Molybdenum sulfide has been widely investigated as a prospective anode material for Li+/Na+ storage because of its unique layered structure and high theoretical capacity. However, the enormous volume variation and poor conductivity limit the development of molybdenum sulfide. The rational design of a heterogeneous interface is of great importance to improve the structure stability and electrical conductivity of electrode materials. Herein, a high-temperature mixing method is implemented in the hydrothermal process to synthesize the hybrid structure of MoS2/V2O3@carbon-graphene (MoS2/V2O3@C-rGO). The MoS2/V2O3@C-rGO composites exhibit superior Li+/Na+ storage performance due to the construction of the interface between the MoS2 and V2O3 components and the introduction of carbon materials, delivering a prominent reversible capacity of 564 mAh g–1 at 1 A g–1 after 600 cycles for lithium-ion batteries and 376.3 mAh g–1 at 1 A g–1 after 450 cycles for sodium-ion batteries. Theoretical calculations confirm that the construction of the interface between the MoS2 and V2O3 components can accelerate the reaction kinetics and enhance the charge-ionic transport of molybdenum sulfide. The results illustrate that interfacial engineering may be an effective guide to obtain high-performance electrode materials for Li+/Na+ storage.

Ever-increasing packaging and power densities of modern electronic devices in the present “More-than-Moore” technology era demand higher performance thermal interface materials (TIMs). However, conventional composite TIMs require higher loading to achieve better thermal conductive property, resulting in a mechanical problem. The poor wetting property of matrix loading materials further increases the interfacial thermal resistance (ITR). In this work, a one-step hydrothermal method is employed to grow 2D molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) nanosheets on a tellurium (Te) nanowire skeleton and silver (Ag) nanoparticles are further decorated on MoS 2 nanosheets via the photoreduction method. The in-plane thermal conductivity of the final nanocomposite reaches as high as 10.4 W m −1 K −1 , which is 4,160% higher than that of a pure epoxy resin and one order of magnitude higher than that of conventional polymeric nanocomposites. The 3D interconnected heat transferring network of Te/MoS 2 /Ag greatly enhances the thermal stability of the composite in practical applications. The rational materials design concept may contribute to the development of new types of high-performance thermal management materials.

Flower-like intercalated MoS 2 nanomaterials have been successfully synthesized via a microemulsionmediated hydrothermal (MMH) method, and characterized by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy, element analysis, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in detail. Their catalytic performance for anthracene hydrogenation was evaluated using a slurry-bed batch reactor with an initial hydrogen pressure of 80 bar at 350 °C for 4 h. The intercalated MoS 2 nanoflowers synthesized from Na 2 MoO 4 (MoS 2 -S) and H 2 MoO 4 (MoS 2 -A) as molybdenum precursors have diameters of about 150 and 50 nm, respectively. MoS 2 nanosheets on MoS 2 -S and MoS 2 -A possess stacking layer numbers of 5–10 and 2–5, and slab lengths of about 15 and 10 nm, respectively. The interlayer distances of MoS 2 -S and MoS 2 -A are both enlarged from 0.62 nm to about 0.95 nm due to the intercalation of NH4 + and surfactant molecules. The MoS 2 nanoflowers have high catalytic activities for anthracene hydrogenation. The selectivity for octahydroanthracene, a deeply hydrogenated product, over MoS 2 -A is 89.8%, which is 31.0 times higher than that over commercial bulk MoS 2 . Fully hydrogenated product (perhydroanthracene) was also detected over MoS 2 nanoflowers with a selectivity of 3.7%. The enhanced hydrogenation activities of MoS 2 nanoflowers can be ascribed to the high exposure of catalytic active sites, resulting from the smaller particle size, fewer stacking layer, shorter slab length and enlarged interlayer distance of MoS 2 nanoflowers compared with commercial bulk MoS 2 . In addition, a possible growth mechanism of MoS 2 nanoflowers synthesized via the MMH method was proposed.

In this work, we report a strategy for enhancing the pseudocapacitive performance of MoS 2 materials by the introduction of nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots (N-GQDs) and helical carbon tubes (HCNT). By a simple hydrothermal process, the hybrid composite (MoS 2 , N-GQDs and HCNT) were coated on the carbon cloth (CC) without any binders, which can be directly used as advanced electrode material for high-performance solid-state flexible supercapacitors . In this hybrid structure, N-GQDs are inserted between the layers of MoS 2 nanosheets , which induce and expose more active sites for pseudocapacitance contributions in MoS 2 electrode materials. Meanwhile, HCNT acts as electrically conducting bridge for enhancing the electrical conductivity of MoS 2 nanosheets and speeding up transport of electronic. As results, the hybrid composite (MoS 2 , N-GQDs and HCNT) show higher capacitive performance than pure MoS 2 . The specific capacitance of hybrid composite is high up to 3360 mF cm −2 . Further, the assembled solid-state flexible supercapacitor shows high specific capacitance of 1893 mF cm −2 , outstanding cycle life (capacitance retention of 86% after 2500 cycles), good mechanical stability and great flexibility. Our work provides a reference for the preparation of MoS 2 composites with high supercapacitive performance.

