By intelligently modulating the thermal energy exchange between the skin and the environment, phase change fabrics are important for improving the thermal comfort of the wearer, saving energy, and expanding the functionality of smart textiles. In this study, paraffin@SiO 2 @Ag phase change microcapsules (M s ) were tightly encapsulated in calcium alginate (CA) matrix using wet spinning process. CA/M s phase change composite fibers with different mass ratios were designed. When the CA/M s mass ratio was 1:1, the CA/M s phase change enthalpy ΔH m was 64.3 J/g, and the maximum tensile strength was 1.27 MPa, along with excellent thermal stability and photothermal conversion efficiency. In addition, the introduction of different contents of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) into CA/M s could improve the thermal conductivity and photothermal conversion efficiency. When the cont1ent of CNTs was 10 phr, the thermal conductivity of CA/M s /CNTs (CMC) was increased by 159 %. Therefore, these phase change composite fibers with excellent photothermal efficiency offer new possibilities for the exploitation of smart fabrics and are anticipated to have a significant role in the area of smart textiles.

The stretchable electrochromic modulator is one of the most promising energy-saving optoelectronic devices that can be integrated into smart portable and wearable electronics. A lot of focus has been on developing transparent conductive electrodes of stretchable electrochromic modulators, but they generally suffer from poor chemical stability, low photoelectric balance, and unsatisfactory deformability. To address this challenge, we first develop Ag@Au nanowires (NWs) micromesh-based stretchable transparent conductive electrodes (STCEs) using a self-assembled approach, which displays superior photoelectric performance (8.5 Ω sq -1 with a transmittance of 81.5 %), good chemical stability in harsh electrolyte environment (acidic and alkaline) as well as robust mechanical stability (bending, folding, stretching and twisting). As a demonstration, the grown WO 3 on Ag@Au NWs-based STCEs can deliver good electrochromic stability even after bending over 1000 cycles and stretching to 50 %. Moreover, highly soft Zn//WO 3 and polyaniline (PANI)//WO 3 electrochromic modulators were assembled using flexible Ag@Au micromesh STCEs, which still retain uniform electrochromism in neutral and acidic electrolytes respectively. Definitionally, the strategy of in-situ grown Au shell on the surface of AgNWs micromesh provides an innovative solution to fabricate high-performance STCEs for the related portable smart wearable electronic devices.

Ag 2 Se has emerged as a promising thermoelectric (TE) material for room-temperature applications. However, its TE performance is limited by the low carrier effective mass ( m* ) of only 0.1 m 0 , where m 0 represents the free electron mass. In this study, we employ a microwave-assisted method to synthesize nanostructured Ag 2-x Se with Pb doping that is found to increase m* to 0.4 m 0 . Accordingly, the Seebeck coefficient is significantly enhanced, which together with the high electrical conductivity, leads to enhanced electronic transport. The increase in m* is systematically investigated by density functional theory calculations and linked to the enhanced electronic by modeling simulations. The calculated band structures reveal that the hybridization of heavy Pb-6p orbitals flattens the conduction band edges, and thereby enhances m* . Furthermore, Pb doping significantly reduces the lattice thermal conductivity due to the high-density point defects, dislocations, and grain boundaries, as revealed by detailed electron microscopy characterizations. The synergy from both enhanced electronic transport and reduced phonon propagation yielded a maximum figure of merit of 1.04 at 376 K, and an average figure of merit of 1.0 for Pb-doped Ag 1.9 Se. The optimized TE performance is further validated in a flexible TE generator, which produced a maximum output power of 0.6 μW at a temperature difference of 45 K. These findings demonstrate that enhancing m* and increasing phonon-scattering using vacancy tuning and aliovalent doping effectively boosts the TE performance of Ag 2 Se, a strategy that can be extended to other TE materials to maximize their potentials for power generation and thermoelectric cooling applications.

