence properties, a light-emitting diode (LED) device that emits yellow light was fabricated by mixing MO-CDs and siloxane. Moreover, the electrospun nanofibers with yellow fluorescence were prepared by electrospinning technology. This work shows that the CDs derived from MO possess special fluorescent characteristics, which can be utilized as a multifunctional carbon material.