Two-dimensional (2D) piezoelectric semiconductors, specifically molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ), have emerged as premier candidates for next-generation nanoscale tactile sensors due to their exceptional electron mobility, high polarization rates, and low power consumption. However, the inherent rigidity and structural brittleness of MoS 2 hinder its seamless integration into flexible, wearable platforms. Herein, we report a synergistic strategy combining mechanical ball milling and electrospinning to fabricate high-performance MoS 2 carbon nanocrystal/polyvinylidene fluoride (MoS 2 -CNCs/PVDF) nanofibrous membranes on textile substrates. By utilizing polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as a macromolecular surfactant, we achieved superior filler dispersion and optimized interfacial bonding within the polymer matrix. At an optimal PVP concentration of 10%, the composite exhibits a piezoelectric coefficient ( d 33 ) of 34 pC/N—a 1.3-fold increase over pristine PVDF and delivers a peak output voltage of 2.12 V under a 0.5 N load with high linearity ( R 2 > 0.93). Furthermore, the hierarchical composite architecture yields robust mechanical properties, including a tensile strength of 19 MPa and 100% elongation at break, effectively overcoming the traditional brittleness of inorganic MoS 2 systems. Integrated into elastic textiles, the resulting sensor enables high-fidelity real-time monitoring of physiological signals, including radial pulse, respiratory rhythms, and joint kinematics. This work provides a scalable pathway for health diagnostics and human-machine interaction.

Visible-light-driven photocatalysis offers a sustainable strategy to eliminate indoor volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like acetaldehyde (AA), thereby improving indoor air quality. Although heterojunctions based on MoS 2 quantum dots (MQDs) attract attention for oxidation reactions, MQDs/WO 3 composites for VOC removal remain largely underexplored. In this study, MQDs/WO 3 heterojunctions were constructed by coupling MQDs with monoclinic (m-WO 3 ) and hexagonal (h-WO 3 ) phases to systematically investigate phase-dependent charge transfer, reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation, and AA degradation pathways. Comprehensive characterizations indicated that MQDs incorporation increased oxygen vacancies, promoted ROS generation, and enhanced visible-light absorption. Furthermore, PL and in situ DRIFTS analyses revealed that MQDs/m-WO 3 exhibited superior electron-hole separation and stronger surface reactivity than the h-WO 3 system. DFT calculations confirmed MQDs as the primary adsorption sites for indoor VOCs, with MQDs/m-WO 3 exhibiting stronger AA adsorption. Consequently, the optimized 0.5MQDs/m-WO 3 demonstrated enhanced AA degradation and mineralization under visible light, exhibiting excellent stability under indoor-relevant operating conditions. This work provides profound insights into interface-regulated charge transfer and offers a promising material design strategy for advanced indoor air purification.

Single-atom catalysts (SACs) with a two-dimensional (2D) material as the support offer peculiar active sites at edges and in planes, which differ significantly in their chemical environments and consequently in their catalytic performances in reactions. Herein, we report that Pt single atoms anchored at the edges of 2D MoS 2 nanosheets deliver dramatically high activity for CO 2 hydrogenation to CO, in contrast to Pt single atoms as well as their aggregations of 2D-rafts on the in-plane MoS 2 showing inferior activity. By a combination of experimental and theoretical studies, it was found that the activation of CO 2 was significantly facilitated on the Pt single atoms with the synergetic effect of its neighboring Mo at the edges, which readily dissociates into gaseous CO with a low energy barrier. Pt, which is isolated by the S-coordinated surroundings on the in-planes, is inert toward CO 2 adsorption and activation, thus leading to poor activity. This research reveals the close association between the catalytic performance of SACs with their chemical environments, and provides insights into the mechanism modulated by the synergetic effect between single-atom active sites and the support.

The dilemma of biological contamination and radiation pollution deriving from the widely used implantable monitor equipment and wearable electronics promotes the growing demand for integrated biological and electromagnetic protection materials. This work proposes Oxalis -mimicking nanosheet arrays of MoS 2 /Au on carbon cloth (CC@MoS 2 /Au) to exert a “kill three birds with one stone” effect. First, the biomimetic architecture imparts the planar substrate with mechano-bactericidal property, which is dependent on attractive interactions between sharp edges and adhered bacteria. Second, the integration of MoS 2 /Au nanohybrids triggers a photo-bactericidal mode, and the coupling of Au nanoparticles guarantees smooth fulfillment for higher photocatalytic efficacy. Such a synergistic action allows for a nearly 100% inactivation efficiency toward E. coli and S. aureus . Third, the engineered CC@MoS 2 /Au exhibits electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness exceeding 40 dB in X band, equivalent to 99.99% impeding of incident waves. This work reported here to design of multifunctional platforms with antibacterial and electromagnetic interference shielding performance, which may create a powerful support to mitigate the issues of biological contamination and electromagnetic pollution in the field of modern healthcare.