As one of the most extensively used antibiotics in aquaculture in China, enrofloxacin (ENR) tends to accumulate in human body and endanger people’s health. Rapid, sensitive, and facile assays for enrofloxacin are urgently needed. In this study, based on the solid-phase substrate preparation strategy combined with microsphere etching and magnetron sputtering, Ag@Au nanoparticle (Ag@Au NP) solid array (Ag@Au NSA) with high surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) enhancement factor (EF≈8.3 × 10 7 ) was developed. Finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) simulations revealed that the Ag@Au NSA achieved maximum electromagnetic enhancement (EM) under the following optimized conditions: 633 nm excitation wavelength, 7.9 nm Au shell thickness, and 30.5 nm Ag core size. Additionally, SERS mapping results confirmed both the excellent enhancement performance and signal reproducibility of Ag@Au NSA, due to the expected micro-region enhancement with long-term effects accompanied by a larger range of high-density “hot spots.” The proposed SERS sensing for ENR based on Ag@Au NSA had a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.076 ng/mL ( R 2 ≈ 0. 9991) and was further applied to real-sample detection of ENR in crayfish tail meat with good recoveries ranging from 91.36 to 112.60%, indicating its great potential in practice. In this work, magnetic CuFe2O4/Ag nanoparticles activated by porous covalent organic frameworks (COF) was fabricated to evaluate the heterogenous reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The core-shell CuFe2O4/Ag@COF was successfully prepared by polydopamine reduction of silver ions on CuFe2O4nanoparticles, followed by COF layer condensation. By integrating the intrinsic characteristics of the magnetic CuFe2O4/Ag core and COF layer, the obtained nanocomposite exhibited features of high specific surface area (464.21 m2g−1), ordered mesoporous structure, strong environment stability, as well as fast magnetic response. Accordingly, the CuFe2O4/Ag@COF catalyst showed good affinity towards 4-NP via π-π stacking interactions and possessed enhanced catalytic activity compared with CuFe2O4/Ag and CuFe2O4@COF. The pseudo-first-order rate constant of CuFe2O4/Ag@COF (0.77 min−1) is 3 and 5 times higher than CuFe2O4/Ag and CuFe2O4@COF, respectively. The characteristics of bi-catalytic CuFe2O4/Ag and the porous COF shell of CuFe2O4/Ag@COF made a contribution to improve the activity of 4-NP reduction. The present work demonstrated a facile strategy to fabricate COF-activated nano-catalysts with enhanced performance in the fields of nitrophenolic wastewater treatment. Keywords:magnetic covalent organic frameworks;nanocomposite;core-shell;p-nitrophenol;reduction

Luminescent Ag nanoclusters (Ag NCs) are a promising probe material for sensing and bioimaging applications. However, the intrinsic obstacle of poor water stability and photostability greatly restrict their practical application in biological systems. Herein, we report the intracellular hypochlorite (ClO−) detection with amphiphilic copolymer-modified luminescent Ag NCs with good biocompatibility and photostability. The Ag NCs were synthesized by using chemically inert hydrophobic ligands and then modified with an amphiphilic (1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine-N-[methoxy(poly(ethylene glycol))-2000]) (DSPE-PEG-2000) and sodium dodecyl sulfonate (SDS) for phase transfer. It was found that the approach of the removal of organic solvents during the phase transfer has remarkable influences on the properties of the Ag NCs, including their size, luminescence property, and aqueous stability. Furthermore, the silver core of Ag NCs could be oxidatively damaged by ClO−, thereby causing photoluminescence (PL) quenching. The ClO−-induced PL quenching was specific over the other common reactive oxygen species (ROS) as well as some common interferences. Finally, they have been successfully applied as a fluorescent nanoprobe for detecting exogenous and endogenous ClO−in living cells.

WO 3 @MoS 2 /Ag (HW@MA) hollow tubes were successfully engineered to photodegrade bisphenol A (BPA) combined with peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for the first time. XRD, XPS, TEM and SEM were conducted. The HW@MA tubes present excellent photocatalytic performance on the removal of BPA. The intermediate products of BPA were investigated by GC-MS analysis and the degradation pathway was proposed. To explore the transferred mechanism of photoproduced carriers, the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique was carried out. The results revealed that the superoxide radical ( O 2 − ), hydroxyl radical ( OH), sulfate radical ( SO 4 − ) were the main active radicals. Moreover, the formed schottky junctions enhanced the separation efficiency of photoinduced electron-hole pairs. Besides, the effect of the photocatalysts’ dosage, PMS concentration, pH of the initial solution and co-existing anions on the BPA degradation were investigated.

An additive- and pollution-free method for the preparation of biogenic silver and silver chloride nanoparticles ([email protected]NPs) was developed from the bacteriaShewanellasp. Arc9-LZ, which was isolated from the deep sea of the Arctic Ocean. The optimal synthesizing conditions were explored, including light, pH, Ag+concentration and time. The nanoparticles were studied by means of ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) spectrophotometry, energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometers (ICP-OES). The transmission electron microscope (TEM) showed that the nanoparticles were spherical and well dispersed, with particle sizes less than 20.00 nm. With[email protected]nanoparticles, the kinetic rate constants for congo red (CR) and rhodamine B (RhB) dye degradation were 2.74 × 10−1min−1and 7.78 × 10−1min−1, respectively. The maximum decolourization efficiencies of CR and RhB were 93.36% and 99.52%, respectively.[email protected]nanoparticles also showed high antibacterial activities against the Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) spectrum indicated that the O-H, N-H and -COO- groups in the supernatant of Arc9-LZ might participate in the reduction, stabilization and capping of nanoparticles. Flexible conductive films have been increasingly demanded for wearable devices that are widely applied. However, existing fabrication methods are limited by uneven particle distribution, complex processes, and material selectivity. Herein, a particle manipulation method based on surface acoustic wave (SAW) technology was proposed to align spherical silver (Ag) particles and fabricate a flexible conductive film with a linear arrangement structure. The process for fabricating conductive films was optimized by investigating the influence of the dielectrophoresis (DEP) effect, along with the effects of chamber height and solution solid content, on the alignment of Ag particles. Besides, the conductivity of the films and their applications in flexible sensing including wrist bending, finger short-term and continuous pressing actions were explored. Results showed that the acoustic radiation force dominates the aggregation of spherical-like Ag particles into periodic stripe patterns along the acoustic pressure node lines at locations distal to the substrate. Ag particles at the potential nodes are dominated by the dielectrophoretic force, leading to the formation of chain-like structures, which can be eliminated by utilizing the electric field shielding layer. The optimized film has a high conductivity of 4774 S/m and exhibits stable resistance characteristics during flexible deformation. The resistance change can be attributed to the changes in particle spacing, the breakage and recovery of conductive paths caused by deformation. The current work provides a new scheme for the fabrication of conductive films with high process controllability in the field of flexible sensing.

Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS), with the exceptional single-molecule detection capability and high sensitivity, has become an advanced spectroscopic analysis method in fields such as chemical analysis and biosensing. Three-dimensional (3D) sandwich substrates, due to their unique structural characteristics, have attracted considerable attention for their ability to enhance SERS detection sensitivity. However, the controlled assembly of 3D sandwich substrates with bimetallic nanoparticles remains a challenge. In this paper, a fabrication method for constructing 3D sandwich substrates via a bottom-up approach is proposed. Using a liquid–liquid phase self-assembly method, Au@Ag nanocubes (Au@Ag NCs) were assembled on a polystyrene (PS) microsphere array with monolayer MXene (Ti 3 C 2 T X ) adsorption, successfully constructed an Au@Ag NCs/MXene/PS microsphere substrate. Furthermore, the SERS sensitivity of the substrate was evaluated using Rhodamine 6G (R6G), Crystal Violet (CV), and Aspartame (APM) molecules, and experimental results show that the detection limits are 10 −12 M, 10 −11 M, and 0.0313 g/L (1.06 × 10 −4 M), respectively, with excellent uniformity and stability of the substrate. These findings demonstrate that the constructed 3D substrate exhibits outstanding SERS performance and holds significant potential for applications in environmental pollutant detection and food safety.

In this study, Ag – Bi bimetallic negative electrode was prepared on Fe foam substrate through a clean and efficient one-step microwave route. The synergistic effect of Ag, Bi, and Fe endowed the electrode with a remarkable electrochemical performance. The electrode attained an impressive areal capacitance of 5.24 F cm −2 at 1 mA cm −2 in 6 M KOH. Notably, the capacitance dropped to 76% of its original capacitance after undergoing 10,000 charge-discharge cycles at 10 mA cm −2 , which indicates good stability and reliability. Furthermore, an asymmetric supercapacitor was designed and built using Ag–Bi/iron foam as the positive electrode. The device maintained an 85.3% initial capacitance through 12,000 charge-discharge cycles, while delivering good areal energy/power density (643.56 µWh cm −2 /1266.63 µW cm −2 ). This study established a fabrication strategy for high-performance anode materials, achieved an excellent balance between electrochemical efficiency and economic viability, and demonstrated substantial potential for practical application.

Dimer optical antennas (OAs) enable great fluorescence enhancement and excitation volume reduction and hence potentially can be a very useful tool for single-molecule detection. The realization of broadband fluorescence enhancement with a dimer OA remains an essential step for its usage in multi-color single-molecule fluorescence (SMF) detection. Although silver dimer OAs have been shown to be able to yield broadband fluorescence enhancement over the visible spectrum, they are amenable to oxidization, hard to functionalize, and could cause cytotoxicity. To overcome these limitations, in this work, we took advantage of nano-sized silver due to its optical properties and gold due to its chemical properties and developed an ameliorated Ag@Au dimer OA in terms of its overall performance. The Ag@Au nanoparticle in the dimer OA contains a 70 nm silver core and an ultra-thin (∼1–5 nm) gold shell which play a key role in its optical responses. Furthermore, we employed three typical dyes, i.e., FAM, TAMRA and Cy5, representing the blue, yellow and red ranges, respectively, and characterized their single-molecule fluorescence enhancements in the presence of Au or Ag@Au OAs. Our results indicate that, in contrast to its Au counterpart, the Ag@Au dimer OA prepared here can greatly improve its optical response in the blue range and eventually achieve broadband fluorescence enhancement throughout almost the whole visible spectral range. Meanwhile, it also maintains good chemical stability and accessibility to functionalization. Such Ag@Au dimer OAs are thus expected to have many important applications in the future, including single-molecule sequencing and multi-color biosensing.