Responsive wound dressings that operate on the responsive mechanism of “external light stimulation-material photothermal conversion-local microenvironment regulation” are key for protecting wound surfaces, promoting healing, and providing antibacterial effects. This work presents an intercalated structure of cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs)/MoS 2 nanosheets through an innovative “exfoliation-functionalization” strategy. Additionally, CNC-MoS 2 nanosheets serve as highly effective photothermal fillers in polylactic acid (PLA) membranes for wound dressing. These membranes demonstrate excellent UV-blocking capabilities, superior moisture absorption, and good breathability. Remarkably, the membrane with 7 wt% CNC-MoS 2 achieves a 400% increase in moisture absorption, with a water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) of 1025 g/m 2 /day. The membranes also demonstrate excellent photothermal conversion capacity: under irradiation at 2 W/cm 2 , the surface temperature of the membrane with a 7 wt% CNC-MoS 2 content increases by 25.8 °C. It remains stable in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), demonstrating its potential for use in photothermal therapy within moist wound environments. Upon exposure to near-infrared (NIR) laser irradiation, the hybrid membrane exhibits enhanced antibacterial activity, resulting in 3 mm inhibition zones for both E. coli and S. aureus . The cell biocompatibility reaches 99.5% and migration rate reaches 51.2% after 24 h with NIR. This study provides a strategy for developing responsive wound dressings, offering an innovative solution for complex wound care.

Semiconductor photocatalysis faces critical challenges, including limited visible-light absorption and rapid charge recombination. Overcoming these bottlenecks is essential for its environmental and energy applications. In this work, a MoS 2 /HCN S–scheme heterojunction was constructed by integrating protonated C 3 N 5 with MoS 2 nanosheets. This architecture was specifically engineered to establish a synergistic piezo-photocatalytic effect by leveraging the intrinsic asymmetry of the N-rich C 3 N 5 framework. Under simultaneous solar and ultrasonic irradiation, the MoS 2 /HCN heterojunction achieved a remarkable 99% degradation of tetracycline hydrochloride within only 15 min. The degradation rate constant reached 0.249 min −1 , representing a 22.6-fold enhancement compared to the 0.011 min⁻ 1 observed for pristine C 3 N 5 . Furthermore, the composite delivered a superior hydrogen evolution rate of 14.83 mmol g -1 h −1 . Mechanistic analysis, supported by in-situ characterizations, confirms that the internal piezoelectric field effectively drives directional carrier separation and significantly boosts surface redox kinetics. This study demonstrates a promising strategy for harnessing multiple environmental energy sources through advanced interface engineering, providing a practical blueprint for integrated pollution remediation and green energy conversion.

Perchlorate (ClO 4 − ) contamination in water poses global health risks, yet its efficient reduction to harmless Cl − under mild conditions remains challenging. Here, we report a donor−acceptor catalytic system comprising defective MoS 2 on N-doped carbon (MoS 2 −NC) coupled with zerovalent iron (Fe 0 ), which enables rapid ClO 4 − reduction at near-neutral pH (rate constant, 2.36 h −1 ), yielding Cl − as the sole product. In the MoS 2 −NC/Fe 0 system, Fe 0 acts as the electron donor, while undercoordinated Mo atoms in defective MoS 2 serve as the active sites, and N-doped carbon mediates electron transfer and optimizes the electronic environment for ClO 4 − reduction. The reduction proceeds via oxygen atom transfer, involving Cl−O bond cleavage, O binding to Mo sites, and hydrodeoxygenation of the Mo-bound O atoms. Our observations offer a practical strategy for ClO 4 − reduction without harsh conditions or noble metals and underscore the promise of donor−acceptor-based, defect-engineered catalysts for reductive transformation of challenging oxyanions.

There is a big challenge in simultaneously optimizing the Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity to improve thermoelectric performance. Herein, an interfacial engineering strategy is employed to decouple thermoelectric properties in solution-processable MoS 2 /Cu nanocomposites. Specifically, a facile electrochemical method enables the exfoliation of natural molybdenite into high-quality nanosheets and the concurrent in-situ decoration of Cu nanoparticles. Within the MoS 2 /Cu heterostructure, the Cu nanoparticles act as electron donors to regulate the carrier concentration. Crucially, Cu nanoparticles also establish robust conductive bridges between adjacent MoS 2 nanosheets, leading to a highly continuous conductive network with high carrier mobility. Furthermore, the constructed MoS 2 /Cu heterointerfaces introduce strong energy filtering to preferentially scatter low-energy carriers and transport high-energy carriers, effectively improving the Seebeck coefficient. Consequently, the all-inorganic flexible film achieves an outstanding room-temperature power factor of 293.8 μW m −1 K −2 . Furthermore, a MoS 2 /Cu-based flexible thermoelectric generator exhibits highly efficient photo-thermo-electric energy conversion. Under simulated AM 1.5 G (1 sun) illumination, the device establishes a stable temperature difference of approximately 12.3 ℃ and an open-circuit voltage of 9.5 mV. This work highlights the profound efficacy of rational interfacial design in developing high-performance, scalable flexible thermoelectric materials for advanced energy harvesting applications.
